Troubles connecting an Airport (2011) to ATT 2wire 2701 ADSL..help?

I can't seem to get the Airport to function as my router ect   I have ATT Internet DSL service and a 2wire 2701 modem/router. There is no way to disable the wireless on the 2 wire..
I set up the 2wire in bridge mode, set the airport up to function as the PPPoE connection and it wont negotiate and establish the Internet connection through the 2wire. However while in bridge mode I did set up my Mac as a PPPoE service direct connected to the 2wire and it did connect and provided Internet.
What am I doing wrong ?

Having trouble connected via airport. Have done it day in day out for a year. Nothing has changed.
Now it won't recognize my password. It recognizes everyone else in the office. Just not my machine anymore.
I can get internet via tethering to an iphone but not my machine.
    Any thoughts?
    Yes, I've restarted...

I'm curious, is the router over there an apple router or third party? Are they using WEP encryption or WPA?
You may want to start by removing all your 'airportnetwork passwords' from you keychain.

  • Newbie : Trouble connecting to Airport from Win 8.1 on Macbook Pro

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 2013 and an Airport time capsule 2TB . I have win 8.1 installed via boot camp but am unable to connect to airport from windows as I get a "The capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network". No problem connecting to the airport from the OSX partition. Also no problem connecting to a different wireless "N" network. I did install the windows drivers from Apple. The network is seen from windows byt has an x marked against it with the above message. Can some one help?
    Arun.

Hmm... No answers yet I am still having this problem. I can't be the only one using Windows 8.1 on a 2013 Macbook Pro trying to connect to an 2013 Airport Time Capsule. Am I? Maybe I should play the lottery ;-). Any way if there is any one else successful in the above mentioned set up. I'd like to see if I can mimick their set up. Can some one verify if I am using the right driver to begin with? I have version 6.30.223.170 from broadcom corporation. If that is not the version to use, can some one please let me know which one to use. I can also let you know my settings if that does not work. I can do that by private email and post a consolidated reply if I am able to solve the problem. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all.

  • Trouble connecting via airport

Hey everyone, so I am having trouble connecting to my wireless router. Everytime I want to connect I have to change my IP address, any solutions to this?
    Thanks.

What do you mean you have to change your IP address? Can you give more details of what address you are getting (169.254.x.x, 10.0.1.x, 192.16.x.x)? How you are changing it and what are you changing it to exactly? What error messages are you getting? What router are you using?

  • Trouble connecting to Airport Extreme

I connect to the internet via my landlords wireless modem. This connected fine to my extreme for a while. They recently switched service providers and my extreme is no longer working. I get the constant flashing yellow light, and it never discovers in the Airport Utility. I hooked it up via an ethernet cable, and put all the settings in (correct name and password for the wireless modem) and it says it cannot connect still, and continues with the blinking amber.
I also have an express, which is showing a green light, but i'm not connected to that either.
Need lots of help, tried everything I know and what has worked for me in the past.

What's strange is my laptop is just not recognizing the Extreme at all, just a constant blinking yellow. That's where my problem starts. I can only get to the setup when I hook in through the ethernet.
It might help if you perform a factory default reset on the AirPort Extreme (AEBS) and then start over with the configuration.
To do the factory default reset, you would pull the power plug from the back of the AEBS. Then hold in the reset button and keep holding it in while you plug the power back in to the AEBS. Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly and then release the reset button.
The AEBS is now broadcasting a default wireless network with name like +Apple Network xxxxxxx.+ You need to click the Airport icon at the top of the Mac's screen and look for that network so you can log on. There is no security, so it should be easy to connect. If you are not connected to this default wireless network, AirPort Utility will not "see" the AEBS when it scans for the device.
Now you can try to configure the AEBS using wireless.
I prefer to temporarily connect an ethernet cable from the Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AEBS and then open AirPort Utility. You can disconnect the ethernet cable once you have the AEBS configured.
When you open AirPort Utility, click on Continue to follow the guided setup. On about the third page of the configuration, you'll choose the "Join a wireless network" option. This is normally used for an AirPort Express for AirTunes, so as I said, the "join" configuration may not work for an AEBS.
If it does work, all you will be able to do is connect a hard drive or printer to the USB port. The AEBS will not perform any routing functions when it "joins".
The AEBS is really designed to be a router and it needs an ethernet internet connection to be able to perform that function.

  • TS1398 I am traveling tomorrow and I have had trouble connecting to airport wifi...why?

I was at the airport in Atlanta and could not connect to the public wifi.  I chose that one and the next page had no other info or entry...help!

Airport wifi sometimes requires you to sign up/create an account and then usage is sometimes limited for a certian amount of time. Its also not always free, even though it may be listed as public. If directs you to another page, then there should be other instructions on how to procede.

  • Trouble connecting to Airport after installing latest security update

Hi, I have just spent an hour with a level 2 SBC DSL tech and they could not resolve my problem. The problem is this: After installing the latest security update released on March 13 for OS 10.3.9, I can no longer securely connect to my airport. It may have something to do with the keychain because this has happened several times before, most recently after the previous security update about 2 weeks ago. Usually after much playing around, I get a window asking for permission for my new network settings to access the keychain. Once I say yes, all works fine. This time, I am not getting that prompt. Even though I have a full signal showing I am connected to the base, it will not pick up and IP address. Finally, the SBC tech had me disable the wireless key on the desktop pc that is the primary computer on the system and immediately my connections works. If I enable the wireless security key, I lose the connection. As I am completely open to hackers with the wireless security disabled, this is a big problem. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can anybody help me?! Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi, my first post here!
I too experienced this problem this evening, after applying the latest security update to Panther. I had verified that the wireless base station was working correctly and that it's WEP key hadn't become corrupted. There were no error messages after re-starting the Mac, just no IP number via airport.
The keychain utility would hang if any attempt was made to alter the password for WEP, and the airport utility hung too. I used Disc Utility to verify permissions, which found dozens of errors - haven't done any maintenance for months - and fixed them.
On re-starting, Airport was 'OFF' so turned it on, was asked to allow access to keychain, and all is working again.
Thank you to those of you who posted the suggestion about permissions, you certainly saved my evening!

  • Fully Connected to AirPort Extreme, But With No Internet (PLEASE HELP!)

I have spent my Labor Day trying to figure out what is wrong with my wireless connection to no avail. I am entirely frustrated and would appreciate any helpful advice that can be offered.
    Here's the deal:
Yesterday afternoon, the two computers on my wireless network (an iMac PowerPC G4 and a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop) lost connection to the Internet. We had lost power earlier in the day, but didn't have any issues immediately after it was restored. A few hours later, it just stopped.
Today, I started troubleshooting to figure out how to fix it. The Dell had no trouble finding the network and connecting, but it was only connecting "locally." Same with mine. We've also got a Nintendo Wii connected wirelessly, but it was also not working. Lastly, we have an HP Photosmart C4280 printer plugged into the AirPort's USB. Despite not being able to get on the Internet or restore Wi-Fi to the Wii, we are still able to print without issue (from both computers).
At one point, I got Internet back on my iMac, but I kept messing around with the network settings in the hopes of getting everything back to normal and lost it again. I've been mainly playing around three different settings: the AirPort Admin Utility (changing Channels in the AirPort tab, checking boxes in the Network tab, etc.), the AirPort Setup Assistant (messing around with the Wireless Security), and the Network Control Panel (clicking things I don't understand in the TCP/IP tab, etc.).
At first, I thought the issue was with my security settings, so I tried setting up the AirPort without a password, and still could not connect with the iMac, Dell, or Wii. In a last-ditch effort, I went out and bought a Linksys Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router, which restored the Internet to the iMac, Dell, and Wii. Problem is, I love the AirPort (and do not want to sacrifice wirelessly printing through its USB).
I am completely frustrated! If anyone has any suggestions whatsoever, please help me out. It would be greatly appreciated!!
    Have a great night!
    TK

Ok, I'm going to assume that you are using the newer AirPort Utility and not the older AirPort Admin Utility that originally came on the CD with your AEBS.
If this is correct, the following would be the basic settings:
Either connect to the AEBS's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, using the AirPort Utility in Manual Setup, check these settings:
    AirPort - Base Station tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Base Station Password: <enter the desired administrator's password, the default is "public">
    o Verify Password: <re-enter the desired password>
    o Set time automatically: (optional)
o Allow configuration over Ethernet WAN port: (optional)
AirPort - Base Station - Base Station Options
    o Contact: (optional)
    o Location: (optional)
    AirPort - Wireless tab
o Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    o Radio Mode: 802.11b/g compatible
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Wireless Security: None
AirPort - Wireless - Wireless Options
    o Multicast Rate: 2 Mbps
    o Transmit Power: 100%
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
o Use Interference Robustness: Not enabled
    Internet - Internet Connection tab
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure: Using DHCP
    o DNS Server(s): (optional)
    o Domain Name: (optional)
    o DHCP Client ID: (optional)
o Ethernet WAN Port: Automatic (Default)
o Connection Sharing: Share a public IP address
    Internet - DHCP tab
o DHCP Range: <leave default or enter desired range>
o DHCP Beginning Address: <leave default or enter desired beginning address>
o DHCP Ending Address: <leave default or enter desired ending address>
o DHCP Lease: <leave default or enter desired lease duration>
    o DHCP Message: (optional)
    o LDAP Server: (optional)
    Internet - NAT tab
o Enable default host at: (unchecked)
o Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol: (unchecked)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
    AirPort - Wireless tab
o Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal or WPA2 Personal
o Wireless Password: <enter desired wireless encryption password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter desired wireless encryption password>

I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. I am able to connect to other networks but not my own. It is not an issue with the service/router because other devices connect fine. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport. Last time it happended I called apple and the suggested I wipe my HD and reinstall everything. I did and it did not work. One day I turned my laptop on and it connected no problem. Now it has kicked me off again. I tried resetting my IP address but that does not work either! Has anyone had this problem?

    Try this:
Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.
    Apply this.

I'm not sure how to post a message. I hope this might interest someone. The situation; 3 floors,I am having trouble with an an Airport Extreme, 802.11n on the top floor and a Mac Pro 3.1 on the bottom floor. Not always but often it has trouble seeing the Airport and making a connection. I have an older Airport Express, would it help to install it? would it work best if it was installed in the same room? should it be installed half way in between? Get another Extreme? The Mac Book Pro on the middle floor can see 11 networks in the neighbourhood if that might be causing a problem or would if I installed the Express. Thank for your consideration.

Thanks for your time ... I appologize for the font and colour, I compossed the question in pages and failed to notice the font colour as grey ... there are a variety of computers of various ages so I think it is using a setting that allows both 5G and 2.4 ... the connection to the Airport is thru a cable modem and cable does run throuhout the house ... maybe those hard wires would be a place to look at ... do you think that putting the 'Express' on the second floor might help ... thanks again ...

  • Trouble connecting Windows 2000 PC to Airport Extreme

I'm having trouble connecting a PC running Windows 2000 to my Airport Extreme Base Station. The PC is using a D-Link wireless USB 2.0 adapter (802.11g) to connect to the internet. The PC would connect without problem when I was using a D-Link wireless router but will not connect with the new Apple base station.
In addition to the Windows 2000 PC I have a Windows XP PC (connected via ethernet), an iBook G4 and an Epson printer connected to the Airport Extreme and they all work without a problem.
Can anyone tell me how to solve my problem with the Windows 2000 machine?
    Thanks.

I am having the same issue; since you did not seem to receive any replies on this forum, am wondering if you resolved the problem; am also wondering if my issue is the distance from my Airport Extreme base to the Windows PC. My next step is going to be to try moving the Apple router closer to the Windows PC and see if that Linksys wireless picks up the signal.

  • Trouble connecting to my Airport (Timecapsule) wireless network from PC

I have a wireless airport network running from a Time Capsule. I know the name and the network password and have no trouble connecting to the network from my 3 Mac computers. However, I recently tried to connect a Toshiba notebook running Windows XP and can't seem to get it to connect to the network. It does see the network and prompts for a WEP password. I enter the password but after about 10 seconds the connection attempt fails. Please help if you have any idea, I am sure this is a simple fix, but I need to access a website that is only available with Explorer 7. Thank you in advance for your help.

The Time Capsule only supports WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Enterprise security not WEP. So I assume that's the issue here.
A quick search suggests that WPA2 is not standard in XP (at least XP SP2) but can be added see [here|http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/expert/bowman_wirelesss ecurity.mspx].
But also see [here|http://tech.ifelix.net/1011.html], [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1622794&tstart=0], and [here|http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/2002.html] which you can work around this with the correct settings on the Windows side.
