Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

due to the virus attack i had to format my windows laptop...now when i installed new itunes software i had to sync my ipod touch again but it says that if i do it then the data present on my ipod touch will be erased as it is syncd to some older library... how should i protect my ipod touch data?

With all you media (apps, music) in the iTunes library connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore the iPod from that backup.
Note the the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • HT201210 I installed latest iTunes software on my Windows 7 PC, and now I keep getting error messages. Mainly one stating that MSVCR80.dll is missing. Where do I get this file from?

I installed the latest iTunes software on my Dell Windows 7 PC. Durring installation, when it got to the "Starting Services" part, I got an error message:
    iTunes
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Devices) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services.
    Abort    Retry   Ignore
    "Ignore" was highlighted.
I tried "Retry" but same message kept coming up, so I tried "Ignore"
Install completed. But when I tried to start iTunes, I got message:
    "iTunes.exe
The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
    Followed by the message:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)."
I have tried the install procedure (after uninstalling iTunes) several times with the same results. Where do I get the file MSVCR80.dll? How do I get past this?

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Updated to new itunes software and now it won't stop auto-restarting

Ok, I thought that the problems with version10 software had been fixed, so I went ahead and allowed it to upgrade itself to version 10.5.2.11, Windows7 64-bit version.  And, unfortunately, I see that the problems with version10 have not been resolved.
My particular problem is that the itunes constant auto-starts.  With or without my device connected.  The software on my PC just starts up.  If I don't use it at all from when my computer first boots up, then it stays quiet.  But once it has been ran by actually running the program or plugging in a device, you cannot get rid of it.  If you exit the software, it just starts up again a couple seconds later.  You literally have to go into the task manager and shut down the process tree to get it to stop.
I have done a full reset on my iPod, before I realized it would do it without any device connected.
    I repaired the iTunes installation.
I removed & reinstalled the iTunes installation.
Nothing makes any difference at all.  No settings, nothing.
Any suggestions or does a fix already exist for this?
    thanks

Only thing i suggest as i had similar issues is to restore the phone! using itunes and then continue as a new install and not as a back from..
Or forget the network and search again!

  • Error message when I try to download new iTunes as follows iPhoto 7.1.5 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store

I am trying to download new version of iTunes from App store having purchased it on my laptop.  When I try to download on my iMac I get the following message:
Error message when I try to download new iTunes as follows:  iPhoto 7.1.5 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store - and then I am asked if I want to buy it again. I don't understand the error message and I don't want to purchase the new version again.
Also, since upgrading to Lion my videos (from Sanyo Xacti camera) do not play on iTunes. I can only open photos.
    Thank you.

Make a back up of your Library. Now you can update without fear.

  • I just installed the new itunes software update and it completely whiped my computer and have lost all my files? can some one expalin to me what happened and how do i undo it?

Can someone please help me! I installed the new itunes software onto my computer it shut down then when i tried to log back into my computer all of my documents and everything was gone! the only thing remaining was my recycle bin. but my documents etc are gone!
I tried to uninstall the software but it still hasnt made a difference! Has anyone had the same issue and if so how do I fix it? I need all my documents back!!

Installing an iTunes update does not remove your media or personal files.
Are the files actually missing off the computer, if so, you have a serious computer issue... not a software update issue.
Regardless, use the backup of your media and other important files to put everything back.  You do have a backup, correct?

  • HT2404 i click on software update and it says no updates. when i try to update new itunes it tells me i need to update mac os x

I currently have mac os x version 10.5.8  when i click on software update it tells me no updates.  when i try to download new itunes it says i need an update

If you have a PowerPC iMac, give up.
If you have an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order Mac OS X 10.6 on DVD.

I can't Start, Uninstall of Install new iTunes. I'm getting the same error message: "Window Installer Service could not be accessed". No other programs having similar problem. Any suggestions how to fix it?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Okay. Let's try removing your existing QuickTime by other means than the "Uninstall a program" control panel.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover QuickTime program files:
    (1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files folder.
    (3) Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (4) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (5) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
    (6) Restart your computer.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly now?

What is "it" and what is "windows"?

    or

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Or better yet... try a search, I'm certain you'll find a solution to whatever issue you're experiencing.
I have found that many times it is the things that make you most angry that push you to action. This was the case here. Thank you for causing me to get so angry that I found the answer myself.
