Troubles with my speakers

I have a Mac Pro tower with functioning speakers. If I watch a video etc. the sound is perfect.
However, when I change the volume, I get no feedback as I have for decades.
In settings, I have: Sound > "Play feedback when volume is changed" is checked.
Anything else I can try?

Those settings are stored in your ram and maybe a reset might fix....How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Trouble with external speakers

I have a set of Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers hooked up to my Air. While i'm doing normal things (surfing the web, ichat etc), the speakers make this weird 'pop' sound every few seconds. if i'm listening to itunes, or doing anything else involving sound, the 'pop' stops. is this normal, or should i get it checked out?

People claim this "isnt supposed to happen with macs, and call apple", but I say likewise. ive had a number of macs and theyve all made this little pop noise. Its apparently due to the method that apple uses to integrate the sound card onto the main board to minimize costs, but keep it functional. Theres a fix somewhere that forces macs to play a constant silent file to make sure the speakers and sound card are constantly engaged, thus removing the 'pop' that occurs whenever the sounds stop. Overall, i dont really mind it, its not a big problem nor one that impedes anything im doing since sound quality returns when stuff is actually played.

Havin trouble with podcasts, speakers speech is accelerated, is there some way to slow it down?

I have downloaded the podcast app and am able to download multiple sermons from various sites. However, when they are playing back they keep cutting in and out and when they do play the speaker's speech is accelerated and difficult to understand, how do I slow it down and keep it from cutting in and out?

Trouble with ipod speakers

my ipod dosen't play out of the left speaker. its not the beadphones because i've tried it on my stereo. ocasionally if i move the chord just right it plays but fairly faintly. i was wondering if there is a way to fix it without having to send it in, because when i get it back my new ipod won't be compatable to my old itunes, and i don't trust the new itunes anymore. thanks.

Trouble with Skype. can't hear caller but I can see caller.

Trouble with Skype. Caller cannot hear me but I can hear caller. Cannot hear voice on test call. Can see caller. MIcrophone is on and volume turned up.

I do not have Mavericks running on my older MacBook Pro. During the call, do you have the microphone icon on the Skype window enabled or disabled? Have done that before.
My Skype preferences:
Microphone: Built-in Microphone (Internal microphone)
* Automatically adjust microphone settings is set
Ringing and Speakers: Built-in Output (Internal Speakers)
Camera: Built-in iSight.
System Preferences > Sound
Input tab: Internal Microphone
Output tab: Internal Speakers

Satellite L755-16J - Trouble with sound card

I currently own a Toshiba *Satellite L755-16J* and it is having some sort of trouble with the sound card, i think.
When i bought it, it came with windows 7, i changed the windows to windows 8 and since then the audio has been troubling me.
The internal speakers work for a minute or two when i play an audio file but then stop working.
i had been using an external usb soundcard and external speakers for some time but decided to switchback to windows 7 for the sound to work properly again. even though i have switched back to win 7, the sound still doesnt work.
I am quite sure that the problem is not in the internal speakers because they do work, although just for a brief moment but they work, so i am guessing the problem is in the software instead of the hardware.
i tried updating the sound drivers but they seem to be up to date, according to windows the drivers "seem to be working properly"
Can anyone help?

How did you do that?
Did you use the Toshiba Recovery Disk in order to install Win 7 or did you install the Win 7 using fresh and clean Windows 7 disk?
The notebook supports Conexant sound chip. The sound driver is available on the Toshiba EU driver page and in case the sound chip is already recognized in device manager after the sound driver installation, I assume the driver has been installed properly.
In such case I would recommend you to connect the headphones.
In case the headphones would function properly, the speakers might be affected. I mean the hardware. But of course its only an idea.
Beside the headphone check, you could check also the settings within the control panel -> sound -> playback tab.
Usually the speakers should be set as default device.
Check this option too.

Found the fix.
If the reboot doesn't fix it.
If the headphoens work find, but no external speakers.
If the double-click and page right to the software mute, doesn't show the sound knob - just the brightness
If your pop-up shows "Docking Station"
Then, the problem is very likely a dirty connector. The iPad/iPhone/iPod connector uses a resistor value to determine if the device is connected to an external 'speaker'. There are a range of resistances, for a range of products. This is known as the Connector Pin 21 issue.
Take some windex on a que-tip, or perhaps a Windex paper scrub and rub it on the bottom connector port. Somehow, "something" has gotten on those contacts, and it is pulling the voltage on pin #21 down - so that the iPad "thinks" it's connected to an external speaker - this will disable the internal speaker circuitry, as well as the internal speaker volume controls.
Do not over-saturate and short out your iPad. Do not throw it in the sink, do not use the kitchen faucet to flush it out. A Que-tip with a few drops of Windex (or other gentle cleaner) should work just fine. Takes all of 30 seconds - and magically, the volume knob appeared and everything worked just fine.

Trouble with 9400 chip...again??

Hi everybody,
I bought this Macbook Pro in November 2008. As soon as I got it I noticed the screen blinking every once in a while if I was using the 9400 Nvidia chip (the better battery life setting in the energy saver preferences). I encountered no such issue with the 9600 chip (high performance setting).
Eventually I sent it in and I had the logic board replaced (and the display was also replaced though I didn't ask them to, for "horizontal/vertical lines" though I never noticed any problems).
That was fine and I noticed no more blinking. But when the day I got it back I also discovered the sound port was jammed for some reason. I couldn't fit in a headphone jack and the first time I tried it immediately switched to external speakers, meaning I had no audio...
Finally I took it back and they put in a new logic board once again, this time they did it in store. They left one screw a bit out so that the bottom battery bay casing isn't flush with the rest of the chassis, but that isn't bothering me so much.
What is bothering me:
Now I get weird lines flash across the screen, or sometimes, what looks like a ghosting image for a few milliseconds. It is all very intermittent and brief but it happens often enough for me to definitely notice. It's the 9400 since I've been on that setting ever since. I will change to the 9600 and follow up with that.
So, I guess I'm taking it in for repairs again (I've got Apple care for a while longer, so they're still obliged to fix this mess). Has anybody else had this much trouble with these kinds of issues? Taking my computer in for repairs is a humongous hassle for me...I need it for work...

Naughty troubles with my Gigawork s750

Hi folks! I've been experiencing some troubles with my GW s750...One month ago my sub died of the well known fuse-blowing problem (it wouldn't turn on and it smelled of melted plastic)...Anyway I've contacted the french Creative's technical support who sent a new subwoofer...Anyway I got it two days ago, plugged it on my xfi card the way I used to do it then I noticed some of my speakers were mute (central, the two rear and the sub itself)... I've checked my settings which were correct (both in the creative and the windows control panels) , done a "diagnostic", then tried to re-install the sound card and this brought no good either... I'm pretty sure that doesn't come from the speakers themselves since I've tried them on the sub directly by plugging them on a "working" RCA.... Then I'm experiencing another matter : sometimes the sound become saturated and filled with statics and when I DELICATELY shake the sub the sound becomes clear again for some time...And that seems bad BTW when I delicately shake my sub, it makes a weird metalic sound like a vibration....and that seems bad too... It's been a month since I'm forced to listen music, play video games and watch films with two little speakers!! Please help me!! (I've got a xfi elite pro as sound card and I'm a windows XP user...)

uuppps, sorry, my mistake this is one of the best multimedia speakers, but just don't compare them with good HT speakers, they're absolutely in different classes. But I don't think you can get better speakers with the same money.

Trouble with Voice comms and K7n2-ILSR

Having had a KT3 Ultra-ARU i purchased the K7N2 Delta ILSR as a replacement.
my troulbe is i use a Microsoft GameVoice for voice conversations with my son and friends, and since purchasing the board it won't work. i recieve the same arror every time so i spoke to MS and after 2 months they told me to buy a new motherboard! i have used the soundstorm and my Creative Extigy and each time i recieve a direct play error (80004005). Normally the Mic works (e.g. i can here it through my speaker but no programs find it (it is unmuted)) the same is said for the speakers.
has anyone else had trouble with thing slike this and any help would be great.

Let's start with the Voice Action Commands. Try to disable contact sync to see if the issue persists: Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Your Account -> Uncheck Sync Contacts. G-mail Sync issue:
Go to Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> G-mail -> Disable sync -> Power off device -> power back on -> go back to enable sync and test.

Problem with my speakers

Hi,
I am using HP ENVY m6-1225dx Notebook PC. It is little more than a year o;d and I never had any complaints with it.
Since past few days, there is a problem with my speakers.
However, when I use trouble shoot option, I am getting the following message 'Hardware Changes might not have been detected'. But immediately, the audio functions for few minutes and when it functions I am able to mute my system speakers. And few minutes later, when the audio stops functioning, I am not able to mute the speakers as well.
Further, when I attempt to test the speakers I get the following message 'The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again'.
I have attempted to install the drivers from the HP page, even then, the speakers worked only for few minutes.
I am not sure, how do I go about it.
Any help with respect to the above problem will be of great help to me.

Hi,
Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall. When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'. You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

I have been having a lot of trouble with the latest itunes update and my ipod classic 80Gb i.e. being unable to sync songs, but now i have no files at all on my ipod, it is completely blank when i view it from my computer. I need help, please, anybody.

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
