Trying to add ringtones to iphone

This is getting really frustrating....I cannot add ringtones to my iphone 3g....
I have read the threads where it says to go and enable ringtones feature on itunes....I HAVE NONE....
I have read the threads where it says to drag and drop a ringtone by the library part of the itunes bar and it will show up.......IT DOESN'T....
Help me please, this is sooooo frustrating......
I just want to be able to add any ringtones, thats all.

If you're saying that your text tone is in your iTunes library and you've selected to sync it to your phone but it won't transfer you might try this: Click on the text tone in iTunes, right-click and select Get Info, go to the Info tab and change the Artist name (just something small like adding an extra character to the end of the artist name). Click OK at the bottom, connect your phone and see if it syncs. Sometimes this will transfer a stubborn ringtone or text tone.

iPhone is designed to sync with one computer only, if you sync with another, all your content will be erased and replaced by whatever is on that computer.

why does it say my phone is synced to another library, if I want to proceed with syncing music it asks to erase contents and sync with current info. How do I know all my contacts on my phone are saved if it wants to erase info?

Apple's intention is that you manage an iPhone from a single library. If you connect to a different library iTunes wants to wipe everthing out and start over.

Trying to make ringtones for Iphone 4

I can't find the duplicate version of my shortened song for the ringtone. It used to work for Iphone 3, I don't know what happened. My import settings are set for AAC, I don't know what's wrong. How can I get those settings back? When I click "convert to AAC version" , I can hear the little chime that lets me know the conversion was happening, but it doesn't show the song under the regular song after it's done converting. Any information will be appreciated, thanks.

All depends on how many people are accessing Apple's servers. You'll find slow downs in the next few days at least. Everyone is updating. Personally, I don't do the download and install in iTunes. I just download the new iOS on to my computer. Then once that's done, I'll do the update directly from my computer using the ispw file I just downloaded. Much faster, no worries of server crashes while updating.

Hi! I selected a 3rd party ringtone which I downloaded on my Mac Air and then imported to iTunes which appeared under music. Now I have to move to TONE folder & hereafter sync with my iPhone 5 to create as ringtone on my device which I am unable to move.

Paul--you are a life-saver!! Worked great. I did have to look around to make sure I was getting 4.9 instead of 4.7 (even when the file was named 4.9 at techspot.com), but I finally got the right file, did the install as you suggested, and everything is now fine. One note, though, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of this thread: when I first tried to open up iTunes after getting back to 4.9, the following message appeared: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I merely went to the old .itl file that was created when I did the update to iTunes 5, renamed it, moved it over to my now new 4.9, and iTunes opened fine. My library was a few days out of date, because of the few days' lag from the time I did the iTunes update, but that was easily taken care of, and everything's now working fine. Thanks again!!!

Are you leaving the box unchecked to Manually manage music & videos? You don't need to to add anything to the iPhone.
Simply drag the playlist to the iPhone to manually add it.

You don't need to upgrade your software. But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3. It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC. More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

Check the mute switch along the side, near the external volume controls.

If you are having an issue with Touch ID not functioning as expected, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Start with the section titled Clean the Touch ID sensor and then Get help with Touch ID.
