Trying to Access iCloud
When trying to access the iCloud, I am getting a message requiring I sign in. This I attempt to do. However, I then get the message "Cannot Sign In", and "This Apple ID is valid, but is not an iCloud account". Somewhat perplexed & confused, I then select "learn more" to try and find out what's going on. I then get a whole lot of information about the iCloud, including the following: "Before you can use iCloud on each of your devices, you need to sign in to iCloud using your existing Apple ID or a new one, then turn on the iCloud features you want to use".
Is it me, or is this a bit circular? To be told, when I'm unable to turn on iCloud by a sign-in process that appears to be blocked- that I should start the process by signing in, just doesn't make any sense to me? I've had our ipad for a month now, and am still grappling with making effective use of the iCloud. I suspect it's a really great idea, but..why is it so difficult to use? Why so many barriers?
Also, is there any way of "turning off" the sign-in process? Given that I am the sole owner and user of the device, shouldn't I have the right/ be able to circumvent this somewhat time-consuming and aggravating hassle?
You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

Here's how I got it working again.
Apparently my 6 letter password is no longer acceptable. You need to update it to an 8 letter password that includes numbers and capital letters.
So I went to https://iforgot.apple.com and asked to reset my password.
Because I could still get my emails logging into iCloud with Safari, I responded to Apple's email, and created a stronger password.
Than I updated the passwords on my computer's Mail program, iPhone, and iPad (and of course everything else, iTunes, etc.).
That was it!
Everything works as normal again, I even was finally able to synchronize calendars over different computers again.
Try it out, it could be your issue as well. -
I use Mozilla Firefox and have never had difficulty before, but today I got 'this connection is untrusted' when trying to open iCloud. There was no option to override this.
The Technical Details said:
www.icloud.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.
(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
Help!Clear your history/cookies and stuff like that on Firefox and then retry. If that doesn't work try restarting the computer or accessing iCloud via Google Chrome or Safari for the time being. I feel your pain, I love Firefox.

Try the following.
Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (This removes your data from your device, but not from your account, it will be added back later).
Restart the device.
Sign in again (Settings > iCloud, don't use the 'Create New Apple ID' button). -
Trying to access icloud from old phone
I recently got the iphone 6 and unfortunately my old iphone (5) didnt have the new iOS 8 so its saying that I can't see my last backup from my iphone 5 because it's not "updated" to the new iOS but its still taking up all the storage on my icloud. Is there any possible way I could see those pictures again or access them?
The only way to access picture (or anything else) from an iCloud backup is to restore the entire backup to your device. Also, you can't restore a backup made on a device that was running a higher version of iOS than the device you are trying to restore it to. If you wanted to restore the backup to your old phone, you would have to update it to the latest iOS in order to restore the backup. There is expensive 3rd party software that claims to be able to access data from an iCloud backup (Wondershare Dr.Phone), but I have no experience with it so can't comment on whether it works or not. You would be far better off updating the old phone so you could restore the existing backup to it.

Trying to access iCloud acct, can't remember password to an earlier email!
When I first set up my iCloud acct. on my iPhone 5s (7.1.1), I had a different email address than I do now. In trying to log in, it asks me for a long-forgotten password to this old email.
How can I resolve this???? I can't even delete the account because it requires that same old password first before I can turn off "Find My Phone."

You need to follow these instructions to get your iCloud up to date:
1. Go to Manage your Apple ID, sign in with your current Apple ID and Edit the ID back to the old email address. This is temporary. Do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password: Apple - My Apple ID
2. Go to Settings>iCloud and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Delete Account. Type in your current Apple ID password when asked. Follow the prompts to delete the iCloud account from your device
3. Go back to Manage your Apple ID and sign on with the old email address/current password, and Edit the ID back to the new email address (you may have to verify it again)
4. Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with the new Apple ID

How do I access iCloud email from a browser on a Mac?
I am trying to access iCloud email from a borrowed Mac. I don't want to set up my iCloud account on this Mac since it's not mine. My understanding is you can access iCloud via a browser, but when I sign into iCloud I am prompted to set up iCloud on the device, which is exactly what I do not want to do. This was using "mail.icloud.com" which was my best guess at a URL. I know iCloud email cannot be accessed via a browser on iPads, etc., but it should be accessible on Macs via browser from what I have read.
Anyone know how to do this? Am I using the wrong URL?Well, the good news is I have the URL correct.
But regardless of whether I use http://icloud.com or http://mail.icloud.com, I still get prompted with a dialog box which says the following:
"Setup iCloud on a device to use iCloud.com"
If I click "Close" I end up back up at the sign in screen and have to enter my username/password again.
If I click "Learn More", my only other choice, I end up on some sort of help page that tells me how to set up iCloud on this device. Which is precisely what I don't want to do. I just want to access a webmail page like, for example, gmail.
I don't see any "Mail" icon there.

How do I access ICloud on my 4S when it has an old email address for my apple ID?
I've somehow lost my phone contacts and calendar information. I'm trying to access ICloud hoping to retrieve the lost data. But when I try to access ICloud it asks for a password that is associated with an old Apple ID email address.
Welcome to the Apple community Jalder.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Icloud is greyed out in settings can't access iCloud or Twitter
iCloud an Twitter are greyed out in Settings on my iPad. iTunes says that it was backed up this morning. I can not access iCloud on my pad. Anyonelse?
A little more info is needed. How are you trying to access iCloud (via contacts, calendar, mail app)? Also check Settings>Restrictions. Not sure if turning it on would cause this, but check to be sure its not turned on.

Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

I have tried to access iCloud on my iMac, howerver when I do it wants my username (my me.com email) and password. When I hit submit it sits idle and does not connect. And ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I can access it by a web browser but when I go into system preference to try and access it, this is when I have the problem.

Hi, one of my daughters friends tried to access her ipod causing it to become disabled; i do not want her to lose all her photos, she accesses my itunes account which is on ICLOUD, will she lose all her data - can this be fixed? I do not think it has been synced with a computer before.

If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.
Otherwise y will have to restore and thus erase the iPod
You can restore from backup
If not in backup then:
- If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Does iCloud save voicemail messages from my iphone 5 when I back up? More specifically, I am trying to access messages from my now deceased father that were in my deleted voicemail folder at the time I last saved, that have since been cleared.
The iCloud backup includes visual voicemail messages. I'm not sure if it includes the deleted ones or not, but I would assume it does.
