Truncation of field in report

I have designed a Crystal Report template (RPT) with 15 fields in Crystal reports Designer XI. The report is viewed through 'Crystal report Viewer' control of a VB-6 application. But truncation is happening at the right end field of report. Is there any method available to avoid truncation without reducing the width of fields in the template?
I tried by increasing the width of 'Crystal reports Viewer' control. But it didn't help

Open the report in Crystal Designer XI and Go to menu option File>page setup> check the No Printer option and save the report.

Updated to CR 2008 - now have new problem with truncated String fields.

I'm hoping someone has a simple answer for this one... notice there's a lot of it on forums but I haven't found an answer.
Since updating to Crystal 2008 (Crystal 12), we have found that some reports are suddenly truncating string fields at 255 characters, despite the field value being much longer in the database.
Does anyone know what to do to allow these fields to print in completion?
Database connection is ODBC RDO.

What is the database Oracle, SQL server etc.
Can you query the database directly with another query tool, eg SQL Server Management Studion or SQL developer/Toad for Oracle.
You can then run the Crystal query directly and see if its your ODBC connection that is truncating the datafield or Crystal.
I have memo fields on SQL server with up to 2000 characters and these display in Crystal 2008 without any problem. We use ODBC (RDO) too.

How i can take a field of report for use it in query?

i hve a table where bills of customer are ready i simply take it on report by select statement.all bills are ready for print.now problem is that i need history of bills for every customer at it's own bill.when i give self join for history, it also add other customer history .there is any possible way that take customer id(report field) from report and search it's records . plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

the original query and child query on customer id column.
I mean write a child query for searching records on customer id and then link
this customer id with your already existing query. I think this will solve your problem

How to add new fields in report painter without library

Hi,.
I have to add new fields in report painter(std one) which is not in any library and so I am not able to add the fields in characteristics. Though I have added zfields in CCR1S but I am not able to add these fileds in characteristics in report painter(say - CJe3 t-code)
How to procedd for this.

hi,
first i copied the report 12KST1G in my Y12KST1G with form. In CJE2 when i Click this report then in the whatever fields coming in the characteristics we can put it in 'variables' tab and these will be the fields which is displayed on the selecton screen. So after doing the wbove changes in the exit , I am not able to get the fields in characteristics vale so that I can put it in variable. or do we have to do some chnages in the screen for this z report which is like std. one.
FYI..The display of the fields was done in z-report with library but this is like a report without library and we did some chnages in the exit.

Custom fields in Report painter in CCSS table

Hello Experts,
I am in a processes of developing a report painter with custom fields in the selection screen.
The custom fields are available in PRPS table.
With hard difficulties I brought the custom fields in selection screen of the report painter.
I have added the fields in the structure CI_CC1S
Everything is fine. But if I enter a value in the custom field, the report is not fetching any data.
These custom fields are related to the WBS element.
For example if the value of the CUSTOM field is 'AAA', then I want to retrieve ony the WBS element which has 'AAA'.
Somewhere I am missing a procedure.
Could anyone suggest how to achieve this.

Oracle Provider for oledb 8i & 9i truncates LONG fields

I have a situation where my Oracle oledb driver truncates LONG fields.
My application that runs queries using the oracle oledb driver.
The query is a join between two tables and includes a LONG as one of the fields retrieved.
When the Cursor Location is set to server the data returned is truncated.
Setting the Cursor Location to Client I can retrieve the complete data under specific cursor and lock types. The Microsoft driver for oracle does not truncate.
Note that a simple query without the join does not cause the problem.
Has anyone else noticed this? I know its quite specific.

Unfortunately, setting ChunkSize to 65535 does not help me,
because data in a column are longer, then 64K (and are truncated
to 64K). Please, have you found any solution?

Programmaticaly reposition field in report

hi,
Depending on param enetered at r/time I need to programmtically position a field in reports 2.5 (win 95). Is this possible ?
Eg.
If param_1 = 'X' then position field at x-10 y-34 co-ordinates.

The only way you can move an object in Reports is through anchoring it to another object. When these other objects expand or contract, they push/pull other objects to different locations.
In your case, you could place a variable sized boilerplate object with transparent text above it and then add content to that object to push another object down the page. (This will give you the 'y' positioning).
You can also have those two object surrounded by a frame and have another variable sized object to push the frame across the page. (This will give you the 'x' positioning)
Depending on what your requirement actually is this may be tedious to get the exact positioning but it should be possible. Also remember that other objects on the page will push things around as well.

Mandatory field in report

Hi,
I have a date field on report.
Now this needs to be mandatory and report should be run in batch mode with a variant.
Also when the report is run the first time the date should not be taken from the selection screen input but from TVARV, this is fine, logic can be written for this.
However since date is a mandatory field and the only way to check whether user input or TVARV needs to be selected is the FIRST ot the subsequesnt runs of the report.
How to find out if the report has run first time, it is being scheduled as a batch job with a variant.

As you want to make the DATE field in your report as mandatory and will be picking up the last run date (DATE) from the same table whenever your run the table then while you are fetching the date from TVARV table , for the first time as there is no data stored in TVARV table for your program your query will fail. In this case i.e. sy-subrc = 4, please create a enrty in the same table.
I am assuming that you will be updating the DATE (last run date) in TVARV table everytime after the successfull execution of the program.

Sorting a varchar2 field in Report 10g

i have a table of salaries, which have a field RANK_NO VARACHAR2.
I create a report and order it by RANK_NO. but it is not ordering what i want to be. it is ordered like

then i use the order by cluase like this,
ORDER BY TO_NUMBER(REGEXP_SUBSTR(RANK_NO,'[0-9]+')),
REGEXP_SUBSTR(UPPER(RANK_NO),'[A-Z]+').
but the result is same .
how to sort a varchar2 field in reports?

Requirement given: ZINVB4P_UOP - Acct Payable Rpt - Blocked for Paymt note: add the scheduled due date near the invoice date. This report is a little different then in legacy and has way too much data so if you could create an new radio button to make it match legacy for standadizaiton that would be great.

Using Fields in Reports with stored Data

Hello,
i like to use fields in Reports with saved Data in it.
Is this possible ?
Example:
A Invoicereport with saved Data in a File. Now i like to get the Field Invoice_ID to use this in VB.net.
Any Idea ?

You can export a report with saved data and then change the filtering without hitting the DB again. If you are asking if using a flat file as the data source there are multiple ways to do this. Define an ODBC data source to the file and specify the sturcture, or using ADO.NET and a record set, or using XML as the data source. Lots of ways in newer versions of CR. 8.5 was limited so the ODBC example is your best option.
Or if you are asking how to get the data from the report you can use REadRecords. Not sure if 8.5 has this functionality though. It's way past it's end of life so I can't look.

Add fields to reporting table/structure CCSS

My customer has defined some new fields (Z......) for WBS reporting in table PRPS. They would like to use these fields in report painter reports, but we have not managed to make them available in the library used (6P3). In order to make that happen they must show in the reporting table/structure used (CCSS) I guess? According to SAP there's no "easy way" of doing this, but obviously it should be possible.
Can somebody give ma an idea how this can be done?

Eventually we manage to get the customer defined field to show up as a characteristic in the relevant library. The reason we struggled with this was the defined length of the field. SAP does not accept a characteristic with a defined field length of more than 24 characters (we had 30). We ended up redefining the length of the field directly in include CI_CC1Z.
