right i saw a lot of people that need help with this issue
well first of all there is the nokia 8800 sirocco Gold and the 8800 sirocco Gold Look, don,t be mistaken the second is not a fake it is acctualy a normal silver sirocco with a gold brush.
the firt one is 18k Gold not all gold but a small layer of gold over it.
how to spot a fake!
any IDIOT that still believes that a 8xxx serie still says made in finland, dont even reply on this post cause you got a fake sirocco.
if you have a real 8800 sirocco or 8600 luna they both will say made in GERMANY.
second, the Gold look sirocco is about 385 to 450 euros.
a realy gold edition is around 650 to 800 euro's
third, a real sirocco Gold will have a Gold certificate if it does not have that its either the Gold look or a complete Fake.
fourth, if there are no letter on the back of the phone dont, buy it,it has to say nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold right in the middle of the back, if not dont buy it.
LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT
on this nokia site you will see my nokia, click on it make a my nokia account.
in this account you can put in imei numbers in of your nokia phone, if you got the brains this is your key for checking any imei of any nokia phone.
you will get feedback about what phone you have. this is the only true way to verify if you got the real thing!

Nokia 8800 Sirocco - good or bad buy?

I'm thinking of entering into my first contract tomorrow and wanted an Nokia 8800 Sirocco
My friend works for a phone shop and can get me one on Orange.
Would anyone avoid it? I heard the battery life was terrible on the 8800, is it the same issue with the sirocco? Also, I have a N70 at the moment but don't use email, from reading the forum it appears people are having a lot of trouble with email? Is it something that goes wrong even if you don't use email?
Any advice would be very welcome

Ive read and heard from friends that the battery has been improved from the 8800 series although it is supplied with two batteries also.
I have the original 8800 and im very satisfied with it.
I dont use the camera and music,video and bluetooth functions which all add up to drain the battery.
I get 2-3 days from each battery.
The scricco has a better camera {which i dont use} and has the powersaver option cured. ie : it scrolls down the screen unlike the 8800 which does not which in time caused the lcd screen burn. It has also a better keypad, although im not sure about the thumb indentation on the slider..lol
My advice is go for it and you have been offered a decent contract too !!
I would try for a 12 month contract tho.
Some users have experienced difficulty when attempting to use the e mail function as it disappeared from the menu system when accessed. If you use e mail from your service provider then ask to try a demo fone to see what happens.
I dont use it myself as my provider gets enough money from me as it is..lol

I have a Sirocco phone which I got as an upgrade. Its version is the following :-

I recently got another Sirocco for my Sister, but the phone software looks different :-
Nokia 8800
V 04.10

(C) NMP.
Externally the phones are the same - Second phone is made in Finland, whilst the first one is made in Germany. Anyone knows more about this?

The V4.10 is a normal 8800 - not a Sirocco. v4.21 is very latest for a 8800 Sirocco

i visited the nokia 8800 sirocco experience website on nokia asia, there were downloadable wallpapers and screensavers for the computer there as well, now i click the links but they are blank, the links are dead, where can i find the wallpapers for my computer.

Try re booting by removing the battery for a few minutes.
Make sure the ports are clean of dust.
If needed take the handset into your nearest nokia service centre for a software/firmware update.

My Nokia 8800 Sirocco switch-off unexpectedly showing full battery, I have even replaced battery with a new one..

Updated to ios 6 and now when i go to the app store and try to check out my purchased it try to load the information but after about 20-25 seconds nothing loads and the app crashes. Im not sure if its because i have at least 600 apps in the cloud.

Not working Nokia 8800 sirocco

Dear Nokia owner's,
I hope that somebody out here can help me with my problem.
I own one sirocco in black and one in silver. Both are original, bought and made in germany. No doubt that they are original.
The black one, is turning one and than for some reason turning off after 2 min. A good repair shop or a official nokia could fix this problem for sure I guess.
My silver one is a little bit more problematic, I had it in my pocket durring one of thoose hurricane rain here in Miami, Florida and after that the display was just lighting on and off without showing something. It means that the phone is still working but the display or the connection to it might be the problem.
I need to know, where in the U.S or in the Miami area I can give or send it to somebody fix it!!!

On series 40 phones the only option you have is factory reset from the settings menu. If that fails to fix your problems then the only option you have is to visit a nokia care piont/service centre for a full reset. It's also worth getting them to update it's firmware.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco case, CP-104

Gents,
Wonder if any of you know where I can get hold of a Nokia CP-104 case for the Sirocco, I have a couple of the non-Sirocco edition phones and originally thought that the Siroccos were shipped with the same suede pouch but discovered recently that they have a nice leather looking case that I would like to use with my 8800s.

Interesting facts about Nokia Map Loader 1.3 and 1...

Hi there, I have done some interesting tests yesterday after upgrading the Map Loader to version 1.3. First, I tried to connect my N95-1 (v.20.0.015) with a microSD card (4 GB) to my PC with Nokia Map Loader 1.3 running. The software asks to update to 1.2.1, then it tells my Map data is incompatible. Nothing new with this. Well I went to my wifes PC (with Map Loader v. 1.2.1. running) and found out the older version too claims that map data is incompatible! Well, then I changed another microSD card (2 GB) into my N95, formatted it, opened the Maps software. Now the Map loader did work OK. I could download maps and voices. I then changed my original microSD card (4 GB) back, and then deleted (with winXP resource manager) the folders "cities" and hidden "private" completely. After this the Map Loader (1.2.1) did work all right with this 4 GB microSD card. I downloaded the maps and voices I needed and now the N95 works fine. OK now, I have some more info on this topic now.
Firstly after having tried to open MapLoader 1.3 and getting the "uncompatible" message, you do not have to format the SD card.
Only delete the hidden "private" folder and the folder "cities". Then you go and delete the qf file from the root directory of the SD card too.
What is new is that I did this 3 days ago and then downloaded the maps with older MapLoader (1.2.1).
Now, yesterday I deleted folders and qf file again and found out that the new MapLoader (1.3) works too.
It even asks to update the maps before opening.
I did download the maps of the Europe with both versions 1.2.1 and 1.3.
But it was interesting to find out that Europe maps downloaded with 1.2.1 were 1,525 MB, but the maps downloaded with 1.3 were over 1,600 MB. So with new version you get more recent maps.

Why do some birthdays show up with the description " 's Birthday", instead of showing the name? About 25% show up this way, and the rest show up just fine?

When I enter birth dates for my contacts on iCloud, about 20% of them show up on the iCalendar "as 's Birthday " (without the name of the person), but the rest show up just as they should (i.e., "Ron's Birthday")...I've checked and re-checked the way the data is entered in the Contacts folder, but still get this discrepancy. It only happens when I open iCalendar on my PC...when I view the iCalendar on my iPhone, everything reads just fine. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Right, I just thought of this so that podcasts DON'T SHOW UP in artists or albums on your iPod (althought it does show up on songs and genres, but if you've got it so it skips podcasts then it won't matter...).
What you do is:
Go onto Podcasts in iTunes. Then go on View on the top toolbar and scroll down to View Options...
Then select it so artist and album show up. Then delete whatevers there, so that the only info on the podcast is just the podcast name and its length.
JOB DONE!

Nokia 8800 Sirocco shuts down when video plays

I have the Sirocco and when i play videos the phone just reboots itself? It can play for a bit but the sound is **bleep**y? The same video will work perfectly in any other old cheap phone. If anyone knows how i can sought this out please let me know? Thanks in advance :-)

I have tried 3 different Siroccos and they are all like this.
There is 'free play' before the key movement. Its very annoying especially on keys near the bottom of the keyboard.
I don't think its repairable, its just a bad design. The old 8800 keypad was better in this respect.

Help Nokia 8800 sirocco boot problem

I swich on my 4 days old phone and it stop at the NOKIA screen. I can't switch anything, I can't swich off, only if I put off the battery.
The last operate was a call when I was not able to put on the phone.
Please help, what can I do?

Question about "proper" way to relocate originals and the library

I have been using Aperture for about 2 years or so (since switching from PC/Lightroom to Mac).
What my "storage" proceedure is I will import the photos from a memory card to a new project. After deciding which photos to keep, I will move them to a project I named "Recent Photos". There I will work on them, decide what to print/email/etc.
When that "Recent Photos" project gets too many shots (and because my Aperture Library is on my main (internal) iMac drive and my referenced files are on an external drive) I will tell Aperture to "Relocate the Masters" to the appropriate folder on the external drive (say "Family Shots" or "New York City"). I will then drag the previews to the corresponding project in my Library screen (generally the same name as the actual folder on the external drive).
Now the problem will occur: When moving a group of shots, sometimes not all the selected photo previews will be moved properly. The "original" preview will still be in the Recent Shots project and another preview will be in the project where I tried to drag the preview. But the one in the new location will not look proper - the color will be off, sometimes the photo will look distorted if it was cropped - and if I click on the odd preview the larger view will also look odd. I can sometimes correct the preview and full view by playing around with the "revert to original" or "reprocess the original" or deleting and restoring the previews.
What I want to know is what am I doing wrong to cause this? (And yes, I have tried rebuilding/repairing the library several times.)
