Troubleshooting Printing PDF A3 format

Hello everybody!
So, I'm having trouble printing a newly made catalog that I've exported from ID6, I've been troubleshooting this for hours and I'm running low on ideas, maybe you can help me.
The problem is this: when I print the .pdf to an A4 booklet (using A3 paper) it refuses to print 3-4 pages in the middle of the catalog. The catalog is 44 pages total.
Here's all I know:
- It's always the same pages
- It works (=it prints all pages) if I print it in black and white
- It works if I only use A4 paper (both when I'm making it an A5 booklet and regular)
- I can print one page to A4 but it's bland if I try the same with A3 paper.
- We've never had this problem with our other catalogs
- The pages I'm having trouble with has photos, where the frame goes outside of the margins (but some other pages has this as well but it prints those just fine)
- I've tried clicking the "crop image data to frame" but it makes no difference
I DON'T know if it's the printer or if it's some sort of setting that I've missed but it's driving me absolutely insane right now.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, I'm printing from reader.
The thing is, I've re-saved the InDesign document and translated the contents, and I have the same problem with printing the new file as well. So that points to it being an indesign-problem.
But then again, I can print it just fine in black and white, which says it's either a reader- or printer problem...
That's why I can't figure out where the problem originates from.

  • Reader 10.1.4 will not print .pdfs

I have Reader 10.1.4, and I cannot print .pdfs, but anything else I sent to the printer works fine.
I have been to the "Troubleshoot Printing .pdfs" page 3 times, and several of the discussion on the forum, and followed all of the suggestions, including
    1) printing as image;
    2) using the "Repair Installation" menu option (which worked one time, but now I cannot get anything to print again);
    3) uninstalling and re-installing (with a fresh download from adobe.com) Reader, and then restarting my computer.
    Nothing has worked. Help?

I put some of that info in the initial post and tags, but you did note a few things I did not mention. To answer your questions (not necessarily in the order you asked):
I am trying to print to an HP C4280 printer, using Windows 7 64-bit. I know nothing about the description languages you mention.
I get the regular dialog box, and everything seems fine, but when I click "Print" nothing happens after the dialog box closes. (No hourglass / progress bar / error messages / etc.) The printer does not respond in any way, either.
One time I got something to print came after trying the "Repair Installation" menu choice. That time, another dialog box opened, indicating the transfer of information to the printer with a progress bar, and the page printed. But that only happened the one time. I have tried the Repair Installation option a couple more times since then, to no avail.
After posting this thread, I uninstalled Reader 10.1.4, and installed 9.5.0, and it printed my .pdf fine.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • When I Print a Document to PDF and Save a PDF the format displays differently.

We use PDF with Microsoft Dynamics GP. When we Print a document to PDF the format of the form is fine. When we SAVE a document to PDF the format is off. We believe we have ruled out application issues.

We are opening the document with Adober Reader. The same Application was used for both documents.
This image was printed from the Application to a PDF and opened in Adobe Reader.
This is the same document from the same application, but when we SAVE to a PDF the format of the gridlines is off.

You cannot save the PDF forms with data fields to Word unless you flatten the forms.
PDF form field values can be exported to tab delimited or csv files that can be opened in Execl.

  • Image file formats to use in print pdfs

We receive images from several vendors in order to build our catalogs in Adobe InDesign CS2, and then we export print pdfs from InDesign. We want to standardize our requirements for receiving images from vendors, and we had a question related to file formats. Is it okay to use jpeg files as long as they are in high-resolution CMYK format?
It is a part of our work flow to accept the images untouched from the vendor, no re naming of files, or changing f file formats. I understand that the safest bet is for EPS and TIFF formatted images, but will JPEG files be problematic in any way? Someone told me that because of their compressed format that some info could get lost when embedding into pdfs. Is there a book, or any printed documentation about what types of image file formats to use to create pdfs?
    Thanks,
    Elliott

    (1) There is nothing "unsafe" about JPEG-compressed images. However, JPEG compression is
lossy and depending upon the type of image, its resolution, and the compression settings used when creating the JPEG file, the results at the end of the workflow may not be satisfactory. That having been said, if JPEG compression is used for a photographic image (not a screen shot or an image representation of what should be a vector diagram), the "maximum quality" setting is used in producing the JPEG image (
not maximum compression), and the image is of appropriate resolution for its final purpose (at least 150 dpi, preferably closer to 300 dpi for printing) at full magnification, then there is nothing "unsafe" about JPEG.
    (2) You should be aware that saving images in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format from Photoshop may yield JPEG compression, depending upon options chosen. Thus, there is nothing inherently "safer" about EPS compared to JPEG. And ironically, you can also get JPEG compression in TIFF files if you aren't careful how you save them, although that is very uncommon.
    (3) CMYK is not necessary for image placement into InDesign as long as the image is tagged with the appropriate ICC color profile (such as sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc.). InDesign can convert those RGB images to whatever the final print conditions are or, if creating PDF, leave the images in RGB format with the ICC profile. How you create the output obviously depends heavily on what type of workflow your print service provider has. More "up to date" printers support color-managed workflows with ICC color profile tagged images in PDF files.
    (4) In terms of receiving images from vendors, if you require them to convert the images from whatever their native RGB color space is to CMYK, you really must specify
which CMYK and provide the correct ICC color profile to them! Different print processes use different CMYK color spaces. If you convert RGB to the wrong color space, the results can be awful. You are probably best off requiring that vendors submit photos in their original RGB color space, but tagged with the appropriate ICC color profile.

  • How to print pdf file to my Designjet 500+HPGL2 (C7769B)

    Hi,

But my CPU brokedown, so now I'm using a new PC. But now I can't print PDF files to our plotter. Even when I install the eprint & share software from you website.
I already check the possibility that I'm not connected to the printer but no because when I print test page, it is working. Please help. Thanks.

  • Converting files to PDF causing formatting issues.

    Hello.
I am experiencing issues with converting an Excel file to a PDF and retaining its format.  The first page converts fine, no formatting issue. But every page after that is shrinking the font and making the images smaller.  This employee has tried to save the Excel file as a PDF and tried printing it through the Adobe print driver, but both are producing the same issue.
The troubleshooting steps I have taken to try to resolve this issue are below.
    reinstall Adobe Acrobat
    tried modifying the margins
    tried a different machine
    Cleaned the Temp folder
Any suggestions on a fix for this?

    Hi Bill.
Thank you for the response.  I tested what you have suggested and this did not work.  When Adobe PDF printer is selected, it looks fine in the print preview, but once the Excel sheet has been processed, the format is not correct.  I tested this also with printing a hard copy to a printer, still the formatting looks fine in the print preview.  Once the file has been printed, it is not formatted the same. I have also removed the Adobe Driver and installed it again.  Still doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?

  • Report Rendering (Print & PDF) trashes report that looks fine on screen

Since installing SQL Server 2012 SP2 CU3 (11.0.5556) a number of reports look fine on screen but when printed or exported to PDF the format is totally altered so that either many blank lines are inserted between lines, or lines are squashed together. It
doesn't affect all reports. Reports (both affected and not affected) use Tablix with both Row Groups and Column Groups. There is no obvious consistency between those reports that are affected.
All of our SQL Server instances are hosted on VM-Ware virtual servers.
I've raised the issue via Microsoft Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/1063641/report-rendering-print-pdf-trashes-report-that-looks-fine-on-screen
Any thoughts or workarounds? Is this a bug?

  • Orarrp can't print pdf file directly to printer

oracle remote print utility (orarrp) can't print pdf file directly to printer.
we expect orarrp utility can handle ".rrpa" file (i.e. pdf file generated on the application server) by directly print the file to the client's printer, i.e. invoke the acrobat reader on the client side, display the the printer selection dialogue, after confirmation print the pdf file, then the acrobat reader close automatically nicely.
However we are disappointed as the acrobat reader startup and display the pdf file content but does not print and does not close.
After testing the problem several times, there are some findings:-
    Finding (A):-
    (a) for the success of direct printing of pdf file, a physical path must be provided; we have tried 2 methods:
    1) using drag & drop to copy the pdf file directly to the browser
    2) open pdf file in the browser directly using browser menu-->File-->Open.
    (b) for the failure of direct printing, a virtual path is involved and we have also tried 2 methods:
    1) when web.show_document() is used
    2) enter the url to the URL bar of the browser,
    eg. http://appsvr.com:7777/report/test_printout/APPSVR1094707.rrpa (this is a virtual path/url)
    Finding (B):-
(a)when the physical path is used, a temporary pdf file is generated in the same directory where the rrpa file exists in the application server,
e.g. in application server: d:/printout/yyy.pdf is generated for d:/printout/xxx.rrpa when direct print occurs
    (b) however when the virtual path is used, there is no such temp "pdf" file generated and direct print failed.
May be when virtual path is used, orarrp utility don't know where to generate the temp "pdf" so direct print doesn't occur.
So, anyone has similar experience or further queries or has solutions, please join.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • Can't Print PDFs in Lion

I am desperate for a solution.  Since installing Lion I can't print any PDFs.  Printer dialog box just shows constant loading, spooling.  I've had to send the PDF to myself in an email or download it through my son's PC laptop, connect his laptop to my printer and it prints from there fine.  Ridiculous waste of time when working on a big project. I am able to view PDFs and apparently also save them (only through the floating Adobe dialog bar that drifts up at the bottom of the screen) but the using the print icon there yields the same result as going to the top bar to File-Print.  I appears I have Adobe Reader 10.1.3, and I have Lion OS10.7.4 -
I won't be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion because I have a MacBook Late 2007 with a 2.2GHx Intel Core 2 Duo, and a HP Photosmart C4200.

    Smsurine:
For some reason I cannot find the Apple Preview app to open and print PDFs.  I looked at the hard disk and it appeared ok but did not want to mess with a repair on the Disk Utility - I'd go to the Genius Bar first.  I can view PDFs within Safari but it still wouldn't print.  So I updated to Safari 6.0 and updated my HP driver to what I think is 5.0  and still it wouldn't print PDFs - just continually says "sending data to printer".  But finally I found a troubleshooting guide on the HP Support site.  It is quite long.  Here is the link:

I went through all the steps and nothing was working (yes, I could print other documents in Word, etc., turned computer and printer on and off to clear memory, it wasn't on a network or peripheral, yes would print from another compter)  and finally - Under Solution two, step one: Print the PDF as an image worked!  I think I tried this before but it finally worked:  Open PDF, Click File, Click Print or Print icon, Click Advanced (in upper right corner) - Advance Print Setup window opens, Select Print As Image checkbox, and click OK, on the Print window, click ok again to begin printing.  Yea!  It says then if these steps resolved the issue, there is no need to continue trouble shooting.  I have not yet had the time to test this with the many other PDFs I could not get to print, but I'm hopeful.  Please let me know if this works for you.

I the service chat pointed me at this link: Error "...The Adobe Print Engine has failed..." | Print | InDesign |CS, CS2, CS3 but none of those solutions solved the issue.
    What I have tried:
    Restarting the program and computer
    Renaming the file
Going into the program setting as the link suggests
In the meantime I will use the PDF presets to make PDFs.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Won't Print PDF Files

I recently encountered a problem where my HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction would not print PDF files.  I tried printing from Preview, Adobe Reader, Word and PDF Pen Pro and the document would not print.  But the printer had no problem printing other formats such as JPG, DOCX etc. from the same computer both before and after.
What happened is that the computer indicated it sent the document to the printer and the printer screen showed "Printing Document" momentarily - but then the the printer screen would return to the Ready screen and the document would not print.  There were not indications that the printer was having a problem.
I reinstalled the HP drivers - no change.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to print PDF documents.

Check the driver name. If it shows HP Laserjet CM1415 - Airprint it would be the Apple driver.
Delete it and add the new driver in for just the HP Laserjet CM1415. You might have to click on the drop down to select it from the list.
Here is a screen shot for a example. Different printer showing though.
