Troubles importing and linking media in CS5.5

I am using CS5.5 and having trouble importing media. Importing .mpg or .VOB files (~30mins length, 1GB size) and both cause Prem to hang and not respond. I can leave it for half an hour and still no progress. However, when using a different computer, no troubles.
This is a clean install of CS5.5. Have cleared media cache.
Anyone help?

  • Has anybody tested the import and linking enhancements in RH 9 HTML?

    All,
I am testing a trial version of RH 9. All looks good except I’m not understanding some of the import and linking enhancements. Has anyone tried the new relative path benefit by moving a project or source document? I’ve done both and I get the same results as in RH 8—if the project moves, the links work fine, and when the source document moves, you have to use the “restore to link” feature in order to update the link document. Am I missing something?
Here’s the “what’s new in RH 9” lingo:
RoboHelp 9 saves the relative path, instead of the absolute path, of linked documents. As a result, the links work even when the RoboHelp project and the linked Microsoft Word or FrameMaker documents are moved.
Note: Earlier versions of RoboHelp projects that contain absolute paths of linked documents open normally in RoboHelp 9. While saving these projects, RoboHelp 9 saves the relative path
    Thanks!

Looking again at your first post in the thread, it does state on saving RoboHelp 9 changes the path to being relative. If Linking by Copy then it is an enhancement as it avoids the link having to be recreated if you move the project.
For Create by Reference I would say an absolute path is preferable as it then doesn't matter if the project moves and you are saying that does work. If it is the document that moves, somehow RoboHelp has to be told where.
Sounds like what is wrong is the help not qualifying when the relative link is used. You could add a comment to the help to get that fixed.

  • WMV Won't Import in Adobe Media Encoder CS5

Have several WMV files known to be good (they playback fine in Windows Media Player etc.) but when i try to import any into Adobe Media Encoder CS5 it quickly reports "Error Compiling Movie Unknown Error"
I'm running Windows 7 version of AME. Anyone know a work around? I need to encode these to FLV so they can be easily viewed by most web browsers.

The above links are outdated since in 2010 the only encoder now provided by Microsoft is Expression Encoder 4, and the free version only exports VC-1 files. If you pay $49 to buy Expression Encoder 4 Pro it will convert WMV to H.264 which is natively supported in IE9. Microsoft Expression Encoder doesn't output to Flash. • Trouble importing and playing video in Lightroom 5

I mainly use Lightroom for photos, but I do use it to organize my videos. Lightroom 5.3 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.9.2.
Videos from all of our iPhones import and play perfeclty.
Video from the Nikon D90 will import sometimes, but will rarely play. You can scroll across the preview icon and see the video, but when you click on to play it, it will only play a few seconds of the video but will continue to play the audio.
I have converted the .avi files to .m4v in order to play in iTunes and Apple TV.  I've tried importing the .m4v files to Lightroom as well but always get an error: "Connecting to dynamic link server failed."
Not sure what is going on or what I may be doing wrong.  I've successfully imported the videos from the camera to Aperture. Not sure why I can't get Lightroom to work.
    Thanks for any help.

Exact same problem as well. When I try to import CDs either in iTunes or Windows Media Player I have problems. iTunes will play a track or two, but usually the imports ring in around 755 minutes and change and are corrupt. Windows Media Player has similar issues.
What's strange is that my drive works just fine for burning DVDs, installing software from disc, or watching DVD movies, so I'm a little in the dark. Any ideas?

  • After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder CS5 Both Hang on Start-Up

I've got problems with After Effects hanging when I start it up on my Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz. (OS X 10.6.7 with 20 Gb of RAM). The program starts, but hangs when MediaCore is initialized.
The same thing happens with Adobe Media Encoder CS5, but it hangs when ExporterQuickTimeHost.bundle loads.
I have tried repairing permissions and repairing my hard drive, but neither program has responded.
Anyone have an idea on a way around this for either program?
    Thank you!
    David Biddix

I'm having this issue as well, I've spent all morning researching what the problem is, but nothing is working for me. I deleted everything from my Quicktime folder because I read it could be a codec problem to no avail (thankfully I backed it up beforehand), I don't have a firewall, I can't think of any reason that it would freeze.
I'm running this on a MacBook Pro 15 inch version 10.6.7
Processor: 2 Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I bought this computer two days ago mostly to run AE and I'd really like to get some work done!
My firewall is set to allow all incoming connections.

  • Please help trouble importing and editing songs

i recently lost my itunes library file, then had trouble re-installing itunes after another problem, and now am having a new problem as i am attempting to re-add everything to my itunes library.
i have noticed some files are (seemingly at random) not being added to my library. other songs from the same album, folder, etc are being added as normal, (they are all in mp3 format)but others are just not showing up in the library.
when i tried to drag these files from my folder in windows explorer to itunes, i got the little crossed out circle icon informing me they could not be added. as stated, they are in a compatible format.
with a bit of fiddling about i discovered that if i renamed these files the could be added. but some of these such files do not allow me to edit the information anymore. (when i right click i just see options such as open with, add to windows media player list, etc) but not options to rename or even copy, paste, delete, etc.
any idea what might be going on? this is very strange and extremely frustrating. until the past few weeks i have been so happy with the performance of itunes but it has been absolutely nothing but trouble lately.

I don't have any sure-fire solutions, but I do have a suggestion: rather than opening the whole CS6 project and going through the whole conversion process, try importing just the sequence(s) from the CS6 project into a new CC project. There are a couple of ways to do so: 1) File>Import, select "Import Selected Sequences," then pick the desired ones, or 2) drill down to the project in Media Browser, which will show you it's contents, then drag and drop the sequence(s) into the Project panel.
I found a few bug reports in the same neighborhood. They were all fixed in the release you're using. But each was specific to a particular file type, so you may have hit on a case that we didn't exercise. It could really help us nail this down if you provided one small clip that CC is balking at and, ideally, a CS6 project containing that clip.

  • FCP XML import and linking .r3d

I have a sequence that was originally edited in FCP (7.0) using ProRes proxies created out of RedCine. I remember that in Premiere 5.5 when you imported the XML, premiere re-linked the original .r3d's with all the scale and position attributes.
When I import the XML into Premiere CC it doesn't reconnect the .r3d files.
Did something change with CC or is there something wrong with the XML?

Thank you all for your help. It still leaves a bit of a workflow problem. <br /><br />Basically we have some people ingesting / organizing content and maintaining on a network share. Duplicating the media is slow and moving it all into one volume is not too good either as it breaks all the relationships for others. Re-linking is good, but doesn't work if the material is spread across subdirectories and giving a key to link all the media together looses some of the benefit of having the export from FCP in the first place, it's just as easy to re-make the edit.<br /><br />We are only using cut edits, so this is quite simple. For users on the Mac using FCP and handing off to Premier it works fine, the problem is we want to hand off to Windows Premier. It's ok to run a script over the files to change the XML naming of the <pathurl> which seems to be causing the problem, but how to describe this in the Windows world?<br /><br />Thanks for all the help.... anyone from Adobe with any ideas?<br /><br />The problem as I see it is how to identify Mac OS mounts to a Windows version of Premier on XML import.

  • Font problem in import and link

I'm using RH8 and have a problem with a Word doc I linked. In a numbered list, NumberList2, the font reverts to Times New Roman from Arial 10pt. I attach a pic. I've tried reapplying the style, linking again and again and it's very stubborn. Is there a fix?

    Hi
If this is a Linked Word Document, Try going to File>Project Settings >Next and Click on Edit for Word Document conversion Settings, and
Select Edit and it would prompt you with all avauilable tags along with their Appearance, Example in Word and Robohelp.
Check your tag in the List and Select "Source " in Drop Down of RoboHelp Style.
And try to Select that and observe if the Appearnace or Style is imporved.
Alternately, if you want you can import the Word Doccument and its assocaiated CSS file would be imported too and you can make changes directly to CSS and reapply them.
    Thanks,

  • Trouble Importing and Using a Screencast

    Hello all,
I am completely new to Premiere CC but I'm having some issues. I recently used CamStudio to record a screencast that was 5 minutes long for a client. The video is 1280x720, the frame rate is 50 frames per second and the type is .avi
All I did was open a new project in Premiere CC and keep the default settings. I imported the video and did my edits, but when I exported it I realized that the preview of the clip was actually very accurate. The clip flickers and the mouse jumps all over the place, and when the screen changes (I was taping website navigation) the two different screens seem to blend into one another for a few seconds. It looks terrible and I know it's user error - but I have no idea what to do next.
The interesting this is that the AUDIO that came in with the clip plays perfectly. No errors, and no speeding up or slowing down.
I have exported the file with several different adjustments and presets - and they all show the same playback errors, which leads me to believe the problem is with my import of the file, or how Premiere is handling the file.
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks very much!

Thanks for the feedback. So I checked out the link and I just watched (https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/how-do-i-choose-the-right-sequence-settings). However, when I create a new sequence, my framerate stays at 50 fps. I'll attach a screencast of my steps so you can see what I'm getting and how playback looks. I'm really not sure what the problem is or where to go next?
    http://youtu.be/fAfS8A0bVAM
    - The video shows 20-25 seconds of smooth playback of the original screencast .avi file
    - Then I open Premiere and import the .avi file and create a new sequence - framerate stays the same.
    - When I play the clip, you can see the stuttering problems within preview (even though I have the yellow bar not the red one), and this is exactly how the exported videos look as well.
Please advise - thank you very much!

  • Troubling importing from DVD- "Media Offline"

Hi there. I'm trying to import a nonencoded DVD into Final Cut Pro; it said it did it just fine, but when I removed the DVD the imported media in FCP was marked with a red slash and an indicator that the imported media was "offline." Does this mean that FCP was merely reading the media and never imported it? How do I get it into Final Cut for my use?

Judging from the OP it is assumed that the files were imported successfully and Jack Bauer was able to edit the files with a machine gun etiquette and hand grenade consistency. I think they're just quicktime files on a DVD and not actually an authored DVD with .VOB files. The mention of nonencoded DVD and that FCP imported it just fine are factors that lead me to this conclusion.
I don't think their problem is that the DVD was not properly converted to an editable format but rather the issue of importing files directly from a DVD thereby using the DVD as the source location which is causing the media connection to go offline when the DVD is ejected.

  • Export FCP project and linked media assets

Sorry everyone, I know this is an easy question but I have searched for the answer and am still very confused.  I want to save my FCP project and just the appropriate used media assets in one place so I can send a condensed version of my entire project to someone to further edit.  I know there is an easy way to do this because I have done this before, but I can't remember.
I was confused because I found a number of answers but some of them talked about how afterwards the media files will no longer be able to be tracked by the Final Cut Server?  This is what scared me.

Use FCP's Media Manager to duplicate the project media.  Be sure to include handles if needed.

  • Importing and linking Word and FrameMaker documents

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS1b49059a33f77726-7cd412b3136bfd6ca9e-8000. html

Linking is only possible if you have the Technical Communication Suite. Having RoboHelp and FrameMaker standalone products does not have the linking functionality.

  • Way to Not Import Linked Media?

Is there a way to import a fcp project file without importing the linked media?

I don`t know if this would help, but you can set each machine HD (were you have the capture scratch locally) as a device in FCSrv and let it scan. After that FCSrv will catalog, make proxies and if you upload any FCP file with linked media from that particular device, FCSrv will know that already has that media and will not re-import.
You just have to watch out for paths and names.
And of course you have to have all devices (paths to the each local hd) mounted on FCSrv machine.
This is not very good but I think it will work.
And remember... you can scan just one time or let it scan periodically. So you can scan scratch disk folder for new media and when FCP project with that media is uploaded to FCsrv those medias wouldn`t be copied/duplicated.
    Good Luck

  • Having trouble importing select pictures from a cd to my iphoto library

I am having trouble importing (and viewing) my vacation photos from a cd to my iphoto library. Some of the photos I can view in finder, but when i click on the rest, I get a message that says "Item xxxx.jpg is used by mac os x and cannot be opened". When I tried to import the photos to my library... the ones I could view imported no problem, the ones I couldn't view will not import and I get a message saying "unreadable files: the following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)". I am just sick that I cannot find these photos!!! =( especially since I had them on iphoto before I cleaned out my computer (so I've had them in my library before). Any ideas? I am in desperate need of help! =(
P.S. When I try to move the pictures to my desktop, I get a notice that says, "you may need to enter the name and pasword for the administrator on this computer to change the item named xxxx.jpg"... when I click continue, another message pops up and says, "the item xxx.jpg contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed"

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you have set in the System/CDs and DVDs preferences to do when a disk is inserted? If the option is not set to the Finder do so and see if that will make any difference.
Otherwise boot into Safe Mode and see if you can copy the files from the CD to a folder on the Desktop. Boot back into your normal account and see if you can import. Or import while still in the Safe Mode.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • PLEASE HELP! Trouble importing media used in Premiere CS6 into CC

After infinitely trouble with stability in OSX Premiere CS6, I´ve tried to open my project in CC. I get a dialogue box when importing media with heading "Cannot Link Media" and saying "The selcted file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s). Now, these clips had no issues in CS6, but after installing CC, I cannot open anything in CS6 and CC won´t, as stated, accept my clips. Now, I tried to uninstall CS6 to late reinstall it. But Adobe seems to have removed the installer, anyway I can´t find it. SERIOUSLY!. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. PLEASE HELP!
