Have anyone ever heard if you report your mac stolen to Apple they'll have your computer shut down so when the culprit settles into it's den to check out it's score it finds itself wondering how much he'll be able to get for the pretty silver paper weight he had once thought to be one of them taplops. This sounds much like a pipe dream and not to realistic- but only because it would be to good to be true, not because it isn't feasable. Am I reaching? If it hasn't already applied as a security feature then you wanna buy the idea from me? Um.. just kidding. Kidding and ha ha's are a must for me right now. Laughter really is the best medicine and it keeps thoughts of violence at bay! Ha! Ha! Grrrrrrr! I hope someone reports there is truth to the big OFF switch in the sky. Wouldn't that be swell? Then depending on how long before you report it: Immediate reporting would at least give a small satisfaction that they most likely failed their goal of making any $ and if you give it a few hours or so and add a dash of imagination, you could daydream about the giant guy he sold it to repo-ing his $ back in a most aggresive/painful manner cuz he was looking to purchase a computer, not a 15" paper-weight! (a bit to long on the wind, eh?) Thanks for submiting info. guys!

Definitively false. Confessed, I would be very concerned in the case I knew that Apple is able to disable my computer remotely.
Anyway, maybe a choice for upcoming models... so why wait till customers are deciding to buy a new computer when the manufacturer can force them
Not sure if it is mentioned in the thread JDee provided... but it is a good idea to write down the serial number of the computer, so it can be identified later.
