Trying to apply an update to Firefox, new window says 'connecto the update server..' but it never connects.
When turning on the computer, I am advised that an update to Firefox is available and it is highly recommended that I update.
But trying to apply an update to Firefox, new window says 'connecto the update server..' but it never connects.
Hello jwmoss, If there is an issue with update or permissions the better and easiest way is to download and install firefox:
1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
2. '''''Trash''''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
3. Install the version that you have downloaded.
Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

When i try to do a software update, it finishes and then says that the update cannot be saved because it has probably been corrupted during the download. This has happened a number of times and i do not know why, any help?

1) Turn your Wi-Fi router OFF... wait 30 seconds... Turn it back ON.
OR...
Do not use Wi-Fi and connect Directly to your Internet via ethernet cable. -

I've tried to uninstall iTunes to start over again and it won't let me, and have also gone through the step-by-step guides on Apple Support.
What's the precise text of the error message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

Trying to see new windows computer on the network.. but I cant. Help?
I can see the old windows PC on the network just fine. I open up a finder window, click on Network in the upper left hand, and in there click on "Charter" whatever that is (its actually our ISP but I dont know why its in there) and I see the other PC. Both PC's are running WinXP. This Mac is running 10.3.9. I cant figure it out. Any thoughts? Thanks,
ChrisIf you want to see the Network, you need to go into Finder->Preferences, select the sidebar tab and then make sure there is a checkbox next to Computer at the top of the list. After you enable this, your computer's name will show on the sidebar and you should be able to get the Network listing from within there.
I found that I had to turn off the Leopard firewall in order to be able to see machines on the local network. I had previously put it into stealth mode. -

I am unable to apply my downloaded update. When I try to apply it and restart firefox, it still says 'apply downloaded update now...'. Why can't I apply this update and what do I do about it?
Checked out that link and everything seems to be in order on this machine at this time.
I only have CC installed on this one machine, not even my secondary machine like is permitted. it seems odd that I'm asked to re-accept the Licence Agreement as often as I am. If I had to guess, it's almost every week, if not multiple times some weeks, that all the software will decide I should have to view the licence agreement.
Edit: I've never had any noticeable "errors" activating or anything like that. I just get asked to do it quite frequently.
This activation screen isn't too annoying (it involves clicking one single button), but like I stated earlier, if I'm trying to launch the software by double-clicking on a PSD, AI, PPROJ, AEP, etc... that file will fail to open.
I feel like that's probably not really a bug, but it is frustrating, since I did launch the application with the intent to edit that specific file I tried to open.
Again, something that you guys may consider working on.
Another annoyance is that: agreeing to the licence agreement is a per-application task, so if I see that Licence Agreement dialogue window by opening Photoshop (for example), I know that every other piece of software I have in the suite (Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Audition) will be showing me that screen on it's next launch. Probably deliberate for legal purposes that I can't just agree once for the whole suite, but heck, it would save me a lot of minor headaches if it was a unified agreement. -
Why does it say that the updated version of Firefox (which I am trying to download) is not compatible with my operating system when I have Mac OS X 10.5.8? I had an older version of Firefox and it said I needed to update it but that was the message that appeared.
Sorry, it's because Firefox 4+ are only compiled for the Intel processors.
There is a separate project for PPC Macs called Ten Four Fox. You might give it a spin when you're tired of 3.6.

iPod updates 2 touch with the new software, and from the update they are not connected with Time phase. They appear calling but never they enter the calls. I make calls with other users and if one connects but in these two not from the update
I use Firefox 95% of the time, and there's no problem with flash content (and I'm still at .55 - downloaded .64 last week but I haven't got round to making the change yet). At the rate they've been changing it recently it may well be out of date already .
I've been trying it in Safari, too with no problems apart from You Tube, but that's because I'm blocking Google cookies.
One thought does occur - if your Flash preferences are set to block all Local Storage, it may be that the problem site is trying to use Flash cookies (LSOs). I had this problem recently with the BBC iPlayer streaming content. Little Snitch notified an attempt to connect to a new URL - emp.bbci.co.uk.
If I disallowed it, no streaming; when I allowed the connection, it still wouldn't stream, so I did a bit of digging and came to the conclusion that it was trying to set a Flash cookie. When I unblocked, lo and behold - streaming resumed as normal.
I now have LSOs blocked in a more subtle way that lets the site think it's being set (but it ain't) and the streaming still works.
As for permissions repair - always repair from local; the permissions on the original disc will have been superceded by updates and new installations of Apple software.
DU needs to be reading the packages on the HD, not the (now out of date) install disc.
The recurring repair messages are normal and don't mean anything's wrong. As long as the final message is 'repair complete' there's no need to dwell on it.

my ant video player after i updated to firefox four is now in the upper part of the screen where it opens up and i cant find out how to fix it
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:

I'm still new to apple. I have a prompt that two of my apps have updates. Will it tell me if the update is free or has to be paid for? All I see is the button for "update"
Automatic updates that look like this do not add cost beyond what you originally paid:
This is how Apple delivers the patches and updates that are detected to apply to your system.
