Trustedinstaller using all my RAM

I've had a laptop and a PC were I have done a reinstall from a recovery partition.
On both the system when I'm updating them the trustedInstaller.exe process has been using all of the RAM, and resulting in low memory errors.
If i install the updates bit by bit it isn't so bad. but is i install say 130 the ram hits max around the 100th update. on the laptop I've just done the process had 3,800,000KB committed ram and was only working 50,000KB, the computer only has 4GB in it
so it just maxed out and the updates would take 10x longer than they normally do.

Hi TommyWat,
What is your current situation?
What is result about using the Windows performance toolkit?
Best regards,

  • Oracle using all the ram on my server

    Hi,
I have oracle 11g r2 installed on red hat linux 5 with 8 GB of RAM. I need to specify that only oracle is installed on this machine, and even in idle (absolutely no one connected on the database) all the memory is used

You may not expressly be using all the RAM in your machine but OS X will, whether you know it or not.
Each time you read a file from disk, whatever was read is cached by the system; when the file or program is no longer in use, the memory is marked free for the system to recover for other purposes but as long as it remains in memory the next time you need to access that disk information it's simply read from memory.
The more RAM, the more disk data is kept around and the faster your machine will operate until that memory needs to be recovered or you reboot (or otherwise flush the disk cache.)

  • I am runnig Firefox 18.0.1 and the plugin-container is using all my ram, have tried altering dom.ipc.plugins to false but makes no difference. Any advice please

I am running Firefox 18.0.1 and the plugin-container is using all my ram, have tried altering dom.ipc.plugins to false but makes no difference. Any advice please

plugin-container.exe is used to run Flash and other plugins so if they crash they do not take down your main Firefox session. But... I don't think memory usage would be that different if you tricked Firefox into running Flash inside firefox.exe. (There was a thread with the trick, but I can't recall the details. It was not a regular Firefox setting.)

  • HT3918 Does Snow Leopard use all the ram installed, I know that Leopard didn't.

Does Snow Leopard use all the ram installed, 10 gigs in my case. Leopard didn't.

You should be OK with that much, however, besides the basic needs of the OS, it will depend on how many and which applications are open and how memory intensive they are. Someone might easily get away with 4GB and someone else might have trouble with 16GB.

  • Export out of Motion uses all my Ram?

Why when I export out of Motion it uses all my Ram? Whether I have 6GB or 10GB of Ram it uses it all.
Then it starts all the page outs. Right now I am at 12GB of page outs.
From what I understood you should not have a lot of page outs thats why I purchased more Ram.

Well, as a bit rate, HDV has the same throughput as regular DV. The throughput for ProRes is higher so if you have a lot of multiclip angles, you'll need RAID speeds to run it.
However, HDV is a Long GOP format and as such is not really meant for editing, it's designed for file compression. Pro-Res is an intraframe codec. You can wiki the difference if you want to get into specifics, but the gist of it is that HDV requires a lot of processor power to uncompress the GOP structure, allow for editing and then rebuild the GOP structure on export. This is what makes HDV undesirable for editing. It also eats up a lot of what Motion uses to perform math for motion gfx.
If you're working with multiclips, and you have FCS 3, then you have access to the ProRes LT and Proxy codecs, both of which are high-quality/low bitrate codecs. I would convert the HDV to proxy or LT (whichever your system can handle), edit, and then batch re-digitize to the source tapes. However, I would want the high-rez source to be ProRes regular, not HDV.

  • Anyway to fully use all the ram in bootcamp?

is there anyway to fully use all the ram in bootcamp? where now only up to 2.17 usable from my 4gb ram in macbook pro or this is normal?
    I'm using window 7 with 32bit.

Use the 64-bit Windows 7 to get the full amount of RAM.
It's a limitation of 32-bit Windows in conjunction with a limitation of Apples Boot Camp.

  • Kernel for i686 which uses all 4GB RAM?

I've got i686 (x86) version of Arch installed. How can I make it use all my 4GB RAM? It just sees 3,3GB now. I know it's possible to use more than 4GB on 32-bit with some tweaks etc (I'm using 8GB on RHEL i386 servers at work), but how do I make it so in Arch?

    Swap: 4064404 8 4064396

True Ibertus but not apparent from the post.
An added observation is that the added PAE requires ram for addressing so the full 4GB is not accessible, about 3.5GB is useable.  Thusly, the added 1GB is actually only a half GB and requires the 64g highmem mod to the kernel..required for every new upgrade.

  • How to configure LR2 to use all installed RAM?

Hoping to find some answers here about a problem I'm having with Lightroom 2.7. First let me give you some details about the computer I'm running LR on.
PowerMac G5 1.8Ghz single PowerPC CPU
    8 Gb RAM
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Lightroom 2.7
    Photoshop CS4
The OS acknowledges that there is 8 Gb of RAM installed, but in Photoshop, I am unable to assign any more than 3072Mb of RAM as that's all that's being seen by PS as "available". I can't find a configuration in LR to adjust how much RAM the software can be assigned.
I was looking around for a fix on this yesterday and saw a mentioning of running the software in 64-bit mode, but I am unable to find where that is enabled/disabled. Can anyone steer me in the direction I need to go or am I just S.O.L and bought a bunch of RAM I can't use in Photoshop and Lightroom like I bought it for?
    Thanks.

I expected this, actually. The version of OS X that ran on most G5s was not "64-bit clean."  Meaning, only some aspects of the system were 64-bit, but it was not complete from user app to kernel. So you don't get full advantage of 64-bit.
Lr can see 4Gb of address space and use that. It will request as much or as little of that as it requires. Since you have so much physical memory it can do this without causing the rest of the system to swap.

  • Not using all the ram

    Hi!
I"m wondering, I have FCE exporting a video while iMovie is importing one. I see that my Macbook is only using 750 mg of ram. How come it doesn't use the whole 2 gigs?

There are no options that cover RAM usage in the Energy Saver System Preferences. In fact, with a MacBook, you can't even select "better performance" usage of your processor. This functionality is built-in to the processor and there is no GUI for adjusting it in Mac OS X. So, there are no options you can configure to alter the amount of RAM used or not used with Mac OS X, it's all automatic.

  • Oracle use all my ram, why^

    os: Oracle enterprise linux
    oracle: 10.2.0.3
    ram:16 gig
    Situation:
I have 3 instances on my machine.
They should take maximum 2 gig of ram all together.
But my ram is all used up by oracle anyway.
    Anyone has an idea?

How are you measuring RAM usage? Many memory utilities cannot accurately measure the amount of space an Oracle process is using because Oracle uses shared memory and the utility counts the shared memory as belonging to every Oracle process.
You pga_aggregate target is way too low as this is a database wide parameter so it should reflect total user process memory for those aspects of memory that the feature can affect. It is also just a target and if the total memory needed to support the processes exceeds the target then the target is exceeded. That is if each process needs 5M but the pga_aggregate allows only 2M on average the processes will take 5M and the total will be equal to 5M X number of processes. What the feature provides is Oracle allocates more memory for certain operations such as sorts when the load is light and the memory is available than when the load is heavy.

  • My retina MBP using all its ram?

    Hello,
My first gen 15" retina MBP is almost always out of its 8GB of memory (I notice by watching activity monitor). Usually only 60 or so MB is free
This occurs with rather plain usage - Chrome web browser, itunes, word, mail open on average
    Activity Monitor lists:
    kernal_task : 909MB, 101 threads
    WindowServer : 378 MB, 6 threads
then mail, chrome, itunes, etc all taking normal amounts, 100MB each or so
Whenever I close some windows to free up memory, it is quickly refilled by I don't know what.
    Is this strange behavior?
    Thanks,
    Grant

Mavericks is designed to use RAM more efficiently than prior OSXs.  What you are observing is different from what you may have experienced but normal.  If you see green, all is good.

  • Aperture and Lion using ALL my ram

Using Aperture on a Macbook Pro (2008) Intel Duo Core machine.
Worked great with Snow Leaport, but now with Lion, eats ALL of my ram in minutes.
Forget about using any plugin's or external editors, but Aperture itself takes it all.
I have 4GB total in the machine.
If I upgrade the ram to 8gb, will that solve the problem, or does the ram just continue to be sucked
up by Aperture unil it's all gone no matter how much I have in there?
    Thanks for any advice.

There is an entire thread on bugs in the Aperture/Lion combo here
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15996854#15996854
In a nutshell, Aperture is buggy under Lion. Net result is that it is not usable with 4 GB or less and maybe even 8 GB is not enough.

  • 1 SQL instances with several archive Databases using all AWE RAM memory of server

    Hello,
I just migrated my accounting system to a new SQL Server deployment of the software.
We just purchased the expensive SQL Server enterprise to accomodate.
I have some replicated databases to of lower priority that I put on the same instance that we occasionally query.  I also imported a 70GB old archive DB that we on very rare occasions.  We are not concerned about performance on these databases
as we are about the accounting DB on the same instance.
The MAX memory was set to unlimited on that instance.  As soon as I put in this monster 70GB archived databases the AWE memory usage used up my full 30GB of RAM.
Is there a way to set the memory usage so the archive databases do not get loaded into the AWE but still the critical accounting system DB on the same instance is taken care of?
Or do I have to shell out another $3-6k for a separate instance?  SQL Server Express has a 4GB limitation and one of the backup DB we don't really care about is 20GB replicated from Azure.

    Hi,
    >>70GB archived databases the AWE memory usage used up my full 30GB of RAM.
How did you checked that Archived database is using 30 G did you used sys.dm_os_buffer_descriptor.Do SQL server have locked pages in memory
SQL Server bring pages in memory if it is requested ,if you access Archived database heavily its bound to take memory but if yous top accessing it and access your other database SQL server will flush out pages of archive IF REQUIRED.
SQL server manages memory dynamically so I guess you do not need to worry
    >>s there a way to set the memory usage so the archive databases do not get loaded into the AWE but still the critical accounting system DB on the same instance is taken care of?
No ,there is no way buffer pool is shared region
