Trying to "blend with white" in Aperture 3

I am trying to fade each of a large group of pictures toward white in Aperture 3, but am having some difficulty with deep colors.
What I'm looking for, I can get in PS Elements by blending with a white layer on top (with roughly 80% opacity), but I don't see a corresponding functionality in A3. Instead, I'm doing a levels adjustment in A3 (see below). Although A3 is working mostly fine on some of the pictures, all is not well.
In A3, is there some other way to "blend with white"?

Levels adjustment using Luminance Channel: Dragged center slider to G:0.02. As you can see in the link, it looks pretty good on most of the picture, but some of the red goes to magenta and doesn't fade.

Blended with a white layer (80%). This is close to the way I'd like the photo to look. I can get a similar effect in Levels in PSE by pushing up the Black Output level.

Is there a similar feature in A3 for output levels? (If so I didn't see it.) Is there another way to accomplish this in A3? I want to apply this adjustment to a large number of photos for feeding a mosaic maker, and don't want to have to do them individually in PSE.

Wow. That's a pretty serious mosaic
You'll only be able to do 100 pictures in a single book, since this is the max number of pages it can contain. You'll also run into some problems if you're duplicating versions since only 1 version can be active in a book (album pick). You'll need to make sure none of those versions are stacked together.
But I just recreated your example pretty easily just using curves and a few tweaks in the Exposure and Enhance panels: http://www.laroquephoto.com/wash/wash.jpg
I just spent a few seconds on it so I'm sure you could do better. The trick is to lower contrast below zero by placing your cursor inside the contrast value box and dragging left. Most adjustments can be overdriven this way.
I think this might make your life a bit easier...

Does Photoshop always blends transparent images with white color?

It looks like merged-image-data in PSD files contains RGB data which is blended with white color (based on transparency). Is that correct for all versions of Photoshop/PSD? Can I disable it or change that color?

I think you're misinterpreteting what you're seeing. In the specific example you cited, IrfanView is reading the flattened composite, assuming you're saving as a Maximum Compatibility PSD, as it hasn't the ability to mix layers.
Perhaps this flattened composite is what you're asking about.
In the actual layers of the file, when Maximize Compatibility is not specified, Photoshop puts pure white in the pixels where there is complete transparency, but for partially transparent areas there's no premultiplication.

If you have the exact same problem - take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. If you have AppleCare call them!

HT1430 The screen on my Itouch is erratic with white lines running up and down. I tried restoring it and holding down on/off button and menu button for 10 seconds about 5 times. Any ideas on if this can be fixed or am I out of an I touch. Thank you.

Creating objects that blend with respect to size?

Is it possible to blend objects with respect to size? I am looking to accomplish this (see image below); the triangles on the bottom is larger and bolder, and as you move up it begins to shrink in height.
Am I just better off doing this manually? Thanks in advance.

You've shown what your results are, but your description of what you've done and what you desire is vague.
Are you saying you want to blend two triangles and have their widths change, but their heights remain the same? If so, then simply draw the two key objects that way:
1. Draw the large triangle in its horizontal orientation, like the bottom-most triangle in your posted image.
2. Duplicate it. Move the duplicate upward to where you want the top-most triangle.
3. Select both. Create the Blend with the desired number of steps.
4. White Pointer: Select the top triangle. Select its rightmost anchorPoint and move it leftward.
If the image does not depict unwanted results, but what you are trying to accomplish, then do much the same thing, but also edit the height of the top key object of the Blend. (Select just its two left anchorPoints and scale them.)
You could also do this same thing, by creating a right-pointing triangle Brush, drawing two open paths of different lengths, and then blending the two paths:
1. Rectangle Tool: Click (don't drag). Specify a square.
2. Doubleclick the Rotate tool. Rotate the square 45 degrees.
3. Minus Pen Tool: Click the leftmost anchorPoint to delete it.
4. Drag the resulting triangle to the Brushes palette. Define an Artbrush with its direction pointing rightward.
5. Line Tool: Shift drag to create a horizontal path the desired length of the widest rectangle.
6. Duplicate the path. Drag it upward to where you want the topmost triangle.
7. Apply the triangular Brush to both paths.
8. Create the Blend with the desired number of steps.
9. WhitePointer: Select the topmost triangle (the top key object). Select its rightmost anchorpoint to change its width.
10. Change the Stroke Weight to adjust the "weight" of the triangle (effectively, its height.) Similarly adjust the Stroke Weight of the bottom-most triangle.

570 GTX lockup with white squares

According to MSI Afterburner I am running the stock settings: 988mV core voltage, 786MHz Core/1572MHz Shader/2100MHz Memory.
I have never overclocked the card beyond the stock OC that the card comes with.
When playing the game Rift after about an hour, sometimes less little white squares show up all over both of my monitors and then within a few seconds the computer locks up.
MSI Kombustor seems to work ok, I haven't run it indefinitely but it makes it through the default benchmark. I tried another stress program called OCCT. I ran that for about 20 minutes with default shader complexity (0) and it produced 1 error and no crashes. I tried it again with shader complexity 4 (out of 8) and every minute or two it would signal an error then after about half an hour I got the same lockup with the white squares. So far I have only seen this lockup occur in Rift and with OCCT. I beat Portal 2 in single player and Coop and played several hours of Shogun 2 with no issues.
This is actually my second 570. My original one started producing artifacts constantly and games were completely unplayable. I RMA'ed it a week or two ago and now this card is presenting a different problem.
Rest of my computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)
Intel Core i5 760 at stock (2.80GHz)
8GB DDR3 Ram
750 Watt Silverstone power supply
Any suggestions on what to try next? Is the card bad? I didn't see any references to this exact problem when I tried searching the MSI forums. Though I did run across another forum where someone was having the same problem. I don't think they found a solution though.

I've tried doing that with no results. Same screen keeps showing. Maybe it'd be more helpful if I told you a bit more info. My phone was randomly playing music, and the voice control would also suddenly start without me touching the phone. Then I let the battery die and started to recharge when on the screen it indicated to plug into my computer/iTunes, I tried to restore but was getting an error message (can't remember what it said now). Battery died and now my current issue of the black screen with white apple. I'd love to be able to restore my phone but now its not showing as a device on my iTunes. HELP! Any other suggestions?

Black screen with white apple logo won't go away! Help please.

Last night I turned theipod completeley off and restarted it. The black screen with the white apple logo came on and hasn't went of since.
I've tried everything I could find in the forums and on the support page.
iTunes will not recognize my ipod which has continously tried to start up again every 5 minutes.
I don't know what more to do, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

I did try that. When I do that the red slider bar to turn the ipod off doesn't come up.
Its still trying to reset itself but won't go any farther than the black screen with white apple.

Black screen with white writing on boot - then nothing...

Ok, this is a long story, but here's the abridged version;
I have a mac mini - the old PPC version. It has just come back from being repaired - replacement logic board. However, repaired it is not. Every time i try to start it up, I get a brief white screen with grey apple logo as normal, and then a black screen with white writing on. The writing is exactly the same text as you can see in the console system log. It gets about a page-full through this, and then goes completely black. No video at all.
However, the machine is still working in there - I know this because I'm typing on it now via VNC. It is perfectly happy and all. It just does this weirdness start up and then no video.
My question is twofold:
1. The company that repaired it claims that it booted fine before they gave it back to me; however, it hasn't since I've had it back. Could the boot behaviour be some kind of diagnostic thing they left on my machine, or a mode they left it in. If so, how do I get rid of it?
2. Failing this, does it sound like my vidoe card packed up maybe?
Thoughts, solutions, etc., most welcome!

I could, but (a) I'm not convinced it's not related to the replacement logic board and thus a hardware issue, and (b) I can't see to do a clean install because it has no video signal

Photo file issues with iWeb and Aperture....also too much duplicating!!

A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.

Perhaps you are right.
I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?

Black background with white text?

Just installed the trial and am trying to figure out how to get ALL the windows to be black with white text. In prefs I can set the main viewer and filmstrip to black but all others remain gray. I've seen all kinds of screenshots fro Apple so I know it can be done. I did check through the PDF help but didn't see anything there (unless I'm just missing it). TIA.

There are a few options that may be considered here, so I will give brief details of the ones I am thinking could help.
The OS itself may have options that help, and you may as you have tried select to use chosen settings but these simple solutions are often unsatisfactory.

Browser with white page

I have a problem when I start the run time mode for any module , the browser display a white page, this problem was not happening, its suddenly started ,

there is something new ....after the first time the J Initiator installed the browser runs correctly and module appears.. but after that the same problem again .
I tried Oracle J Initiator: Version 1.3.1.30 but its not exist for the applet when you try to test a module the browser ask to install Oracle J Initiator: Version 1.3.1.22
after many tries of reinstalling J Initiator the Firefox browser suddenly stopped opening , just explorer 8 is opening with white page .
what is going on ???????

Can't use Blend with Z10

Tried opening Blackberry Blend with my Z10 connected to the computer - it tells me I need version 10.3 of the BB OS, but when I try to update the phone OS it tells me my current version (10.2.1.3062) is the latest version.

I installed OS 10.3.1.1949 yesterday and Blend works like a charm.
