Troubles with closing down iTunes
even forced doesn't work. iTunes starts up again and again. I have to close down the computer by pushing the on/outswitch. When I start it up again iTunes is still on but then I can close it down. It is iTunes on iMac with Lion
Are you running NOD security software? That has a bug in it that causes itunes to not shut down. So get the latest update for that.
Another reason might be, AppleMobileDevice Helper. It had a problem not letting iTunes shut down, so I removed that from my PC. You only need that AMD Helper program if you have an iTouch or iPhone.

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -

And it looks like that was the cause! Which I realised as I was writing this post!!! - I removed all traces of FoxyProxy including the Video streamer and normal version (think latter was the culprit!) and all ist gud now! Thanks for the tip off all the same though Katrina

</script>These are two javascript functions that will be called when an item is clicked in the report.
Each runs an Ajax call to the appropriate application process, passes the selected DEPTNO or CITY_ID value into the application items, runs the process, retrieves the results and then inserts that into a DIV next to the item in the report and makes that visible. Clicking the link again just hides the DIV
4 - In the report definition, on the DEPTNO column definition, I have set the following HTML Expression:
<a href="#" onclick="getEmployees('#DEPTNO#');">#DEPTNO#</a><div id="DEPTNO_#DEPTNO#" style="display:none"></div>This creates the DEPTNO as a link and clicking the link runs the getEmployees javascript. Next to the link is a DIV tag with a unique ID (created using #DEPTNO# - which is replaced by the actual DEPTNO value on the row)
5 - I have done a similar thing on the CITY_ID setting:
<a href="#" onclick="getDepartments('#CITY_ID#');">#CITY_ID#</a><div id="CITY_ID_#CITY_ID#" style="display:none"></div>And, that should be it - the user clicks the "link", the javascript is called, the clicked value is passed into an application item, which, in turn, filters the required data. This data is formatted into a table and passed back to the page. The javascript then receives this and inserts it into the DIV next to the link and displays it.
I think the CITY_ID column is one that I added to the standard DEPT table, so you may not have that one, but hopefully you get the idea from the above
Also note that I have used the Theme 17 Standard report template - you will need to adjust the class names in the application processes if you are using a different theme/template

The monitor is in extended desktop mode. That's a logical extension of the desktop located to the right. Drag iTunes off the right side of your MBair monitor and it will appear on the TV.
Edit: These settings are in System Preferences > Displays > arrangement tab. You can also mirror your monitor there as well. -
I'm definitely new to mac, but I have been using itunes without problems so far. Lately though whenever I try to open it I do not get the usual window with all my playlists and everything, I only get the itunes thing in the upper left corner. So I can't see any of my music, the only way I am able to find it is through finder, and then I only get the one track
I am looking for. How do I get that window back?
Thanks! CaroTry changing the resolution of your Mac's screen (Displays system preference) to a lower resolution, then back. That may get the iTunes window to reappear..
If not, open the Script Editor application, copy and paste in the following text (up to and including the line that says "end tell") and click the "Run" button:

Trouble with iPod and iTunes update
alright, I put another post on this board about the problem, but no responses really helped. I also went way back and read many other posts, and have yet to find anything that relates to my problem. I also searched through google, and found nothing. There are many things that are similar but don't cure my problem. Everytime that I plug my iPod into my computer to update it, a message pops up saying, "Attempting to copy to the disk 'M@'s IPOD' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." I have seen error messages that have a (-36) or a (-50), or something like that, but never any that have a (-69). Sometimes a few songs will actually update, but most of the time, none do before this error message pops up. Also, whenever I plug it in and it starts to try the update, the iPod begins making a small buzzing sound; this seems odd to me. I have uninstalled and removed iTunes from my computer and reloaded it, updated the iPod multiple times, I have done all of the famed "5 R's", but nothing has yet fixed this problem. I honestly have no idea what to do and have been spending hours over the past few days trying to fix it, but nothing is working. Please somebody help me with this, because I fear my iPod may just be broken. It is a click-wheel 20GB that I've had for about a year and a half. Someone please try to help with this one...Thanks

Why won't CD's I put in iTunes not sync to my iDevices? I'll burn a CD to my itunes library to problem. But if I want to put that CD to my iPod/iPad, it won't do it. HELP!

I am unable to shut off my laptop because I can not close the mail app. Command Q doesn't work. While "quit mail" shows up under FILE on the menu bar, it is faded and not a working option. Mail appears to be frozen. I also can not pull up the mail page despite the app being open. Clicking on the mail icon does nothing and there are no available options under the menu bar. Help, please! Thanks!
Try force-quitting (command-option-esc).

i just got an ihome system and had trouble with it connecting to my iPhone. I finally got it to work and now my itunes doesn't recognize my phone. My software is up to date on both my Mac and my iPhone and I have shut everything down and restarted. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I'm having trouble with importing them into iTunes and converting them at the same time. when i hold down option over the files i can't find where its supposed to say create new version. is this if you're in iTunes?
You can't do it in one step. Add to iTunes first, Once the tracks are in iTunes you may convert to a different format.

I have an old Apple ID I have been trying to log in to retrieve permission for the songs I have bought for my iTunes. However due to it being an old ID, I have forgotten the password and from what I can remember, the email address I used for security was closed down. I am aware that I can go through security questions and when asked for my D.O.B, I have a feeling I never adjusted my settings in the Apple ID account therefore can not get past that question either.

I bought Pages ages ago using an iTunes account that no longer works as the email address has been closed down. How can I now update my Pages app, if it asks me to sign in using this now defunct email address?
All apps are always tied to the account from whaich they were purchased and will always have to be updated using that account.
Just because the e-mail account is shut down, has nothing to do with the itunes account. Why did you create a new account? Why not just change the e-mail associated with the old account?
