True back up or some version of?
I have everything backed up on Time Machine, right? So if I make a mistake I can go back to a time before the mistake and restore to that time, right? I have several entries for Photoshop CS2 and didn't know which to delete so as to free up some HD space so I tried one, the wrong one. No sweat, or so I thought. I restored from before my goof and it came back sans updates and when I try to redo them Adobe sends me a message that it doesn't recognise my server and that Photoshop is 'undefined'. Can someone explain any of this?
What I have learned from this exercise is that Time Machine is not all its cracked up to be. If you delete something accidentally you may or may not be able to restore it. You can run Photoshop CS2 on leopard but what Time Machine backs up is not a working copy and if you attempt to restore from there you will spend another day working with leopard and your patience. I am not a fan.

It takes awhile for anything/everything to load after I click on it when I'm online. It will freeze up about every 3 to 5 minutes for approx. 5 to 10 seconds at random. How do I go back to an earlier version of I-tunes?
My I-tunes hasn't worked since August and apparently its my fault, despite everything working fine until the update in August. No solution offered on these boards has worked at all.

I have seen Firefox 4.0 on another computer and don't like what you have done to it so when it asked if I wanted 4.0 I always said NO. This time when I booted up and opened firefox it said updates were being installed and when it finished it was 4.0.
I want to go back to my previous version. How do I do that?Check that your automatic updates setting has not changed. I recommend "Ask me what I want to do".

Tools > Options > Advanced > Update mini-tab
What don't you like about Firefox 4? Maybe it's easy to change?
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself! -
My iPod Classic (160G) used to sync flawlessly with iTunes (93G).
Recently, there seem to be fewer folders syncing. In particular, it is not syncing more recent adds. It also occassionally refuses to sync at least one mp3 downloaded from Amazon.com, giving an unable to sync message with an error code or 50.
I'm running iTunes version 10.7, and the software (2.04) on myiPod is current.
I only use the iPod for music. I have only one playlist.
Reset and restore did not fix the problem; I'm considering rolling back to a previous version of iTunes. Are there any other ideas to consider?

iTunes and its sync process with your iPod have been know to choke once the amount of data that needs to be transferred, replaced, or updated, reaches a certain size limit in GBs.

I am unhappy with the recent upgrade to Thunderbird 31.3.0 and now 31.4.0. My bottom line question is whether I can roll back to the previous version, which was working well for me.
The problems I have encountered include:
1. I used to be able to enter a single letter in many cases in the address field, and the autocomplete would fill in the entry that I always use with that single letter. That function has been lost, as has auto fill-in based on the nicknames I have entered in my Address Book. I see there is another thread on this problem (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1036962), but no satisfactory answer so far. Entering a single letter now pulls up completely unrelated address entries that may not even have that letter as part of the name, address or nickname for that unrelated address. I have created new nicknames to try to adapt to this problem, but even these new nicknames no longer work with the 31.4.0 upgrade yesterday, forcing me to create yet more complex and hard-to-remember nicknames to pull up my frequent addressees. This is all very frustrating to me, as I depend on speed and ease when creating messages.
2. Also, I used to be able to enter a single letter in the address field and then use the mouse to click on the "To:" symbol to the left of the next address line to change the next entry to "Cc:"; doing so would then cause the complete address to fill in in the "To:" address field, and make the next field ready for an entry. That no longer works. If I use that technique, the shortcut that I entered in the first field gets included along with the address (if I'm lucky enough to have the address itself selected now, given the problems I've mentioned above). I now have to press "Enter" in order to get the address in the first field to "take" correctly, and then have to click on the "To:" symbol for the next line as a separate action. Just another inconvenience with the new version.
3. While still on the subject of addresses, personally I see no reason why the address and subject fields should now be colored blue by default rather than appearing as blank, white fields. I far prefer the old look. And I suspect that changing from the blue color to a nice, clean, white field takes time and computer resources that slow things down.
4. The default font (Times in my case) no longer "takes" when replying to or forwarding messages. I've checked Tools/Options/Composition, and Times is still shown as my default font. However, when I start to type (in a reply with the original message quoted or in a forwarded message), the result is "Variable Width". In order to get Times, I need to highlight the block of text after typing, including the lead-in to the quoted message or the header of the forwarded message, and select "Times" when "(mixed)" shows up. This is a big pain; I often forget to do so and end up having to edit the Unsent Message (which I check before sending) as New and correct the font.
5. A minor problem: I rely on the reminder to attach a message which shows up when an "attachment-related" word is entered in the body of the message. It has been a wonderful feature of Thunderbird that has prevented me on many occasions from sending off messages without the attachments. However, in the new versions, even if I have indeed added the attachment, a pop-up comes up on sending the message saying there has been no attachment and asking if I want to add one. It's easy enough to just click "No", but it's yet one more unnecessary and distracting step that this new version is requiring of the user.
I'm really sad to see these various changes/glitches. I love Thunderbird and it bothers me deeply to find myself mired in so many new problems that slow down my work. I would be grateful for any suggestions and advice, and, particularly, for any information as whether I can roll back to the version prior to 31.3.0 that was working well for me.Thank you, Zenos. So I followed your valuable suggestion to revert to v24.6; that seems to have done the trick.
I would like to mark this problem as "Solved" -- the rollback seems to have worked. my iphone 3gs which is not associated with this accunt is not activating after updating the sof tware, it connects to i tunes but i tunes says "we arh your unable to continue with your activation at this time, please try again later or contact customer care". my iphone aslo just says it cannot be activated or something like that every time i try. i have been waiting for 4 hours now but it still hasnt worked. how can i uninstal this update and go back to my old version which ws ios 4.1 or or ios 4,3. i dont even know what version it updated to, im assuming it is ios5 but not sure. it says try connecting to i tunes as well but it is connected and i tunes cant activate it either. my phone is connect to a wifi but it stll says no service.

Every time I try to download anything firefox stops responding and will not do anything until I restart it. Can I revert back to a previous version, or is there a fix for it? When I restart firefox, then the download continues and all is well until I try to download something new (which I do quite often).

Ever since I upgraded my Firefox to 4.01.1, everthing loads much, much slower.......I can go make a coffee while the page loads. Sometimes, it is soooooooooo slow, that it times out and I have to start all over again. Even when I sign on and load google, sometimes it takes forever.
I also do not like the toolbar at the top. It's grey and hard to read, what is wrong with white?
Can I revert back to the earlier version of Firefox? It worked much better. I use ancestry.com a lot and they even recommend a 3.??? version of Firefox.

There have been some changes to the UI recently. Everything is still there, just in a slightly different location. Try going to ''Firefox > Options > Options''.
If you want a more familiar feel, go to ''Firefox > Options > Menu Bar''. That will bring back the menu items that you are probably used to.

One simple way would be to completely uninstall your keyboard drivers, updated that they are, and reinstall from scratch, then deny the unwanted updates the right to install.
Another way is to get details about the culprit by using Terminal and typing the following commands:
grep swupd /etc/swupd/com.apple.server.swupdate.plist > ~/Desktop/update_list.txt
(This will get you a list of software updates you've installed on you Mac, in text format, directly on your Desktop)
Then:
sudo rm -rf /usr/share/swupd/html/xxx-xxxx/
(Where "xxx-xxxx" stands for the actual update number you want to delete)
You'll have to reboot your Mac, and hope that the rollback that will ensue will take place without a glitch. You may find your keyboard unresponsive at first, time for the system to fetch the old driver back from it was stored. -
Can I go back to the old version of Firefox?
I am trying to pin-point the cause of problems I am having with my basic one-page website. It does not allow me to upload images. The hosting agent says I have a virus. I did the scan and cleaned up the desktop but the problem remains. I am suspicious of the Firefox update because of the warning it gave during its installation that some "plug-ins" would not function or be available until a later time (or something to that effect). What was that all about and could it affect my website? Can I go back to the old version of Firefox? Maybe I could test if this is a part of the problem.

Since upgrading to 8.0 I can no longer print from Mapquest Classic. It's not a Mapquest problem it's a Firefox problem as I am able to print using IE. I haven't encountered any other sites problems yet but I'm sure it's to come if I don't get this fixed. I need to be able to print. How can I fix this?

I have deleted the podcast app from my phone but on my Mac in iTunes->iPhone->Apps it shows up albeit with a button labelled "Install". I've resynced 3 times and when I try to access my Podcast playlist in the Music app, I still get a message telling me that podcasts have moved to the Podcast app. I'm really sick of some of the changes Apple has made to their software.

How to go back to a previous version of NI Motion
Has anyone tried going back to an older version of NI Motion? Specifically I loaded labview 8.5 and NI Motion 7.6 on to my computer after having run Labview 6.1 and NI Motion 5.1.1 successfully for seven year. The newer version is not compatible with my system and will not run. I've loaded the old system on a completely different hard drive and tried to get the system back the way it was. My motor appears to be out of tune and will not run. I note that both the new .xml file and the firmware files are bigger in the 7.6 version. I've tried padding the 5.1.1 firmware files with NULL characters but that didn't help. I suspect that some part of the new .xml file is being left on the board when I write the old one back. Anyone know a work around?

verify the position of an axis when the motion ends. The motion controller then
commands the axis to do a final move so that it is at the specified target
position."
If the number of pull-in moves is set extremely high I can see this causing what you are seeing.
Can you give me more information on your setup and when you see this oscillation. I'm assuming it is only when you tell the motor to find home.
