Trying 2 purchase iTunes TV shows & it says we need 2 upgrade everything!

Our config:
10.4 OS X (intel)
Itunes 8.2.1 (6)
Safari 3.0.4.
We are trying to purchase TV shows in iTunes - it says we need to upgrade to iTunes9
We upgrade to iTunes9 - then it says we need to upgrade Safari to 4
We try to upgrade to Safari4 - then it says we need Mac OS 10.5
Mac 10.5 is chargeable product! $199 for the Mac Box !!
Like - *** !
All we want to do is pay and download a tv show in iTunes from Apple ..... and now they are seemingly screwing us for an OS upgrade just to do this !!
Even when I uninstall iTunes9 .... and reinstall iTunes8 .... yes iTunes works, but I still can't download anything!
Is there a way around this craziness?

Hi Jodie,
Go here and check the Tiger button, uncheck the Keep me up to date box, no need to fill in the eMail Addy, click Download, install it when complete.

The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

New iPod Touch devices require a minimum of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 in addition to a fairly recent version of iTunes. If you are running Tiger (10.4) or earlier, you can't just update to Leopard for free; you have to buy it.

thanks Razmee...I wasnt aware of this. For some reason I thought it was all backed up in itunes and sitting somewhere in the cloud, not on a hard drive. Should spend more time looking into this things....how have people time for this? I mean, I dont even have time to go to the shops and pick up my 4S upgrade!!

If they show up in the iTunes store for your ME country, you can.
If all you see is itunes applications, then you can't.
There are other topics around here that go into more detail, but each content rights holder signs agreements with Apple for distribution rights within each country , and apparently that takes a while.

You have a 2G iPod. That App requires at least a 3G iPod..

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

The iOS version is not updated automatically, though if he connects it to his computer's iTunes (if it's a recent enough version) he should be prompted as to whether he wants to update.
He should connect the iPad to his computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to his computer via File > Transfer Purchases. He may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. He can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
He can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Using those instructions you may also be able to select PayPal if that is allowed in your country.

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...
