Trunking SG200's with Catalyst 3500 or 2950

Has anyone here tried to  mix a Catalyst switch (say, a 3500 or 2950) with a Cisco SG200-26?
I've got 4 VLANs setup on a 3500: 1 (default), 10, 20, and 30 I've tried to connect a trunk port (GBIC) out of a 3500, into a SG200,  with the hopes of being able to assign ports to those particular VLANs  on the SG200. So far, I've only been able to work on the default VLAN 1  on the SG200.
The only options I can see, are that I can create VLAN's on the  SG200, and assign ports that way --- but that doesn't seem to be passing  the VLANs, just creating them fresh again -- I think
Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?
Recap:
Out of the 3500:
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
description Trunk_To_SG200
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
Connected to the SPF port 26 on the SG200-26
Plugging into ports 1-24, I get a DHCP address from the default VLAN 1

Hi Andy, you could make a LLDP policy on the Catalyst to force the Sx200 smart ports to respond.

  • Catalyst 3500 XL IOS 12, with VoIP (2 vlan on ports issue)

    hi,
    i tried to setup a catalyst 3500 XL to run with VoIP.
    I need on a port to TAG 2 VLAN (link to the backbone), and on the others to tag one VLAN (voice one) and untagged the data vlan.
    unfortunately, through the web interfcae and through the IOS command i could not setup this configuration.
    have any idea?

    The uplink to the other switch where you want all the vlans tagged:
    conf t
    int fa x/x
    switch
    switch trunk dot1q native vlan 99 >> vlan 99 is a dummy vlan that is not used for any data or voice, we just use this to make sure all is tag since native vlan in dot1q is not tagged with vlan id.
    int fa x/x
    switchport
    switchport trunk dot1 native vlan 2 >> the data vlan.

  • Resurrection of Catalyst 3500 seriesXL

    Hi! I got not working Catalyst 3500 seriesXL with so symptoms:
    After powering on "system", "rps" and "speed" leds are glowing. Leds of ports with numbers 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 are glowing too.
    Console port doesn't send any information... What can I do to brighten device?
    PS
    Step by step like:
    - Unplug the power cord.
    - Hold down the MODE button located on the left side of the front panel, while reconnecting the power cable to the switch
    - Release the MODE button after the STAT LED goes out. You should be at the switch: prompt.
    Doesn't work... Console still shows nothing, but "system", "rps" and "speed" leds stop glowing

    You are saying that those rps, System and speed led's are glowing.Which color led's are on.Green or Amber?let me know regarding this.I think the following URL will be helpful for u to diagonise and solve the problem.Because, it contains a detailed description of the switch front panel.

  • Catalyst 3500

    I have several catalyst 3500 XL (3512) switches that are going down and ports 3, 7, and 11 light up amber. I try to console in with a laptop and can't get a response. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Two of the ports connected to a PC and one had nothing connected. I've disconnected everything and no luck.
    What I mean is that I have several 3512 switches (6) and I've had three just stop working and not responding. One I was able to console into, but I couldn't reload the IOS. This one doesn't respond at all except sometimes when I plug it back in I get a tilde(~) or a C.

  • [SOLVED] Direct Rendering is not working with Catalyst 8.6-1.

    I own an ATI Radeon X1300, and everything was working flawlessly with Catalyst 8.5-1, and when I updated the drivers, DRI stopped working. It has happened with me in the past, and the only solution I had found then was to downgrade the drivers. I appreciate your help.

    You have to quit X, then rmmod and modprobe the kernel module - you're still using the old one.  (a reboot would technically fix it too)
    # rmmod fglrx
    # modprobe fglrx
    # dmesg | tail
    The dmesg output should say you've successfully loaded the 8.501 driver.

  • Imposible to deploy Ipv6 on lan with catalyst 2950t ?

    Is it imposible to deploy Ipv6 on Lan enviroment with catalyst 2950T access switch?
    Thanks

    [similar question was asked in "ask the expert" so posting the same answer here as well]
    - snip -
    Hello,
    This is a common question which comes quite often – What should I do with my old Layer2 switches (e.g. Catalyst 2900, 3900, 5000, etc.)? The simple answer is; IPv6 is transparent on L2 switches so no need to worry about it. However; there are couple cases where you would need to take a closer look.
    Rightly asked; one is MLD snooping. Yes, if you are planning to have real IPv6 Multicast deployment then you would need to have products which support MLD snooping at Layer2. If you are not deploying IPv6 Multicast then I would not worry about it much.
    Another one is when you have intelligent services on WLAN; may be it’s not Catalyst switch but it’s a AP where you are running intelligent services such as QoS, or ingress ACLs on AP or maybe actual controller based environment where you have thin APs and fat controllers in the back-end, but you have a distributed policy at the edge, if you are doing this and using IPv4 based protocols then you have to make sure that those products supports equivalent configurations for IPv6 capabilities or you would have serious road blocks.
    Simple “2 rules of thumb” which I always tell customers:
    There is no way you put 10lbs of sugar in a 5lb bag.
    Always have plan/testing/validation/pilot before introducing any new protocol/technology in your production network.
    Please take a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6553/at_a_glance_c45-625859.pdf and lot of good information regarding Enterprise dual-stack case studies and recommendations at www.cisco.com/go/ipv6. I would recommend you to also work with your Cisco Account and Services teams for smooth Dual-Stack deployment.

  • Reset catalyst 3500 XL series to factory defaults

    Does anyone know the command or procedure needed to reset a catalyst 3500 XL series switch to factory defaults

    I am asuming that you do not know the enable passwords to clear the config. Please follow the URL but when you get to step 9 enter Y(es) to start the configuration script.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_password_recovery09186a0080094184.shtml
    If you do have the enable password, enter "write erase" at the enable prompt and reload unit.

  • Design skin with catalyst for flash encore export ?

    Hello,
    How is it possible to redesign and animate default encore export flash skin (flashDVD.swf during video playback) with Catalyst ?
    What are  files we have to change in encore roots folder (xlm,html,swf) to insert new design and interactiv skin during video playback?
    My project is to design my own animated skin for flash export in encore cs4.
    For the moment in encore we only have this skin: flashdvd.swf (see attached file) when we export our project for flash.
    This skin looks like dvd interactive panel, but i would like to add new interactiv button, a way to change loading video position.
    I didn't find any informations about that in encore's documentations and it seems to me an very important creativ part.
    Thanks a lot and sorry for my english,
    Rudo_fr

    Hi Rudo_fr,
    I think this might be a question for the Encore forums. I'm not familiar with Encore. Here's what I can tell you: at the end of the day, Catalyst creates a SWF file (just like Flash Professonal and Flash Builder). If you can then get Encore to use that SWF file as the video player skin, you should be golden. So I would recommend going to the Encore forums and asking: how do I use an arbitrary SWF as my video player skin?

  • Installing archlinux with catalyst drivers

    Hello, i'm trying to use archlinux for a long time, but my notebook overheating with default drivers. My notebook has ATI 4650. When i try to install arch linux my notebook shuts down because of overheating while installing kernel packages. I even tried to put my computer to fridge it didn't work. I need to load kernel with catalyst drivers to install (I need a customized iso i guess). Please help me i wanna be an Archer so much

    Cdh wrote:
    You could try setting it to low power mode with the open source driver.
    First, look if  /sys/kernel/debug is empty.
    If it is, then as root:
    mount -t debugfs none /sys/kernel/debug
    Then as root again:
    echo profile > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_method
    echo low > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile
    I believe that should work from CLI-only too. But it may require a newer kernel than the one on the image (don't know what kernel the install image is at). If it doesn't work then you can use the not so official archboot image: https://downloads.archlinux.de/iso/archboot/latest
    But when it is while kernel install it sounds more to me as if the CPU was too hot since building the initramfs is only CPU intensive...
    Thanks. I will try these soon. I think GPU overheats then CPU makes the final straw during kernel install.

  • Problems with catalyst on latest kernel update [SOLVED]

    Hi, after the latest kernel update, I haven't been able to install catalyst. I was using catalyst-test, which is outdated now. And with this new kernel, the driver is not working anymore, so I'm using vesa driver for now.
    I'm trying to install the current catalyst package through yaourt, and I get a conflict. The conflict is with catalyst-test which I can't uninstall because of this:
    checking dependencies...
    error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: google-talkplugin: requires libgl
    :: lib32-libgl: requires libgl

    :: mplayer: requires libgl
    :: qt: requires libgl
    :: wxgtk: requires libgl
    :: xine-lib: requires libgl
    :: xorg-xdriinfo: requires libgl
    If I try to remove these packages, I get more dependencies unsatisfied...
    The solution I can think of is start uninstalling every one of these packages from the unsatisfied dependencies, write them down, and reinstall them once I get the ATI driver correctly installed again.
    Any other ideas on how to fix this?

    Videocard:

    Also, everytime I try to reinstall catalyst through yaourt, it downloads the executable from ati.com. Is there a way to avoid this and check if downloaded version is up to date instead of downloading it every time?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    I have a doubt about the Catalyst 2950 series, i need to pass both IP and OSI traffic trought a 2950 switch. Is it supported?

    The 2950 is a layer2 switch. Anything carried over ethernet will go, no matter which layer3 protocol is used.
