  • Unable to place call on calls on hold - SIP Trunk from CUCM to CUBE and from CUBE to ISTP

    Hi Cisco Community,
    I have a SIP Trunk setup between the CUCM and CUBE and another SIP Dial Peers from the CUBE to the ITSP. All incoming/outgoing calls, DTMF-Relay works well except one thing which is the ability to hold the call.
    On the SIP Trunk from the CUCM to the CUBE, I did not select “MTP” because when I do so, I am forced to select my preferred MTP codec which when selected G.729/G.729a, all my outgoing calls goes out using G.729r8. This codec works well for most of the calls until the ITSP replies back with G.729br8. When this condition occur, my call simply fails (this is very intermittent and only some random numbers).
    That said, I have some issues with DTMF Relay when I select MTP on the SIP Trunk. DTMF Relay only works if the call is G.729r8 all the way from the CUCM to the ITSP. If the ITSP replies back with G.729br8, the call might established but will simply be “voice-only”.
    The current setup is no MTP is selected and everything is working perfectly. I am happy with that until I place a call on hold, which when I do so, the call immediately terminate. Could you please help me understand why?
    I have all media resources configured such as G.729r8 MTP, G.729br8 MTP, G.711u MTP, Transcoding with all codecs, etc. All MRG and MRGL are configured on all devices and SIP Trunks.

    Again, excellent feedback. Much appreciated.
    I will try the commands suggested above and see if I can get DTMF to work correctly while interworking H.323 and SIP.
    But my ultimate goal is to have SIP all way from the CUCM to the CUBE and from the CUBE to the ITSP.
    If I enable SIP Early Offer with MTP on the CUCM going to the CUBE, all SIP Invite sent from the CUCM to the CUBE uses G.729r8 as the codec and once the call is established using G.729r8 should the ITSP reply with that codec, the call succeed and I am able to see an active MTP session using G.729 when I issue the command # show sccp connections.
    One thing that I saw is that my ITSP love so much sending G.729br8 most of the times, so even if using SIP EO with MTP on the SIP Trunk to the CUBE, when I sent my INVITE out from the CUCM to the CUBE using G.729r8, specially on call center numbers such as 0800 numbers, you will see that the call established but the codec being negotiated is G.729br8 which is voice only (missing DTMF).
    I will be doing some intensive test again later on this week and will send the logs. 
    Here is my question to both of you:
    Which is the best way of having a proper SIP to SIP setup all the way that will not pose any problem?
    Do I have to enable Early Offer on the SIP Profile used by the CUBE SIP Trunk or should I use the normal Standard SIP Profile? Do I need to enable MTP on my CUBE SIP Trunk or not?
    From the CUBE point of view, I have a voice class codec that support G.729r8 or G.729br8 and the DTMF Relay method supported by the ITSP is RFC 2833.
    I will send more logs for each scenario. I think that we are getting close to the resolution of this problem.

    Simple question: I want to remove all trunking from a port on a switch running catos. Clear Trunk seemed the obvious option, though it seems to just remove the vlans that are allowed to pass over the trunk port. Set Trunk mod/port Off doesn't do the trick either. Any thoughts?

  • Route Map Policy on SVI - Trunk from ESX

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding the following configuration.
    A route map matches traffic from a particular subnet, say on VLAN 10 (using an ACL).
    A route map policy is applied on this SVI (int vlan 10)
    A server on this subnet is running on ESX which is connected to the switch on a trunk port.
    The ESX host tags all frames from this server as VLAN 10.
    In this scenario, should the route map pick up the traffic from this server? I don't see why not, but in my testing it doesn't seem to be working :)

    It's a 3750x (stack) with 12.2(55)SE5.
    I've already changed the SDM template to routing and rebooted the switch.
    I don't think the route map is working at all actually :) See config below, let me know if you can spot anything obvious but the networks on the ACL are definitely correct.

  • Dot1q trunk from single switch to multiple switches

    Hi,
    Hope you can help please !
    I have a single switch with 6 vlans and one trunk port at the main site  This has to connect to a 3 separate locations each with its own switch with a trunked port via a microwave network.
    I have run it in packet tracer using a hub as the microwave network.  It works fine in that, I just want to check it would 'actually' work or could it cause problems ?

    We are loosing quite a few E1 circuits and they are being replaced with only a few ethernet, so we need to conserve them.
    It is indeed a L2 network.  The VLANs don't need to communicate with each other and will terminate into a firewall.  I used the PC's on the left as an interface just.
    I was concerned about having one trunk port connect to 3 other switches.  I wasn't sure how they would react as I've ever only used trunks point to point.  
    Hence why I used the hub in PT to break a single trunk into 3.  I just wasn't sure how the switches would react to this.

    Hi, I have a PGW2200 and as5350 connected to siwtch(SS7) and PBX(ISDN PRI Q.931). I have configured SS7 signaling link termination from iSLT of 5350 to PGW2200 and ISDN PRI termination in 5350. Now I have no idea how to configure remaining voice timeslots of SS7 link, and how convert between SS7 and PRI beacuse of my PGW2200 is in nailed mode.
    Could anyone help?

    We have a 2691 cisco router and a Linksys (cisco) 24 port switch.
    Each E port is set with a different untagged VLAN ID grouped to G1 uplink port and is tagged
    The G1 port then is trunked and is tagged to native VLan 1
    One of the router ethernet ports is configued as

    Problem is all VLAN E ports on switch cannot get past the router.
    Some E ports not with VLAN then default to VLAN 1 and they can function past the router.
    The config of the switch was verified with Linksys as being correct which leaves a router config issue
    So in short the switch would have 24 VLANs untagged going through trunk which is tagged ending up hitting router and then out WAN ports.

    Is this correct ?
    A: The configuration above says that vlan 1 is native vlan, which means the router is expecting a "raw" packet to belong to vlan 1. "raw" packet menas it does not have any vlan id, I do not want to use "tag" coz "tag" might mean something else to Linksys. So, if it's "raw" as in if a PC transmit a packet, it will have no vlan id field.
    Problem is all VLAN E ports on switch cannot get past the router.
    Some E ports not with VLAN then default to VLAN 1 and they can function past the router.
    A: If you mean, they can ping the 216.110.213.1 and beyond 216.110.213.0/24 then that would be expected.
    The ports that belongs to other vlans will need a default gateway of their own, they cannot use the vlan 1 gateway because they are in different subnet. from the cofnig above, you only have sub-interface for vlan 1, do you have sub-interface for other vlans? If not, you need it.
    The config of the switch was verified with Linksys as being correct which leaves a router config issue

    I'm having difficulties to configure VLAN trunking between Cisco Catalyst 3750 switch with Cisco SF300-48P switch and my workstation unable to get any DHCP IP from our DHCP server via Cisco SF300-48P switch. Below is the snippet of configuration on both switches:

    Hi Alex,
    for the trunk port on Catalyst on port GE 1/0/45, we need to enable the trunk and for on encapsulation dot1q because this catalyst model is ISL capable also and the SF300 working only with Dot1q Encapsultion
    The configuration on catalyst should :

    # switchport encapsulation 
    #switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    #switchport mode trunk 
    #switchport trunk allowed vlan 101-103

    For SF300 the port trunk it looks fine but for the port where the PC should receive an IP address

  • Unable to switch to trunk from branch checked out with CVS

    Help!
    We've run into a can't get there from here issue of not being able to switch back to the trunk when we've checked out a branch from CVS.
    Using JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0
    Scenario:
    Working on maintained in CVS.
    Create Branch on code B1. (Versioning -> Branch, Branch Name = "B1", Source = "Trunk")
    Now we can't get back to the trunk. When you select switch branch it only shows HEAD. Select that and you end up on some IDE generated tag called "HEAD", where you can't add files or check in changes.
    How can you get back to the trunk?

    Are you aware that "always view this page in IE" isn't a standard feature in Firefox? It's a feature of a Firefox extension, which is why you can't find it on a Firefox help page.
    Check the download page for that particular extension to find out how to change that preference, or tell us which extension that is and we'll look for a FAQ page for that extension.

  • Global SIP trunking from single provider

    Our large global organisation is deploying on-premise Lync EV across 200+ sites globally.
    We want to minimise the number of suppliers we use in this project and use SIP trunking where possible.
    Are there any global telcos that would be able to offer me SIP trunking, with global points of presence on their network, and also 'full' SIP services for most countries.
    By full SIP services I mean, competitive pricing (compared to local Telco), emergency number dialling, other special numbers, and full number portability
    I have found some of our existing SIP providers can provide services in other countries, but they are not very good at it, and it is overpriced and they don't really know what they are doing.
    Surely there must be a few big players who can offer me a truly global service with regional trunks and services for all our locations?

    That’s a great question. The answer is, yes there are. There are a number of global carriers or at least carriers who claim to be global (and who
    only serve NA/LA and Europe with bits of the pacific. However, if you use one of these guys, prepare to pay a premium, as their target market is large enterprise business who are prepared to pay for the privilege of a 'one throat too choke' relationship. I
    have worked for these carriers, so know this to be fact. In most countries where this TDM telephony and now Internet, somebody has built an in country SIP business. These in country providers, tend to focus on the small to medium up to mid-market enterprise
    community, for customers who want in country SIP services. A number of regional integrators have gone to these providers in the major geographies and built SIP propositions on top of their own networks and provider these to customers who are prepared to pay
    for the privilege of having one supplier (again I know this to be fact, as I have worked for them).
    What the industry needs is a collective agreement where Tier 1 SIP providers in each of these countries, create an alliance based network for the
    handoff of traffic at International colocation points. For example, my company in the UK perhaps peering at Tele house and enabling the wholesale SIP connectivity to any carrier who likewise wants to be colocating at that point. This would enable each SIP
    carrier to provider their own A-Z IPT tariff and offer in country local break out and emergency services, enabling business A in Country A to call Business B in Country B for the price of a local phone call.
    It's so obvious, but finding someone who does this is a challenge. Probable today each of these in country SIP carriers have enough business by
    focusing on their own country, without the need to expand their geographies and put their hands in their pockets for the required investment. Just as in the TDM industry where carriers built global A-Z traffic exchange points, this organic growth and service
    evolution will take place. When, probably depends on one of two things happening. Either (a) the in country carriers seeing more opportunity from their existing customer base to develop an offer for international service provision or (b) someone visionary
    and with deep pockets grabbing the opportunity.
    The solution for you? Take service from your in country provider and build your own international end points if you can. If I can be of any father

  • Not receiving the 486 message from CUCM to Genesys via SIP trunk.

    I have setup where Genesys is used along with CUCM 9.1
    Below is the snapshot how it will look for call flow.
    PRI----V.G----CUCM---SIP trunk (created in CUCM)-----Geneys server.
    Query here is for outbound call from SIP softphone to PSTN, where if the PSTN user cancel the call.
    the SIP phone is still assuming the call is continuing and after 40 sec its getting disconnected.
    after looking in to the sip traces... it looks like that SIP trunk from cucm is not sending the user busy message 486....
    (checked in V.G and its giving user busy)...but in the CUCM its not getting sent to the genesys...
    After some time in genesys server itself send the 480 Temporarily Not Available message...
    I assume I  should get the 486 message from CUCM to genesys when the PSTN party disconnect the call without answering.
    Please assist.

    From logs what i can see is after one min call legs stops transmitting and receiving packets.
    You certainly need to check this Genesys support for this behavior , as far as I know  there is no problem either with the CUCM or with VG.

  • 3550 - 3750 problem. Fiber type or configuration?

    I'm having trouble with a link that was working with a 3600 as an end device, but won't work when replaced with a stack of 3750 switches. A couple of co-workers in our group has looked at it, but can't find anything obvious.
    The path is from a 6500 on multimode trunked fiber to a converter to single mode fiber, (then under the street) to a 3550 Long Haul Gbic. Then we took copper from the 3550 to a 3660 10/half(?). To this point it used to work. We pulled the 3600 and put in a 3750 stack, and configured the copper port on the 3550 to 100/full, and the same on the 3750. The problem is that we can go to the middle device and then ping and telnet both ways from there. But we cannot go from the 6513 through the 3550 to the 3750. I turned debug icmp on the 3550, and it's not seeing anything from the 3750 when I try to go to the gateway.
    Both swiches have the default gateway pointing back to the HSRP Vlan VIP of the 6513. CDP is seeing its neighbors. All interfaces seem to be up/up. Here are the snippets of configs for all ports. Maybe someone can see something I'm missing? The only thing I can think could be a mismatch somewhere between the switches, or the multimode to single mode fiber is not translating.

    I can't say the configuration is eithre good or not as it does not really show a lot. As far as L2 configuration they seem okay as all the ports are configured for trunking, however, the trunk port between 3550 and 3750 looks like the are "forced" to turnk with the mode trunk. are the vlans in forwarding mode in both sides (show int trunk). What happens when the port between 3550 and 3750 are in desirable mode, does it build the trunk? More important questions is what ip address are you pinging on the 3750? What vlan should it belong to?
    Maybe you can post the following:
    1. ping from 6513 to the 3550.
    2. ping from 6513 to the 3750.
    I want to keep it short so might have some question after seeing the above outputs.

  • Setup 2950 to talk back to 3550-24-FX

    I'm trying to connect 2 switches as follows: I have a 3550-24-FX switch as a core component at the main closet, from port # 6 on the 3550-24-FX I have a fiber patch cable going to a fiber panel. Then I have another wiring closet where the fiber panel goes to another fiber panel. From closet # 2 I have a fiber patch cable going to a fiber to copper converter, then from the converter I have an ethernet patch cable to a port on the 2950 switch. I get lights on both switches at each end, but there is no traffic, I cannot ping anything and I know trunking ports are setup right. What am I missing here? Will the config file help?

    if you are sure that your physical connectivity is ok, check if the trunks is 802.1Q on the 3550. The 2950 supports 802.1Q only.
    Also, check if your VTP domain and version are the same on both switches (with the ´show vtp status´) command. In order to be sure that all VLANs are properly trunked, configure the 3550 as VTP server, and the 2950 as VTP client.
    Posting the configs of your devices would certainly be useful.

  • Native vlan mismatch error msg from cdp

    get this message from my 6509 connects to 3550. but no trunking is set between them. my other ports also have the same settings, with no err msg but have a native vlan unknown status... why???
    this 6509 is not set by me.. :(
