My mac says i don't have permission to upgrade my software

I am currently using Mac OS X version 10.7.2 and when i click software update it says i do not have permission to do it. I have tred going to dik utility and clicking on repair disk permission but it still wont let me! I am also the only administrater. Any ideas on have to sort this out would be much appreciated???

I really appreciate all your help. Today I spent some time on the problem. First I purchased any video converter from the ap store and then I connected the camera to the mac with the original usb cable that came with the camera. I turned on the camera and selected backup on pc and the logo came up on my home page. I opened it and after several attempts i found the 3 video files that were on the camera. I then converted them from a tod file to mp4 and then transfered them to imovie. Now I have to figure out how to send the video to youtube or move it to an external hard drive which I have not been able to do. So far I am not too fond of imovie 11. If you could send me the download for imovie 6 I then could try that route. When talking to apple support yesterday about the problem they suggested to get Final Cut Express. So, then, after you click the Install button you receive the permissions error dialog? Again, are you logged into an Admin account?
Have you tried:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Also, please check the settings on your startup drive. Select it. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window, then open the bottom-most panel and check the settings. They should look like this:

Contact your carrier & have them reset your Voicemail. Most carriers require such, so after they reset it, just set it up again.

The app you are trying to download my be a zipped file and more space than 1.3GB. go to settings/general/usage and delete what you no longer want to make more space

If this is an App Store issue, contact http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
You can try repair permissions with Disk Utility.
Also make sure your hard drive isn't over 85% full after a full installation of Cubase Elements looking up its system requirements.

That is hard to say, as we do not know what you keep on your hard drive.
To free space
empty the trash, both on your Desktop and the Aperture Trash,
Delete files and folders you do not need
Move files to an external volume.
There are utilities that let you find large files, like Omni Disk Sweeper, but that is not a free application.

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are getting a message when trying to backup to iCloud. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

You'll have to delete more data from the device.
Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device. (Ignore storage on icloud, since that is not part of the equation.)

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.
