True Blood: Season 1 Blu-Ray

Good evening.  I bought True Blood: Season 1 back in May in a Best Buy store.  For one reason or another, I just got around to opening it today.  Upon opening it, I realized the housing area for disc 5 was busted.  The disc will not secure itself into place.  One of the "clips" is broken preventing it.  Now, upon putting disc 5 into my blu-ray player, it would not play.  I took the disc out and, of course, there is a crack on the playbale side of the disc.  Because it was purchased in May, I have been told I can do nothing about it.  Makes sense.  I understand it's my fault for keeping it packaged up until I was ready to watch it.  But the set is now incomplete without the final 2 episodes that are on disc 5.  Do I have any options other than re-purchasing the entire season?  The first 4 discs are perfectly fine.  Is there any way of simply ordering the packaging and/or just the 5th disc?  This is frustrating, especially considering this is how I received the product.  I bought it and put it in my shelf, that's it.  It's been sitting there since I brought it home.  Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello CoryMCasper,
I really liked True Blood. I thought that the show was fresh and inventive, so I certainly understand your desire to see the first season's final episodes. I've had the exact same thing happen, where I had a defective disc in a TV series and I was outside the return period. It's aggravating and I regret that you're having the same experience now.
When this happened to me, my only recourse was to write to the distributor for options. At the time -- this was some years ago now -- I received a polite and informative letter with instructions on how to return the defective disc and receive a new one. While the company to which I wrote was not the same as that for True Blood, I would expect that they also have a contingency for defective discs (though I cannot guarantee it). I realize that this in inconvenient at the very least, but I recommend contacting HBO for further assistance.
I hope this helps and I'm sorry that I don't have an easier option for you. Please know that I'm grateful that you wrote to us with your concern.
Sincerely,

The patch-sets for products are available through metalink.oracle.com for customers with support and maintenance.
I am checking now, but I believe 9.0.4.8 was included in the 10.1.2.0.2 release of OracleAS. This means that it should also be the version downloadable from OTN.

  • Received an empty package which was supposed to be Games of Thrones Season 4 Blu-Ray

I got an empty cardboard envelope which only had the receipt for Games of Thrones Season 4 Blu-Ray. It must've gotten loose out of the packaging during shipment because it was partially open. Can someone please replace it since I got charged for it? I would really appreciate it.

  • Where is True Blood Season 2 On Demand?

We had Season 1 and read that Season 2 would be available 1/11/10. Season 1 is now gone, but no True Blood can be found On Demand. We called Verizon 1/11/10 and the guy said he didn't know what was going on that he didn't have it there either...so we waited a few days and still nothing. Will Season 2 be On Demand? Thanks!

Check out this thread. I think it explains the issue.

Sorry, we're all just your fellow users here and have no idea when, or indeed if, the new season will appear on the iTunes Store. We can hope that it will happen soon, but that's completely up to the content owners.

  • Error in weekly ad - Stargate SG-1 Blu-ray

Well I just wasted an hour, half of that time on my own and half with employees in a Best Buy store trying to find Stargate SG-1 seasons on Blu-ray, they were in the weekly ad. They were very helpful and apologetic but, I still felt like an idiot looking for something that didn't exist.

There is a known bug in the H.264-Bluray export. I assume it has nothing to do with your issue, but perhaps it will give you something to consider.

It appears due to a malformed xmpses file. It creates a problem on import into Encore, and I think it should do the same upon import into Architect or it would be ignored entirely. The test is to delete the xmpses file and see if that avoids the issue.

Those are all the episodes for that season, if you want to view another season you need to select it

  • H.264 Blu Ray will play in most players, H.264 will not. Is this true?

I was told that the H.264 is a universal format, but to make it play to Blu-Ray standards for players you must use H.264 Blu-ray.  If not, it may not play in all Blu- Ray type players . The same goes for MPEG-2 Vs. MPEG-2 DVD.
    Is this true?

to phrase the answer another way...
h.264 for Bluray is a subset of the full h.264 standard.
Why? Because it has constrictions on it so that the bluray player's silicon-chip h.264 decoder doesn't have to be overly complicated (thus cheaper)..
So, while a non bluray h.264 stream MAY play on a bluray player, it isn't EXPECTED too.
As an example - if you compare the h.264 to the h.264 bluray columns you'll see that h.264 has "Levels" 3.0...5.2 but BR only has a subset of those. Likewise for the "Profile" and Screen Resolutions @ specific FrameRates.
Note that both are h.264/AVC encodings, it's just that the BD version is allows far less combinations of settings.

  • TRUE BLU-RAY AUDIO - X58 Pro-E very important question !

    I have a problem.
I want to buy a motherboard with X58 Pro-E and build HTPC HD Audio.
What does this mean "TRUE BLU-RAY AUDIO" ?
There is no HDMI output, only S/PDIF !!!!!
    - There is no HD audio bitstream (DTS-HD MA/TrueHD) - no HDMI !!!
    - Does not decode HD Audio -> LPCM 7.1 - no HDMI !!!
    - That decodes the HD Audio (7.1) to analog?
    - If only decodes HD from Blu-Ray Stereo (via. SPDIF)?
What does this mean "TRUE BLU-RAY AUDIO" on MSI motherboard ?
    Regards.
    HerrMan

      >> TRUE BLU-RAY AUDIO <<
    • The loss-less content protection technology with full-rate audio enjoyment from Blue-ray Disc
    • Support for 24-bit / 192kHz sample rate offers high quality digital decoders and speakers
    • support 7.1 channels playback, plus 2 channels of independent stereo sound output (multiple streaming) through the front panel stereo outputs
There is no HDMI because there is no onboard video. The video card you get would need to have HDMI output.
LPCM: Linear Pulse Code Modulation. It is an algorithm used to convert analog audio to digital. It gives pure loss less representation of the original analog audio in digital.
7.1 is the latest in speaker configuration. Mono is one speaker, stereo is two, 5.1 has 5. The problem with 5.1 is it produces angled audio. To get the best out put you have to sit in the center and all speakers have to be placed the right way. 7.1 solves those problems, even if the speakers are not perfectly aligned you still get very good results.
S/PDIF-out JSP1 on MB connects to video card for HDMI sound.

  • Burning Blu-Ray without toast , i found this ... true or false infos.

It is now possible to burn DVD Blu-Ray data DVD under Mac OS X 10.5.1 with Disk Utility , see the link below and go to the bottom of the page :

This is news for me as i was waiting for so long for a native burning solution , the first step before the iDVD and DVD Studio Pro received the much needed updates .....
I do video editing so having at least an archiving solution who work native under Mac OS X 10.5 is becoming vital so please post your feedbacks about this.

  • How do I fit a season of basketball games on a single blu-ray?

I am not that concerned with quality.  I have roughly 15 game videos that are about 1GB each in MP4 container (H264+AAC) 1280x720p30.  I had hoped to create a single disc that could be watched on a blu-ray player.
I don't see ability to modify video settings, bit-rate, etc in Premiere Elements 13.  Can this be done?  How about in Premiere Pro or other software?
    Thanks!

    Hi ATR,
So I am frustrated, but I want to see this through.
The resources comment made me think, so I have now doubled my RAM to 16GB and have seen where my system has briefly used as much as 12GB when opening my project.
I also uninstalled the software from my 256GB SSD, that had about 100GB free on it and reinstalled on a 1.5TB Hard Disk, just in case 100GB free wasn't enough or in case something was corrupted.  My project and all my files are on another 1.5TB Hard Disk in which there are over 350GB free.  I also created a new project and replaced all of my lower quality game videos with the original game video in case there was some kind of issue with the project or the source videos.
I reattempted to burn to 25GB BD-R and failed again at 98%, with same warning of not enough free space on disc.  I can see and play all of the video files that Elements just created from the hard drive and they work fine, and look very good, so I know the rendering completed.  They are just too large collectively to fit on the Blu-ray disc, in spite of using the Fit checkbox (see example in post 6 above).  I am convinced that Adobe Premiere Elements has a flawed estimation of free space on the BD-R and once the rendering is complete, that it will not fit on the disc.
I placed an order for 50GB BD-R DL discs today and will try again when they arrive.
This is a rather painful process as it takes ~8 hours to render the 12 hours of video each time I try something different.
    My System:
    Intel Core I7-2600K (8Core) 3.7GHz
    Gigabyte Motherboard
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX970 Windforce Graphics Card
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3 (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance CAS9
Samsung 256GB 850PRO SSD with Windows 8.1 PRO
2x3TB Toshiba 7200RPM SATA Hard Drives, Each divided into two partitions.
LG 46" UHD 3840x2160x60 4:4:4 Display via HDMI 2.0 (Note that Adobe Premiere Elements handles scaling the interface to this resolution better than competitors)
I also have a MacBook Pro with a Core 2 Duo, that would take a lot longer, but I am tempted to install on that machine and give it a try to see if the MAC version works.  Note that I have my LG Blu-Ray burner in an external enclosure so I could attempt this.
    Thanks!

  • Blu-ray creation on Mac? Surely so....

I'll try to ask this in a very straight forward way - I'm not looking for any step by step instructions, just general advice, and links to any other appropriate and knowledgeable sites or articles will be greatly appreciated.
I'm using a recent, fast 27 in iMac (March 2010), core i7 processor with 8 gigs of ram, OSX 10.6.5. Currently having great success with CS4 versions of PPro and Encore, having good luck burning SD DVDs. Am shooting 720p footage with a Canon T2i, and have been able to produce nice looking down-sampled DVDs (thanks to reading other forum discussions on here on the topic, with a great link to an excellent tutorial specific to CS4 PPro.)
I just bought the CS5 upgrade to everything, but honestly am a little hesitant to install it just yet. I've been offered a "dirt simple" (I know - famous last words) video job for a client and think I should probably stay with a workflow that I know works. They only want a <10 min DVD that will continuously loop on a small LCD-TV at the back of a trade show booth - so my widescreen DVD process, down from 720p HD, works fine, even better than I expected.
But it makes me want to try to produce true Blu-rays disks, especially since I'm so impressed with what Canon DSLRs can shoot, and PPro handles the format so easily -  I understand it does an even better job in CS5.
So here finally is my question(s) - I'm looking for an external Blu-ray burner that will connect to this iMac via Firewire, and can be written to by the Mac version of Encore, CS5. Surely this is all possible - right??  I've seen lots of internal units intended mainly for windows, and I think one possibly discontinued internal for Mac Pros.
So - is there such a beast - an external Firewire burner for Mac?  And - will Encore CS5 for Mac be able to produce a simple Blu-ray disk (a simple menu with buttons, no extra features or 3d or anything extravagant)?  And is Toast a better or lesser option?  I do fully realize that OSX cannot play a Blu-ray disk, so I know I'll need a true Blu-ray player hooked up to an HDTV.
    THANKS for any advice!

Any external Blu-ray burner should work on Mac. Talk to these people:
    http://www.macsales.com/
I bought two external and two internal drives from them for my company's Macs. No drivers included or needed.
    Regards,
    Larry

  • Has anyone burned 1080p blu-ray discs using Final Cut Pro alone?

I am in the market for a new computer. Currently I am a PC user who has burned Blu-Ray discs using Pinnacle. I am dissatisfied with that software because it hangs and crashes at critical moments in the rendering and burn process. I am considering switching to Mac but will only do so if I can burn true Blu-Ray movies which are playable in an ordinary Blu-Ray player.
I have read some of the discussions on this board and it is not clear to me whether it is yet possible to burn 1080p Blu-Ray discs playable on any Blu-Ray player using Final Cut Pro alone. Can someone confirm for me whether they have done this? Some users have indicated they can only output 720p using Final Cut Pro (which is not very satisfying). Others have indicated it is necessary to use Adobe Encore. If you have to use Adobe Encore to burn, why use Final Cut Pro at all? Why not use Adobe Premier Pro for editing and Encore for burning?

    David S. wrote:
And yes you can author single track 1080p blu ray discs with Compressor 3.5.
But that's not what the OP asked, "using FCP alone."
Why not use Adobe Premier Pro for editing and Encore for burning?
Well, why not just put CS4 on your PC, especially considering you already have the BD hardware?
There is no truth to the rumor that applications running on Macintosh are any more stable than the same apps a PC; all systems crash.
