Troubles installing cs3 Web Premium

I just got a new computer (MacBook Pro) running OS 10.6.7.  I deactived my Adobe software on my old computer (an older white MacBook which is also running OS 10.6.7), downloaded CS3 Web Premium from the Adobe on-line store (where I originally purchased it) to my new computer and double clicked the Setup icon.  I very briefly see a window saying "Initializing Adobe Setup..", then an installer alert window pops up saying "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue.  Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
Customer Support transferred me to Installation support, which told me they no longer support CS3 installation questions.
What do I need to do to get my CS3 software running on my new computer?
Thanks,
Phil DiPastena

Hi Phil,
I'm sorry you're having problems installing CS3.  Your best bet would be to reprost this question over on the Mac Creative Suite forums.
Thanks,

  • Help! Trouble installing CS3 Design Premium

I have trouble installing CS3 Design Premium. I am using Windows XP. I had to deinstall CS3 after my PC had a little crash. Now I want to install CS3 again. But at the beginning there comes an error message "Setup is already running. You can install only ONE adobe product at the same time. Shut the other installation before starting the installation of CS3."
The point is, there is NO OTHER installation running at the moment - so far as I know.
I tried already the following, but there was the same error message:
    - to start the installation by another user
    - to start it from the protected mode.
    - to start it by desktop installation.
    Please, can anybody help me??
    Thanks a lot!!!!

  • Unable to install CS3 Web Premium on Vista

I recently purchased CS3 Web Premium. When I try to install it, it fails. The message I get is - Error 1310.Error writing to file
C:\Config.Msi\43361.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I am running on Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 1.
I turned off User Account Control and I have reset the ownership and permissions for the ProgramData folder as directed in the forum.
Still can't load the software.  One thing I find strange about this message is that I don't have a Config.Msi folder.  I even tried creating one but that didn't help either.
    Please help!

I still have not been able to get this resolved completely. However, I have been able to get the error 1013 from popping up.
I had originally started off doing these steps from Adobe's site : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401528.html however I had no luck with any of the 3 solutions. I then found this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/ and this seemed to have taken the error 1013 from popping up.
However, now when I go to intall it...it will run through the whole installation process which takes 30 mins!!! To only tell me that all the programs were unable to install and to finish. I thought I was getting somewhere with this and then another road block. I can't believe I've now spent 2 days on this going on three.
I also had downloaded some scan program that states they can get Adobe Software installed and take away the errors by cleaning my system. Wait I'm confused here because my system is BRAND NEW. This program also cost like 40 bucks. I had contacted them wondering how on earth they can claim such a thing on a brand new computer...and that there "scan" had shown my brand new laptop with thousands of errors!!! ???? !!!! They only answered that I needed to buy their software to find out...obviously skipping that option.
So this is my last solution to try to fix the problem...I'm running it right now with like 12 games up and running so we'll see if Speed is the problem. here's the link on that topic. http://www.ask.com/bar?q=C%3A\Config.Msi&page=1&qsrc=2417&ab=2&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vistax64 .com%2Fvista-general%2F187289-c-config-msi-problem.html
Last resort will to call support but after reading all the forums I'm dreading the sound of it...someone had spent 6 hours on the phone with not results only to have NO working programs instead of the pre-version they had in working order. Also I'm not sure that I'll be getting any help...it sounds that you need the most recent version.
If this does not work...I'm seriously considering sending back my brand new laptop back in that it was the ONLY reason why I bought the thing was to be able to work while I was away from home. Apparently, I won't be able to do so...or buy a whole new program or license which to me sound rediculous in that I've spent just like everyone else on here the amount for the software and was told that I could have it installed on two computers as long as they were not being used at the same time. Understood but not seem to be working out that way.

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!

  • How to install CS3 Web Premium on Surface Pro?

The Surface Pro obviously doesn't have a DVD drive...so how do I install the software?  I tried a copy and paste in a USB memory stick, but it won't install without the disc.

if you dont have a usb dvd drive simply copy the disk contents onto a usb portable hard drive that can store the 15 odd gigs off the disks and then click the setup.exe file in the adobe cs folder. It worked for me on my surface pro. You might have to copy the disks' contents all into the same folders so there are no folder duplicates.

In case anyone is still interested in this thread.  I called Adobe tech support and they were able to help me finally get CS3 installed.  The steps I took were kind of messed up because I'd try something and it still wouldn't work and then I'd try something else.  But I think the following was the magic combination that finally worked.  I don't know if this would help anyone else but it worked for me...
I uninstalled all the previously installed CS3 components.  In fact, I uninstalled everything that started with the word "Adobe" on my computer, even Flash Player, just for good measure.
Then I ran the Adobe cleanup script at level 2
I downloaded the script from here...
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
I went into the "computer" window and set it up to show hidden folders.  Click Organize->Folder and Search Options->View. Then click "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
Then I went into C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Adobe and moved all the files in there to a folder on my desktop so there was nothing left in the Adobe folder (I don't think it wouldn't let me move some of the Acrobat files so the tech support guy said to just leave them)
I did the same thing for C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe and moved all those files to a folder on my desktop
Then I deleted all the files from C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roadming\Adobe
I think I ran the cleanup script one more time just for the heck of it.
Next I went to the start menu and on the "Start Search" line I typed "msconfig."  When the system configuration window came up, I went to the "services" tab and checked "Hide All Microsoft Services"  Then I checked "Disable All"  So that disabled everything that wasn't a MicroSoft service.  Then I went to the "Startup" tab and checked "Disable All" and restarted the computer.
Then I went ahead and installed everything fresh off the CS3 DVD and it worked the first time.  No more 1310 errors with the Config.Msi directory.
    Hope this helps someone else.
    Good luck!

  • Can't install or remove Acrobat 8 (CS3 Web Premium for Mac)

I installed CS3 Web Premium on my Mac (Leopard 10.5.1).
All is well, except Acrobat 8 Professional doesn't install. When I mount the DVD and try to install it, it says it's already installed on my computer. Except, it isn't. So, since it thinks it's already installed, there isn't an uninstall option available anywhere.
I've removed the entire CS3 suite, ran the utility Adobe provides for cleaning everything, and yet it still doesn't work.
Any ideas? Is this something I have to wait for Adobe to fix due to Leopard? Every other CS3 app works fine, except Acrobat.
    Thanks!

    Hi Amitoj,
I tried your procedure, but it does not work.
In /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers, there are two files: Adobe InDesign CS3 and Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium.
I clicked on the Add or Remove Adobe CS3 Web Premium link, which launches the Setup file for CS3. In the Manage Adobe CS3 Web Premium Components screen, I can choose between Install or Reinstall, or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium Components.
If I select Install or Reinstall and click Next, the next screen shows that Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional is already installed (but it's actually not). In the bottom panel, titled Select the components you want to reinstall, Acrobat, of course, is not listed since the installer think it's already on my system, as I just noted.
If I press Back and select Remove Adobe CS3 Web Premium Components, all my CS3 applications are listed, except Acrobat 8!
So, I can't install Acrobat 8 since it thinks it's already installed, and I can't remove it because, well, I can't figure out why.
    Thanks for your help.

  • CS3 Web Premium is missing pieces + crazzzy updater

Hello, I just got my CS3 Web Premium.
No demos installed on my machine before it, so it's all brand new (new computer too).
I ran the DVD, and the installer said there were problems. It said VersionCue had not been installed.
I tried the suite, it seemed to work.
    But...
-There was no Adobe Bridge. I tried to evoke it from the apps, no way. It isn't anywhere, not even a folder on the computer.
-Also Photo Pack wasn't there: the icon is in Applications Folder, but double-click and nothing is launched.
-And then, this crazy Adobe Udpater. It's just a message that pops up every single time I open an app from the Suite. It doesn't do anything, doesn't check, connect... no preferences to change, nothing. Just a message and an OK button to send it away.
I had to put it on the desktop to stop it from driving me crazy.
I then uninstalled (following carefully the instructions from the Adobe Support site to perform a clean uninstall), and re-installed. This time, no error message...
But same situation. No Bridge. No Photo Pack. And crazy Updater still there.
I wonder how many things can be wrong that I haven't seen yet... !
Does anyone know what this can be? thank you for the kind attention,
    Josh
CS3 Web Preminum, MacBook Pro, Leopard.

    Hello to whoever is reading.
Especially people who have the CS3 Web Premium + Acrobat 9 box.
I don't know if this is right or not, whether I'm talking nonsense, but here is my experience, exactly as it happened (except it took days :)
I recently had great problems installing CS3 Web Premium.
In two words, the installer (a DVD) would NOT install a number of parts.
It would not install Bridge, Version Cue, StockPhotos. And the Adobe Updater had some very obvious problems too, because it didn't check anything, all it did was pop up every time I opened an app from the suite.
Basically, I had an incomplete and malfunctioning version of CS3.
So, after a number of attempts which unfortunately spanned across a few days, including performing a clean un-install as suggested by the Adobe site, and a talk with Adobe Customer Support, who told me I had to install by creating a new admin account on my computer (note: a brand new MacBookPro, very unlikely that it would have any seriously bad configuration problems), here is where the unexpected solution popped up.
The fourth time I re-installed, and before going through installing with a different admin, as Support suggested, I tried something I hadn't tried the previous times. Just for the heck of it.
I DID NOT follow the instructions that came in the box that said to uncheck the installation of Acrobat 8. The note said you had to do that with the Acrobat 9 DVD installer, but later.
This time, I just let CS3 install with Acrobat 8 as it would by default.
And, hey! It installed perfectly! All components, and all working as should.
Now... I don't know if it's coincidence, if I missed out on noticing something else.
I'm am illustrator and cartoonist, so I know NOTHING about installers and the sort.
I'm not assuming this is a bug. This is just what happened to me.
So if anybody out there is experiencing the same frustrating thing, well, what the... it's worth the try, ain't it?
Try it... let CS3 install WITH Acrobat 8, and maybe it'll go smooth.
    It did for me.
Bye, best, & hope this was useful.

  • CS3 Web Premium Setup.app crashing on launch

Trying to install CS3 Web Premium on a Mac intel w 10.5.2 and I cannot get the installer to launch. It did not auto run as the instructions indicated and there was no Setup MacOS file that I could find on the dvd, but I did find Setup.app. Launching this fails almost instantly with an error:
[0x0-0x16016].Setup[241]: /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp[241] Launch failed with error code -2857 (cfragCFragRsrcErr) for application /Volumes/Adobe CS3 Web Premium/Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium/Setup.app/Contents/MacOS/Setup
The installer does not leave a log file in either Library or that is accessible via the Console. I've tried installing from a different admin account and also as root. Same result in both cases. I also attempted to run the actual Setup executable that is within the Setup.app bundle via Terminal and was told "cannot execute binary file".
Thinking i might have had some previous adobe junk, i've also run the adobe clean up script at level 4. No effect on the crashing installer.
    Any ideas?

I am installing a brand new MacPro with OS X 10.5.2. It is a machine upgrade for the user so all of her previous user files were also transferred during the setup. Two days ago we got our new CS3 site license upgrade discs and I was using it to install a fresh copy of CS3 Standard. We had a 5 user license disc that we were using to test before deploying CS3 to the users so we know that we can install from that disc, unfortunately it is a CS3 Premium disc and a different serial number.
Also of note, once the setup.app crashes (actually it never really launches) other apps, like Safari also will no longer launch. I have repaired disk permissions and the next thing I will try is installing as another user, but it looks like you guys have already tried that.
Any help would be wonderful, this user returns from vacation on Monday!
    Thanks,
    Laura

  • Installing CS5 Web Premium to Windows 8.1

I am having trouble installing CS5 web premium on window 8.1.  I have the disc and have also tried from adobe downloads.  I keep getting an installer that doesn't work and refers me to adobe support that no longer exists.  Can someone please help me?

    Ok, thanks.
    I'll go trough your tips.
At a quick glans it seems that the answer may be
    Main installation log errors
    Log string
    Error description
    Possible solution
Exit Code: 20 - install source path does not exist
    Install source files are missing.
Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
My installation is in swedish so my error text is translated.
I'll get back when I've tried this out.

  • Unable to install Adobe CS3 Web Premium on Leopard

Everytime I try to install Adobe CS3 Web Premium I get the error message something like "Unable to install. Your file system is not supported". I formatted my system drive with hfs case-sensitive, could this be the problem.

I don't know if this as anything to do with it but on Tiger, CS3 didn't install if Safari 3 was installed. Nor dit it uninstall. I had to remove Safari 3 to install or uninstall CS3.
I know that you can't easily remove Safari 3 from Leopard.

  • Install Acrobat 8 by itself from CS3 Web Premium

I have CS5 Production Premium installed and I want to install Acrobat 8 from my CS3 Web Premium.  I get the error "Acrobat cannot be launched at this time.  You must launch at least one other suite component before launching Acrobat 8".
    I searched and found this-
Could you please try the following:
    1. Quit any Adobe applications that are open.
    2. In the Finder, navigate to /Library/Application Support/Adobe.
Note: This folder path refers to the Library folder at the root level of the startup disk, not the Library folder that is inside a user's Home folder.
    3. Move the following folders to your Documents folder or another safe location:
    Acrobat
    Adobe PCD
    Adobe PDF
Important: Do not delete these folders.
    4. Open Acrobat 8 Professional.
    5. Enter your serial number when prompted.
I followed these instructions, it prompted me for a serial number, but my CS3 Web Premium serial number is not working.
    Any luck with this elsewhere?

To use the Acrobat from CS3 you need to install at least one of the standard applications so that it can activate the suite. Since you have already installed CS5 you cannot install CS3. While I don't know why you won't go with the Acrobat 9 in CS5 you need to follow the following steps to get going.
    1) Deactivate CS5
    2) uninstall CS5
    3) install CS3 (you can just install something like Acrobat 8 and Photoshop CS 3 you need not install everything).
    4) Open and Activate Photoshop CS 3
    5) Open Acrobat 8, just to make sure everything is hunky dory.
    6) Uninstall Photoshop CS 3 if you insist.
    7) Install CS 5 (make sure you do not install Acrobat 9, since Adobe no longer recommends two different versions of Acrobat on the same Macintosh computer).
    8) Open a CS 5 application like Flash CS 5
    9) Activate Flash CS 5.
All should be well until you want to deactivate and uninstall Acrobat 8.

  • Unable to install Adobe CS3 Web Premium

A few days ago, I opened my Adobe Photoshop CS3 Web Premium and it told me I cannot use it anymore. Same with Adobe Fireworks. It was running fine previously until THAT day.
I was told by the error message to uninstall or reinstall the progam, which I did. But after uninstalling and installing CS3 again, only Adobe Acrobat was successful. All other components failed.
    Please help.

A similar problem has been discussed on the Creative Suite forum:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.3c05199a
It appears to be an Acrobat issue, but it prevents other suite applications from starting. There's a fix published by Adobe, that seemed to resolve most problems:

  • Unable to deactivate CS3 Web Premium

My company has a CS3 Web Premium site license. I'm giving a new computer to a member of staff so I'm trying to deactivate the CS3 package on his old computer before I can activate it on his new one. The help file says that this is as simple as doing "Help -> Deactivate". The trouble is, that option doesn't exist in the help menu of any of the installed CS3 apps. It's not that it's grayed out, it just isn't there at all!
    Any ideas?

Are you certain about that? I ask because we don't have an unlimited site license; it's based on a certain number of points. Therefore, my assumption is that each installation using that key would need to be activated in order for Adobe to know how many points we've used and, thus, how many installations we're able to make before we reach our points limit. Likewise, each install would also need to be deactivated in order to update the points total.
    Does that sound plausible?
Also, another thing that occurs to me: wouldn't the use of a retail installer make it *more* likely that the "Help -> Deactivate" option is present, given that retail versions definitely do need to be activated?
