Troulbe importing .aac

I've been using Premiere Elements 4 for a while and have never been able to import
.aac file formats, despite the format beging listed as compatible.  I keep getting an error message stating: "File format not supported/One of the necessary components may not have been installed."  Well, I've installed/uninstalled the program more than once and simply cannot get it to work with .aac files--which is rough given that most of my music library is in iTunes and saved in the .aac format.  Any suggestions?  Do I need to convert the desired files to .wma or .mp3 format as I have been doing?  I'd rather not have to do this since it just wastes space on the hard drive for redundant files.  Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.  I hope this is just a bone-headed error on my part and easily worked around.

That's an excellent point, Steve, and one I haven't considered since most of my library was imported from CDs; however, the file I am currently having an issue with was bought online from iTunes.  Thing is, I made an .mp3 version of the file and all is working as expected.  I should also add that I first exported the files to a CD for playing away from the computer.  I then imported the CD onto a laptop where I have Premiere currently installed.  Importing from the CD in .aac format produced the familiar error message.  Reimporting the CD as an .mp3 collection worked just fine.  It's a real head-scratcher for me.  Is it possible that there is an install option/feature that I have failed to implement?  Or is there some subsequent setting after install that I have failed to adjust?

  • Can't Import AAC file into Premier CS4

    Hello!
As the title says, I'm not able to import AAC files into my Premier Pro projects.  The funny thing is that these files were created in Premier Pro CS4, so what gives?  I took the audio out of a video and exported ONLY the audio in AAC format.  But when I want to import these files into a project, it gives me a file not supported message.  What am I doing wrong?

It says the codec is installed, so it should work no?  I mean, like I said in the OP, I created these files in Premier Pro.  I find it odd that I can't import files I created in the same program I used to export them.
I do agree that if you Export a file from a program, it should Import into that same program. That similar once did, but do not now, indicates that something has changed. Trying to find out what that is can be a bit time-consuming and can lead to dead ends.
I would try the Export again, but use PCM/WAV, to make sure that that method, format will work.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere CC won't import AAC audio

I'm trying to loop two videos together in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1. One of the videos won't import the audio, just the video track. The audio is in AAC format, the video is a MPEG-4 movie with H.264 format. Every other video I've tried imports as usual, but for some reason the audio drops off on this one. The video plays just fine in Quicktime with the audio track. When I import it, the audio track drops off and only the video track shows up.
I didn't create the video, so I don't have access to the original working files. Anyone know any workarounds or fixes for this?
    Thanks!

Thanks for responding, but I work for a very small company and since I'm the only one who needs CC, I have the personal version installed.
Also this appears to be a blanket issue with all audio and video file formats, thus not likely a codec issue since the files I've tried so far should be covered by premiere's compatibility, the even play in windows media player with no issue.
Video itself plays fine, but any audio attached to a video, or just plain audio files will not import no matter what I try.
    Sorry my info didn't help.
    Two things to try.
Create a brand new project and test if you can import the problematic files.
If that does not work, change the name of the folder that contains your media files. Then try to import.
    Let us know what happens.

    Hey Kevin,
thanks for your reply. I fixed the problem.
I need to download these 3 programs from RED:
    RED APPLE WORKFLOW INSTALLER

  • Importing AAC Files in the new Leopard import window

While I love the new open/import menu with the sidebar that lets you add photos from iPhoto and music from iTunes etc by browsing them inside the window, for some reason it won't let me add normal (not protected) AAC files from my iTunes library. MP3 files seem to be fair game, so what's the problem?
Bizarrely, it will let me add protected AAC files, although they come up silent when I try and play the sequence.

An MP3 on the timeline behaves in the most unpredictable way.
I tested it and I had to convert it into AIFF to work on the track.
The problem was not so much the rendering issue.
    One example:
I had to change the speed to a track. The caption on the audio track on the timeline would indicate the modified speed percentage but the actual speed
would always remain the same (100%). Tried several times with slight adjustments
    but nothing changed.
I do think that MP3 is not a real option (It definitely isn't for me).

  • Help importing .aac files

I am trying to import about 40 ringtone files (from Nokia N97 zip file I found) but iTunes isn't playing nice.
The files are in .aac format (they play in quicktime and realplayer) but when I try to select file>add-to-library in iTunes I get nothing. No error message, no nothing. Just a quick almost in-perceivable blip and that's it.
I'm no audio pro keep in mind. Any thoughts? Are these encrypted files and if so, how do I convert and import.
I want COOOOOOL (not that the Nokia ones are the best in the world either) ringtones on my new iPhone not these crap ones.
    Any help is much appreciated!!

You're not converting the file properly. You should read the MPEG Streamclip documentation.
The files imported into FCE that need to be rendered are probably not in a format that's supported by FCE. Get item properties for the clips and see what the specifications are. They have to match the sequence properties in every respect.

  • Why won't my itunes import aac files i've downloaded nor will it even play them

For years i download off a website audiobooks and magazines in aac format from a website.  I name and save the file and then when it downloads i open it and it automatically would open in itunes and then remain in itunes.  I could then sync it to my ipod, iphone.  Simple, easy.  All of a sudden after downloading the last recent itunes software update.  10.3 i think.  everything stopped working.  i download a new files and i can't open them in itunes.  i cant drag it, i cant directly import the file. i cant even open the file using right click open with.  itunes.  I can open the file in windows media player so i know the file is good. I figured something might have been up with that version of itunes so i wanted for a new update, hoping that it would fix it itself.  Didn't work.  So i have the most current version of itunes.  All the files i want in itunes are saved and neatly organized.  i wonder if it's possible to just scrap everything and drag everything into a fresh downloaded version of itunes.

  • Importing AAC/AVI Files

I'm having a bit of a problem. I have a couple of anime episodes in .avi format that I'd like to add to my iPod for a long trip. I tried to add the files to my itunes library but I later learned that it's not supported over on my 5th generation ipod.
How do I go about this problem? I've considered downloading an AVI converter.
I also have a couple of AAC music files and I'm not sure how to import them into my itunes. Any help?
    Thanks.

That's probably the best way to go.

I am guessing that the actual file extension is .aac. Can you confirm this? Then we can move on to Step 2

  • Irregular Bit Rates for Converted/Imported AAC files (iTunes 7.5)?

I have noticed that my recent additions to my iTunes library have irregular bit rates inconsistent with the usual 128 kbps. They range from 121-131 kbps and appear to be randomly generated. This has happened with MP3s and WMAs that I have converted into AACs and CD tracks that I have imported as AACs. My first additions with these problems were on the 19th of November. Before this time I updated my library to iTunes 7.5. None of my previous 2000+ music files (all AAC) which I have been adding successfully for the last 3 years have had this problem and they are almost all (except for a couple at 64 kbps) at 128 kbps. My suspicion is that the new iTunes 7.5 may be the cause of this irregularity.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I found a past thread related to this issue. No Need to reply

  • Re-imported AAC files have lost all their volume settings

    Hi
I've recently had to re-import some tracks into my library and I noticed that iTunes has reset the AAC files volume slider back to 'None.' MP3 files have retained their original settings, which was slightly to the right to make the tracks louder. Never had this problem prior to 9.0.2.25.
Any ideas why its doing this?
    Cheers

  • What do I do if imported AAC files wont copy onto my iPhone? It has worked in the past with other imported files of the same type.

I have tried multiple times to sync a bunch of RHCP songs that i imported, but they wont copy onto my iPhone. I have tried isolating them in a playlist and syncing just that playlist and still nothing. please help. I have done this with other songs before and it worked fine but for some reason these ones wont copy.

I suggest taking it back to Best Buy. Once it has been opened, Apple will not handle the phone. Best Buy or another 3rd party are your only choices. Best Buy probably made an error when replacing the screen. Understand they are not an authorized Apple Service Center.

  • Cannot import .aac file to itunes..

    Hi ,
There the problem. I got 2 songs with .aac extension cannot play and add to library . I'm using the latest itunes 10.6.3.25 and window 7.
Can anyone show me how to check whether a song is DRM-free or not.

    Are you adding them by:
    Opening iTunes
    Going to the File menu
Moving down to Add to Library.
Navigating to the songs and selecting them?

  • Create AAC Version?

In iTunes 8 on my iMac, I noticed that items I recorded myself had the contextual menu option "Create AAC Version." In the older version of iTunes on my eMac, the menu option was "Convert Selection to MP3." I actually prefer the AAC version because of its smaller file size, so I lugged my eMac into the other room, connected it to the Internet, and updated iTunes to version 8. But when I looked in iTunes on my eMac, it STILL only gave the option to convert to MP3! Why the difference between the two Macs? Is it because of the different processors?

No. The create XXX version is controlled by the import settings you set in iTunes -> Preferences -> General -> Import Settings button. Whatever option you set in import settings is also reflected in the Create XXX version menu item. If you select to import AAC, your menu would read Create AAC version. If you select to import MP3, it would read Create MP3 Version.

  • All files in an album won't import

I recently re-tagged a couple of my albums (Namely my copy of the Final Fantasy X soundtrack) that I had purchased prior to having an iPod. Now, iTunes won't import all the files (They are on the main hard disc, in a folder on my desktop). And with the ones it does, It completely ignores the tagged track numbers (in stead of 1, 2, 3, ... etc.; I get 1,5, 2, 3, 4, 10, 15). All the files in question are in MP3 format. This is incredibly annoying. Is there a solution to this?
    Itunes Version: 11.0.2.26
OS: Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1

If the skipping songs are purchased iTMS music, then make sure that you have the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod firmware installed. Then authorize the songs by playing one of them for a few seconds.
If the songs are all imported AAC or MP3 files, then it may be an iPod memory management issue.
Restore Your iPod and reload the music back onto the iPod, from your iTunes.
If the Restore & Reload does not work, see: “Strange iPod Behavior within Windows”

  • AAC files from streaming audio????

Hi, my friend burned me a cd off an internet radio site, the songs were saved as .aac yet itunes won't let me import them nor will they play by clicking the file.
Could it be that these songs were copy protected in some way or is there a setting that will allow me to import aac files?
    thanks

These must be raw AAC streams. In other words, they aren't in a recognized MPEG-4 container. You would be able to fix this easily on a PC using foobar2000, but on a Mac you'll have more difficulty. I would suggest reading up on the subject using some Internet searches and looking for possible command line utilities at sites like rarewares.
