True 7.1 audio cable setup for audigy 2

just got the ZS and the Creative Inspire P7800 7. speaker set, and it comes with a 4 to 3 cable connector - 3 cables to the sound card and 4 to the sub. I read that I'm missing a connection to the sound card for a true 7. audio setup, but not sure if my card accepts 4 connections. People said they could just buy an extra audio cable for non-creative sound cards with the extra port for that 4th cable, but how bout for the ZA?

Everything's working fine and I've followed the manuals - I just want to know how to plug in that 4th connector to the sound card to get that "true 7. configuration" I've read about. Some people would unplug the gray wire from the sub, get a new audio cable, and connect the sub and a (non-creative) soundcard that has the additional output (a line 4 out I believe, while the audigy has 3).

Audio cable help for the new AppleTV.
Currently I have an original AppleTV with audio RCA plugs to mini plug into my BOSE speakers.
The 2nd Gen AppleTv has a Toslink input. I've looked at cables of Toslink to optical mini. Will this cable work? The optical mini part I'm not sure of what it is.
Thanks so much. The monitor I use doesn't have speakers.
This is the cable I see at Amazon

If I understand your question correctly, you want to connect your Apple TV2 to your Bose system using a mini plug.
You will need an optical to digital coax RCA converter (find it on Ebay about $15), then you can connect your mini cable. Here is a link to one I recently bought on Ebay: http://fwd4.me/nrQ

  • Audio Cable Requirements for New Apple TV

I'm about to order a new Apple TV. The specs are a little unclear on the audio side, as it says it has an optical audio output. However, does the HDMI port do audio out as well, or do I NEED an optical audio cable in addition to HDMI when my TV supports HDMI? Thanks for the help.

HDMI will carry audio. No need for a separate optical cable unless you want to run it to another device such as a receiver/amp.

  • I can't check mute or thru in audio midi setup!

    Hi all!
I'm new so thanks for checking out my post. My issue is in regards to a problem with my audio preferences. I can't check "mute" or "thru" on my audio preferences (in audio/midi setup) for the line in and internal mic. I think they are leading to problems in logic with audio being recorded as bleed.
Core Audio will not allow line in to be turned down past -4.00 db. This leading to all kinds of problems. Thanks for any thought!

Many audio audio input devices do not support Mute or Thru. Any recording applications should have ways of selecting the audio inputs to use, other than just reducing the levels of unwanted inputs.

  • Disable Driver Enforcement for Virtual Audio Cable?

Hi, I'm trying to get this thing called "Virtual Audio Cable" Working, but It is apparently not signed, so I cant even use it. Is there a fix to this? I've tried to use bcdedit -set. I have tried to use DSEO Too, but I dont know what file it wants
me to sign, so I'm confused. So if anyone has any idea what to do with this, it will be very helpful.
(PS, Not really the best with computers. But if you guide me through what you want me to do. It'll be easy.)

    Hi,
Do you mean that you're unable to install the unsigned driver for Virtual Audio Cable? If so, you can choose “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” during boot, this allows unsigned drivers to load for this boot only.
You can refer to workarounds mentioned in blog below
    How to install unsigned drivers
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/matthew_van_eerde/archive/2014/04/05/10211068.aspx
And there's a security policy to configure the Unsigned driver installation behavior in previous Windows versions, but removed since Vista
    Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Devices: Unsigned driver installation behavior
while you can refer to this KB to re-add this policy option, this KB is for Windows Vista, but I have tested in my Windows 7 enterprise, it also works.

  • Virtual-Audio-Cable for Arch linux

    Hello guys,
I'm quiet new to Arch-Linux and I love Arch-Linux (even if I sometimes hate it ).
I wont to have and virtual audio-device where I can put some Out-Put of any program (for examble VLC) to an input device like a Microphone used by any application for example Teamspeak.
In Windows I have the program Virtual-Audio-Cable for this and I already read that pulse-audio should serve this functionality, but when I install pulse-audio I don't get this sound-redirecting to work and I get Bugs like my music is stopping when I start Teamspeak or any application with sound output.
So I wan't to have it (if possible) without using pulseaudio (I already removed it from my system).
    I'm thankful for any hints.
    Sincerely Basti

pulseaudio comes with the module module-virtual-source. You can load it with pacmd and then use it like a virtual audio cable in pavucontrol.
    pacmd load-module module-virtual-source source_name=loop_source uplink_sink=loop_sink
Then send sound to loop_sink and record from loop_source.
Edit: If you want to listen and record at the same time, then you should be able to use module-virtual-sink I think and record from the monitor channel for the virtual sink.
    http://pulseaudio-discuss.freedesktop.n … ce-modules
With pure alsa it should be possible with the aloop driver.
Otherwise you'll have to learn JACK.

  • Optical audio cable for iMac?

I need to find an optical audio cable for my 20" intel iMac.
I have not been able to determine what kind of cable that it is that I need to be able to hook up my iMac to my logitech z-5500's. I know that the z-5500's have an optical input on them, but it is a standard size optical input.
Does anyone know what exactly it is that I am looking for?
    Any help is appreciated.

I wish Apple would sell a nice white Toslink ->Mini-tos adapter, as all of their products seem to be using the connector. (Or better yet, include it with the computers.)
The cable mentioned above will work fine and is not viciously overpriced like the Monster stuff. Another good quality solution, especially if you already have a regular optical cable, is this adaptor: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=180-968
I use two of those (both with Dayton Audio optical cables from the same seller, though any optical cable will do as there's no real difference between any of them) with my iMac and AirPort Express, and have not had any problems.

  • Which is better for AUDIO: HDMI or the Digital Optical Fiber Optic Toslink Audio Cable?

Is there a difference in Audio performance between your standard HDMI hook up (for my Blue Ray Player) or adding the Digital Optical Fiber Optic Toslink Audio Cable. Which will sound better????
    Please help...
    Thank you for your time!!!

Well that is huge debate here. My opinion is HDMI cables are WAY over priced for what they are. Do not be lead to believe you have to have a 100 dollar hdmi cable, I think 50 is crazy high myself. My only concern is getting one so cheap that it might have poor connections or not last. Also if you run it in a wall it has to be rated for that.
I have a Rocketfish cable and it works fine. My guess would be the dynex cables are fine too. And if your not buying it from Best Buy there are other options as well.
Something else to keep in mind as well. If you only have one HDMI device and you hook it up to your reciever using HDMI you will need two cables for one device. The one that runs to the Reciever and then the one from the reciever to the tv. If you use an Optical cable you only need the one HDMI cable. Run the HDMI cable from the blu ray to the tv, and the optical line from the player to the reciever. This will give you 5.1 dolby or dts through the reciever and also sound through the tv since HDMI carries sound as well as video.
But if money (for cables) was not an issue the HDMI cable supposedly can offer the best sound quality of the two.

  • Settings for Audio MIDI Setup

I have a G4 laptop that I use with a VX pocket at home, and with inbuilt audio at work. I configure audio midi the way I want for each location. Can this be automated? How do I go about getting automator into to list of actions with workflows?

Audio MIDI Setup has no Automator actions written for it (that I'm aware of) and is unlikely to get them soon as it lacks an AppleScript API. An automated solution is going to be reduced to mimicking user input (pushing buttons and sliding controls) with System Events. For an explanation and example see this recent thread.
I can help you work out the specific syntax for the script, but first I'll need to see the two configurations you're switching between. Open Audi MIDI Setup, hit Command-Shift-4 on your keyboard, then hit the space bar, then click the shaded setup window with the camera-icon cursor. Locate "Picture 1" on your desktop and rename it "MIDI Setup 1." Reconfigure your settings and repeat these steps, renaming the file "MIDI Setup 2." If you have a hosted website or storage space where you can upload the files, go ahead and link to them in your reply. If not, you may e-mail them to me and I'll post them.

This configuration is weird little bit. There is MatchExpression /app1 and MatchExpression /app2 and at the same time two <Location /weblogic> sections. Are you sure you understand what that configuration stands for?
    Try something like this ...
    <Location /app1>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster 127.0.0.1:7003,127.0.0.1:7005,127.0.0.1:7007,127.0.0.1:7103,127.0.0.1:7104

Does anybody know the pinout for the 44 pin D-Sub found on the back of the Audigy platinum Ex dri've?
I'm trying to build a cable to connect the dri've directly to my card, as I don't seem to be able to buy the daughter card (SB00b) anywhere.
(If anyone does know where I can get a daughter card that would be really useful as well)
Only that can be found is pinout table for AUD_EXT, but it's not 44 pin but 40 pin connector. You can find it from Creative Support/KnowledgeBase by searching AUD_EXT.

  • Obtaining 7.1 Channel Audio Cable for X-Fi Plati

Can anyone tell me where I can get the 7. audio cable so that my Gigaworks S750 can work with my X-fi Platinum fully? For now, my 2 side channels aren't working.

    lytrix,
Can you describe the cable that you do have? The Gigaworks S750's come with a cable that has 3 connections on one end (green, black, orange) and four on the subwoofer end (green, black, orange, and grey). If you do not have this cable, Customer Service can get you one. -800-998-000

  • Audio Midi Setup has no choice for 88.2 kHz

I downloaded a 24 bit 88.2 kHz music file in Apple Lossless format from Linn records, but I can only see 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz in Audio Midi Setup.
I use the optical digital out connected to Benchmark DAC1 USB. The manual states all sample rates between 28 and 96 kHz are supported for the optical input. Why isn't 88.2 kHz a possible choice in Audio Midi Setup? Is it possible to fix? Thanks! Joachim
    PS
I noticed now the 88200 option is there when connecting via USB. But I prefer using the optical if possible.
