Trumpet peaking on one track

Hi all. We recorded a song for a buddy of mine using Garageband. He has a Mackie board and mic'd stuff. I have the tracks and have gotten them sounding pretty good, but the trumpet player was a big, um, sloppy and I want to bring him down in the mix.
Here is my problem... there is a bunch of other sound on that track that I want to keep and I can't figure out how to just get the trumpet a bit lower in the mix.
Any advice where to start?
What I settled on at this point is going in and adjusting the volume down on that track in those spots, but other important stuff gets quieter at those points too, most notable the drums and some bass the mic picked up.

Your best bet would be to use E.Q.
Try the AUGraphicEQ (Info; Details; blank effect), set at 31-band; try one band at a time, starting at mid frequencies, and work your way up. Push each band up until you find the range that the trumpet dominates in, then carefully pull down that range to bring it to a more comfortable level.
It's a tough bet when multiple instruments are on one track, but you might get lucky. Just experiment.

Experience (of iPods) tells me that the 160GB Classic and the 120GB Classic are from the same "family" and should therefore behave the same way. (The nano is a different family and the Touch another family yet again.)
So, since my 160GB Classic can play one episode at time, your 120GB Classic should too. To achieve this, turn on *shuffle songs/albums.* No, I'm not joking!
With shuffle on the Podcasts will play one episode at time when you select an episode from the episode list. Be sure to turn on the shuffle from "within a song" or from the ettings menu. If you have shuffle displayed on the main menu and use that to start shuffling songs, it doesn't affect Podcasts. You will know it's set correctly because the display will show 1 of 1 instead of 1 of "X".

I would like to know how to insure that all track from a CD I rip into i-tunes all go into the same file regardless of the artist on the CD. I was recdently importing an All Time Low CD into i-Tunes for my daughter and because one track featured a guest a

i would like to be able to insure that when i import a CD into i-Tunes that all tracks from that CD go into a single file for that album in their proper order regardless of whether or not there is a featured artist on one or two tracks or whatever. i recentl;y imported an All Time Low CD into i-Tunes for my daughter and because one song featured a guest artist i-Tunes placed that song in a seperate folder and so when i synced my daughters i-Pod Touch that one track is not with the rest of the tracks form the album and has to be listened to seperately. The song is from the same album and should be where it belongs with the rest of that album so she can listen to the entire album with the tracks in the proper order. I am sure that this can be done i just don't know how.

Edit the Name of the problem song to Name [Feat. Guest]
Change the Artist of that song to All Time Low

What you want cannot be done. iTunes has its quirks, and the above is the kind of workaround needed to make the media display sensibly on any device. The article I pointed you to has others that you may find useful in future.

How do you copy automation from one track to another?

How do you copy automation from one track to another? Occassionally I mistakenly blow away a track's automation. I open up an earlier version of the song to try to get the automation. It doesn't seem that you can copy and paste the data. After some struggle, I find a way. Is there an easy way?

1. Copy the track containing the desired automation to another track. (create a track below it to keep things organized)
2. Double click on the region and delete the notes.
3. Now copy the region to the desired track.
P.S. Of course when Logic asks if you want to copy the automation data you say yes)

In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

How can you collapse several video tracks into one track?

Hi, I have a stack of five video tracks that make up an identification placard for a speaker. I need to create motion on this, but don't want to have to do it to every track individually. I believe there is a way to incapsulate all five tracks into one track. Does anyone know the method of doing this?

Select the tracks and type Option - C, or go to the menu Sequence > Nest Item(s).
That will nest the tracks in to one clip on your timeline. If you need to make changes in the nest, double click on the nested clip in the timeline and it will re-open the tracks that have been nested.

How to Change multiple keys on one loop in one track

Several one-to-one lessons fail to reveal how I can change loops key independent of other loops. Example, take a loop and loop it four times in one track, trying to make first loop E, second loop A, third loop B, fourth loop C. Seems when I change one, they all change to the new key. Anyone know how to create independent control over each segment?

Can I have multiple volume levels in one track?

I have a track composed of audio from a cassette recorder of a now deceased relative's voice.
Since the cassette was turned on and off during recording, the recordings are at different volumes.
I have been able to import the cassette into a GarageBand project, and delete dead space, but now I find that the volume is not consistent.
Any way to remedy that? I am wondering if I need to chop it up and make more than one track, and adjust the volume on each track? Will this work as long as the tracks don't overlap?
And then do I send the finished product to iTunes in order to be able to use it in an iMovie?
Or can I drag it right from GarageBand to iMovie?

Hello, I am a composer and I would like to print out a piece that will have piano, voice, and possibly other instruments on it. So far I can only seem to print one track at a time rather than the whole piece. I would REALLY appreciate any help!

No problem. Finale's full software package is pretty expensive, but they offer a scaled-down $10 version called NotePad which will import MIDI files and print scores. I'd suggest starting with that and seeing if it is sufficient:

How do you enable more than one track at a time?

Couldn't find it in the help portion of the program. I am beginning to believe I have an incomplete help document. Anyway, I want to record more than one track at a time, for example vocals and guitar, while being able to monitor them. Thanks. btw why is this forum so slow? It like totally runs fine till I sign in to my user account. Then it's as slow as a cyber snail.

Okay, I will try that. I have one last question pertaining to this. Will this work if I am using a condenser mic on phantom power through a midi device while plugging the guitar through the same midi-device? I will try a few things either way but I thought I might ask before hand.

I have looked, read and tried - but cannot enable more than one track at a time... How do you do it?
I am using a Lexicon Omega USB interface. With two mics plugged in to it, I am able to assign MIC 1 to a track, and MIC 2 onto a different track. However, cannot get BOTH tracks to go "live" at the same time.

"basic track" is a short cut. whenever i explain something to someone recording an audio instrument i always tell them to create s New Basic Track. it's simple, to the point, has no effects on it (and you can add those later, anyway, the BEST way to do it)
however, either would not cause the issues you're dealing with at the moment, both are valid. Basic just skips a step.

Error received when trying to import/only one track at a time...

When I go to import my cd into iTunes it is only letting me import one track at a time. Also occasionally I getting this error when I try to import a track. "The file 'xxxxx.cda' cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file." What's with this? Any help/suggestions?
