Troublemaking with flash site + chrome

Hi
I finally got my site up and running. it's a completely flash-based site.
when I visit it with Google Chrome, for some reason, the site is "squeezed" into the window size - my site is much longer than that so that's not good at all.
I've tried with Safari and Firefox and they don't give me that problem at all.
I'm not an expert on programming, but when I published the html I made sure that the 'no scale' is on.
Does anybody know why it happens in chrome, and if there's a way to fix it through the html file?
thanks.

Try the following
close all browser windows and open Windows Explorer
in the address bar type %appdata%\Adobe
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
in the address bar type %appdata%\Macromedia
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
Now try again to change any Flash Player settings.

  • Problem with Flash Sites...

I've installed Flash CS3 and when I go to sites that have
Flash activated, they report to me that Flash 8 is not installed. I
follow the link to adobe and reinstall Flash player (have done this
several times). Flash installs and the movie runs just fine. But
then when I go to the site in question, the whole thing happens
    again.
I thought it might have been the QuickTime Flash track
settings, but just tried that to no avail. I'm thinking it might be
related to the application mappings for flash files trying to run
Flash CS3 instead of the player, but that's just a guess.
Anyone see this? I tried a couple of google searches and
    nothing of value.

Nope, I understood completely, as indicated in my response. I
was GUESSING the problem was CS3, you answered that. but I HAVE
repeatedly, as stated, installed the FLASH PLAYER... the flash
movie on the Adobe website plays fine after playing. Hurray! But
EVERY OTHER FLASH SITE I VISIT does not work, including the Adobe
site if I leave and return.
ESPN.com is one. Walmart.com is another. ESPN says install
Flash 8. Walmart says install the latest. They both link to the
current version 9 on adobe's site. I install, all installs ok,
return to the sites and nothing.
This was all working just a few weeks ago.

  • Problem with Flash in Chrome

Recently my Flash has been acting generally weird. I cannot view certain flash videos, although youtube works, and Flash is not allowing me to set websites store data, making it impossible to use many flash-dependent websites. When I attempt to fix this with the Flash global settings manager, it simply does not save my choices, and does not even let me click the "Allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer", which is what I need to fix it. Also, even if I make sure I am signed in, every time I navigate to the Global Settings Security page, it seems to log me out. Any help with allowing Flash to save my settings, or why videos aren't working in Chrome?

  • Any recommendations or templates for User authentication with Flash sites?

Looking to register, validate email registration and autheticate users to restrict access to individual accounts.  Does anyone have recommendations or templates?  It seems there would be a template out there that is generic for this purpose.

  • Some Flash Sites are not displayed with Flash Player 9

    Hello everyone,
After having upgraded to Flash Player 9 I cannot view some
flash sites on either FF or IE.
I have checked around with other users also and they cannot
    see them either.
Although the page seems to be loading with title etc. it
remains blank or it shows a blank block where it is supposed to be
    the flash movie.
The problem is that it only happens to dynamic flash sites
that load text and images from external documents.
With Flash Player 8 they worked just fine.
The problem is that it is our company's page so we want to
have it up and running for everybody.
You can check the page here:

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

When a customer's business website goes down after installing
Flash Player 9 he just wants the site back up. First I had to
    figure
out that they installed the Flash 9 player and then I had to
go to the Swish site to find out that Swish files won't run right
    on
the Flash 9 player unless they get patched first. After
running the downloaded patch on all the swfs on the site (yes
    uploaded
correct files and cleared the cache) there were still odd
things happening. I didn't have time to analyze why this was so, I
    just
had to put the site back up and fast. Now that I have that
site back up (I have others that will need fixing too, no doubt), I
will go back and test everything again with Swish.
There are a whole lot of hours being lost over this
Swish/Flash9 player issue. Regardless of who's fault it is, there
    are many
    Flash sites down now.

  • Reloading swf for flash site

    Hello,
I am using an old version of flash (Flash 5 because im too
poor to buy the new one)
I have created a flash based web-site that uses load-movie
    for each page.
My problem occures with updated material. After I update a
page (the swf file) and upload it, and then try to view it, the new
information is not displayed. (the old page is still shown)
Are the SWF files stuck in the cache or something like that?
Is there a solution to this problem?
    Please help!!
    Thank you.

    I use FireFox.
I have done some looking around and have found that this is a
common problem with flash sites. There seem to be many ways to
prevent the browser from saving the swf in its cache.
A few such ways are listed here

  • Errors on my web site started with Flash Player Release a few days ago (Mar 28, 2012)

    Hi,
I have a Flash based video player on my website.  This was designed and implemented based on an article vy Lisa Larson-Kelley.  It has run flawlessly for several years.  But, when I installed the lastest release of Flash Player a fedw days ago (Mar 28, 2012), I am now getting really annoying issues with the Flash Video Player.
I expect that I will need to place insturctions for users on how to roll back their version of Flash Player, since this latest version is broken.
But, many of the people who visit my site are not tech oriented (they are mostly friends and family, so, I don't expect that they will really roll back their version of Flash player.
I am 100% certain the issue is the latest version of Flash, since these errors never occurred until I installed the latest version.
On my work laptop, I have an older version of Flas (10.x.x) and this probelm does not happen.  On my desktop PC at home, I have an older version of Flash 11 installed, and this problem does not happen (in IE9).  The version of Flash PLayer 11 where the issue does *not* occur is 11.1.102.63.
On that same desktop PC, if I use Chrome, (which automatically defaults to the latest version of Flash which is 11.2.202.228, I get the problems.  So, there is no question that the issue is with the latest version of Flash and not my hardware or drivers.  I get the same problems on three different computers.
My website has a username and password.  If someone from Adobe wants to replicate the problem send me an e-mail and I will send you the username and password.
The videoplayer on my website is at this url:  http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingFlashVidPlayer/VideoPlaylist.html (but, you will need the username and password).
The issue is that sometimes (not always) when you select a video to play, inistead of the video loading into the panel as it should (sized as 1025 x 578), instead, all you see is the control skin.  The video begins to play, but all you get is the audio.  It looks like this:
You can recover from this error by using the skin control to make the image full screen, but, the video looks poor at fulls screen, because it is created at 1024 x 578.  You can then get the correct size by returning from full screen, but, I don't want the pepole who visit my cif\deo playet to have to go all through that.  Especially since most won't even know enough to try making the video full screen.
This doesn't happen for every video on my web site, but, once it *does* happen once...it will happen for every video selection you make.
This is unacceptable, and it absolutely a function of Flash version 11.2.202.228.
Adobe:  Please fix this bug as soon as possible.
I've implemented an HTML5 based video player and have begun populating it with mp4 versions of my video clips, but, quite honestly, the playback using HTML5 is much worse than with Flash.  I encoded the clips in the HTML5 player with the same Variable Bit Rates as in the F4V clips, and, in the HTML5 player, there are missed frames, and the audio can get out of sync.  So, I *want* to keep using my Flash Based video player, but...if Adobe doesn;t fix this, I will just dial down my VBR till I find one that is slow enough to play in HTML5 and ditch Flash.
My HTML5 video player is here:
    http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingNewVideoPlayer/NewVidPlayer_option1_jth.html
(again you need the username and password to use it, send me an e-mail and I will give them to you, I just don't want to post them in an open forum).
Here is a bitmap of the page:  It is quite snazzy looking and is based on an excellent class from Chris Converse at Lynda.com.  But, even though it is 'snazzy looking' the HTML5 player performs poorly on an under-powered machine (like my work laptop).  It uses 100% CPU and misses frames and the audio loses sync.  The same videos encoded with the same VBR for Flash (F4V) play great, *except for the new issue described above!!!!)
I Adobe can fix this issue with Flash Player 11.2.202.228  ASAP, else, I will  have to 'downgrade' to an HTML5 based video player, that, quite honestly does not perform as well as Flash.
If you want to reproduce the problem contact me at my e-mail address: [email protected] and I'll send you the username and password.
You can then prove that the problem does not exist with prior version of Flash player (before 11.2.202.228) but *does* exist with this latest buggy release.
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks.
I sent the username and PW to you and Chris.
    Cheers,
    John

  • High CPU usage on sites with flash content

    I have a 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, Windows XP Pro SP2 machine.
When I visit sites with alot of flash content with Firefox 3
or IE or Chrome my CPU goes to 80-90% and stays there.
I uninstalled flash player and reinstalled the latest
version, but with no fix to the problem. Don't seem to have any
    virus/spyware on my system.
Uninstalling Flash player on each of the different browsers
seems to fix the problem - visiting the same sites, I don't get
    huge CPU usage.
Any ideas what underlying thing might be causing excessive
CPU usage in all my browsers when visiting flash sites?

To make clarifications for my previous post (some people emailed me saying that the link says nothing about cpu hogging or excessive cpu usage), you may not visit the LINK previously provided and instead follow the steps given below.
I would also like to point out my kind of problem that these steps successfully solved. The problem was this:
The first time I start up a browser (IE, FF, Opera, or Chrome) and visits a website with flash player files running on it, the performance of my
computer is smooth and fast for the first 2 or 3 minutes. But afterwards, the CPU usage meter just suddenly shoots up from below 10% to a shocking
100%! And there was not other program opened, except the browser; and I was only visiting one website ( e.g., Youtube).
It then clearly indicates that flash player is the culprit, since I have already run windows updating, spyware and antivirus scanning, defragmenting,
browser cookies and cache clearing, junk cleaning, and drive checking. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash players, which was actually
a good thing except that during that time I have not yet known about the next 4 steps (given below).
If you have the same problem, you might try th following:
NOTE: Close your browsers and any other running programs and opened windows first.
STEP 1: Navigate your way to this folder: Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash
STEP 2: Right-click over the file ‘Flash10a.ocx’ and choose ‘PROPERTIES’.
STEP 3: In PROPERTIES, choose the ’SECURITY’ tab > Click on the ‘EVERYONE’ account or your own Windows account profile, and the button called 'EDIT’ and then tick the box called ‘ALLOW FULL CONTROL’ and also choose your own Windows local account name to have full control.
STEP 4: Repeat this process for the file ‘FlashUtil10a’.
Open a browser and check the performance of your CPU.
    PS:
The example here indicates that the flash player version is 10; however, you can still use the steps for lower versions. For instance,
if the version of your flash player is 9, look for all files named FlashUtil9a (disregard the extensions).
Also, the Folder Directory is applicable for Vista users. The file directory structure of your drive C:\ may be different if you are using other windows OS version. You just have to search the location of your Flashplayer.
    To:
montian and franky --- i'm so glad this procedure helps you with your prob!

  • Installing Flash Player with new Google Chrome

hello, i need help. i decided to try out the new google
chrome and it works really well, but the flash player is not
updated...so i've been trying to do so but its either my computer
won't let me or somethings wrong.
i can put the "install flash drive" thing or button on my
desktop..i press it. it asks to run it and i do. it looks like its
installing but then it completes and just says close. i press close
and nothing happens... i go back to say youtube and it didn't work.
whats going on? can you help me?

Technically since it's still in beta it's unsupported.
However, if you have a previous Flash Player PLUGIN install on your
system, then installing Chrome should just pick up that plugin.
So if you had Firefox already, with the Flash Player 10
plugin working, you wouldn't need to do anything.
But if you only had IE with Flash, then you only have the
Flash Player ACtiveX control, not the plugin. And chrome won't work
with that. At that point if you have install issues with the plugin
you should actually contact Google (because it's beta..) if they
have Flash Player issues they'll work with us directly to address
    them for their final release.
Now, if SOME sites work, like youtube, then you do NOT have a
Flash Player install problems. Rather, sites that do not work have
a Flash Player DETECTION problem, and you should inform them of
    this as well.
You can file chrome bugs here:
    http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/
That all said, I have seen some chrome Flash Player
workarounds out there, though they use a somewhat extra-legal
download of the player. So I won't mention them here. But I'm sure
you could find them if you need one..

  • Chrome, Firefox, IE all crash when leaving page with flash

       Hi,
I am running XP with SP 2 on a Intel Core Duo Dell machine. These are coporate machines. I've had two in the past two weeks and both are giving me the same error.
After installing the latest flash player, all browsers are able to load a flash page. However, when leaving that page for another, all browsers stop responding. They don't crash, they merely freeze.
Chrome indicates that the flash plugin has crashed and would I like to terminate it. The others simply stall.
       I've uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted.. etc.
Interestingly enough, a fellow coworker who appears to have the same machine as I, does not have this problem.
Any ideas on how to debug this ?
       Thanks
       J

i seem to have the same problem too....
chrome tells me that Shockwave plugin has become unresponse then says its crashed....
Firefox becomes unresponsive (i've left it in that state for quite a while..result nothing)
i uninstall flash using the uninstaller provided from adobe (or from add and remove programs, tried both options) and browsers run perfectly fine... of course access to flash content lost since i need the plugin...!
I'm running Vista Home Edition SP2
    antivirus - AVG Free
particular websites that i use (all of them with flash content crash!!!) and that crash EVERY time - youtube, bbc.co.uk, facebook, gmail, f1-live.com, all sites with flash crash!!
i've tried everything i could find on firefox forums, chrome forums, and here... nothing works... now i'm gonna revert to flash 8 and try... hopefully adobe will respond to this problem... its not jus one or two who are facing this problem...!!

    Hi All,
I've run into problems with Flash Player 10,0,45,2. In IE 8, FF 3.6.3 and Google Chrome (which I downloaded as a last ditch measure), some websites (such as youtube) work fine. Other sites such as wimp.com I get an empty box. I've reinstalled flash, but haven't seen much else in these forums to try to figure out what the problem is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Win8.1/Chrome 64bit: NPAPI Flash Player crashes on every page with Flash content

    Hi,
Chrome 64bit (beta+) crashes on Win8.1 64bit, if I use the NPAPI Flash Player (v15 beta or v14 stable) and open a website with Flash content.
    More details here:
    https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=402262

Turning off NPAPI in Chrome 64-bit will be a very bad move. I'm using a Windows 7 Setup, with a Core2Quad 65 nm CPU and a pathetic Geforce GT 8500 GPU that is basically worthless. PPAPI  flash betas are available as a standalone now at this point, but I have done lots of side by side comparisons, and the PPAPI plugin is absolute garbage compared to the far superior Netscape architecture based plugin. I'm not the only one saying that. I have found loads of forums, and instruction videos online to fix Chrome video playback on youtube for instance. I have to install "Magic Actions for Youtube" addon for chrome so that I can disable HTML5. then I have to go into the plugins menu on chrome and disable pepper flash. I keep the 64 bit flash betas regularly updated this way, and I am getting peak performance. Once in a blue moon it will crash, but I think that is Google's fault. HTML5 should not be the default option in youtube. Compared to Flash, it does not have great GPU acceleration ability, and HTML5 in 64-bit doesn't even perform superior to 32 bit web browsers, where as 64 bit flash is a leap forward, as long as it's the NPAPI version, that is. Problems I have with the HTML5 and also Pepperflash are very similar.   The audio is out of sync with video, and the cpu is maxed out from memory leaking. I'm skipping frames and seeing glitches left and right. The seek functions in pepperflash never work right on youtube, you have to click an inch before wherever you want the video to play. On and on. Pepper flash has audio crackle. You can't get rid of the crackle from pepper flash or HTML 5. Yet, with NPAPI 64 bit flash beta in 64 bit chrome canary it plays PERFECTLY. once in a while I have it crash, which i think is the fault of the fact that I have to use an add on to force off HTML5. Why would I want html5, when flash NPAPI  64 bit produces superior picture quality on all quality settings. It's better in every conceivable way. Shame on Google for not putting more care into 64-bit flash on 64-bit Chrome. It couldn't possibly be a more important deal! You can tell pepperflash and HTML 5.0 are an afterthought. It's only youtube playback quality. why would that matter to google? OMG...
While I'm at it, I have one other issue that blows my mind. Adding command line flags in Chrome 64-bit (Canary) in Windows. Why do we have to add them through a shortcut in the "target" line? The target line runs out of space after 3 or 4 commands! I wish they would update Chrome Canary to allow for unlimited command lines to be added. It should be an option to add Command Lines on the About:Flags screen. I am so disappointed in these two glaring issues. It keeps me up at night.
