Troubleshooting a paper jam and print cradle.

Hi
The print cradle cannot sometimes move to it's right position in my HP All-in-one Photosmart C3180 printer.
I have tried several things and also been talking to customer support in Norway and in the U.S. about my isssues with the printer. It seems that my printer has done it's last printing job, but I'm looking for more help if there's another troubleshooting or if people here in the support forum knows about other procedures which can fix my printer.
* Checklist of what I've done
1. Resetting the printer accurately.
2. Uninstall/install all print cartridges.
3. Looking for any paper jams or barriers which can cause the print cradle to not move. But there are no barriers.
The cradle sometimes wont get back to it's position only.
3. Cleaning the printer (doesn't work because of the cradle wont move.
4. Cleaning the cradle and sensors.

Hello @AKAJEF ,
Thank you for joining us on the HP Forums today, hope you enjoy your time with us!
At this point all I can say is it is a hardware issue and you are looking at replacing the printer.
Sorry to be the person that had to tell you that but I can't offer any more direction past what you have already done. I would recommend calling phone support back and seeing what options they have for you.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
I hope this helps. Sorry that I couldn't be of any help, printers are hard to deal with when it comes to hardware as replacement parts aren't sold separately.
I worked for HP.

  • Paper jam when printing photo from Microsoft Photo Editor

On my C7280, I want to print a photo from Microsoft Photo Editor onto plain 8.5x11 paper. This always produces a paper jam. If I copy/paste the photo into, say, Word, and print from Word, the document prints properly.
This is not a "false paper jam" - the printer attempts to feed the paper, and jams (and creases) the paper in the attempt.
In Photo Editor, I explicitly chose "plain paper" and "main tray", rather than automatic settings.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello @Lonewolf777 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are getting paper jams when printing from your Android device.
    I would like to help.
Have you tried to print using the HP ePrint app?
Also, if you are having problems using the in OS print system, install the HP Print Service Plug in.
It acts like a print driver for your phone.
If it is already installed, try the old, uninstall and reinstall trick.
Alternately, you can call the folks over at the HP Cloud Services department.

  • I customize my paper size and print size and am then viewing a photo on my screen. I print it out and it chops off about 5% of all edges of my original photo on the screen. Why does it do that? It is driving me crazy. I use an Epson Photo 2200 printer.

What print and paper sizes are you using?  Are you trying to print a borderless print?  Does your printer support borderless for that particular size?  Are you printing to the custom stock size or to a larger stock size?

    Hi @Uguessedit,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I am sorry to hear that your HP Officejet 6600 refurbished printer is worse than your previous printer, but I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need some additional information:

  • Hp INkjet 3545 paper jam and improper shutdown messages

I bought and new packed piece of Inkjet 3545 all in one printer about 2 days back. After installation of the cartridges, black and tri color, and closing the top lib, the printer has been persistent with a paper jam message. The display tells me that there is a jam, but i have checked very tohoroughly everywhere. not a piece of a paper. The printer was box packed when i received and it has been in this adamant loop ever since.
Also along with this paper jam issue, the printer always tells me that last shutdown  was "an improper shutdown". I have tried with the shutdown button and with a reset to factory settings also. Nothign seems to work. Can someone help me with this. I checked the  discussion board ad many folks have similar issues. But none of the suggestions seem to work for me.

    Hello @nazgul,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Deskjet 3545 prompting with a paper jam message. I will do my best to assist you! Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference.
Follow this entire HP document on A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel. Please double check to make sure there is no paper within this printer.
If your printer is stating "Improperly shutdown", this is fine. It just means you unplugged the printer in a different way. Please try this reset on your printer. Leave the printer turned on>Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for more than 60 seconds. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

  • Hp Officejet Pro L7590 Paper Jam and Ink is not working well

My HP Officejet Pro L5790 says paper jam, but I went through all of the printer, and there is no jam. When doing to self printing test, the ink is not full on the page. There are lines through the words making it difficult to read. It is as though the cartridge is low or empty, but the cartridge is brand new and all the cartridge levels are fine.

    Hello DakotaRidge,
I understand that you're having issues with your Officejet Pro L7590. I will do what I can to help you.
I have two documents for you to attemp for the issues you have specified.
For the paper jam message try this one: 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel or the Computer.
And for the ink/printing issue try: Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
Please let me know if this was helpful.

  • HP Laser 3700 Paper Jam Duplex Printing

    Hi,
A local charity is using the above printer but now there is a problem with Paper Jam.
Single sded printing works fine but duplex printing causes a paper Jam.
It says tray 2 jam.  The paper gets stuck in the flap above tray 2 and doesn't seem to move any further.
Please help . Is this fixable?  What do I need to check?
    Many Thanks

In the printer settings on you computer, have you selected the right grade of paper? Ensure you select Photo Paper of the right type (matt or gloss) and correct weight/thickness.
EDIT: just noticed that the original post is over 4 years old! However, for anyone stumbling across this with a similar problem, it may be useful (I experienced exactly what the original post describes when I forgot to set the paper type to Photo).
Note: I do not work for HP, I just like playing with calculators :-)

  • Print message print cartridge cannot move because of paper jam but the paper jam has been cleared.

My Envy 4502 printer message window says that the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction.  There was a paper jam and I cleared it but the message "the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction" remains there and I cannot remove it or get the printer to print.  I tried everythng listed in the troubleshooting section of the help guide in the software.  I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it which didn't help  in the slightest--the message about the print cartridge is still there.  I also tried unplugging the printer overnight (to try to clear the memory)  and this also did not help--that message is still there.  By the way, I can easily move the printer cartridge by hand and I can hear the cartridge moving when the printer attempts to work.  I would appreciate any help from anyone to get my printer to  work again!

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

  • HP Photosmart D7160 paper jam error and clicking sound

I have a D7160 that has been working great, and yesterday started making a clicking sound when I start it up. It clicks and sort of grinds when I turn it on, and then the screen says there is a paper jam and that I should open the back and remove the paper.
I have never run stickers, labels or other items through the printer. I have only used HP photo paper in it, and occasionally printed on regular copy paper. No thin papers, no paper jams, no stuck or torn paper.
This printer literally sat for about two years at my parent's house unused until they loaned it to me about a month ago. I doubt there have been more than 250 pages put through it total.
My other HP printer broke a lever inside of it, so I have to take the side panel off of it to make it "understand" that the cover is closed. I'm wondering if this is something similar (a broken gear or lever), but I can't figure out where to look or what it might be.
Thanks for any help you can give!
    Michelle

This happens periodically.  Evenutally it "fixes itself," but I'm not sure what it is.  I've cleaned the rollers, the toner heads, printed an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet (which prints fine), reloaded paper, made sure paper was not curled or there wasn't too much in the tray, made sure the side hold bar wasn't too tight, etc. etc.  Try disconnecting the printer from both power and the PC.  Reboot, then reconnect the printer.  Print a test page.  Try again.
