Troubles with Zen Touch Firmware v2.11

I had my zen working fine with the previous firmware, and was not sure about upgrading due to the warning that it was irreversable. After much debating, i did upgrade. I my horror my zen is now rubbish!
!!! Bugs:?My zen now complains about trying to play loads of files it used to be able to play?Windows media player crashes after converting about 8 songs (ok thats not creative)?pressing "random" shoud que all tracks and play randomly... oh no! it misses out about 545 tracks
!!! over all, i think that creative should in some way make it so that i can down grade... this is stupid?also, i was using the EQ on the previous firmware fine, and this "fix" seems to only make more problems?Has anyone else had these problems, or is it just me... :smileyindifferent:?At the moment i am missing around 800 songs from my library, just because of media player. ok, i could turn off the converting function.. .but then they dont play on my zen?:smileyindifferent:?please do something about this creative, and soon...Message Edited by russnex on 03-20-200606:40 AM

I am about three hundred songs short when i press the random button
I can play all tracks in my music library but the dont all appear when i press random
My player also frequently crashes and has to rebuild library
and just last night when i was looking at my tracks using media organizer i noticed the file names of lots of tracks had changed to other tracks i have on my player.not the track names, just the file names.why is this?
also, does creative intend for media organizer to revert back to how it was?
i.e. being able to view all your tracks in one window instead of folders?
beings able to list all your tracks in alphbetical order or in order of album name,or in order of genre,or in order of length etc etc etc
Creative messed up how my player works with Media Organizer big time!

  • Fast forward problems with Zen Touch (1.01.03 AND PlayForSu

    Device: Zen Touch
    Firmware: .0.03
Some files cause fast forward problems. Suppose I fast forward to the end of the song. Then I reach the - 00:00.00 marker. HOWEVER, the song goes on and on. It doesn't stop, even if it should (these files aren't corrupt, they work properly on my pc). For e.g. this file causes problems: http://www.hollywoodsaloon.com/podcast/THS-ep9.mp3 and this file http://meandawg.com/audio/MDTop5_0002.mp3.
Anyone know if this is a common problem, and can I fix this by installing the playforsure firmware?Message Edited by Nicos on 07-27-200703:42 AM

  • Zen Touch firmware downloads page confusin

Currently the Creative US Downloads page for the Windows XP section of the Zen Touch shows
    <IMG src="http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/6205/download5fj.png">
Which is fine... But expanding 2..0 shows:
    <EM>Requirements:</EM>
Windows XP with SP or SP2 </LI>
    Windows Media Player 0 </LI>
Available USB port (version . or higher) </LI>
Creative Zen Touch firmware update version 2.0.05, available from the Internet </LI>
    Creative Zen Touch player</LI>
The question I have is do you really need firmware 2.0.05 installed to update to 2..0? It doesn't have the ability to install itself over top a v firmware? I noticed the file size of 2.0.05 vs 2..0 is a large difference, about 500kb.
Also nowhere does it say PlaysForSure, but we all know that it is a PlaysForSure firmware.
So just wondering.... why it doesn't say PlaysForSure when it is, and why you can't go straight from v to 2..0. It would be nice to that way people can just install one firmware and be done in 5mins, as opposed to doing 2 updates and waiting 0mins. Hey 5mins is a big deal considering your player just got formatted and you need all the time that you can get to put back your thousands of songs In 5mins you might be able to transfer hundreds of songs! If not thousands!
Hopefully someone can clarify as one can easily download and run 2..0 thinking its just a normal non-PlaysForSure firmware when in fact it is. And your faced with a problem.....

It wouldn't be the first time Creative have got the readme wrong, or at least missing information.
I guess it either needs a Moderator to clarify, or someone who has gone straight to 2..0 (or at least tried).

  • Trouble with ZEN MX

    Trouble with ZEN MXWHi,
I have some issues with my zen mx,? primarily sometimes when I listen to a playlist containing many tracks or "all tracks", my player sometimes shuts of and then have to scan the disk pefore working.
Secondly there are small pauses during playback, maybe every third track or more, I'm only talking about something like a thenth of a second but it's still very annoying. This also occurs when I have many tracks in my playlist.
Thirdly I'm not able to access the recovery mode, I've tried following the instructions from the sticky-thread in the forums (Turn on player and hold in the reset butto). However when I do, the screen goes black and no recovery mode appears ever if I hold down the button for a long time.
Anyone knows how th fix theses issues?
    thanks,
    /Kvick

has anyone had trouble with the touch pad on the macbook pro not working properly. I have to click it 3 or 4 times befre it responds. Can these be replaced?

Your MacBook Pro has enough compute power to do airframe stress analysis modeling or weather forecasting. This is not a computational issue.
Most USB printers do the imaging on the Mac, then send the stream of bits to the printer. The speed of doing this depends on the Printer driver.
Some drivers will image the page in "slices", and then pause to image the next slice after the first one completes. This may also depend on whether you have enough RAM memory available to do the imaging for a whole page at a time.
You have not mentioned what Printer, or whether this is indeed the latest driver for it.

'Thanks a million for the link, KokChoy-CL! You are now on my X-mas present list.
I have been using the .0.03 firmware, but recently I read http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-Touch-Custom-EQ-Frequencies-Wrong/m-p/64205" and wanted to try out the .00.06 firmware. Comparing from memory and using custom EQ, lows and mids sound much more clear now while bass is a bit more on the light side.

Often a Restart and a Reset will resolve these issues...
    iPhone Reset

Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...

  • PLEASE HELP - Serious problem with my Creative Zen Touch firmware

Ok, so I finally decided that I would upgrade to the latest firmware version for my Creative Zen Touch. I knew that doing so would erase everything on it, so I backed up everything onto my computer's hard dri've. So from that standpoint, I'm in the clear.
HOWEVER, during the upgrade process, my computer froze, leaving my precious MP3 player without ANY firmware. This then drove it into "recovery" mode, where I can either clean up, format, or reload firmware. I've gone through each of these options, but when I go to "reload firmware" my computer will no longer detect my Zen! I've tried reinstalling different driver versions, different firmware versions, etc. The bottom line now is that my mp3 player has no firmware, and my computer won't detect it.
I feel like I probably need to go back to the basics. Unfortuantely, I don't have my installation CD with me. Can anyone post the initial installation file please? Thanks in advance!
I really hope I can work this out, I don't know if I've gone a day without my Zen in the past two years!

Simon, this is actually a common problem with the touch. Mine did it about a year after purchase, so I was safe to open it up and fix it. It is actually a really simple fix and is due to a loose connector. I know alot of other people on nomadness.net were having this problem, so I posted a solution here. Hope this helps!

  • Lots of trouble with Zen Sleek, please he

Had to replace my Zen Touch today (finally gave up the ghost) and swapped it for a Zen Sleek. My head is battered with the amount of trouble I have had with this today, problems being......
*CD won't load, starts and then just gives up
*USB being connected to computer, Zen Sleek thinks it is charging
*Tried a few suggestions from the Zen Sleek topics and getting nowhere, have tried to download a driver but it won't let me.
I am really really at the end of my tether with this and I can see this Zen sleek being thrown at somebody very soon, please help me, any advice would be really really helpful

I have had this unit for over a year. The site does not seem to directly refer to it anymore but only mentions the 60 gig model until you find the right links in support. I saw your message while trying to bring mine back to life 9 months of non use. It is really to heavy for my jogs which is when I listen to music lately. Anyhow if you installed the device driver on the system it should recognise it. If you dont then windows is pretty dumb about it and a newer USB 2.0 system will shut off the current when it does not recognize it; .0 systems might charge it but 2.0 not likely. I have run into the same thing trying to get a quick charge on my motorola razer cell phone and I carry the driver on a flash dri've.
Once my zen M:30 did power up it appeared that the firmware had a problem. There is a recovery program which solved that and updated the firmware to the latest version. Since the unit worked until I turned it off I can only assume the error was caused by the deep discharge of the battery over 9 months. I did find it interesting that the 30 gig Microsoft zune crashed over leap year issues yesterday. I hope the older Zen firmware did not hav the same problem. :-)?
Anyhow the link to the recovery tool is here

Good luck friend. Oh and the wallplug charger is a good investment. accessorygeeks on the web carries or did carry an assortment of things for the M series; cases screencovers garanteed third party chargers and usb cables

  • Max Number of files supported by new Zen Touch Firmwar

    Hello
I used to have about 34gigs of music on my zen touch with the old firmware. But now it will only accept about 20 gigs. Does anyone know what is the max number of files that zen touch supports with new firmware ?
    Thank You

Has anyone verified that this is true of MTP players as well? I doubt it'll be different (the tag-data library system is common to all Nomad-type Creative players, whether PDE or MTP), but with all the changes needed for MTP, it would be helpful.
I don't have a 40Gb Touch, which is really the kind of player you'd need to test this.
BTW, I was referring to the overall capacity limit, which is tied more to space than to number of songs; that was what Creative was talking about when they said MTP reduces the Touch's song capacity. Having a Micro myself, I've never had enough capacity to test the internal song limits.
Free space is pretty obvious, and the initial question was relating to number of files and any potential limit. I'm not sure what it is about MTP that reduces the space, whether it's the firmware, file system, or some addition to the files.

  • Upgrading Zen Touch Firmware -- Crashed - Now Won't Work.

    Hi all,
First post on the forum so go easy on me! )
OK, I brought a zen touch a few years back, and it worked fine etc. Went travelling mid July last year and put it into storage.
Come home (UK) this month, got it out of storage and booted it up, all working fine, playing music, transfering new files fine etc.
Went online with it connected to my poota and decided to check for updates etc.
Thought it would be good to upgrade the firmware, so downloaded the latest version 2..0 ... backed up all my music, then ran the firmware upgrade, it said to plug in the touch, which I did, and off it went upgrading...
0 minutes went by, and it was stuck on blue bar, still saying it was upgrading. I looked at the touch and it said 'recovery mode'...
OK, I thought, it's still going, so off I went to make a cup of tea and came back about 5 minutes later ... still nothing, same thing on the touch, but the upgrade firmware on the poota had stopped responding and so I took the reluctant decision to unplug the touch and reboot the poota.
Whilst the poota was rebooting, I turned the touch off and back on, it said 'firmware problem' and asked me to go through recovery...
So I cleaned it, formatted it, then rebooted. It still said 'firmware problem' .. so, I clicked on reload firmware on the touch, and it said reload firmware via usb, I clicked yes, and it said erasing firmware and that it was ready for the firmware to be reloaded. So I went back to my poota and clicked on the firmware upgrade programme and it said connect the touch, which was strange as the touch was already connected....
The touch was recognised by the poota when I plugged it in, but the hard dri've size was only 20mb instead of 20gb, which I thought was a bit strange...
And this is as far as I can get.
The touch is recognised by the poota as it shows up on the dri've page, but its only got 20mb registered instead of the 20gb the touch is (although when cleaning the touch it said 20gb available on the touch screen!!) ... I can click on the touch dri've icon and it opens up the dri've but again only saying it is 20mb in size. And also very strange is that when I click on properties on the touch it says the firmware is 2.0.04-0.00.0 ....
When I click on the firmware upgrade programme it says the touch is not connected!?!
When I click on nomad it says not connected....
I've tried the recovery thingy but it says that the touch is not connected!!
    But it is connected!
    HELP!!
    Info that you might need:
    Zen Touch Model No: DAP-HD004
Poota running Win XP sp2 and also tried it on Win Vista Basic
Anything else you need to know just ask.
    Any help is really appreciated!!
    Cheerz
    Mike

Hmmmm, guess the problem is unfixable then....

  • Please help !! with zen touch 2

i have problem with my Zen touch 20 GB. How i can reload a firmware and load a update of drivers and other stuff. I just can't operate it. Only thing what i can do it's just switch it on and nothing is going on. please because its very expensi've (for me stuff

These types of problems can be tricky to solve. It sounds like the MTP detection has failed on your PC for some reason.
You need to choose Reload OS from recovery mode, then connect to the PC and see if the player is detected. If it is then run the firmware update again.
If it isn't detected then look at DM's reply in this thread, and also the advice via the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.

  • Zen Touch Firmware Upgr

A while ago I read something about an upgrade comming.
When are we going to see this? There are some issues with the Touch I'd like to see fixed. such as better playlist making and editing on the unit itself.

zen-master wrote:Is it anticipated that this new firmware upgrade will allow synch'ing playlists on WMP0 with the Z-Touch?
It should offer full integration with WMP0, so syncing should be part of it I would imagine. We'll know for sure when it's released.
