Trouble with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 x64

Hello everyone
My system is in a very big mess. I'm using Ideapad y550 and recently I was hit by the continuous restart cycle. I updated my windows as usual and after a system restart as part of the update processs, windows just kept on restarting. "configuring updates part 3" and it would always be at 0%. Anyway, I searched the internet and came across a solution. I downloaded a Vista recovery disc (since Lenovo did not provide me with one) and went to command prompt and deleted a certain file that was causing this restart loop. Now, after that day I have been hit with more problems. Here
1) windows does not update anymore. Always shows "searching for updates" and is stuck there forever
2) "turn windows feature on/off" box is always empty.
3) "sfc /scannow" does not work anymore. gives a "windows protection error" or something similar.
4) I failed to install Microsoft Office 2010 as it gives this error "Error 1935 - HRESULT: 0x8007054F". I am stuck with no office application as I deleted office 2007 to install this and cannot do my university work!
5) windows has gotten extremely slow.
ok that is a huge list, I know. Could someone please help me? I am really lost right now and going back to factory settings is not an option since I do not have backup. I'm ready to try everything to avoid that. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks so much for your efforts

clean windows installation will delete all the files you have on volume c:
i didn't suggest you to repair, cause i don't think it'll help, but you can try.
just use windows repair to save your personal files, after then perform clean installation not to have any other issue(s).

  • Cannot open iTunes 8 with Windows Vista Home Premium

Hopefully someone here can help me with my problem. I have a new Ipod Touch that needs itunes 8 to work. I have a new HP PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem I'm having is: itunes & quicktime will download successfully onto my computer, but after download will not open. I receive the error message "itunes has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have tried to open them from desktop & from programs ...will not work. I was using itunes 7 with no problems, but after upgrade to the new version (itunes 8) I started having this problem. Here are a few of the things I have tried so far with help from just about every tech support I could find: uninstall & reinstall itunes (tried this several times..didn't help, but itunes installs successfully each time)...try installing quicktime & itunes separately (didn't help)..disable firewall & virus protection (didn't help)...turn off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) (didn't help)...tried saving software to discs & installing itunes that way (didn't help)...I have updated all of my software including windows vista...I've run virus checks...& pretty much run checks on anything else I could find. I occasionally get the same error message when I try to open Rhapsody, but not every time. I'm thinking of using my backup discs & restoring my computer to factory settings. To do that would be a last resort, but I am getting pretty close to desperate. Does anyone think restoring it would help? If anyone has any ideas for me to try I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

You need to to check to see if your Quicktime works normally. Itunes will not work if QUicktime doesn't.
If Quicktime doesn't work, describe what happens with any error message in full.
Go to your control panel and try to start QUicktime preferences. In XP you need to be in classic view to see it, I am not sure about Vista.
Give the full text of any error message.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar
If so uninstall them, they are bad news for Quicktime.
    Report back with your results.
If Quicktime is OK have you seen the Apple troubleshooting article for launch failure, I guess you have probably done quite a bit of it anyway, but is worth going through it systematically:

I have a problem with the iTunes Store, I have an ipod and an iphone 2. My problem is I can not access any application to download music, videos, books, etc..
ITunes will be installed wrong or what should I do to activate these options?

Go to the front page of the Store, and click Change Country.  Make sure it is set to the country where you actually are.

  • Nvidia GeoForce Go 7600 graphics driver and IQ770 with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition

I have been having problems with my screen for several months now:  every so often, for no apparent reason, it loses some of the pixels.  I can still read the items on the screen, but the resolution is trashed.  It happens intermittently and then goes back to normal.  I have tried uninstalling the graphics driver and letting the computer go find it on a reboot.  This does not work.  I have also tried installing the original graphics driver.  This does not work either.
If I look in the "Problem Reports" area in Control Panel, there is a graphics related error:
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)  The resolution listed is to reinstall the device driver (which I've tried dozens of times without success) or to change the computer's performance settings, which also does nothing.  I still get the occasional loss of screen clarity which returns to normal all by itself.
Is anyone else seeing this problem?  Does anyone have a resolution?
I have tried the latest graphics driver available on the hp website, from 8-2008 as well as the originally installed version from January 2007.  The version of Windows is Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition, Service Pack 1.
If I completely uninstall the graphics driver, and do not reload any, the screen performance is fine, but then there are other problems, such as graphics acceleration.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Crystal Report with Windows Vista Home Premium

(Why I added Code and my paragraph becomes dis-order??)
    Dear all,
This is my first post in this forum. So, if I put at wrong section, Mod please kindly move my thread.
Here is what I'm facing now.
I have an application which is coded in Visual Studio 2005 (VB.Net) using SQL Server Express 2005 edition. This project include report sections which I used Visual Studio built-in Crystal Report. (My development PC is running XP Pro edition)
I already tested it in Windows XP Professional Edition (this is a clean OS no programming or other tools installed in it) and it worked well and it display the report accordingly and correctly.
But when I tested it in Vista Home Premium, it got error and I can't run all reports. I juse ADO.Net connectivity to connect between Database and Crystal Report.
Below is a sample which is provided by Crystal Report under my C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Crystal Reports\Samples\en\Code \ VB_Win_Data_DataSets. The way I connect is follow this project standard. Even the sample project got this error in Vista Home, I think it may be Vista problem or Crystal report problem. It will not my connection problem.
Because my customer PC is running Vista Home Premium, now I'm in dead end. Kindly please tell me what should I do to solve this case.
    Thanks.
Here is the error it pop up. (this is just a portion of the error. the others are "Loaded Assemblies" portion).

try to add error code. but my paragraph seems to disorder when I add
    blog. don't know why.

    Hi Ludek,
Sorry, I was on vacation and didn't notice the email alert.
I didn't deployed yet. Because I want to make sure it runs OK on vista, I didn't create a setup or deploy project in .Net.
I just build and copy the entire bin folder and required data to Vista PC and test it.
then it hits this error. (All other parts of my program is working well like CRUD data to DB.)
(I did install this file "crredist2005_x86.msi" on Vista PC.)
    Thanks for all your support.
I still didn't solve this case.
What I do now is I change the way I connect to Server for all Crystal Reports.
At first I use Dataset and map it to Server.
Now I directly connect to it without pass through dataset. (Use OLEDB SQL Server.)
But I still want to know how to solve this case.
If anyone know it. Please share your idea and experience here.
    thanks.
