Truncated txt files in 'Notes'?

I have a new 2g 2gig iPod Nano, and am attempting to use it to view text files via the Extras>Notes section. The files (between 16 and 30k in .txt format) show up, but are always cut off well before the end of the file.
I know it's an odd question, but has anyone else had this problem or have any recomendations on how I might repair it? Each file I've tried seems to cut off in a ransom place, not after a certain word count, and there's no issue with the memory on the iPod...
I searched high and low on this board and throughout the manual, but haven't found any info on this... help?

Or you could just install iPodLinux...
=P
speaking of which, I have not been able to do with my 4G nano. I am having trouble mapping it in MS-DOS. Anyone know proper usage and syntax for the "aes" command?
I think it's like this:
aes x \info
where x is 1, 2, ... whatever drive you are mapping.
I feel your pain with the txt truncation too, I have Beowulf, Macbeath, and Hamlet, and I don't want to break them into chapters haha.

  • Japanese characters in a UTF-8 encoded .txt file are not showing up correctly since upgrade to 4.0

I frequently use Firefox to look at Japanese language UTF-8 .txt files on my local disk. Since the 4.0 upgrade the Japanese text looks like this "牢獄 ろうごく". I've played with various options but nothing seems to work.

Fixed the problem. I set the default encoding to UTF-8 under content--->fonts & colors--->advanced. Doesn't seem to have a negative effect on other pages either.

  • Cannot Read Entire TXT Files in "Notes" folder

Ihave a 4G iPod nano (red, if relevant... I think it's a 4g?) I cannot read entire text files in the notes folder. I can read part of the file, usually up to about a 2 KB size in standard Unicode format, but I am unable to view the entire text file. For example, I have a copy of Beowulf on my iPod that is about 267KB in size; however, I can only read through 1.87KB of it. The rest shows up in Windows Explorer and is fully functional there, but I Cannot view it from my iPod.
Anyone else have this problem, and know what I can do to fix this (besides breaking it up into about 50 chapters?)
    Thanks Much!

The max size for any note that can be read in the notes on ipod is 4kb. That said there is no alternative way of getting around this size. here is a good article about working with ipod notes.

  • When I send an image to my email, it's a .txt file and not a .jpg.  Is there a setting I need to change? This has recently begun happening.

All of a sudden, when I email a picture, it has the extension .txt instead of .jpg.  What can I do to fix this?

I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

  • Thousands of individual .txt files being created while using "next available file name" option in Save to ASCII step

I'm using Signal Express to record Load vs Displacement data and export it to a format our engineers can work with (in this case ASCII is okay). It would seem that by selecting the Next Available File Name from the drop down arrow it would do just that. For instance a typical save path for me would look like C:\....Desktop\Project Number and Description\Run_1.txt within that Run1.txt file would be all the data points for that run. When I hit record again Signal Express would (SHOULD) create a Run_2 since it's the Next Available File Name.
But instead what it does is creates a single txt file for every single sample point being read. Needless to say, If I'm recording 6 second of data at 1khz I end up with thousands of txt files!
The first thing that comes to mind is, why would anyone want this?
Second is how can I record multiple individal runs for the same project and have the file name increment?

...and more attachments of the ASCII save path, before and after acquiring 4 seconds of data along with one of the files from that folder.
Again, this is 4 seconds of two-channel spring  plot data at 100 Samples to Read @ 1k Rate (Start Run.... wait 4 seconds or two full test sample cycles... Stop Run).
    ~EDIT~
The .txt file would not attach (I think it's too small). Here's what it looks like if you were to open it:
Load vs Displ - Displ (inches)    Load vs Displ - Load (lbs)
    3.736323                              273.751906
Also, for some reason it won't let me attach my project file. It's a .seproj extension but the forum thinks it's 1k in size and "empty"

  • Why can't I import a .txt file to a PDF created in Livecycle Designer?

I am trying to import data into a PDF, simple stuff like names and addresses. I've saved my spreadsheet as a tab delimited .txt file, but when i go to import data in the PDF, .txt files are not an option. Is there a setting in Livecycle or in Acrobat that I haven't found?

Is there a way for me to import the data to a PDF created in LiveCycle designer?

  • Report with Access Database or TXT file

    Dear All,
I was wondering if someone can help me with the following issue.
We have created a Crystal Reports XI report which has a Access MDB or Plain Text file as source data (2 different reports; one with MDB connection only and the other one with a Lotus Notes ODBC connection and TXT file).
The report runs correctly locally and it also runs correctly on the server but as soon as I post the report via the repository folder to the server, it does not work anymore.
Viewing the report via InfoView gives me a password request while both, the MDB and TXT file are not password protected.
We have tried to make system DSN and file DSN connections to both the MDB and TXT file but also this ends with a password request which is not defined.
Did anyone came across this as well? Any idea about a solution?
    Thank you in advance,
    Annique.

    Hi Annique,
Since this works in CR Designer I'm moving your post to the Business Objects forum.
It's likely due to BOE servers not having access to the data sources. Make sure you put them in a folder that the WEB server and BOE Servers have access to. To prompt for log on is because we can't find the data files.
    Thank you

  • Importing Text Files  into Notes

Having trouble reading imported text. I have IPod nano 3rd gen. It is checked to enable disc use. When I drop a .txt file into notes folder, then eject IPod, I can see the document titles in IPod/notes however, text displays as code (alot of 0's &1's and other garbled letters). Does anyone know why this happens and how I can solve this? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks

The files MUST be plain text files (possible sich text format as well) but not Word Documents and stuff like that. Simply taking a Word document and changing the extension from .doc to .txt won't do it for you, if that is what you tried.

  • Issue - updating .txt file as a dbs source

Hi gyus, I have following problem (CR 8.5)
for a subreport within a main report, I use a .txt file as a db source (which I connect to via ODBC).
    It looks like for example:
    Year;Col1;Col2
    2007;20;30
    2008;25;35
I need to add one more column, so it looked like:
    Year;Col1;Col2;Col3
    2007;20;30;40
    2008;25;35;45
So I edit the txt file, open the report and then I click "Verify Database" in the subreport I expect update to happen, so that I can see a new field among database fields in field explorer dialog so later I could put it into my report. Yet nothing happens, it says "Dtabase is up to date" and the change of the txt file is not recognized by CR.
    Any ideas/tips/help appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hi Martin,
Please try to set the datasource location.
    For ODBC Connections
    1. On the 'Database' menu, click 'Set Datasource Location'.
    2. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click the data source to be changed. You must click each individual table in the data source one by one. If the data source is a stored procedure you will not see individual tables.
    NOTE
In Crystal Reports 10, XIR1, and XIR2, if you are mapping from a data source such as a stored procedure where the report designer can not determine which fields should be mapped automatically, you will see a 'Mapping' dialog box where you can manually map fields, as in the procedure cited above.
    3. In the 'Replace with' section, click the data source you want the report to use.
    4. Click 'Update'.
    5. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.
The report now points to the new location.
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards
    Ankeet

  • Reading a txt file into a text member with BuddyAPI.

    Hi I have this:
    mFile =_movie.path &"TheTEXT.txt"
    theFile = baShell("open", mFile, "", "", "normal")
which opens a txt file in note pad. I don't have an idea on how to do this with API to be opened into a txt member.
    Thanks
    Brian

You don't need Buddy API to import text (which is what you appear to be trying to do) - just set the filename of an existing (or new) text member to the file:
    -- tTextMember = _movie.newMember(#text)
    tTextMember.filename = _movie.path & "TheText.txt"
    tText = tTextMember.text

The problem is in the delimiters in your text file. By default, Read From Spreadsheet File.vi expects a tab delimited file. You can specify a delimiter (like a space), but Read From Spreadsheet File.vi has a problem with repeated delimiters: if you specify a single space as a delimiter and Read From Spreadsheet File.vi finds two spaces back-to-back, it stops reading that line. Your file (as I got it from your earlier post) is delimited by 4 spaces.
Here are some of your choices to fix your problem.
    1. Change the source file to a tab delimited file. Your VI will then run as is.
    2. Change the source file to be delimited by a single space (rather than 4), then wire a string constant containing one space to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi.
    3. Wire a string constant containing 4 spaces to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi. Then your text file will run as is.
Depending on where your text file comes from (see more comments below), I'd vote for choice 1: a tab delimited text file. It's the most common text output of spreadsheet programs.
Comments for choices 1 and 2: Where does the text file come from? Is it automatically generated or manually generated? Will it be generated multiple times or just once? If it's manually generated or generated just once, you can use any text editor to change 4 spaces to a tab or to a single space. Note: if you want to change it to a tab delimited file, you can't enter a tab directly into a box in the search & replace dialog of many programs like notepad, but you can do a cut and paste. Before you start your search and replace (just in the text window of the editor), press tab. A tab character will be entered. Press Shift-LeftArrow (not Backspace) to highlight the tab character. Press Ctrl-X to cut the tab character. Start your search and replace (Ctrl-H in notepad in Windows 2000). Click into the Find What box. Enter four spaces. Click into the Replace With box. Press Ctrl-V to paste the tab character. And another thing: older versions of notepad don't have search and replace. Use any editor or word processor that does.

    Please help me guys..
    Thanks in advance..
    Prabhu.R

    Hi Rakesh,
    two ways.
    1. Ask ur BASIS team to increase the memory level.
    2. Check the PACKAGE SIZE option of select statement
Here u  won't select all the data once but in packets of specified size. So get the packets of data and process.
Just press F1 on package size. That explanation will be enough to proceed further.
    Thanks,
    Vinod.
