Troubleshoot FCP 7 installation

Hi everyone,
Just bought a new Mac and immediately upgraded to Yosemite when I opened it. I'm trying to install FCP 7 and every time the installation begins and then stops mid-way stating 'Installation Failed'. I'm new to Mac...is there any way to get this program to install?

ASk this question in FCP studio forum. This is FCPX forum

    # uname -a
    SunOS xxxxxxxx 5.8 sun4u sparc SUNW,Netra-240
    # pkginfo -p | wc -l

The failed packages are all pretty much font packages.
But I'm unable to start VNC due to related X problems.
    Example package...
    # pkginfo -p | grep SUNWxwoft
system SUNWxwoft X Window System optional fonts
    # pkgadd SUNWxwoft
[ Already installed, will attempt to override. ]
Then I get a bunch of errors...

    ERROR: attribute verification of
    </usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/fonts.dir> failed

    ERROR: attribute verification of
    </usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/fonts.alias.all> failed

How do I go about troubleshooting WHY they failed?
    The directory /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/ exists.
(And so do all of the other directories that failed, too.)

Yes, I think so. There is no functionality (that I know of) that will advise non-global zones of pkg installations. The proper way to handle this is by using inherited filesystems
    via LOFI.
And, really, this isn't missing functionality... I wouldn't call it a feature, per se, but it's the right thing to do. There is no reason to inflict a new package into all of my zones just because I need a new package for this or that. Think of it as a security concern.
There should be any reason you can't just add the pkg into the non-global zone itself if it's going to install into a non-inherited directory. I do this all the time for QA purposes.

  • FCP Minimum Installation Question

    FCS 2—
I'm looking to install my copy of FCP on a MacBook Pro in order to dump P2 footage to it during a shoot I have going this week. I'm not interested in installing or using the whole suite. I simply need FCP for moving my footage off of my P2 cards (Log and Xfer) so I can keep shooting.
Is there a way to put FCP and only FCP on a MacBook Pro? If not, what's the minimum program set I can get away with?

During the install process you can chose to install only the application(s) you want. If you want ti install ALL of the applications in FCS, they only take up about 4gb of space. You can elect not to install the extra content (58gb) at all, or you can install them on another volume.

  • Troubleshooting Management Point installation on site system

    Hello,
I am trying to install MP on site system, where DP and SMP are installed already. But installing of MP fails. In the Event Viewer on site system I see:
component SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on computer SCCM.contoso.com reported:  Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
I did not find mpsetup.log on site system, where is it stored? where is not such folders \program files\microsoft configuration manager or sms_ccm.

Start by looking in the sitecomp.log file on the Site Server. This should give you information about the MP component installation adn why it failed. Then have a look at the
mpsetup.log which you will find on the server where you added the MP. It will be in the
    <Driveletter>:\SMS\Logs folder

  • Help troubleshoot ID trial installation - locate ID software?

    Hi,
I'm having trouble locating the ID software after installing the trial version. Can someone walk me through the steps? I have an IBM, Windows XP, and restarted my computer after the installation. The files are on my desktop, but can't find the actual application and it doesn't show up in my start menu (like when you install new programs). I'm at a loss.
    Thanks!

Are there any free trials available that will work with XP?
    Thanks for the quick reply!

  • Fcp new-installation

Few weeks ago I lost my Boris Effects folder after an upgrade.
Now I have time and I can reinstall my fcp pro studio applications, hopefully with Boris again.
I just took the FCP Applications in the Trash, and emptied it, and tried again everything to install.
When it asked me to insert the Motion 2 disc inside, I put it in but it was rejected. Then I tried again to make everything from begin, but it rejected my Livetype Media 1 disc, instead of Motion 2.
    Has anyone an idea?
    thanks

  • Server 2012 R2 STD RODC Installation Failure

    Hello,
I am running into issues installing a Windows Server 2012 R2 RODC, i have pre-created the RODC account, and set the proper delegation permissions. I have DNS configured properly and verified everything in DNS is good,
i also verified the firewall between sites and everything is open for AD traffic, all communication is also good. I'm not sure if this is isolated to 2012 R2 RODC installations, because a couple months back i successfully implemented a 2008 R2 RODC. Anyways,
the error i keep seeing in the wizard, powershell and dcpromo logs are " The wizard cannot access the list of domains in the forest. the error is: the specified network name is no longer available. Below is part of the error, i can  get the full

    Hi,
As far as I know, this problem can occur if a domain controller in the domain has not registered an "A" record for itself in DNS.
To solve this issue, we can add the A record for the domain controller with the
ipconfig /registerdns command. Flush the DNS cache on the computer running the Active Directory Installation Wizard by using the
    ipconfig /flushdns command.
Regarding this error, the following articles can be referred to for more information.

  • Oracle 11g SOA-BPM PS3 Installation Help

I'm not a super techie, so installing the latest release from Oracle was a challenge, but I encountered a number of problems and kept notes of what I did to solve it. Many of these hints came from the Forum, but nothing had all of the relevant info under one thread. So here is what I pieced together. If this is helpful to anybody, I'd love to hear it - either on this thread or at my e-mail address of [email protected]. My thanks to Linus Chow of Oracle for some help and allowing me to think I could do this!
    Comments/Suggestions on Oracle 11g SOA-BPMN PS3 Installation_
Suggest downloading all files into a common directory. I stuck this folder at the root (C:) drive. At collectively just over 5 GBs, the downloading will take several hours (for me it was a full day, as did the installation). You will need an OTN account to be able to download the software. A good overview of PS3 is at the following link: http://blogs.oracle.com/bpm/2011/01/bpm_suite_11gr1_ps3_released.html.
General comment/suggestion. Be sure to name the aforementioned folder without any spaces (big problems if this is done because of how unzipped files do/don’t work with a path name with spaces in it). As the installs get started, note that an Oracle directory (under the root) with a default name for the middleware directory, named Middleware, is created as the default.
The link with the installation is actually helpful, but it is incomplete (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bpm/downloads/index.html). Some of the detail needed is in the quick installation guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/install.1111/e14318/toc.htm, and I suggest downloading the PDF version), but the order conflicts with the previous information. I resolved this by using the latter for detail, but the former for the sequence. I also had to turn to several blogs/forums (the main one being: http://blogs.oracle.com/SOA/2009/08/installing_oracle_soa_suite_11.html) to get help on troubleshooting problems with the installation (see below for others).
I have a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit version, but I ended up following the path for the 32-bit install path (see the main link cited above), mostly because it was unclear to me what the 64-bit path would be. I also already had the 32-bit version of the JRE installed. The following links cover identifying the differences and what you may have installed as well as alternative versions to download: http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/index_general.xml?user_os=Windows%207; http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml; and http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Another general comment/suggestion. I found it useful to reboot after each step. It shut down services that I would otherwise have to search for and shut down manually. Some of the installations require services activated by previous steps to be turned off, so you’re better off doing something like this rather than encountering such an error in a subsequent step.
Step 1: Installing the XE database. The file is an .exe file, and will execute upon a double click. However, the instruction regarding RCU is best saved until the 3rd step, doing it just before you install the RCU. More importantly, there are some things to keep in mind about the database install. First, after installation, you should sign on to the DB, using the Go To DB Home Page option under the Express Edition (XE) folder or set of menu options (created as part of the installation), under the SYSTEM user account. During installation, you’ll have to have given a password for this account, so make sure it is one you can remember. After signing on as SYSTEM, give the SYS user account another (or same) password that you can remember. You will use the SYS account in subsequent steps. Second, there is a parameter for the database that must be changed from the default. This is covered in the links below: http://blogs.oracle.com/tridib_samanta/2010/03/rcu-6107db_init_param_prerequisite_failure_for_processes.html and http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1004605. To solve this, select SQL button on the DB home page, then SQL Commands button on the next page, paste/enter into the pane at the top the following command, “ALTER SYSTEM SET processes=300 SCOPE=SPFILE;” (but without the quotes), and then click on the Run button. (The parameter must be greater than or equal to 200, but I found references to setting in equal to 300 or 500.) Then you can log out and close the web page.
At times, the DB might not be started when you are expecting it to be running (e.g., after a reboot), which is covered in this link: Oracle 10g database homepage not working? (You’ll know that it is isn’t running if you try to open the Go To DB Home Page option and it won’t open, displaying an error page instead.) I found that the simplest way to fix this was to go to the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, and then look to see if the OracleServiceXE service is started. If not, then restart by right-clicking on that service listing and choosing the appropriate option to execute.
Step 2: Installing WebLogic Server. Either before or during this process, you will need to set up an Oracle Support Account. However, you need a customer ID to be able to create a profile. I was thus not able to complete a profile, so the WLS installation defaulted to the Anonymous registration option. This still needed an e-mail address though, the same one with which you would create the Oracle Support profile, so you should have one at the ready. (It would not accept the e-mail address for my OTN account.) As far as I can tell, the consequence of this path is that I cannot automatically get patches and such. I figure this is a problem to be solved another day. The Oracle Support links are: https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/faq_en.html#SignIn and https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html.
If you go with the default, the middleware directory is just Middleware under the Oracle directory. If you select a different name or location, you will need to remember where it is and what the name is. You should also note the folder name for where the JDK was stuck, which for me was JDK160_21 under the Middleware directory.
Step 3:  Installing RCU. The trickiest of the steps. Unlike with the previous two steps, this installation first happens after the downloaded file is unzipped. You MUST unzip into a directory for which the full path name (and not just the one you create upon extraction) is without any spaces. (You can use the underscore symbol instead of a space to indicate separation.) Unzip the folder/files, and then open the Command Prompt window. Using the cd command, work your way to the full path name to where you just unzipped these files. Next, continue to work your way down to subfolders created during the extraction process. You want to end up at the rcuHome\BIN\ subfolder. THEN do the RCU-related command cited in Step 1. Type in at the prompt the following command and hit enter: set RCU_JDBC_TRIM_BLOCKS = TRUE. Then, type in rcu.bat at the prompt and hit enter, which will run the installation and configuration sequence. This is realized through a series of windows that open for you to input information and make selections. Use the document at the following link of specific guidance as to what the configuration screens should have entered on them: http://blogs.oracle.com/SOA/2009/08/installing_oracle_soa_suite_11.html. This includes things like the service name (XE) and the host name (localhost) to enter, assuming you are installing this on a laptop or PC for local use only. Some other helpful links for troubleshooting the RCU installation are located at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14259/rcu.htm#CIHGHDBG; http://oraclebi.blogspot.com/2010/08/rcu-and-what-it-means-for-you.html ; Re: RCU 11.1.1.4 install fails on Oracle XE and http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2162409&tstart=0&messageID=9336791.
The RCU sets up DB schemas and the like for the BPMN and SOA stuff. The screenshots in the previously mentioned document should be followed exactly. You can also refer to pp. 5-6 of the Quick Installation Guide. You should use the SYS user account (the default, I think), so have the password handy.
I also found it more comforting to shutdown the RCU installation/configuration via the cancel option than to keep going back a screen to fix something. This may not have been necessary, but it made me feel better. Be prepared for interim screens that pop up to show that the installation/configuration is happening, which will also tell you there are errors. One such screen says that XE isn’t supported for RCU, but you can ignore that (as the supporting guidelines indicate).
Step 4:  Installing JDev. This is an executable, and you just install with all of the defaults. This process will start the WLS as part of the installation, so you must turn it off before going to the next step. Again, I just rebooted to do this.
Step 5:  Installing SOA Extensions for JDev. Instructions on the page at the main link are clear and correct. The 2 screen shots must be reviewed and adhered to completely in checking off options. The first selection defines the areas where updates are to be sought out, while the second selection is from the available option(s) from those areas. In this case, you are only installing the SOA Composite Editor, though there are several other updates/extensions from which to select (but don’t, at least for now).
Step 6: Installing BPM Extensions for JDev. Same comment as for Step 5, except that the option you want to select is not as what is indicate (the BPM Composite Editor) but the BPM Process Studio! I would advise against doing these as part of the same update sequence. In fact, I closed out JDev completely (though I did not reboot) between Step 5 and Step 6.
Step 7 and 8:  Installing SOA Suite. I suggest unzipping both of the downloaded zip files. Again, it is critical that the full path name into which files are extracted contains no spaces. Once unzipped, you should navigate to the Disk1 folder under the directory into which the first zip file was extracted, but you should do this with the Command Prompt window and the cd command. From this prompt, you should type in “setup.exe -jreLoc {location of JDK}” (without the quotes) and hit enter. The {location of JDK} is where the JDK was installed as part of the WLS installation. For me this was in folder JDK160_21 under the Middleware folder in the Oracle directory. Refer to pp. 12-15 of the Quick Installation Guide. This took me a couple of tries before I actually got the installation screen to show up correctly. Some of what this looks like is also in the following link: http://blogs.oracle.com/SOA/2009/08/installing_oracle_soa_suite_11.html.
What you may eventually figure out is that 5 installation disks are stretched across two zip files. Once the installation of disks 1 and 2 are done, a popup window will ask you to browse to the folder where each of the next 3 disks are, which is in the folder created by the extraction of files/folders from the second zip file for the SOA Suite. As with previous steps, I rebooted after all of this was done.
Step 9:  Installing the Business Process Converter. Unzip the downloaded file, and open the Installation Instructions Word file. It will instruct you to point JDev’s update sequence to another zip file extracted during the unzipping of the downloaded zip file for the converter. JDev will install this without much fuss or muss, but this installation is to the Studio and not to BPA. (For installation to BPA, you need to have installed BPA, and followed the other guidance in the instructions.) To get to JDev’s update sequence, follow the same first step as in Step 5, but check the option to browse for and upload from a local file. This local file will be the previously mentioned other zip file.

  • WSUS reinstall on 2012 SCCM server post-installation task fails to run/finish

I had to re-install WSUS on a 2012 R2 SCCM server (Windows 2012), and am running into several issues re-installing. It may help to point out that the SCCM SQL server is remote, so this isn't a WSUS / SQL 2012 issue.
The sticky post at the top of the WSUS forum has helpful troubleshooting information, and I have tried going through this as well as many other threads on this very topic of re-installing WSUS.
    1. Roles for WSUS and WID were removed successfully. The WSUS Website was manually deleted from IIS. As this is a SCCM server, removing the IIS role is not an option.
    2. I removed the existing WID database files for SUSDB
    3. After rebooting, I verified registry keys were gone, system files were cleaned up, and deleted the program files\update services directory
    4. This isn't a permission issue, as I have clearly installed this before on this server.
    5. Registry keys, system files, and susdb files no longer exist, and the server has rebooted cleanly.
    6. I am able to add the WSUS role selecting WID, and this installs WID without any errors. At this point, simply clicking the post installation task fails, generates an empty .tmp file in my %appdata%\temp folder, and exits the MMC.
    7. This file is blank. Absolutely empty, so I couldn't really troubleshoot any post installation tasks.
    8. Further investigation shows that the 'C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\' directory is gone, and isn't being
    generated.
    9. Ok... DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /Scanhealth didn't return any issues, so I copied the wsusutil out of the windows\WinSxS directory.
    10. Yey! wsusutil postinstall runs, but bombs out on the IIS portion. It generated the DB without an issue, but results
in an IIS generation error. So, I installed WSUS on a clean 2012 install, then copied over the program files\updateServices directory to reclaim the missing files.
    The log files show --

... ok - tripple checked that network service has permissions to .net and windows\temp folders.
netstat -a doesn't show anything running on port 8530 ( in case this was some weird port check in use)
Which goes back to the missing directory problem -- further net searches show that this is a reoccurring issue for some OOBE... sfc /verifyonly shows ... nothing.
What is left to be done at this point? The missing folders from the program directory seems to be a problem for some with some users right out of the box. I have read many other threads where users just formatted and started over. Not exactly a solution
    - any help out there on this issue? Any suggestions to determine what file is missing, or generating the IIS issues?

Part of the post install tasks wanted to download some items including the tools folder.
Can you expand on this please. The WSUS post-install tasks do not download anything, except what is acquired during the initial synchronization with Microsoft.
Because of my group policy the WSUS server was trying to download the updates from itself even though it was not setup yet.
What update(s) was the WSUS server trying to "download"?
In fact, if the WSUS Server was not setup yet (but you already had a GPO in place), then the first issue here was performing deployment steps out of order.
But still.... except for the actual installation binaries for the WSUS Server Role on a WS2008SP2/WS2008R2 system, there's nothing the WSUS server needs to get from either Windows Update or a WSUS server. This scenario is actually discussed hundreds of times
in this forum, but complicating matters, this thread isn't about installing WSUS V3.2 on a WS2008SP2/WS2008R2 system, it's about installing WSUS v65 on a WS2012 system, so I'm a bit confused as to what the actual installation environment is that we're discussing.
I changed the WSUS server to get it's windows updates from Microsoft and then the post install task succeeded.
I'd really like to get some more details about what exactly in the "post-install task" was dependent upon content from WU/WSUS.

  • Error during installation phase when upgrading  from oracle 10 to 11g

    hi,
We have going to upgrade oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 in SAP ECC 6.4(DB:oracle, OS:AIX6.1). By mistake I run RUNINSTALLER from wrong path oracle/stage/11203 <dump folder>/database instead of SAP folder.it gives some error message during installation but i continue to installation and installation is completed.
now i worried about error and and wrong path selection, i removed manually new oracle home folder 112_64 and continue to new installation from proper path but now i am getting below error when running RUNINSTALLER from SAP folder
"[INS-10008] Session Initialization failed".and log are  as

  • Tiger 10.4.3 Upgrade installation ends with "Error Occurred"

Nothing like ambiguity to help troubleshoot a software installation. (I've installed Mac OS's since 1986, so before those of you who like to flame people with problems with your favorite platform get out your flame-throwers, stop in your tracks. Comment only if you actually have something constructive to say. I'm a bigger mac-head than you.)
I have a PMG5 1.8ghz single processor rig running 10.3.9 that I got back in April (right before the free Tiger upgrade period). This weekend I bought a copy of Tiger from MacMall, along with a new iMac CoreDuo for the wife. I got it today and attempted to install it. It ran all sorts of checks, and began the installation. It seemed to progress well, albeit slowly. I got tired of waiting and took a nap before I had to go to work. I got up later to find that it ended with "Error Occurred".
Well, I thought it may be a situation of just needing another pass at it. So, I instigated the upgrade again, and asked my family to check after it. They just called to say that "Error Occurred" again.
A few things that might be of use to someone who has gone down my path and has an answer:
    - I left all my peripherals attached before the installation, including an external USB 2.0 drive.
-The RAM in the computer consists of 256 mb installed by Apple, and 1gb from Crucial installed by me.
-I have installed all the firmware updates that I could find, including the one that came out specifically for my model of PMG5.
-I had 25 gb's of free space on the drive being upgraded.
-The drive being upgraded was the one that came with the computer, which was bought from the Apple Store (no third-party junk).
Anyone have any suggestions for me? I would greatly appreciate anything you could suggest. I certainly hope that a simple OS upgrade with an installer disk that should be mature by now hasn't hosed my Mac.

Hi Glen, Welcome back to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
    No Flames, I promise.
Is the CoreDuo the new Intel version? (Pardon MY ignorance.)
Some 10.4.5 Disks are machine specific. Do you have the right ones?
Try reinstall w peripherals disconnected. That seems to be standard upgrade advice round here.
