Troubled MSI GT783

Anyone please found out the best/latest NVidia gtx580m driver that does not screw up the P1 touch overclock on the MSI GT780 series note book? Or even the best MSI graphics update for this notebook and how to get it? Really would appreciate help. Thanks.

Thanks darkhawk I did sus this along the way however its a bit annoying as I found I had to get the 'do you want to allow this program to make changes' thing every time on start up? Do you think it is normal practice to go with Nvidia's latest game ready driver or do people normally stick with what the machine was originally set up with?
Here's my opinion....
Personally, since I do support here, I'm usually trying new drivers every now and then.....
But on my other machines, I only update drivers if I need to support some new game or something to that effect.
So honestly, I'd stick to a driver that works the way you want, and if you encounter an issue with a game (like say BF4 since that's fairly new), then you might want to consider upgrading the drivers.
I wouldn't bother upgrading ANY drivers other than the video card though. Given the gaming scene, that's the only thing you should really ever need to upgrade.

  • MSI GT783-625US randomly hard boots

    Equipment: MSI GT783-625US
    Purchased: 2012/01/06
Let me start with the events of about 2 years ago, approximately 7-8 months after original purchase... While playing BF3, laptop powered down abruptly and completely. Thinking it was just a fluke, or maybe an overheating problem after playing too long, I hit the power button to boot and diagnose. It ran for a couple of minutes as I checked for good software to use to check temperatures, etc (low demand web browsing), then abruptly powered down again. This time the power button did nothing at all. Tried many iterations of troubleshooting, with and without battery, with and without AC adaptor, and it would occasionally boot for a few minutes. More often, pressing the power button would do nothing at all. After some difficulty reaching MSI, they finally got back to me based on a negative review I posted on a retailer (NewEgg, I think) and we went through the RMA process in which the laptop was repaired.
Now let's fast-forward to a few weeks ago when it randomly powered off while gaming again. This time it came back up and continued to run without any issue.
Fast-forwarding again to yesterday, powered off abruptly, though this time it immediately powered its self back on. It ran for a few minutes before doing the same thing. I started troubleshooting, removing unnecessary software and attempting to determine cause, while the intervals got shorter and shorter. Now it's caught in a death spiral of powering on, off within a few seconds (not nearly enough time to clear BIOS, let alone begin loading Windows), then on again, then off, then on. It's difficult to get it to stop because it literally doesn't stay on long enough to power it off again.
I haven't yet had the opportunity to go through the troubleshooting process with and without battery, with and without AC adaptor, etc... I wanted to start by searching similar complaints and reaching out to the community for potential guidance. It definitely doesn't seem like an isolated issue. It's disturbing and annoying that the same essential thing has happened to this same unit twice. I'm suspecting there's a systematic issue with the power supply on this specific model, which is made especially frustrating with the fact that this was a $2,500 unit new.
In any case, wanted to run this past you guys. I will probably troubleshoot a bit on my own, though this unit contains sensitive financial data and I am hesitant to send it anywhere for repair... If I can't make it work on my own, I am likely to remove hard drives and sell body for parts.
    Any thoughts?

hmm either this could be temperature on cpu is high over 100 degress so laptop shuts itself down to prevent damage and when it is that hot it will remain off and pushing power button wont turn it back on so when it has coold down it will power on but then it will turn off once temperature kicks up to 100 so if this it open a program check cpu temp while laptop is just on and see if you can see cpu temp kicking up if it does that sounds like your thermal paste is worn out and needs to be re-placed with new thermal paste

  • MSI GT783 Odd Lag Issues

So I sent my laptop  back to MSI back in March with a random shutdown reboot issue(it was not blue screening) and I got it back late April and they replaced the 580M GPU with a 675M GPU(same thing with pretty new numbers as far as I have read) and a new Motherboard. So I've had it back and been using it since April 26th, give or take a day with no issues.
About 3 days ago, I began experiencing this odd form of lag with my computer, mainly in games sometimes when dragging windows across the screen. It's almost like the computer is "skipping" I have tried everything I could possibly think of, put older GFX drivers, scanned for viruses, changed all my settings to low in all my games, defraged, disk cleanup. I'm at a loss, CPU-ID and HWMonitor all show great temps, processor speeds are normal, GPU seems normal. Any ideas would be appreciated. As I am completely lost. I went from playing completely normal in the afternoon to this odd "skipping" within a few hours
Computer is MSI GT783-625us MS1761 Motherboard, Intel Core i7-2760QM 2.4mhz processor, Transcend 128GB SSD, and GTX 675M 2GB GPU

AC, I wish I could Game on battery lol & Idle temps are 36c-42c CPU & GPU is 37c-39c on load I max out at 71c GPU & 65c cpu with Crysis 2 on highest setting, cooling has always been a priority for me. Cpu wise everything seems normal, no speed drops of the like, I use CPU-ID, HWMonitor, GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, and NVidia Inspector to monitor to make sure something was not throttling. The only thing that seemed odd was the GPU load not going up and my FPS kept fluctuating betweem 60(capped to monitor) and 43, and thats when this "skipping" type of lag would appear. I've removed new GFX drivers and put older drivers, I've scanned for viruses, ran an HD benchmark, nothing actually seems wrong until I open up a game. Oh, and sometimes I get a message from windows when I open games asking my to turn off aero and change to windows 7 classic desktop which makes ZERO sense considering I have an SSD, 12GB of RAM, and 2GB GFx Card. My windows experience scores are all 7.5, Memtest +86 shows no memory errors, So I'm stumped, Its barely been 3 weeks but I' considering formatting and seeing how that goes. Not sure what else to try.

  • MSI GT783 - Sound / Graphics issues

I bought the laptop a week ago, and am experiencing some strange issues with the laptop. The two games I use it for currently are Eve Online and Skyrim.
Skyrim: Game stutters (freezes for a second or 2, then carry's on). I read in some forum that this is caused by the Nvidia sound drivers. It recommends uninstalling / disabling the Nvidia sound drivers and then installing the latest Nvidia drivers. I tried downloading the latest laptop drivers for the card and disabling / uninstalling the Nvidia sound devices, but the Nvidia installation reports that "No supported device found" when I try to install. When I go to the Nvidia web site and allow the site to auto-detect, I get the message "GeForce GTX 580M detected - Lenovo requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site."
So, right now I am still sitting with the same settings and software that shipped with the laptop.
Eve Online: Also having sound issues with the game. Some of the sounds work and others don't. Some of the visual effects work and others don't.
Any advice please? Machine specs as follows:
    Windows 7, 64-bit (SP 1)

  • MS 6117 v1.1 LX

    Hello,
I am having  trouble MSI MBO, type MS6117 ver:1.1 LX6  (this is on PCB
between 1st and 2nd PCI slot, from top)
PC is unstable  and  so I changed PSU, RAM and CPU with no effect, so I
wanted to flash  BIOS, as  it is rather old, ver 1.1 (of BIOS, not PCB)
On  lower ISA slot among  others it writes
    981211ECN:11D12   S/N:039975
While  booting-up, on top of screen (just  below Award writings (it is Award
    BIOS on  MBO) is displayed
    VMP   1.1 d.c  * MSI MS6117
on bottom of  the screen BIOS  string  is:
    07/29/98-i440LX-W977-2A69JM49C-00
I  did downloaded ALL  versions of BIOS, both Award and AMI, both 1MB  and
2MB version, but every time I  attempted to flash BIOS I got  message
"wrong size" and flashing wouldn't go  on.
Latest  versions of BIOS on MSI site are:
    v2.5 - Award, 1  MB
    v3.2  - Award, 2MB
    v1.4 - AMI, 1MB
I have downloaded  manuals,  but they are for PCB ver.1.0, mine is 1.1
For   instance, above jumper JMODE1 (which is aligned with lowest PCI  slot)
at the middle of BIOS chip I have jumper marked J2, which  is 90 set
verticali,  as opposed to mentioned JMODE1 jumper which  is horizontal, and
furthermore, J2  jumper isn't mentioned in manuals  for version 1.0 of PCB
I hope someone will  be so kind and e-mail me latest BIOS and manual for my
    version  of MS6117 MBO.
    Thank you in advance

  • [MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR] Trouble

    Hello,
I have some serious trouble with my pc, my system specs are:
    -Unlocked Amd 2400+ (AXDA2400DKV3C from August 21, 2002)
    -Msi K7N2 delta-ilsr
    -Palit GeForce FX5900XT
    -Std. 512mb pc2700
    -Std. 512mb pc3200
    -More stuff
The problem is that I can't change the multiplier. If I change the multiplier from 15x (standart) to for example 13x, the system won't boot. Than I have to put a jumper at the 100mhz fsb setting, then I must change the multiplier back to by h/w & save the settings. So I am only able to change the fsb, but not the multiplier
Anywone who know's a solution for this problem?
    Thanks,
    Sape

  • MSI GE60 2OE - blocked, Win 8.1 trouble

    First of all, Hello everybody!
I'm in big trouble with my MSI, I got stuck and don't know what else to do. I have been trying to fix for three days, looking for information, I have read most of sticky post and searching in the forum and I haven't found any working solution.
I purchased my GE60 2OE about two months ago. I have been used it happily since first day with Win 8.1
I installed a mSata SSD and removed the old hard disk in order to make a clean install, then I started to install Win 8.1 but I cancelled it just after the installer formats the hard disk (I was installing it on the mSata) in the same installer I erased the partitions created so I could restart the installation from the beginning, but when I cancelled and restarted the installation the problem was there:
The laptop starts and stops just at the beginning, with a blank screen. When I restart and press F12 or supr, or F11 for selecting boot device, a single line appears but I can't get into the bios neither select any device. I have discovered, that removing any hard disk and starting only with the Usb with Win 8.1 installer, first appears the blue windows logo, after that a blue screen appears: "your pc got into a problem and needs to restart..." "acpi bios error" and immediately reboots in a loop with the same thing. May be it's a error with the uefi Bios and Win 8.1
The current bios version: E16GCIMS.517 (I updated it, I think it was fine, installation went OK and I restarted the laptop twice)
The set up in the bios was AHCI, and UEFI.
Also I remember just before the installation I changed not to display the msi logo, just for trying what happened.
Well, I have tried with many rescue bootable Usb, linux distributions, and none of then starts, it just freezes at start with a blank screen.
I can't get into the bios, even I can't flash it, I have tried with bootable usb with bios flashing and nothing.
I have read that clearing the CMOS may help, but I can't find any jumper or button in the laptop, I have tried to unplug AC, disconnect the motherboard power for few minutes, etc. and no results.
I don't know what else I can do. Please, any different point of view or any help would be welcome.
    Thank you very much!

  • Trouble installing a *.msi file on a folder using Windows 7

I'm having trouble installing a *.msi file created under Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2005 on a Windows 7 machine.  The problem occurs when I attempt to provide a directory for installation, but the installation wizard always defaults to the C: root
folder.  I can always move the created files and folders from the *.msi wizard to a directory of my choosing and run the tool
successfully.  But, I'm confused has to why the *.msi wizard always defaults to the C: root.
I have tried running the *.msi file in administrative mode using the various published methods but none of those methods are made available, in fact they are all disabled.  I.e. right click the *.msi file has a disabled "Run as Administrator"
option.  The properties under the *.msi file to "Run As Administrator" is also disabled.  And running the *.msi file under msiexec as also proven
    unsuccessful.

    Hello Marco,
From your description, this issue is related with the .msi file, i am afraid it is beyond the scope of our support, this current forum is used to discuss and ask questions about .NET Framework Base Classes (BCL) such as Collections, I/O, Regigistry, Globalization,

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Can you try different power supply? Either PSU gone bad or the graphics card, as PC crashing(restarting etc) upon installing vga driver is the sympton of bad card or PSU.
Also if possible try the card in different PC

  • MSI 270X Gaming troubles!(black screen on boot/Fan speed on max)

Hello. I bought a brand new videocard - MSI 270X Gaming. But I got troubles with the computer boot. I start the computer, i got the greenting sound of Windows 7(everything's work), but i don't have anything on the screen - pitch black! And the fan speed is max. That's it!!! In order to make it work, I'm suppose to unplug the card from the PCI-e slot and put in back in. When i do this, it work fine... until the next time I have to turn on my computer. Again the same story. Only removing and putting back the card in the PCI slot works. I updated my MB Bios to latest ver. - don't work. Clear CMOS - don't work.
To make sure the problem is in the card, not in the PC, i'v putted another videocard and it's working nice
So guys if you have any ideas how to make this card work fine, please tell me. My other option is to return it to the store!

  • Which MSI TV card and sound troubles

    Hello all,
Hereby my first posting. Seems to be a lot of knowledge here on MSI TV-cards. I have a MSI Mega PC 180 with a TV card. I was wondering which TV-card this is, as it looks as the following: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/multimedia/mut/pro_mut_detail.php?UID=342, but it says in my configuration screen that it is a 8606. I have also mentioned that I would like to order the TV @nywhere card when I had purchased it. Can anybody tell me which card I have?
I'm asking this, because I have sound troubles with this card. I can receive TV channel images, but the sound does plok....plok....plok....plok.   So I would like to know if these beta drivers that are on this forum should help. I have tried them once, but with no success.
I do not use a sattelite receiver of VCR or anything. I'm connected through the dutch tv-cable network.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Well, that is what it says in the Mega 180 manual, and one can hope that MSI is telling the truth.
So, go to the very top of this page, click on download and go get the latest drivers and MSIPVS for the 8606.
The card must be connected to your soundcard (even if integrated) either by the external line-out of the card to a line-in for the sound, or from the card's internal connector to one on the soundcard/mobo.
And the player (MSIPVS) must be told which input point you used (line-in, CD-in, Aux etc).

  • MSI MegaPC 865 PRO Troubles...

    Hello All from Oztralia!
I am having some troubles with a MSI MegaPC 865 PRO, that I'm setting up for our showroom. Essentially, what I assume to be the InstantOn Fancy LED stuff isn't happening. I press the A/V Button on the front, the MegaPC beeps once, the MEGA logo comes up, and then it beeps again. From there, nothing happens. The Volume bar on the LED panel scrolls from side to side, but that's it. Putting an Audio CD or DVD yeilds nothing either.
Other than that, the system seems to go like a train in PC mode.
    It's Specs are:
    Intel P4 3.0 GHz
    1x Amicroe 512MB DDR 400Mhz RAM
The MSI TV Tuner Card (Philips Decoder(?), Conexant Chipset)
Onboard Video, Sound, Network, Modem, Etc.
If anyone can help us out with this Fancy LED thingo, I would be in your debt. Because, it kinda bites when something billed as being this fantastic thing doesn't work properly, customers kinda lose interest. Thanks in advance!

I followed the destructions straight from the MSI Software Guide. I installed the InstantOn software on a fresh 200 Gig SATA, then installed XP Home SP2.
As for installing MCE, I would, but my boss would like to see the MSI box working like it's meant to, as in the A/V button working and everything. I think I'll use MCE for the next one though.
Cheers fellas, for the replies that is.
MODIFICATION: Oh, and the TV card came with the MSI as an option. Surely it would work, otherwise why ship it as an option? Where can I find out if it's compatible?
