Trying to acces printer on windows computer behind airport express and more

Title din't let me put it all in. Heres my problem. I have a mac, mom has a pc. Used to both run on a wireless network was able to access her printer no problem. However, her wireless card or windows itself was garbage so I bought a wired d-link router for cheap and hard lined her in. I however plugged my airport express into the router so I could still get wireless. All is working. However, I am not able to access her computer files or printer anymore. So, because she is behind the router, I can't get it. I am able to put say her address in that the router gives, say 192.168.0.100. Still no help. Basically it used to be set up like this in my printer settings. smb://name-0ab6f1634:139/BrotherM . So if anyone has any idea how to help me with this, that would be awesome. Wasnt sure if I should post here or in the networking place.. Thanks

I'm not there to see everything, but it sounds like you didn't set up the Airport Express correctly. Go into Airport Utility and uncheck/turn off "Distribute IP addresses." Now, your wireless computer(s) will get their IP address from the d-link and be a part of that network.

  • Help - Receive message "an error occurred printing this document" when using airport express and Ipad

Hi, I am trying to set up an airport express hub to work with a Star tsp100 receipt printer and IPad 2. The IPad is being used to accept credit card payments and I was hoping to print receipts out wirelessly using the airport express and receipt printer. I checked to make sure the airport express has the latest firmware and it does. The IPad software is also updated to the latest 7.1.  I then connected the Airport express and IPad and the network setup with no problems. I connected the receipt printer to the airport express using the USB slot available. While the printer comes up as available, when I attempt to print something, I get the error message "An error occurred printing this document" and I can cancel or Try again. No matter how many times I try, I continue to get this message and I lost as to the cause. When I disconnect and reconnect, another instance of the printer appears, but receive the same cryptic error message when I try to print. Totally lost, please help

    Hi kelston3,
In order to print from an iPad you will need to use a printer that is compatible with AirPrint, which is described in the following article -
    About AirPrint
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
AirPrint printers must be wireless on your network - not connected via USB to the base station. There is a list of printers that are known to be compatible with AirPrint in the article.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Share printer with Windows 7 via Airport Express?

I would like to share a printer with a Windows 7 Laptop via airport express. The Windows 7 Pc does not detect the printer whereas printing from the Macbook Pro works fine. Any ideas?

Hi,  I was searching for the same (my colleague has a windows PC; everyone else here has mac). I have not tested this, since I am working on mac, but it seems like you need to install "Bonjour" for windows.

  • Printing completely broken on both airport express and time capsule

Printing seems to be broken on both my old time capsul, generation one, and a new airport express.  Here's what happens.
    1.  Connect printer directly to the Mac and everything prints fine.
    2.  Reconnect printer to the Airport or timecapsule.  Delete all the printers.  Power cycle everything.  Add printer.  Print and it keeps trying to connect to the printer forever.
It use to work and it may have been a recient firmware update that broke it.  Any help would be appreciated.  I've been through all of the support documents and still nothing.  The printer is an old Epson Stylus R280.  I'm running 10.9 with all the latest drivers and updates.

If you want to run a N speeds, run a cable from Time Capsule to Airport Express, set Time Capsule as your primary router, and turn off DHCP on Airport Express. This will create two networks, your Express will have one SSID, and the Time Capsule another SSID. One G network and one N network. Don't include the express in your network, keep it separate from Time Capsule to avoid it from coming down to G speeds. Make sense?

  • Connecting a new HP computer with Windows 7 to Airport Express.

I have an AirPort Express set up with my home network, base station is configured on my IMAC.  Now I have a new HP PC with Windows 7 for work, and I'm having trouble getting it to connect to the AirPort Express.
It asks for a "Security Key", and nothing in the literature or on the hardware seems to match that.  I've tried every number sent with the Airport (ethernet ID, AirPort ID) but nothing works.  Can someone provide advice on how to get this to work?
    thanks,
    Kevin

It is unlikely that the very long security "key" will solve your issue with the PC, but you never know.... it might be worth a try.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AirPort Express and click Manual Setup
Ignoring the window in the center of the screen, look way, way up to the top of the computer screen where the Help, AirPort Utility, Window, etc menus are located.
    Click the Base Station menu
Click Equivalent Network Password password and your "key" will appear.

I believe that it is in AirPort Express, and would have to clean it. How do you do that?

You need to use the Express in router mode.. I think you are trying to use it in bridge mode.. but you need to give us a lot more details.. screenshots might help more than anything.

  • HT4587 I was trying to change channels on my airport express and I hit "Forget" on the devices and now my computer can't locate the airport express device.  What do I do?

My airport expresses are not showing up in my internet options.  I was trying to change channels between the airport utility and the airport expresses and they didn't reset properly.  I then hit "forget" on the options...now they are no longer visible.  It's a nightmare.  How do I get them back?

There are three Airport resets, soft, hard and factory default.  It would probably be beneficial if you tried each one in sequence.  Actually, you could jump to the factory default reset if you don't mind reconfiguring from scratch.

  • Airport Express and HP F4180 All in One Printer

    Hi
I just bought an Apple Airport Express to connect my F4180 to my wireless home network. This F4180 used to be connected directly via USB to my Vista PC and was available to the other laptops by sharing the printer. This worked ok, but I always had to start this specific computer to make the F4180 available for the other laptops.
After installing the Airport Express and Bonjour everything seemed perfect, but after the first print I noticed that only 60% of the page was printed and an error occured. I tried everything, installing, reinstalling, deleting, reading forums, helpdesks, etc, etc, but did not find an answer.
    Does anyone have a clue?
    Thanx in advance
    Henri
    Vista,
HP F4180 All in One printer,
    Apple Airport Express (latest version),
    Apple Bonjour (latest version),
    Linksys E200 wireless
Apple Airport Express installed as extension of existing network

This combination SHOULD work but it often does not.  I have replaced several base routers from non-Airport to Airport and resolved issues like this - USB printers, AirPlay issues, etc.  Its the only way I know how to make it work, sorry.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Why cant i print from my ipad using airport express but i can print from my mac using the express

why cant i print from my ipad using airport express but i can print from my mac using the express

Because your printer has to be Airprint compatible and connected to WiFi. There are applications, such as Printopia, that will allow you to print through your computer.

  • I have bought a new airport express and using it with my macbook (iTunes 10.2.2). I have joined an existing network for internet in my home and with that i am trying to play the music via itunes but there is audio dropouts every 60 secs or so. any soln ?

I have bought a new airport express and using it with my macbook (iTunes 10.2.2). I have joined an existing wireless network for internet in my home and with that i am trying to play the music via itunes but there is audio dropouts every 60 secs or so. I am using a set of speakers from kenwood connected to the airport express. The operating system on my macbook is mac os X 10.5.8. i am sure it is not a problem of streaming music online because i have even tried playing music which are stored in my macbook.
Is there any problem with the setting in itunes or quicktime ? Kindly reply...... I am waiting for your valuable suggestion.
Thank you a lot in advance.

I am shocked to have found this same AX audio dropout problem starting TODAY, every few seconds the audio just drops for a couple seconds and then resumes:  Latest software versions of everything.  No iPad, iPhone or Touch.  Internet hardwired to D-Link DES1105 (1000baseT Switch) hardwired to new 80211N AX, AX optical to stereo, AX Wi-Fi internet to basic 1st-gen MacBook operating at 80211G, and an older 'G' AX extender at the far end of the house, away from all this.  The MacBook streaming iTunes is usually 12 feet from AX.  I've used this setup for years of trouble-free AirTunes / Airplay until today.  Today I also found 2 very reliable fixes and 1 way to force a dropout, but first, I read some posts and tried ALL following settings one-at-a-time and restored them ALL because NONE of them helped:  Turned off IPV6.  Streamed to multiple speakers 'Computer' and 'AX' (restored to just AX).  Turned off 'Ask to Join new (WiFi) Networks'.  Turned off Bluetooth (can't live without Magic Trackpad, so glad that wasn't it).  Here's my discoveries:  Lo and behold, each time I click the Airport icon in the Menu (you know it shows you've got 4 bars from AX) when the status switches to 'Looking for Networks' for a second it CAUSES the AX audio to drop out for a couple seconds (it never did that before today.)  iTunes still playing, streaming, AX laser still lit, but the 'PCM' light on stereo and the sound GOES OUT EVERY time I click the Airport icon in the menubar, just like the regular, annoying dropouts.  So, to reduce traffic I quit Safari (3 tabs, no streaming, just Gmail, Google, and Netflix browsing).  Lo and behold, the dropouts stopped altogether.  No other Web apps going (not iTunes Store, Genius, Ping, nothing), so I launched Chrome to the same 3 tabs and the dropouts HAVE NOT RETURNED.  That's right, not only did simply QUITTING SAFARI cure it, and Chrome doesn't contribute to it, but I can demonstrate it just by forcing my Airport to re-scan.  Works for me, written using Chrome.  The other reliable fix is to hardwire MacBook to the Switch.  This is obviously not ideal, but Airplay audio doesn't drop out over Ethernet.  Also, in all my tests, it made no difference whether iTunes did the streaming, or Airfoil did.

  • Iam trying to import a short video in final cut express and I'm getting this error... File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.  How do I solve this problem? The video is on my desktop it's an mpg.

Iam trying to import a short video in final cut express and I'm getting this error... File Error: 1 file(s) recognized. 0 access denied, 1 unknown. How do I solve this problem?  The video is on my desktop and it's an mpg file. Please help me

Get a copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert your MPG file to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC).  In FCE, select one of the setups that uses AIC that best matches your clip (say, 1920x1080i60).  Create a new sequence, then import the converted file.
Note that if your MPG file is actually MPEG2 you will also need the QuickTime MPEG2 Component in addition to MPEG Streamclip.
What was the source of the MPG file?  How about if you open it in QuickTime, then do Window > Show Movie Inspector.  Tell us what it says for codec/compression, frame size & frame rate.

  • USB printer not seen wirelessly on Airport Express through Airport Extreme

    Hey everyone,
I just bought an Airport extreme and a new Airport express for my house. I've got the Extreme in the basement where it is sending out wifi and directly plugged into a PS3 and the new Airport Express, which is 2 floors upstairs. The Express is upstairs In my office where it extends my wifi and also plugs into my iMac. I took the USB cable from the Samsung laser printer ('07 SCX-4521) from the back of the iMac and plugged it into the USB port on the Express so I could print wirelessly without having the iMac always on. I changed the settings on the iMac print preferences to now recognize the new location of the printer as being on the Airport Express. I tried to print a page from the iMac and had no problem, however I tried to print from my iPhone 4S and the printer wasn't even listed. I don't have the phone jailbroken, and all software on all machines and accessories are up to date, etc., so is there something obvious they I'm missing here? Can anyone help me out, please? The whole point of the Express was to allow me to print wirelessly and not have to move the printer to a bedroom in the basement.
    Thanks in advance!

Are you saying that the iPhone will print when the printer is connected to your iMac?
Or, will the iPhone not print when the printer is connected to your iMac?
The iPhone will not print when the printer is connected to the Airport Express.
Check this Apple support document to see if your printer is AirPrint compatible.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
If you find that the printer is not on the list of compatible devices, simply connecting it to the AirPort Express will not make it AirPrint compatible.
This is what I was afraid of. I talked to 2-3 Apple employees in the store and they said that most printers that can be used when directly connected to the USB port of a MB Pro, iMac, etc., would also be compatible with the Airport Express and would in turn make the printer AirPrint compatible. Obviously they were totally wrong. The printer itself has to be Airprint compatible and there really is no documentation in the new Airport Express Setup Guide or on the webpage that states that. My printer isn't Airprint compatible, therefore the ability to use this as a network printer on the Airport Express is useless. My only option is to connect it directly to the iMac and keep the iMac running (which is what I wanted to avoid).
Thanks for your help. Hopefully Apple can just come out and say this on the Airport Express box or on the AE website, as I guarantee I'm not the only one who wanted this capability. Other than that, both the Extreme and Express work very well and are simple to use, but I think I'll be taking back the Express as the Extreme's range is great.

  • Airport Express and Apple TV not seen by new computer

I have two airport expresses (both A1084 wireless g) and an Apple TV (a couple years old).  I have the latest version of iTunes and the latest version of Airport Utility.  My new computer is a PC running Windows 8.  Everything worked fine until last week when my old computer failed (it was a PC running Vista).  I got the new machine up and running and for a little while the computer could see the airport expresses but never did see the apple tv.  Then it stopped and that was that.  I shut everything down, restarted everything, uninstalled and reinstalled Airport Utility, uninstalled Airport Utility again and reinstalled an older version, that didn't work, upgraded to the new version of Aiport Utility and that still didn't work. My wireless network is fine, my iPad can connect, the new computer can access the internet fine.  My old windows xp computer that is on its last legs can see the two airport expresses and the apple tv.  But this new computer which is the one that is supposed to take care of all this for me can't.  Any suggestions because I'm at my wits end.

i'm assuming that the Airport Utility app for your ipad sees them?  I wonder if Win8 has a firewall active that is blocking the ports.
