Troubling Security Apps

Recently I noticed two applications in my System/Library/Core Services folder. SecurityAgent.app and SecurityFixer.app. There is also a folder named SecurityAgentPlugins which contains 6 Bundles:
FamilyControls.bundle
HomeDirMechanism.bundle
loginKC.bundle
MCXMechanism.bundle
RestartAuthorization.bundle
I have no idea what these applications do except that I don't like the names of the bundles and there is nothing indicating the applications are from Apple. If anyone can enlighten me I will appreciate it... GREATLY.
I am running a network with an Apple Extreme Base Station (n) and a Time Capsule which serves as the router. I have a wireless connection to the internet via my ISP. I live in a rural area and this is the only reasonable service I can make use of. I am running 10.5.5. Any other questions I will happily answer.

But you only list five … the missing one is "loginwindow.bundle", right?
These are all perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state. I have tried signing out/in of my account, rebooting and removing/re-installing the apps. This started shortly after going to iOS 5 but I am not certain if that is related. All updates that I try now are stuck in "waiting". I also tried removing the apps and then installing via iTunes desktop sync with no improvement. The only thing that I have not tried so far is a restore to a prior iPhone backup. I have not been able to find anything to indciate what the updates on waiting on. There is plenty of space on the iPhone (16gb available). Any suggestions on what to try next?

First thing I would recommend is to check your downloads queue to make sure there is not an interrupted download per the following Knowledge Base article:

If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
2. For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
3. Enter your account name and password if prompted.
4. Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
For Apps, you can also try tapping on the application icon to resume the download, as outline in this featured discussion:

Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

I've never heard of this software, and cannot find any reference to it online, which is a bit concerning. What is it supposed to do? There really isn't much need for security software on a Mac.

In Mac OS X 10.7, any applications left open when you shut down or restart are re-opened at startup, and any documents left open in an app when you quit are re-opened when you launch them again. The former can be controlled by unchecking the box in the restart/shutdown alert:
You will need to do this each time you shut down or restart, it won't remember that setting.
The latter can be deactivated by unchecking the box in System Preferences -> General:

That does not sound normal, but I don't use a mouse with my MBP, so I can't provide a solution, other than to try replacing the batteries in the mouse.

It seems I can't update any on 3G now, so I do it on my comp in iTunes and just sync it.

I am having trouble updating apps through iTunes, iTunes shuts down when I try to sync.

I am having trouble updating apps that I have on my iPhone through iTunes. I go through the update then when syncing I get an error message iTunes has to shut down. The only way I have been able to work around is to delete the app and download it again. If I don't do this the app says waiting on my iPhone.

I just got the same message myself. Which I have only had 2 times in three years, so I checked here.

Moved to iAS SP3 and IIOP to secure app fails

me to log in?! In SP2 it did as required by the security roles in the
deployment descriptors. In the CXS log I get the following:

More info. I think it is my deployment descriptor that is the issue.
Somehow SP2 determined what secure application an EJB belonged to and asked
my IIOP client to ask for the user/password. Now I think I need to include
the role information etc within the descriptors for the EJBs. I did this as
described in the DTDs but still nothing. Does anyone have a working secure
IIOP client running with SP3?

Installing Security Apps

Does anyone have any advice/input on installing a security app on the HTC Droid incredible? I was looking into "Lookout Mobile Security" but have been getting good and bad results.
Any input would be appreciated.

Has anyone used a mobility security program like bullguard successfully? What are are downsides?

I have used Lookout and AVG anti-virus for almost two years without problems. I haven't looked at any other Security Apps since choosing those two.

I recently got a security app from Avast it was the non cost one but with Premium it would cost $ 1.99/month or pay $14.99/year but my Question is Does paying really get ya any better protection and is there better security apps than that of Avast..

What junk are you asking if it stops? Nothing ever pops up on my screen which I do not initiate. Is this what you mean? Are you asking if it stops me from accessing a website it has determined to be junk? I am not sure what you mean by stopping "junk".
What ads do you mean, too? If an ad is a part of a website, it does not block those. I do not have popups appearing when I go to websites, though. However I don't go to a lot of websites which I am not aware of ahead of time. Once again, what ads are you asking if it stops?
While I do not subscribe to the premium version, it does have "safe browsing" included in it.

Hi everyone, I just bought the Droid Charge by Samsung and I have been researching the various security Apps but I still have questions. The security application that Verizon is prominently supporting, Good(product name), is one of the few (the only one I've found) that encrypts its data. Everyone else touts their firewalls and virus protection which is nice but they don't say anything about encryption. Does anyone know of a product out there that has encryption, a firewall and virus protection? Does anyone know how much the Good App costs? ALSO, is the Droid Charge considered a Google Android? Thanks.

It probably got too cold and shut down. Warm it to room temperature, then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

Anyone having trouble with App Store install and cloud store buttons not working after 6.1 update? I go to install an app. I hit install and nothing happens. About a minute later it asks me for my password and then it does nothing. The install button goes back to saying install. However the app shows up in my installed list and in cloud but no app installed.

OK - I found a helpful post - closed app store app and under Settings/General/Date and Time I reset the date and time by switching off "Set Automatically" and then switching it on again. Went back to App Store, launched it and Updatesseems to be working again.
Go figure? Logical, No!
