Troubles with WiFi setup

Hi there, I am new in the Arch-world, and I am having some troubles in installing this OS.
I have read every documentation file I found in the web, unfortunately I can't connect the pc to my wifi network.
First, I used LiLi to create a bootable iso on my IoMega HD.
I followed (mainly, but not only because I read other resources on the web) the Wiki wireless setup guide, but with no success.
I have a broadcom wifi card (BCM4313) and according to Ubuntu doc I should not have any troubles.
Using the "wifi-menu" command, I get this error message:
Job for netctl@wlp10s0\x2dTNCAPD1D28F.service failed. See 'systemctl status netctl@wlps0\x2dTNCAPD1D28F.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.
Thank you very much!

if those modules aren't loaded then you can proceed to the next steps. For broadcom-wl to work, the other modules (brcmsmac) have to be removed. If you install broadcom-wl from the aur, it will create a file which automatically blackulists those modules. You then have to make sure you load wl, and it's deps (may be loaded automatically) at boot.
Also, keep in mind that the interface names might be different from the brcmsmac names under the wl module. Always check iwconfig/ip link. The numbers that appear in front of your prompt are the return values from the previous operation, I believe.
what modules do you have loaded right now? You can check with lsmod.
When I write # modprobe wl, I get another error message:
modprobe: FATAL: Module wl not found
Right now I am unable to take a photo, so this is the list of the modules (note that the list fills the display, so probably there are more mods up):

Having trouble with wifi since downloading ios7

I have had this problem on my iPad and iPhone 5 since the update in September. I called apple support numerous times, did all the troubleshooting, and went to the apple store and had both devices replaced under warranty. Nothing fixed the problem.
Then as a last ditch effort I called my internet service provider. Turns out that the ios7 doesn't seem to work on a wpa2 network and needs to be changed to a wep network. The tech did this over the phone and now both devices work normally connecting to my wifi! I am still nervous I'm going to run into more issues but so far so good.

  • Trouble with wifi after IOS 6 upgrade

I have an iPhone 4 and successfully installed iOS 6 today.  I am having trouble getting on my home wifi.  When asked to join my network, I click on it and type in my password.  Shortly after typing in my correct password an apple.com login page loads from the bottom of the iPhone but says "hmm, the page you're looking for cant be found".  The only option I have is to push cancel and then it ends my wifi connection with my own home network.  Help please.

Was the "full" restore a restoe to factory defaults/new iPod?
Try powering off and then back on your router

  • Downloaded new OS and having trouble with wifi, bluetooth Facebook and Skype performance

    Dowloaded 10.2.1.537
When I first loaded this it had a lot of trouble finding my Wifi again and would disengage.  Problem went away after a few hours but it recurred this am.  Also affected Facebook.
Skype is loading more slowly and jumps to a black screen for 10-20 seconds.  Then it will load and function but only for a few seconds to a minute and then shuts off completely.
Launching Skype also resultd in my bluetooth headset being disengaged sometimes.
Reinstalled Skype to see if that fixed anything.
Tried turning off bluetooth to see if that fixed the skype problem - nope still disengaged.
Cycled my router and cable and still no fix...
    Running Z30
Would love to get a fix on this.

    Hello,
Given all of your issues, I'd guess that something did not go well with the update, and a clean reload would be in order. You accomplish that either through the LINK software or by obtaining an AutoLoader.
    Good luck!

  • Having trouble with wifi

i have a mac osx that i have for 4~5 years
so the wifi i was able to connect everytime suddenly had an exclamtion mark on it so i clicked on it and a system app popped up with an option wheither my wifi is D something or P something (i forgot the names im so sorry) and i clicked the D selection ( because it said if my wifi needs an username and a password you have to choose the D selection and if my wifi doesnt need a username or a password you choose the P selection) i typed in my wifi name and the wifi password then clicked continue, my wifi completely doesnt work anymore.
the wifi was connected to all the devices at home but for my laptop it says that the airport cannot be connected.
Please help. what happened? what should i do??

Sorry I am a bit lost..
So apparently i made a new service on my wifi and my wifi connected!
If you setup a new wireless name on the Airport Extreme or airport express. Please tell us explicitly what wireless router you have.. is this what you setup the new service on?? And if your wifi on the laptop then connected then everything is fine.
But the thing is my AirPort service (the one i have connected ever since i got the laptop) is still not connected.
You just said you setup a new service and it worked.. why didn't you reset your airport router?? That is the one you should create the new connection on.
the AirPort is still not connected to my wifi.
Reset the airport router to factory and start again.
What OS exactly are running on the computer that fails??
If the Airport is more than 4 years old it might be faulty.. did you test it with other clients.. is it only the one computer that is failing??
Have you run hardware or wireless diagnostics on the computer to make sure it is not hardware on the computer?

  • Iphone4 Hotspot trouble with WIFI

When I turn on my iphone4 hotspot to broadcast WIFI I have no trouble connecting my laptop to the WIFI signal and everything works great. After about maybe 15 minutes or so, my laptop loses the connection and no longer "sees" the WIFI (phone and laptop sitting 3 ft away). When I look at the phone it still says "Personal Hotspot - 1 Connection" but the phone is no longer sending the WIFI signal. Anyone else having this trouble? I tried it again and again but see the same result.

Hello Othello1 and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you are having Wi-Fi® issues with your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone.
Have you tried rebooting your router and modem? If you connect to another Wi-Fi network does this same thing happen?
Have a look at KB13299 "Use the Wi-Fi Diagnostics tool" when these apps seem to stop running.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Publishing trouble with wifi

I am having trouble publishing my web to an FTP server using my wifi connection. It did work once but now will not through my wifi connection. I hooked up to the ethernet port of the wifi router and it published quickly. Is there a setting to change on sharing or on the firewall to allow the wifi publishing?

The Nokia Xpress browser (and all other apps) work here with Mobile Data = Off in my Nokia 210 Firmware V 06.09. Sounds like your Nokia has choosen the wrong configuration settings. Please, go to
    Nokia 210 » Menu » Settings » Configuration » Personal » (Options ») Add » not Web but Access-Point » Access-Point Settings » Bearer Settings » Mobile-Data Access-Point » payandgo
Nokia 210 » Menu » Settings » Configuration » Personal » (Options ») Add » not Access-Point but this time Web (just create it, nothing to change)
    Nokia 210 » Menu » Settings » Configuration » Activate » (SIM1 ») Web = My web and Access-Point = My access-point
This should enable Wi-Fi for HTTP traffic (and HTTPs traffic). Nokia Xpress uses HTTPs as connection mehtod. Because of that, the Nokia Xpress browser should use Wi-Fi as (first) preferred connection now. And because of that, the Mobile-Data settings should not matter anymore, except when you are on the go (leaving your home and your Wi-Fi). Did that help?

  • Help with WiFi setup.

I'm trying to set up my wifi and my sound. I searched the arch wiki and arch linux forums for the past few days and couldn't find a solution.
    When I input #dhcpcd wlan0 I receive
    wlan0: waiting for carrier
    timed out
My output for $lspci | grep -i net

03:00,2 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 0a)
I had to install the drivers manually with an ethernet connection from http://askubuntu.com/questions/139632/wireless-card-realtek-rtl8723ae-bt-is-not-recognized.  I followed their instructions and managed to install the drivers.
    #netcfg  Brandon
    Brandon [BUSY]
    WPA Authentication/Association Failed [FAIL]
even though I have an open network.
When I tried the Arch Wiki manual wireless setup, the timed out message appeared. I tried Mode: Managed and Mode: Ad-Hoc, but was unable to change the Mode into auto with "#iwconfig wlan0 channel auto" for some reason.
    #iwconfig

I can associated the wlan0 with #iwconfig wlan0 essid Brandon but it still gives the timed out message when waiting for carrier.

I still received a timed out message when attempting dhcpcd wlan0.
With the iwconfig output above ?   It should not do that.
What happens (when you are associated) with dhcpcd -B -d wlan0   ??  edit As root

  • Trouble with LAMP setup on Linode...

    Hey everyone,
    So I followed this guide  : https://www.linode.com/docs/websites/la … arch-linux
But for some reason, every time I try to naviage to the IP address in my browser, I keep getting a 403 error, that either there is no index.html or there is a read protection.
    Here's my /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
    # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
    # In particular, see
    # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
    # for a discussion of each configuration directive.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding

    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the

    # with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"

I used chown/chgrp -R http to make sure everything in /srv/http was managed by http.
What am I doing wrong? Also, that's my FQDN. I'm not sure if it's insecure or not to post that. I mean, I want people to visit the site.
    I also put a index.html in my /srv/http/default and /srv/httpd/li.../public_html folders.
    index.html :
    <html>
    <head />
    <body>
    <p>Hello, world!</p>
    </body>
    </html>
I will say this, I don't have any DNS type stuff set-up. I don't even know what that is (I know, I should read up).
But even if I type in just the IP, I still get the permission error.
Edit : I'm an idiot! The link actually works! The IP itself fails but the url I posted for the virtual host works! The FQDN actually works. Omg. Is this because I updated the /etc/hosts file on MY system to recognize the FQDN with the IP?

after I downloaded the 10.8 Mac OS I could not open the Cisco Connect Software. I went to chat with the customer support people and they beat me around the bush and they knew that it was not compatible with 10.8 Spoke with two different people, asked a crazy amount of questions about the router and the connection but in the end of the hour plus convo with them they said it was not compatible when they know all along. I mean, come on I can not be the first person with this problem.

  • Trouble with wifi after upgrade to IOS 8

After upgrading my iPad 3 to Ios 8 yesterday I am having trouble of connecting to the internet using the wireless wifi modem on MacBook Pro. The Wifi appears to connect  to the iPad but I get a message '"MacBook Pro" is Not Connected to the Internet" when I start the process of connecting to my MacBook. I join anyway but I don't see the WiFi icon on top of my iPad even though I have a tick next to the connection on the settings page. Does anyone have any idea how I get the Wifi working again?

My problem turned out to be that the Sharing app decided to make the newly discovered Thunderbolt Bridge the default device to be used for sharing rather than my USB modem. Changing back to the original setting and everything is working again.

  • Recent troubles with WiFi.

Hello everyone, recently I have been having numerous issues with my WiFi connection. I am only noticing the issue when I am attempting to download a file via Firefox or using wget. What will happen is, during the middle of downloading the file my internet will suddenly quit working. I checked into the dmesg log and noticed a huge flood of " iwlwifi 5:00.0: fail to flush all tx fifo queues". I'm not entirely sure what this means but the only way to fix the issue is to reboot my entire system and cross my fingers hoping it wont happen again when I attempt to download something.
Can anyone provide a little bit of insight into the issue? Has anyone else had similar problems? I have attempted researching the issue on google but I have had no luck finding good results. If anyone needs a little more info, please let me know I will be more than helpful to assist those who are willing to help with my issue. Thanks in advance!
My network card is (taken from lspci): Network controller: Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300
(I did not have to install any special drivers for this, it was working automatically.)
EDIT: Here is a picture of my log output from KSystemLog. http://imageshack.us/a/img805/3858/errorui.png

Instead of rebooting, why not simple unload the module and then reload it again.
No idea how to solve it, but I think rebooting is unnecessary.
Thanks for the reply WonderWoofy.  I have been able to unload the module's and reload them and this does appear to work as a temporary fix to the issue instead of completely rebooting! Although, I am still having problems.
I can have the WiFi work fine with normal web browsing and low latency activities, but the moment I start downloading a file (multiple files at once cause the issues to happen even faster) the iwlwifi module spits out a long dmesg log of:   "iwlwifi 0000:05:00.0: fail to flush all tx fifo queues".
I am still looking into the issue and I want to see if I'm able to debug the module my self. Although, for now I have an alias script that will unload and reload the failed modules instead, just for a temporary fix. Again, if anyone needs more info please let me know I'll be happy to share! Thanks for the help!

  • Trouble with wifi and swtiching to 4g networks

I having problems with iphone 5 and network issues. While on wi-fi is constantly turning on adn off adn it is frustating.. when not in wi-fi.. it basically does not do nothing.... I dont get to see the 4G

The dns (domain name server) address is found by choosing settings -> wifi -> your network.
Then tap on the blue circle with the arrow on the right side.
Scroll down until you find router and dns.
If the dns is blank or showing the same as your router address, this could be causing the problem.
What you could do is contact your isp and ask them what there dns address should be, then enter that into the iphone and see if it works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why have i trouble with wifi internet on my iphone 4 and sometimes on my ipad 3?

Internet conection are suddenly for some days now unvaivable. I have internets to choose from in the internetlist, but the iphone cant connect. And now my ipad also starting to do the same thing nd i hve to restart it. Im uing the 6.0.1 IOS. Iphone only show the E.

Just because some devices (particularly devices with constant power) continue to work does not mean your WiFi router is working properly. Powered devices almost never request new IP addresses via DHCP which may be where your problem lies.
Try restarting your router to see if that helps (this will restart the router DHCP deamon which may have crashed or hung).
To rule out iPhone problems test it on other networks. If it can't connect there then it may have a hardware problem.
Since in your original post you stated that you have been having problems with two mobile devices this makes your router very suspect.
