Trying out Contact Sheet in Lightroom 4.1

I've worked through a catalog and intend to save the files to a disk for archiving. I want to include a contact sheet that has both the file name and the associated keywords listed on the page. I did a 4 x 5 contact sheet. I arranged everything and then saved it as a template.
But when I choose the template for the next set of pages I find that the keywords are missing. If I click on "Keep Square" in the Layout, the Keywords return. But if I then save that as a new template the keywords are missing again.
Am I missing something?

  • Exporting Contact Sheets from Lightroom

Is it possible to export a contact sheet from lightroom for printing?
Or does it have to be printed directly from Lightroom

Or check out Jao's Photo Blog for how to do it to a JPEG. Google it, you'll find it.

  • PS CS3 random errors with Lightroom folder when making contact sheets

When I make contact sheets in Photoshop CS3 of photo files in a folder of images exported from Lightrom Beta 2, it places some of the pictures randomly across the contact sheets, especially when I have more than 60 or more images. The first shot will always show at the end of the set of proofs 5 across, 6 rows down, but some images from the end of atake will end up scattered across the other sheets. If I make a set of contact sheets from images in a folder of the original images, not worked on in Lightroom, they come up perfectly. What can I do to fix this? I had it working OK in Lightroom Beta 1. I'm Working in PC XPSP3. A thousand thanks in advance. Cliff Moore

First, LR3 final has been released.
This doesn't seem to be a problem of LR, rather Photoshop.
Why don't you make the contact sheet in Lightroom?
Why do you think the order is incorrect. Did you check the file names? I guess the order depends on this.

  • Contact Sheet II setup page is missing layout information.

Where has the layout data gone in the Contact Sheet set up page?  Is Photoshop trying to get rid of all useful tools throughout CS6?

    Pete:
Below is the screen that I get initiating “Contact Sheet II.”  I’m using Windows 7.  In the area below below the “Reset” button it says, “Press the ESC key.....” it’s missing the information on total photos, number of pages, W: and H: information.  I’ve always considered this information vital in laying out contact sheets.
On the second printed screen I’m running Windows Vista and Photoshop CS5.  You should be able to see the difference.  There is no “Load, Save and Reset” buttons.
Thank you for the opportunity to supply this information.  If you have further questions please feel free to contact me.

  • Contact sheet templates

Just making my first contact sheet with lightroom and I have no preloaded templates like all the tutorials show.
If someone could tell me where to find them that would be great.

Ok, that answers that. Thanks for the quick reply.
Would like to see it as a feature in upcoming versions though.

  • Contact sheets with file names. How?

Looks like I can only print out contact sheets without file names. How come?

Because you didn't look hard enough. Make sure you check "Photo Info" and the click on the popup next to it and select filename or setup a custom text in Edit..

  • Iphoto Contact Sheet seems to not be WISYWIG

    Hi,
From iPhoto I am trying to print a contact sheet which is set 3 columns wide.
All seems file when in iPhoto. I can set the photos I want, and remove the titles. Everything seems fine.
However the A4 sheet I have in my iPhoto Print project gets reduced when I print it. The effect is to have the photos on a much reduced scale in the middle of the page.
If I print to PDF then I get the same effect.
My printer is a Cannon iP4500 but I don't think it is at fault.
    Any help gratefully appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just tried a contact sheet on A4 and saving to pdf. It appears correct. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
If that doesn't fix the situation, check the preset you're using, if any to make sure none of the advanced printer settings in Paper Handling might be set to reduce the size of what's printed. There's one setting, scale to fit paper that you might check. It will scale up the layout to fill the page the best possible.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How can I save my contact sheets in Photoshop Lightroom?

How can I save my contact sheets in Photoshop Lightroom? I see that you create the sheets under the Print tab but how can I save them as jpgs to my desktop?

    Kittie,
I use this workflow and it works really well for me; it's really strange that it
    i did
work for you and now it doesn't.
I had a quick dabble and
    i may
have an explanation. If I read your error message it looks like "New Folder" is trying to create a folder ~kittie/Desktop/3 Working/Contact Pages. However, the automator "create folder" won't create folders recursively like that - it will only work if "3 Working" already exists. Certainly I was able to reproduce the 'quick flash error message and bomb out with no results' effect by asking it to produce a directory from one that didn't already exist. When I added two Finder actions it didn't work as I expected - producing 74 files in subdirectories that just looped round and round when I expected one file and one directory.
I added a shell script that renames the files too and it all works just dandy for me. If you let me know your e-mail I'll post the automator "app" file and shell script I use. It gives you sensibly named files instead of the sdkjfdfadkljfb.jpeg thing that comes out of automator.

  • LIghtroom And Contact Sheets...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Hello, I am in dire need of help (deadlines! ahhhhh!).
So we have been using lightroom for a couple of months now.
I work as an assistant at a professional studio which does weddings and some private family jobs.
We work on power macs which both have enough power to plan a trip to the moon.
We print on a Canon IPF 5100 and a 5000. Matte Epson 3* paper.
Each wedding is generally 5-7 Sets with 400-600 .NEF images each.
So heres the problem. Contact Sheet Resolution!
We never really had too much trouble with contact sheets, and only recently has it been noticed. Our images are printing so blurry it is hard to tell if eyes are open ect.
We had been printing on draft mode until now. I understand draft mode doesn't produce a fine image, but it seems they were never this bad.
So I tried turning draft mode off. It took hours to process every image (render it down/quality) and then it just wouldn't send it to the printer (at this point I want to throw a brick through my screen).
So my options with LR at this point are complete crap and a few wasted hours with no result.
I have gone back to CS3...A program which makes LR look like MS Paint...
The only problem is this is pretty time consuming and not very flexible.
So Please For all the is worthy on this earth...How can I use LR in a productive way???
    How do you Print C.S's?
    Do you share this problem??
    Much thanks.
    -A Stressed Out Employee.

Hi, I recently upgraded to LR2 (after having used LR1.4). When making contact sheets (3 across and 3 down) I notice that the quality of the outputted PDF file is terrible (I never recall it being this bad with LR1.4; in fact, I recall being able to zoom into the contact sheet quite far and still see decent resulotion). I have fiddled with the Print settings, tried printing in both draft and otherwise (which can take forever). I have tried re-importing the files and rendering both standard previews and 1:1 previews, but nothing seems to have corrected the problem I am having.
    A few interesting points:
    - Using the same photos and contact sheet configuration, the actual size of a contact sheet created in LR1.4 vs. LR2 is different (the LR1.4 contact sheet was actually a larger file). This would explain why I recall better resolution from the LR1.4 sheets I used to create.
    - In LR2, I notice that the portrait photos on contact sheets are lower quality than the landscape photos. I understand that they are actually larger on the sheet (so it might make sense at first look), but even when zoomed into, the landscape photos retain higher quality longer. I don't recall this happening with LR1.4.
Am I doing something wrong with the creation of my contact sheets or is there a setting that I am missing? Any input would be appreciated.
    Thank you, Scott

  • Lightroom 2.2 crashes when creating PDF contact sheet

I'm trying to create a PDF contact sheet for a client urgently. Contact sheet is 10 pages, 6 columns by 5 rows. Printing at 240 dpi with PDF set to JPG medium. System is windows XP with 3GB RAM & 1GB Video RAM. Most of the shots have had some kind of Lightroom brush adjustment, mainly selective sharpening or selective exposure.
First page always seems to print out fine. Second page will not print, even if if I try to print just that page.
Layout is set to show file names and page numbers, print sharpening is off.

That's the LR 2.2 memory bug. Upgrade it to 2.3 (see top of forum)

  • Contact sheet pdf in lightroom

I was recently shown how to create contact sheet pdf's in Lightroom 4 which could be emailed to clients onto which they could comment and return. All this without the need for more software or so i thought. I cannot seem to make it work. What software is needed and what do I need to do?  Many thanks.

I found this a little awkward but to do this I first had to change the Print Settings dialog, selecting the "Save as Adobe PDF" option depicted here. Nothing appears to happen at this point but then when you next Print your contact sheet will be wherever you selected in "Save as Adobe PDF". Just thought I'd add this in case anyone else has trouble as I did tonight. It's likely you've all figured it out by now AND are using a diff version of LR, as am I (5.7 for Mac).

  • Trying to create a contact sheet for passport photos....HELP!

Aperture 3 and iMac are both new to me and after a lot of research, I finally figured out how to make a contact sheet for my passport photo so that I don't have to pay 10.00 for a measly 2x2 photo at Walgreen's. I went to file>print>selected the 8x10 borderless size and adjusted the picture so that I would be able to print 20 2x2 photos on one sheet. PERFECT....but....I don't really want to print it myself ( I don't have any photo paper right now )...I want to SAVE the image I created and upload it to Walgreen's so that they can print it. Then, I will cut out the 2x2 photo that I need. The only problem right now is that I cannot figure out how to SAVE the image to my computer, either in iPhoto or Aperture 3. If anyone knows, can you please help me out with this. OR if there is another way to create the image in another area of Aperture 3 I would like to know how!
Thanks for any help you can provide

Once in print after you have the layout you want select the Print button. This will bring up the  system print window (not actually print the image yet).
At the bottom of the new window is a button PDF select that. From that pulldown you can elect to save the print image as a pdf or better yet for your need you can save  as a JPG (or TIFF)
Once you have it saved as a JPG you can upload to Walgreen;s

  • I have several issues that I hope you can help me out with. I am a professional photographer with a Mac with OS X 10.9.4: - I can only make ONE contact sheet in CS6 (from AUTOMATE) from pictures indicated in Bridge. If I want to make another contact sheet

I have several issues that I hope you can help me out with. I am a professional photographer with a Mac with OS X 10.9.4:
    - I can only make ONE contact sheet in CS6 (from AUTOMATE) from pictures indicated in Bridge. If I want to make another contact sheet I need to shut down and restart CS6.
    - Camera RAW: if I change any setting in Camera RAW (except exposure), having first optimized the exposure, the exposure will automatically return to zero. Sometimes when I've set exposure and cropped the picture in Camera RAW Plug-In, the effects are lost just by opening the picture in CS6.
    - Sometimes if I crop a picture in Camera RAW, it may be impossible to open it again from Bridge!
    - I cannot do lens corrections in Camera RAW, at all. The Camera RAW comment is that "it cannot load the correct lens type". Why?

Are you writing that when you select  a large number of images in the bridge  like a hundred thumbnails  when you then use Bridge menu Tools>Photoshop>Contact Sheet II that Photoshop only produces a single contact sheet for the first few thumbnails and fails to produce additional contact sheets for the other selected thumbnails? Photoshop contact sheet II script should create as many contact sheet as needed  for the numbers of thumbnails selected.  Perhaps the script is hung or you have exhausted  your machine resources.
ACR Crop tool does not crop the RAW file it records crop settings to be used during the conversion process.    Camera RAW DATA is not altered.  The only changes made to RAW Files is ACR Metadata may be added.  Anything you do in ACR can be un-done in ACR.    If you can not open a RAW File in ACR the Files is either corrupt or from a new camera ACR does not support yet.  ACR should not corrupt RAW files.
If you do not have a lens profile for ACR I think you should still be able to do lens correction manually in ACR.
Some of what you write I don't follow could you post some screen captures of your problems often a picture helps.

  • Lightroom 5.4 and Acrobat XI Pro - print contact sheet to PDF not working

Since upgrading to Lightoom 5 and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I have been unable to print a contact sheet to PDF. Although it goes through the motions of rendering and providing a "save as" dialog box, nothing is produced. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. The following are my system specs. This feature has worked in the past but since upgrading from LR4 to LR5, this feature has stopped working. I can print to a printer, but not to a PDF.
    HP Z800 Workstation
    Duel Intel Xeon X5670 @ 2.93GHz Processors
    18 GB RAM
    Windows 7 Professional
    Lightroom 5.4
    Acrobat XI Pro (Version 11.0.06.70)
It will go through the motions, as if it is creating the PDF, but it doesn't output anything. I've restarted Lightroom and rebooted my system, but nothing seems to help.

  • Contact Sheet II, Picture Package, & other options are grayed out on File menu

I just bought Photoshop Elements 11 yesterday, and Contact Sheet II, Picture Package, & other options are grayed out on the File menu.

I believe you need to be in the Expert mode for those commands to be available.
