Trying a new VPN Server(BTGUARD)--Cannot configure with airport---HELP!!

I am trying to configure my airport with BTguard and a VPN server.  I see there may be ports and stuff you have to open.  Help please.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that for me. You are correct. Your iOS devices will NOT be able to administer the 802.11g base stations because the version of the AirPort Utility that they use is incompatible.
For Windows XP, AirPort Utility for Windows v5.5.3 should work. However, v5.4.2 that you have should work as well.
Your XP computer needs to connect to the AirPort's wireless network BEFORE you can access the AirPort with the AirPort Utility. You may want to try connecting your computer directly to the AirPort using an Ethernet cable.

  • Cannot configure my AirPort Express (1st generation) anymore. Am using AirPort Utility 5.4.2 Setup Assistant. What do I do wrong?

I cannot configure my AirPort Express (1st generation) as base Station anymore. I had to reset it because I lost my password.
I first tried my IPads (IOS 6). These returned the message: Your AirPort Express cannot be configured with this software. Go to apple.com/nl/support/airport for more information.
As it is an old one, I have downloaded the eldest available AirPort Utility I could find on the Apple site (AirPort utility 5.4.2) to my computer. I ran the AirPort Setup Assistant wireless and the assistant found my AirPort named " Apple Network XXXXX". (I notes that the Assistant also returned the message: If this is not the AirPort Extreme you want to set up ...)
    I clicked <NEXT>
After trying to connect to Network, I received the message: Cannot connect to network or there are no AirPort base stations on the network.
To be sure I retried running the Assistant after connecting the computer and the AirPort using an ethernet cable. The error message was the same.
    What do I do wrong?
Am I using the wrong Utility software? If so, which version do I have to download and from where?
Is a first generation AirPort anyhow compatible wth 4the generation IPads or shoud I just buy a new AirPort.
I hope someone can help me...

  • I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

Hello. First time using this. Still trying to figure out how to post my questions. I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

If you are using cable and a Nethear router sounds like from the information you provide before your Airport setting are setup improperly. PPoE is not something a cable service would need to work. Fallow the steps I will provide bellow, I will add some screen shots also to assist if necessary.
1 - Open System Preferences from  (Menu)
    2 - Click "Network"
3 - From the Network window you are going to wanna make sure Location is : Automatic and Show is : Airport
4 - Once the Show: Airport is select you should see a window like this, my window is selected for Ethernet simply because I am no longer running Tiger but the window will look the same.
5 - You will want to click on the PPPoE tab and you should see this
6 - You're gonna wanna make sure " connection using PPPoE " is not select, if it is make sure to uncheck this option
7 - Once this is uncheck make sure to click "Apply Now"
8 - You will want to click back on to the "TCP/IP" tab and make sure IPv4 is set to " Using DHCP "
9 - If the option to " Apply Now" is available again please click this
10 - Once this is done go to your Aiport Menu and see if your network is listed and select your network and eneter the password if necessary.
11 - If after these steps you still have issues I would recommend Power Cylcing your Router and Modem for about 5 minutes
12 - Make sure all lights are off when unplugging the Router and the Modem
13 - Some Modems have backup batterys so you may have to push in a tiny button on the back with a pin

  • OS X Server / VPN /The L2TP-VPN server did not respond...HELP!

    I am very new to OS X Server and my goal is to setup DNS & VPN!  I would like to have this setup to be able to connect into my apple computer from work or friends house.  I am using an Apple Airport Extreme router and im also using the latest version OS X Mountain Lion with OS X Server installed.  I have started an account with dyndns website for user host name (using a [email protected] address). I assume this would be used as an alternate way of being able to connect without starting a personal website.  I also signed up for another site (no-ip) and I now have a different IP address (not sure if that was necessary). I then followed instructions on youtube (instructional videos by todd for OS X Server Mountain Lion) which seemed to be very easy to understand. But after setting up my VPN on the client side (network setting in system preferences), i tried to connect VPN (L2TP) and i receive this error message "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator.". When I open Consol in the utilities folder, I am seeing part of the following message below;
racoon[117]: IKE Packet: transmit success. (Phase1 Retransmit).
racoon[117]: IKE Packet: receive failed. (malformed or unexpected cookie).
    pppd[490]: IPSec connection failed
Does anyone know what's happening or what I need to do to fix this?  Or can someone tell me the basic requirements to setting things up correctly?

Im using Comcast for my ISP and from the wall I have a Motorola Surfboard 6120 cable modem (not sure how to access my setting on the modem). So basically I have my 6120 cable modem connected to the Apple AirportExtreme router and is then wirelessly connected to my macbook pro.  im providing screen shots of my apple router settings, OS X Server settings and firewall (which is turned off) settings.  Any suggestion on how i should set things up or if you can tell me step by step would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot configure the Airport Express

I connected my Airport Express to my router (not an Extreme Base station). I got the solid green light, I can see the network wirelessly and I can access the internet with no problems.
The problem is that I cannot access the Airport Express in order to configure it (I want to add some filtering and some additional security). The Setup Assistant is searching for an Extreme Base Station which it cannot find (since I do not have one) and so does the Airport Admin util.
Is there a way (or perhaps a different configuration utility for Win XP) to configure the Airport Express?
    Thx
      Windows XP

Thanks for the help. I was out of the country for a few weeks but now I am back trying to resolve the problem. Nothing helps, the Airport Express "insists" on the fact that it cannot find a base Station. I am not sure what else is there to do and I am closed to go back to my old 802.11b D-Link wireless router. Do you have any other idea that may resolve the problem?
On another note, why does there have to be any connection between the Airport Express and any base station? Why can’t I configure the Airport Express without being connected to any basestation?

  • New VM Server - Very Slow Performance with QuickBooks

    Hello all,
    Oh the dreaded performance issues!
Okay we currently have a virtual server hosted with a different company - it has two VPU's and 8GB RAM.  The contract is about to expire so we're switching to a Microsoft Azure VM.  This server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 - main purpose is
to host QuickBooks Enterprise v15 - with 10 users connecting via RemoteApp and/or RD.
So for the new Azure server we selected the A3 (4 cores/7GB RAM) option - running Windows Server 2008 R2 - I know old O/S - but still need for now.  We also attached a new 250GB disk for additional storage of data/programs.  The test users noticed
performance issues right away so we temporarily upgraded it to the A4 option (8 cores/14GB RAM) and although it is better there are still performance issues.  For example to run a statement report in QuickBooks - viewing both connections side-by-side
    - it is 2x faster on the current "live" server we have hosted with the current hosting provider.  On the Azure VM we also tested installing QuickBooks on the C:\ drive and then on the attached 250GB disk - the F:\ drive - same performance results
    on both.
This is a new VM...fresh install....just so strange why it would be slower than the 8GB server.
Does anyone have any ideas on where we can start to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks so much!

I understand the performance seen by end users are low. However, do you know what is really wrong? Do you see Azure VM using almost 80% of CPU & RAM, if not adding more RAM & CPU may not really help you.
    - How is the CPU usage of your on-premise node vs Azure VM
    - How is the memory usage of your on-premise node vs Azure VM
Do you have any specific characteristics for Disk IO requirement? Can you check IOPS on on-premise vs Azure?

  • Cannot Ichat with Airport Express

    Hi all,
Having installed Leopard on our Imac G5 we could no longer do ichat, we also had a new router a Speedtouch ST536 v6. We solved the problem with the help of the helpline at speedtouch, they got me to set up a PPPoE account and that enabled us to do ichat with family in the UK. What we really want is a wireless connection so we then installed an airport card and installed airport express. We can happily connect to the internet and email but again we cannot video ichat (we can text). I have spoken to apple and to speedtouch neither will accept responsibility for our problem. If the modem is the problem then can someone just tell me or does anyone, I don't fully understand what a PPPoE connection is and why this works but Airport Express does. I am desperate to be wireless and use ichat, HOW CAN THIS BE ACHEIVED. Any help gratefully receibed, I am so frustrated with the whole thing!!!!

If it's not already, the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) should be configured as a "bridge."
To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a "bridge," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort > Wireless tab
o Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
    o Network Name: <leave the default>
    o Radio Mode: 802.11b/g compatible
    o Channel: Automatic
    Internet > Internet Connection
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
o Ethernet WAN Port: Automatic (Default)
o Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode)

  • New Mac User, College Student, Helpless with Airport

Okay, so I bought airport assuming I would be able to create a wireless network in my dorm. But Airport in not recognizing my internet connection on campus and I am having trouble connecting to the internet. if i plug the ethernet cable in my ibook, the internet works fine, but it won't work with airport. I am trying everything with the assistant, and nothing works. HELP!

Most campus networks require you to register the hardware ethernet address of devices cabled to the network before full access is granted. Check with your network admins - find out how one goes about adding a router on the campus network. If they want to know the hardware ethernet (also called the MAC address) of the Airport Express, you will find it printed on a sticker found on the side of the Airport Express.
One thing that may get you running wirelessly for now - connect to the Airport Express's wireless network (from the Airport menu of your Mac) and run the Airport Admin Utility. Click on the name of your Express, click the Configure button, click on the Network tab, uncheck the box to "Distribute IP addresses", and update settings to the Airport Express. Then restart your Mac, reconnect to the Airport Express wireless network - and you should now be able to connect to the campus network. However - you likely won't be able to print or stream iTunes to the Express if you use this workaround.

  • Trying to set up wireless network on PC with Airport Express

I'm helping a friend set up his network with AirPort Express. He's got a modem attached to his PC, and currently has a router that sends a wireless signal to a receiver on the PC in the other room. Now he's added a Mac, and the old router/receiver doesn't work with Mac. So he bought an Airport Express.
I've turned on the Airport, and first I connected the ethernet cable from the modem to the AirPort. Per the AirPort utility I put on the PC, it couldn't find it (got the flashing amber light). So then I took out that ethernet, and I hooked up the ethernet directly from the CPU to the AirPort. Suddenly, it was found, and it took me step by step through the set up. It asked for password info from our internet provider (??why would I have that info??), so we just hit "enter". Then it couldn't set up the network, and said to check the "manage network settings". I've tried everything. Not only can I NOT manage to create a network, but now NEITHER ethernet cable will cause any recognition in the AirPort. All I get is the blinking amber light. I'm about to throw all the computers out the window...it really should not be this difficult. I've set up networks in my own home, before, with both PC and Mac, and never had these problems. So, now, I've had to relink up the old router/receiver in order to send out this call for help. Can anyone suggest anything else to try before I use these computers for target practice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jennifer
P.S. The main PC w/modem is on Vista with service pack 2.0...since I can't even get that one working with AirPort, I hardly think it matters what the other computers are...

I had some initial problems too. Make sure that you have the latest Airport Utility in the utilities folder. I used that to correct the problems I had when I first got Time Machine. I recommend resetting everything through there to get it working right.
Mine is not set up to run an n network because my macs are all g and b compatible. Does the airport utility see the time machine? And if so, does it have a green light in the utility?

Please review the KM note: Upgrade to Oracle VM 3.1.1 using Yum Repository may cause network configuration scripts to be renamed causing network failure after reboot (Doc ID 1464126.1)
    https://support.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1464126.1
    Workaround
To prevent this problem, disable 'kudzu' before upgrading Oracle VM 3.0.x to 3.1.1. On each Oracle VM 3.0.x server (dom0), type the following command to disable 'kudzu' at all run levels:
    # chkconfig kudzu off
To verify that kudzu is disabled:
    # chkconfig --list | grep kudzu
If the system has been upgraded with 'kudzu' in place, re-name the ifcfg-ethx.bak files to ifcfg-ethx and restart the network (or reboot) to workaround the issue.
    Patches
    Fix:
A fix has been added to the ovs-release package to obsolete kudzu during yum update. Be sure to download the latest patches from Oracle Unbreakable Linux Network (https://linux.oracle.com) and add the Oracle VM 3.1.1 Server Patches channel to the Yum Repository before you perform server upgrade from 3.0.x to 3.1.1. Then the above mentioned workaround is not needed.

  • Downloaded new iOS5 and now cannot receive texts. Help?

Since I downloaded the new iOS5 I can send text messages but cannot receive them from anyone. Also, iMessages keeps saying "trying to verify" even though I verified my email address hours ago. It will still not verify and work. Help please.
    Jill

I'm having the same problem. Other people who have os5 can still text to and from others while sitting right next to me, so it's not an iOS5 problem, nor is it a compatibility problem. it's something with my 4s and setup.apparently.
In messaging, the only difference between my setup and theirs is that i was receiving messages both my phone number and my apple id email (which i haven't). I've stopped receiving messages at the apple id now, but that still isn't working. I also deleted my icloud and apple id account from the phone also, and that didn't work either.
    This is crazy frustrating.

  • Do we need an External Content Server to be configured with OLM

Would like to know if an external content server is mandatory for Oracle OLM on R12.
I have read notes that Content Servers cannot be hosted on the middle tier of Ebiz but have also been told from other sources
that it can be hosted but has some limitations interms of file types supported.
Would like to know if the above is true and if so what are the limitations

    Hi Muthu,
An external content server is not mandatory for OLM rel. 12.
You can use an OLM content server, an external content server or any other server that can serve up the content based on URL's.
Oracle does not support an OLM Content Server being hosted on the eBiz middle tier, even if it has been seen to be working in some installations.

  • New vcenter server but keeping database with nexus 1000v

I have been reading through all the details of migrating to new hardware for the vcenter server with the nexus 1000v.  i wish to avoid doing the vswitch thing.  If I am keeping the same database but just moving to new hardware and possibly new ip address I was hoping to be able to do something along the lines of.
    Leave everything as is,
Reinstall vcenter on new server and point to existing database.
    reconnect the esx hosts
    disconnect the VSM
get the xml from the vsm
    install on vcenter server
reconnect the VSM to the new server
    all should be good.
From my reading it appears as tho most of the issues are around connecting to a fresh database.
Is there anything wrong with my assumptions??
    Regards Justin

I have done this before but I always keep the same name an IP so that I don't have to reconnect each ESXi host and my vSphere Client users don't have to use a different name.
What I do in this scenario is build the new server with a temp name/IP.
Backup the vCenter DB and SSL certs (this is very important).
    Power down the old vCenter.
Re-IP/Re-Name the new to match the old.
Copy the SSL certs to the proper location (C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\SSL)
Create your DSN and install vCenter using the old DB. The DB will be upgraded.
Your hosts will automatically connect to the new server.
