Trouble With Voice-Chat In Ga

Hi I have an Audigy 2 Platinum and am currently having problems when using voice chat when playing games. Whenever I speak I hear myself being repeated through my speakers a second or so after, so that I can hear what I am currently saying along with what I've just said at the same time. I am using a Labtec PC mic connected to the Mic In 2/Line In 2 connection on the break-out box at the front of my computer. I thought it might just be a latency issue causing a delay from when I say something to when I actually hear it but I'm not sure how to confirm this or how to change the settings in the mixer. Could anyone please help me with this. Thanks very much!

Since Yahoo Messenger is not an Apple product you should look to Yahoo support for answers:

Of since you're friends are the ones who receive the error message, perhaps they should upgrade their messenger.

    Hi,
    10.4.1 Really ?
Which OS level and which Updates ?
Your post suggests that you are at least at 10.4.7 when the logs were introduced.
What Error log number appears in the second paragraph if you open the Reveal Triangle on the arrival of the Pop up to send to Apple ?
Or in Home Folder/Library/Logs/iChatConnectionErrors is where old logs are stored.

  • IChat only connects with voice chat; cam seems to be good

    Hi all,
We have an Imac (Intel core 2 duo) in our network which ran into an IChat problem after upgrading to Lion. Starting IChat it shows only the telephone icon in all the connections. Communications run only via voice and text chats. When I go to the video settings in IChat, the cam seems to be perfectly fine, it is really me I see! I trashed all the IChat prefs running AppZapper finishing with a restart, no improvement at all. Network, open ports etc. are not changed after the Lion upgrade; the other machines do chat perfectly under Lion with no problems at all. Anybody an idea where I can seek to solve this strange problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards, Julius

    Hi,
    Thanks for the Points.
It is very easy if you glance at some threads to think that the problem is deeper than it is.
It is also easy from my end to thinks that when people start with detailed action they have already done that I can presume that some simple stuff was checked (and didn't need to be said).
I was a little worried about what AppZapper might have deleted so started with the simpler stuff.

  • Having trouble with video chatting on iChat

    Hi,
I'm trying to video chat with my brother. My video chat worked fine at school but when I came home I am connected to wireless internet, and though it is very fast when ever I video chat my brother looks very blurry and choppy and I look choppy and blurry on his. The sound is also very choppy. Now, my preview screen looks clear, and when I am chatting with him I look clear to myself. Also, when I do it with anyone else it's the same thing, but when he does it with other people it works fine and its clear. so its obviously me. I tried plugging into the wall but its the same story. So I figure its gotta be my internet service provider or my settings. does anyone have any information or tips that can help fix this problem for me? Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
Your Preview or the incoming Video ?
The Internal iSight is fixed focus and the lens is small. If you have ever happened to have opened the lid and put your finger there, some dirt, grease or fluff may have transferred there.
If you go to the Video menu and open the Connection Doctor it will tell you your own Frame rate and Bit rate and that of your Buddy.
Low speeds here, say lees than 200kbps, may show up as a blurry incoming video.

  • Trouble with voice programs

Ever since I got my linksys router (WRT54G) i can't use any form of voice program (Teamspeak, xfire, etc) I've forwarded all the points, made exceptions in firewall and everything, but still no results. Am I missing something?

Yes, give an outpoint BEFORE this extra audio on track 3 and 4 and you'll be good.
Obviously FCP decides which track it is going to send the Voice Over to at the momen't you start recording. Because it does not know how long you are going to record it will decide not to record on A3 or A4, because somewhere down the track there is some audio.
If you'll set an outpoint on let's say 6 minutes, you will know that you'll have plenty of time to do your 3 or 4 minutes voice over recording AND FCP will know that it will be OK to record on A3, because the recording will stop before it encounters other audio on A3 or A4.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • Voice chat with psi -- Google chat

    Hello all,
I have been trying to find a linux IM app that can use voice chat with Google Talk.  As far as I can tell, psi is supposed to support this.
I tried version 0.11 from pacman, which connects and everything but there does not seem to be any voice chat.
I used the AUR package and compiled the latest svn version, 0.12rc3 and it works ok, but I still can't find anything within the program to do with voice chatting.
I have been all over the psi wiki etc., and it all seems to suggest that voice chat is included and is working with google chat, but I sure can't find it.  Some info dates back to late 2005 with the libjingle branch, but I believe libjingle is now in the main program.
Can someone tell me if voice chat is included in psi, and if so maybe a hint on what might be going wrong for me.
    Cheers,
    Wittfella

I have been banging my head agaist this and am slowly getting somewhere now...
Psi does come with jingle, but its not enabled by default, because its still deemed 'experimental'.
To get the psi-svn AUR package to compile with voice chat support you have to do a number of things:
    1.  Use the 'configure-jingle' with '--enable-jingle' option instead of the regular 'configure' script.
    ./configure-jingle --prefix=/usr --enable-jingle
You can either modify the PKGBUILD or do it all manually.
    2.  You have to have a specific version of ortp installed otherwise it will not compile.  This happens to be ortp-0.7.1 but our pacman version is up to 0.14.0 or so.  Luckily you can find the sources for ortp-0.7.1 and it compiles and installs fine.
    3.  Now the biggest problem.  When you try to compile you will get gazillions of errors.  It turns out they are quite simple, and are caused by the incompatability problem with gcc-4.3.  Most of the errors are solved by opening the offending header file and inserting.
    #include <cstring>
So after all that, the good news is I have managed to create a working copy of psi with voice support, however:-
psi <--> google talk connects but there is no audio from either end
psi <--> psi voice chat seems to work fine
If anyone is interested I created packages for psi and ortp.  Let me know if you have any more success with google talk.
    psi-jingle-1166-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
    ortp-0.7.1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz

  • Problem with voicer over on IMAC

hello , I have some troubles with Voice over on my IMAC. I am blind and this function is really important for me. I use it for many applications, but my bank had currently changed the graphic of the website, voice over fails to interact with images and so i could not do operations. someone can help me?

I am having problems with my Intel iMac's Firewire 800 as well. I have two WD drives daisychained on the 800 port. After 6 months with no problems, and a few weeks after updating to Snow Leopard the second drive intermittently stopped mounting after sleep. The devices attached to the 400 port were OK. It got worse over a few weeks, and after over an hour on the phone to Apple support and multiple tests (eg linking two computers using target mode), the tech said it was an 800 port hardware problem. My iMac is just back from having the logic board replaced (200 km round trip!!), and it has happened again - the second drive "was not ejected properly" after waking from sleep and has not mounted. WD refuse to support daisychained devices, though I don't think the drives are faulty because I can get them to mount using USB. So, you could have a hardware problem, but it may be a Snow Leopard compatibility problem if you have recently updated - other discussion topics have reported similar problems with firewire drives after updating to Snow Leopard.

  • Voice Chat

I have a Torch 9810 and I am having a problem with Voice Chat. I have never used it, but somehow two of my BBM contacts are showing the green icon on the top right corner when I am BBM'ing them. How do I remove voice chat from those contacts. I am being charged by my provider for something I am not using.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Because the other BB user must have the most recent version of BBM installed that includes voice chat AND they have to be on wifi, or, on some devices and carriers, 4G.

  • Voice chat using Sound API?

    Hi there,
I'm a university student, trying to find a way to create an application in java with voice chat feature. It will actually be a call center simulator app consisting of two parts, a server and a client part:
    The multithreaded server manages the clients, and the JPA database;
The client's job is to login to the server, and then he'll get a randomly selected person's data and phone number by the server - in this case, IP address is the phone number, and the person is another available client. Then he can call that person, ask the questions regarding for example, a bank card (if it is a bank's call center), jot down the answers to a form, and then hang up; then the client will send said person's data to the server, who updates it in the database.
For the voice chat part, I want to use the Java Sound API, and I've found this example:
    [Voice Chat Using Java|http://javasolution.blogspot.com/2007/04/voice-chat-using-java.html]
But although this example works, there's a delay of 1.5 - 2 seconds in the audio.
    My questions are:
    - Is it a good idea to implement a voice chat feature using the Java Sound API, something similar to the example above on the link?
    - Is it possible to somehow fix that delay? if yes, then how?
Also, how would you imagine/structure a program like that?
Let me remind you that it's only a simulation, and we're not talking about actual phone-to-net calls or something like that; only LAN and internet calls, so clients should need no more than a microphone and a speaker to work with it, and also, the server shouldn't need extra hardware, too.
Thank you in advance for your replies,
    Ben Dash
    university student

    - Is it possible to somehow fix that delay? if yes, then how? From what I saw from glancing at that code, it's transporting the audio streams via a TCP stream. TCP streams retransmit data when it's lost, which is actually something that you don't want in a real-time application. If you lose some packets with audio data, and those are retransmitted, your receiver is getting progressively more and more behind (because the audio stream has to wait for the missing bytes to arrive before it can continue.
For a simple application like yours, your best bet would be to divide the audio stream into buffer-sized chunks (1024 bytes might be a good buffer size), and transmit those in UDP packets. Make sure to add a packet number to the UDP packets. On the other end, just write some code so that out of order packets are ignored (so if packet 4 arrives after packet 6, for instance, you drop that packet rather than playing it after 6... so you'd get 123(silence)567...
