Trouble with Word to PDF

When I convert an 11 page word document it becomes 12 pages
on the PDF, and the ammount on each page decreases slightly? Why is
that? And, can I get it to convert exactly as is?

The problem appears to be a combination of things. Font
substitution is throwing off the alignment slightly, and the border
in the margins is doing the same. Thank you for pointing this out
to us, and we'll work on a fix as soon as we can!

  • I am currently having trouble with an attached PDF fill-able form created in Acrobat being non savable in Reader

    Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me out?
    I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
    Trying to save other as extended reader has not worked, also if I save the attachment file as an extended reader first I am unable to attach a return hyperlink back to the Parent document,
    Help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you!

    I can't say for certain without looking at the actual PDF but it does appear that they created one large text box over multiple lines. For a fillable form it may have been smarter to remove the lines and create a box with smaller text that supports multiple lines.
    At any rate, nothing you can do about it with the free Reader (and depending on the security, maybe nothing with Acrobat either.)

    Here is the code, thought I had put it in the first time, guess not heh. Anyway, I converted the arrayList(accountList) to a String so that I could see the that element I am trying to index is in there, which it is. I also checked the file that i'm populating the arrayList from and it also has the element in it.
    public static void getAccountNumbers() {
              accountList = LoadStoreAccounts.readCollectionObject();
              accountInfo = accountList.toString();
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, accountInfo);
              acctNumIndex = accountList.indexOf(accountNumber);
              acctIndex = String.valueOf(acctNumIndex);
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Index of accountNumber    is: " + acctIndex);

  • Weird problems of figures with word to pdf conversion

    Platform: Windows Vista
    Word 2007
    Acrobat 9
    Q: I have some wmf format vector figures inserted into word file. When I convert the word file into pdf format using the built-in pdfmaker button in the word menu, the vector graphics all become bitmap type. If I use print to pdf commond, the graphics are still vector format. Because I want to retain the Heading markers and other bookmarkers in the converted pdf file, I prefer using the pdfmaker for the conversion.
    Does anyone know how to fix it? it used to work in my old computer with acrobat 8 and word 2003. Not sure whether it is a compatability issue.

    You may want to be open to issues of WORD 2007, particularly if using a docx format. It may not be the issue you are having, but I have found problems with WORD itself for graphics. In some cases, it will take a nice graphic and split it into parts when creating a PDF. I am not sure what all the issues are, but WORD 2007 seems to be part of the problem, not just Acrobat. In fact, I have seen WORD take a vector graphic and change the fonts to a graphic, rather then leave them as a font in such a graphic - that was with a docx file. I am not saying WORD is the problem, but be open to alternate explanations of what is going on.

    If your mail service allows all of that to be sent as attachments or however you are attempting that then it's possible the email server or servers receiving the email do not allow attachments that large.
    You say you are sending "a combination of MS Word and pdf files and attachments". I've never sent anything like that. I have zipped various files into a zip file then attached that to an email for sending.
    Googles mail appears to allow a total of 25 megabytes of attachments in a single email.
    Yahoo mail appears to allow a total of 25 megabytes also.
    Microsofts mail appears to allow a total of 20 megabytes of attachments in a single email.
    Another option would be to upload everything to your onedrives public folder and provide a link for others to download all of it in the email you send out.
    A single users onedrive supposedly can have up to 10 gigabytes loaded onto it. I suppose all of that could be used by the public folder but maybe not.

  • Installed Adobe Reader 9 in trouble with Word...

    I am in trouble because I upgraded Adobe Reader to version 9, replacing the version 8 I was using with success! I work on an iMac.
    I wrote a book on Word 2004 for Mac and if I move it on Word 2008, even if the configuration is the same, the pages come out differently and all messed up. I absolutely need to keep it on Word 2004 from which I cannot save my text as pdf because of Reader version 9, it is not available in the menu anymore.
    Ok to uninstall it, but I cannot find the download for my previous version 8 on which the book was transferred for the editor and publisher.
    On the CNET forum someone wrote that he was in trouble like me, that it was easy to uninstall version 9 but that it took him a lot of time to find version 8 to download. In fact, I search for it on Google but every time it seems I find it when I try to download I don't have the possibility to choose version 8, I click on 8 and get 9. I am a sort of desperate, It's urgent for me to send this book and this stupid problem drives me crazy. Would you mind helping me? Does some of you know where to download? Thank you so much!!! Marie-Claire from Italy

    I also replied to your other thread on this.
    Reader has nothing to do with the creation of PDF's. It is for viewing them only.
    Do you have Adobe Acrobat? If so, you'll want to bring this problem over to the Acrobat forum. This one is for the free Reader.

  • Trouble converting Word to PDF

    I have been using acrobat.com to convert word documents into PDF without a problem for about a month.  All of a sudden, today, when I tried to convert a Word document, it stalled and was "converting" for a very long time and would not ultimately convert.  Can someone please walk me through correcting this problem?  Thank you.

    It's like that the problem lies with either your internet connection OR the Acrobat.com service. If you have verified that your internet connection is strong, we suggest that you wait a while and then try again. Depending on the size of the file (the limit is 200 MB) and the number of other users currently using the service, there are intermittent interruptions/slowness on Acrobat.com that could cause the delay.

  • Trouble with viewing online PDF documents

    Every time I try to view an online pdf document, I get a black screen that tells me to open Adobe Reader and accept the end-user agreement.  I cannot figure out how to do this.  Please help!

    Launch the desktop application first.
    On Windows it's Start>All Programs>Adobe Reader XI
    On Mac OS X it's in the Applications folder under the path /Applications/Adobe Reader XI
    After launching you "should" be presented with a EULA screen to Accept the licensing agreement.

  • IPhone 5 trouble with words being deleted as I text

    When I start texting, all of a sudden my phone starts deleting whole words that I just typed in...automatically. Out of nowhere. It will also add periods, double letters, etc. This just started happening today, and I've had the phone since it first came out.  Any suggestions on how to correct this?  Thanks!

    Yeah I went to the 3 store and they said that it costs if they find it's a software issue (which I believe isn't fair). However, after sending mine off and having it back exactly the same I headed off to the 3 store and asked to see what they could do for me. Of course, they can't touch Apple phones so they kindly phoned Apple again for me to only say that Apple have NO record of me even sending my phone off even though I have written and e-mail proof. They then said that they replaced my phone in which they didn't. So I spoke to the senior supervisor who said for me to send it off again (yawn) but to be replaced and if it doesn't then I have to e-mail her directly. It's such an annoying issue because I'm still paying for my phone when I can't even use it.
    My advice is, definitely go to the store. Even-though they can't actually replace it there and then or send it off themselves to be repaired but they (should) phone up Apple and help you further. Apple shouldn't be asking you for such an upfront cost without even looking at your phone as it could be another issue.
    That's me up to date. Sending it off tomorrow, hopefully receive a replaced working phone now.

  • Trouble with fill-in PDF

    We are working on creating a fill-in PDF for clients. I've got the form completed, and have sent it to myself (& accessed it using my laptop, a PC) and was able to input my answers & send it back, no problem. But when the boss did the same thing, filled it out on her own computer (a Mac) and sent it back, I am only able to see her answers if I click on the text box following the question. And when I try printing it, I get a blank form (only prints our form's questions, not her answers). What's going on?? Is it a Mac thing?

    This is due to your boss being on a Mac and using Mac Preview to fill out the form rather than Adobe Reader (or Acrobat).
    Preview will break fillable forms every time and that is the number one symptom. You can search the forum if you want. There have been many threads on this.

  • Trouble with Word Mole app

    Disappointed to find that Word Mole doesn't work properly on my new BB Bold 9790.  This is the second handset within  two weeks as it didn't work on that one either!  Worked fine on my old 9700. What happens is the cursor disappears every five levels then reappears on the next.  This may sound silly but is very annoying. Orange aren't interested and say it's a Blackberry problem. Anyone else  had this problem and what did you do about it?

    I have a Bold 9900. Just got it. But when I play Word Mole, after the 5 levels, I don't have a shovel to pick up the veggies. Frustrating! And my supplier dosen't have a clue. What ever happened to Customer Service???

  • Problems with tablesalignment (from Word to PDF)

    Hello,
    Ive downloaded the trialversion of Acrobat because our company needs to make little pdf's out of 40/50 documents and i want to try what program is best for our...
    The thing is: i just cant get the tables right (sry for my bad english ) This problem exist with: Docx, doc, pdf, etc. etc.
    When i have a table, with the upper standardscellsalignment set to 0,1 cm. The tables get messed up when i export it to an PDF. However, when i print it, its normal !!! (???)
    The most upper horizontale lines are gone and the vertical connections arent any good.
    I tried every setting, but i just cant seem to find whats wrong. I also tried 4 other programs, but same problems (also the standard saveoption in word: save word to pdf makes the same error.
    There are 2 weird (part)-solutions: when i dissable the upper standard cell alignment in the table, so set to 0, and then save.... and the problem is gone (but i really need this upper cell alignment).
    Other solution: When i dissable all the collours in the table, it is (almost) oke, but not completly. (but this isnt an option also)
    I inserted  some pictures to give you the full view:
    Picture 1: on the left you see the result when i save it with word tot pdf acrobat, on the right you see the originaldocument.
    Picture 2: An closeup of the problems with the lines.
    Picture 3: The settings in Word, what is causing the problem
    Thank you in advance!

  • Problem with creating/viewing PDF's from InDesign CS3

    I have a problem with our PDF workflow and just cannot seem to resolve it.
    The problem is as follows: My coworker and I (both designers running CS3 on iMac's running 10.5.6 Leopard) work daily on producing documents and graphic layouts.
    Internally we can view and print PDF documents we create just fine with no troubles with the exception of our supervisor, who is running a mac with Tiger operating system. Our office environment is both Mac and PC. On may occasions he cannot print PDF's we create. Many times his prints will contain garbled characters, drop italics and formatting, replace fonts, or just print slowly.
    This problem is also happening to our editor who is offsite. This is a fairly serious problem for her, considering her job relies heavily on being able to view and open PDF files we create. She was able to send a PDF file which shows the garbled mess her printer spit out when she printed. Apparently there were pages upon pages of messy garbled text. When documents do print from her, they are usually very slow in printing, taking up to a minute or more to print each page.
    The sample of what she sent me is attached, and can also be found on my MobileMe iDisk at: http://public.me.com/rlcollier (document entitled Print Results.PDF)
    My question really to the community is obviously what might be causing these problems. Its very frustrating not being able to determine if its something we're doing ourselves thats causing some incompatability or corruption in these files, or if its the users systems themselves. I can say that Debra our editor has can have a garbled mess of a 4 page file from us, and then turn around and print a graphic heavy 90 page PDF with ease from Boeing. Our PDF's seem to be the only ones she struggles with. That being said, my inclination is that its something on our end.
    Any ideas of where to start looking? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and welcomed. Thanks!

    I currently had our editor test printing of some of our files using both Foxit and Adobe Reader (as was suggested) in order to see if either made a difference in her printing ability and here is what she came back with:
    I tried to print out both these pdfs (David's is the one you reworked and Lisa's HESSM-3, both sent yesterday).
    With Adobe:  David's first page printed quickly, but it had errors (part of his pants didn't print, and there's an arbitrary shaded box in the text).  Page 2 didn't print--every time I tried it had a different "offending command" code.  Printing Lisa's HESSM  made it up to page 7 before problems showed up (stock photo only partially printed), and it stopped on page 8 (with the random "offending command" code).
    With Foxit:  Both David's and the HESSM pdfs printed completely and without error...but it took a long time.   David's 2 pages took about 3 to 4 minutes, and HESSM's 16 pages took close to 20 minutes.  The time is in the transfer of data to the printer; the physical printing  goes pretty quickly.
    I cant say that I believe email is the problem, although I cant rule it out. I've tested emailing vs. passing through our workgroup with my supervisor, and it does not make any difference in his ability (or lack of ability) to print our files. He was able to print to a different printer (an HP 4650 as opposed to a 4100) without troubles. He refuses to believe its a printer problem however because PDF files originating from our office are the only ones he has trouble with. Never has he had any trouble with a single PDF file produced from any other source. This is also the case for our editor who only has trouble with PDF files originating from either mine, or my coworkers systems.
    PS: I've attached both files that were referenced by our editor above for viewing/testing.
