Troubleshooting a Vobulator Error, Line 332 - Chapter Marker Problem? Is Beginning of Timeline OK?

Hi, I am getting the vobulator error on a Encore CS6 project...
"internal software error: Vobulator\Title Planner|CVOBUPlanner.cpp, line 332"
I have spent a couple hours tonight reading all the forum discussions I can on this trying to troubleshoot my problem.
First question I have is regarding the advice of "no chapter markers on the end of a timeline".
Does the beginning of my timeline qualify as an "end" that I should not have a chapter marker on?
I have one timeline in this project with about 18 chapters in it.
The first chapter is at the beginning of the timeline - seems logical to me to put a Chapter 1 in at the start.
But maybe that is wrong, since the begining of the timeline IS the starting point of the DVD?
But how can you label the start (i.e. I want to lable it "Act 1") if you don't use a chapter marker?
Also I noticed the Chapter 1 Marker got moved in to the 1 second point after transcoding. I set the chapter in premiere pro cs6 at the 0:00:00 point.
Some details on my Encore CS6 Project...
1 Video Timeline in Encore, Dynamically Linked from Premiere Pro CS6
No Menus
No Other graphics
Intent is to Auto play on loading, and stop at end action, with chapters in between for skipping around by user.
I get this error when I try to build a DVD Image. I get no errors when building a Bluray image.
Premiere Pro CS6 Project...
raw video was shot as 1080p24 video from a Canon Vixia HF S21
a few cross disolve transition at beginning and end
a few graphics at beginning (but I have successfully used all of these same graphics in other Encore projects without error).
-Thanks for your help.

Yes, not having a chapter marker at the end only refers to the end that is at the end. Not the end that is at the other end.
While logically the question is a good one, Encore puts a chapter marker at the beginning whether you want one or not. And one way to get this problem is to think  you've faked Encore out by putting the first chapter marker two frames in.
You can label Encore's Chapter 1. I thought you had to wait till you were in Encore, but in CS6 at least, you can name it in Premiere,
If you are seeing a chapter at one second; you may have 2. In a test, Encore does not move the marker when I transcode.
Be sure you are not seeing a poster frame marker.
And it may be a different chapter marker or some other problem that is throwing the error.
I assume there is only one Premiere sequence on your one timeline, correct?
From your description, I would look for an accidental chapter marker too close to another one.
I would start over with a new Encore project.

Can someone please help.  In the flowchart, I am unable to drag a line from menu item to chapter markers.  I get a circle with a line through it.  I had to connect menu with chapter markers through the properties panel.  The video asset for that chapter marker is not appearing in the box above the title of that menu?

  • Chapter Marker Problem - Similar to post but not solved

This is my first export since upgrading; in the past all I've ever done was create chapter markers, export to QT and import into DVSPro and poof done. Life is good. Now there are no markers in DVSP. I read a thread about this same problem and it was solved with a right-click to "Add Embedded Markers." That doesn't work for me. The green markers appear in the Timeline & Canvas. I did intentionally put markers into the video & audio tracks themselves so that when I added footage at the front of the sequence I knew where to add markers into the timeline. But, again, there are chapter markers in the Timeline that show in the Canvas. HELP.

EXPORT DIRECTLY THROUGH COMPRESSOR from FCP.
It succks but the quality (especially sync sound) is best. The time is SLOW though!
Oh...don't forget when you lay down your tracks to right click on the time line in DVDSP to "show embedded markers.
    I guarantee this will work!!!

  • QTpro chapter marker problems

The chapter title list in the pop-up menu to the right of the timeline is not reflecting what I typed into the text file. Everything works fine up until the point where I deselect the check mark in the text track. I'm using numbers as chapter markers so after entering them 1,2,3,4,5 I end up with 1,1,3,3,5. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

That's correct, clip markers will not be written out to a QT Movie (or to directly Compressor) in any way that DVDSP can read.
The only exception is if you're exporting a clip directly from the Viewer. But I don't know anyone who does that.
I put markers in the clip intentionally so they would remain when using the speed utility to slow down captured video from old film that is too fast. If I am not able to get them into DVDSP along with the clip, is there a method to convert or transfer them to the top of the timeline (and make them green) so DVDSP will recognize them?
No method to convert or transfer clip markers to timeline markers. Clip markers need to be recreated in the Timeline and, of course, flagged as Chapter markers.

  • IPad chapter marker problem

My video has discrete sections with one second of black between each. Chapter markers are inserted on the first video frame of each section, making each section a chapter. When the video is selected on iPad and played back as a whole it works fine, skipping chapters works just as it should, moving to the first video frame of each chapter. However if a chapter is selected from the chapter menu, playback does not begin where the marker is. Rather, playback begins one or two seconds before the marker, either in the black that falls between chapters or in the end of the previous chapter. This problem is only true when the video is played on the device, it plays back in iTunes perfectly. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

If you make changes to an iMoive that was already in an iDVD project it's recommended you start over with a new project.  There's a bug/problem with iDVD in it  does not deal with modified assets in an existing project.

  • Chapter marker problems

I set chapter markers in Final Cut Pro using the "edit marker" Dialog. and when I exported, under markers, I tried choosing "chapter markers" and "DVD studio pro markers" both. Neither one worked....when I imported in DVDSP there were no markers. Is there something else that has to be set in DVDSP to get it to recognize the chap. markers?

  • Troubleshooting a publishing error

I ran in to my first publishing error when updating my blog this morning. Thought my experience might help others.
The iWeb file would error out while uploading to .Mac. It didn't offer a reason for the error. It would just stop publishing.
I eliminated a photo file that might have been a problem. Still no luck.
I quit iWeb and relaunched. When iWeb opened it gave me a message about a missing file. Didn't tell me which one but I quickly found it, deleted it from the page and -- voila! -- it loads fine.
Quitting and reopening iWeb might help you locate a problem when the file won't publish.
    Good luck!

  • Adjusting chapter marker 'in' points

I have an MOV file which I've imported into iDVD. I want to set chapter markers at specific points (around 14 in total). The only option iDVD gives me is to create chapter markers every X minutes. I need to be more precise than that. Any suggestions on a work around?
The movie was created in FCE but because I needed to convert from PAL to NTSC it didn't give me the option to export the chapter markers.
    Cheers, Neil

Best to set all chapter markers within the video editing app itself.
In FCP and FCE you can do this by hitting the "M" key once while working within the timeline of your video. Hit it twice if you wish to bring up a dialog box so you can name each chapter marker or scene on the timeline. DVDSP will regognize all timeline chapter markers and name each scene accordingly. (I think iDVD6 will also do the same in terms of chapter recognition and names for each scene/chapter but i'd have to actually check to confirm).
    Hope this helps.

  • Chapter Marker Question

Since you can't do chapter markers in iMovie'08 anymore, how do you insert them into iDVD where you want them? I only found the "selection of movie", "advance", "set chapter markers" and there you can give a set interval. Well, that is stupid since I want a chapter marker at the beginning of a new chapter! How is that done now?

They were thinking that the DVD is dead. (which of course is wrong.)
It's almost right. Apple's just a little too early. Online content distribution isn't quite there yet. Going forward, I'm willing to bet that most video will be distributed online (purchases and rentals) once the mess of DRM gets sorted out. Rather than storing video on DVDs, people will just leave them on a network attached hard drive or computer and view them on their Apple TV or similar network aware video device. There will be no need to physically find the DVD that has a particular file on it when you can browse your entire video library (purchased, rented, home-made) on your network.
Music is already following this trend. Lots of people buy music online now, and once DRM is out of the way, many more will follow. There is no need (or desire) to carry around tonnes of CDs. You can have your entire music library on your Mac, iPod, etc. Video is slower to follow because of the higher bandwidth requirements, but it will eventually follow. Kudos to Apple for seeing this trend, but shame on them for trying to coerce us into adopting it before we're ready!

  • IDVD 6 Chapter Menu Buttons all leading to 1st Chapter/New problem.

I've got a pressing issue never previously encountered. iDVD 6 Chapter Menu Buttons all leading to 1st Chapter! I've tried reloading the iMovie file after checking chapter markers. The problem has persisted. This is due to client tomorrow. I've been trying to understand the problem since yesterday, but a workaround solution is acceptable now. Please respond soon. Thank you. -bhgallen

    bhgallen,
Were your chapter markers placed in accord with: Setting chapter markers at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/6.0/en/imv1110.html ?
It reads in part: IMPORTANT: You cannot add a chapter marker to the very beginning or end of your movie. (iMovie HD automatically adds an initial chapter marker at the beginning of a movie.) It's also a good idea not to add a chapter marker within a transition, or within one second of a transition or other chapter marker. If you do so, other applications may have trouble recognizing the chapter markers.

you did not define "n" or "d". You can declare them in the formula node code, or even easier, just add outputs with these names.

  • FCP Chapter Marker Limit for iDVD (muxing error)?

I'm attempting to create disc images in iDVD 7.0.3 for a 2 DVD set created in FCP 4.5. I've exported QT movies with chapter markers for both of my Disc A and Disc B projects. Disc A (1 hr 56 min and 16 chapters) writes just fine to disc image but Disc B (1 hr 40 min and 32 chapters) has given me fits for days, continually leading to "Muxing preparation (project conversion) error". I've tried a number of attempts at fixes per the forums to no avail (checking the placement of my chapter markers, avoiding special characters in marker names, etc.) I've even tried killing the "Scene Selection" menu. Is there a chapter marker limit in iDVD then? Have I really exceeded this with 32? I ask this for my latest test this morning in which I split the Disc B project into two (evenly splitting the content as well as # of chapters between test B-1 and B-2 projects) led to successful creation of disc images for both. However, I want to put the two back together again. Please help. Thank you.

Yes, I've heard that you should have either 15GB or 25GB free on your internal boot drive. I have 17GB available. Incidentally, my iDVD project files and disc images are being written to other drives attached to my system. I don't think this is the issue though since I've been operating in this environment for some time and have mastered a 2-DVD set a couple of months ago (2 hours on each disc) with no issues. I have even created another disc image of my 2 hour Disc A (to fix some editorial changes) with no issues. It's when it comes time to burn a DVD or write a disc image of my Disc B when it becomes an issue. Specifically, did you get the "there was an error during muxing preparation project conversion" error message then? Thanks.

  • Chapter Marker Not Recognized Error Message

I'm about to export a 15-minute Final Cut Sequence
with 23 separate Chapter Markers to Compressor for
use in DVD Studio Pro, but when I try, it gives me the error
    message that
"1 of your Chapter Markers is less than 1 second from your selection.
If you Continue, this Chapter Marker will be ignored."
    How do I
    a) Identify which of the 23 markers it is
    b) make the change (as I don't understand the error, all my markers are separated
by minutes if not many seconds)
    Thanks

You know, I actually had markers right on top of each other
    in middle of sequence
It's ready to export, i'm just not sure if
I need to enable Markers to export anywhere
    in Compressor or Final Cut
