Trying to activate a phone

Trying to activate a phone that I got because my last phone was stolen it's telling me I have no service so I can't call to activate

Do you have a ATT sim card installed? If you need one, stop by any ATT corporate store for a free one. Don't go to a ATT reseller; they're known to charge for them.

Then how should i go about changing the phone that is on the suspended line, because i want that phone on a different line. Is it possible?
As Suzy mentioned you cannot do anything while the line is suspended. First, go and activate the phone. Now, are you trying to basically swap 2 phones? Meaning "PhoneA has line #A, PhoneB has line #B, and you want PhoneA on line #B, and vice versa?

  • Hi i have a problem with my iphone 3gs. i updated the software to ios 6 but now when trying to activate the phone it comes up with a message saying that the activation server is currently unavailable, also it always says no sim! what can i do?

i have an activation problem with my iphone 3gs. i updated the software to io6 using itunes but now the phone will not complete activation because it keeps saydin the activation server is not available and to re try later. ive been trying for 6 hours but it still wont activate. if i try using itunes then it sayd no sim inserted when there is one inserted, what can i do?

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..

  • HT201210 I have tried to update to IOS6 and it has prompted me to connect to ITunes but when I do I keep getting the message ' There is no sim card inserted in the Iphone you are trying to activate'.  My phone is now locked on the IOS6 update screen!

I have been without mu IPhone 4 since yesterday now as I tried to do the IOS6 update and since then it has messed up my phone and I am unable to access any of it's functions as it is locked on the update screen.
My phone was bought through Vodfone and have been on their network ever since, never had any problems like this.
It prompts me to connect to ITunes and when I do it will not go any further as stating 'No sim card is inserted in the IPhone you are trying to activate'.  Well there is a sim in there and I have removed it and reinserted it on many occasions today.  I am also not trying to activate my phone as all I did was try to the update which I was prompted to do in my setting!
I have seen many people on the net today with the same or similar problems but as yet I am to find a solution!
Help, please as it is driving me crazy!!!

    Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds.  Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

  • HT201407 I'm trying to activate my iphone that i got used. i restored it to factory settings and it says it is activated under the previous owners apple id. They are not with me nor do i know how to get a hold of them. What do i do to reactivate it?

I'm trying to activate my iphone that i got used. i restored it to factory settings. I'm now trying to activate the phone and it says it was originallyh activated with someone else appleid. They aren't around nor do i have anyway of getting a hold of them. How do i activate the phone with my appleid?

If you cannot contact the previous owner, then the iPhone is unusuable. There is no way past the activation lock without the Apple ID and password used to set up the lock, or the previous owner removing the device from his/her iCloud account.
If you purchased the iPhone though a service such as eBay that offers buyer protection, contact that service and file a complaint and get your money back. If you purchased the iPhone privately, then you've wasted your money.
    Regards.

  • HT201210 Trying to activate my iPhone, but it says activation server unavailable, tried connecting to iTunes, but I get same message

As above really, keep getting activation server unavailable, after trying to activate my phone after a restore

I do have a SIM card installed, albeit it says invalid sim.and this was my reason for a restore.
My sim is the same sim I have had since I bought the phone new, it has never been removed and the phone is not jail broken.
Still cannot activate due to server not available!

iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Symptoms
Learn to resolve issues with activating FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Resolution
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with FaceTime and iMessage.
To use FaceTime with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime."
To use iMessage with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > Messages > Receive At and tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage."
When you enable FaceTime or iMessage with an iPad or iPod touch, you need to enter a valid Apple ID and password. Other users will be able to contact you on FaceTime and iMessage using this email address. If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime. To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. I'm new to all this, so this question may seem silly, my apologies. If I activate my new phone using PC, will I have any issues when I change to an iMac, in the near future?
You will have no issues. The activation process does not tie it to any particular computer.
I remember something from a tutorial video about restoring the iPhone on the Pc or Mac used to activate it. Does this mean if I activate using PC that I will have restore issues when I change to iMac?
    You will not.

  • TS3212 trying to activate my iPhone 4S when I try to download iTunes on my Windows 7 computer I keep getting  message telling me to verify that the package exists or contact the application vendor. All I want to do is activate my new phone. What am I doin

I was excited when my iPhone 4sarrived yesterday. I charged it but today when I tried to download iTunes in order to activate the phone I found that I was unable to download it successfully. I keep getting a message that tells me to Verify that the package exists or contact the application vendor. I have no idea how to do any of this. I was downloading from the AT&T support site.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I recently downloaded the new ios 5 software onto my 3gs, and now it won't activate and says 'no sim' on my itunes screen, i know this sim works because it did 30 mins ago and i tried it in other phones since. please help

I just downloaded ios 5 update to put onto my 3gs, it is now saying i need to activate my phone and not allowing me. the phone screen says server is down, when my internet is fine. and my itunes says there is no sim in the phone, i know the sim works as i tried it in another phone to check, and i have also tried a different sim. please help, how do i activate it?

Unfortunately, you might have to wait a little bit.  I know how you feel.  I can't live without my phone either.  The activation servers are probably overloaded with everyone trying to update to iOS 7 today.
