Trying to bridge connections to an xbox360 with no luck[SOLVED]
I am trying to set it up so that I can either 1) have an ad hoc connection between my arch linux computer so I can stream music to the xbox and/or 2) Bridge a connection between the ethernet link between the xbox and computer... to the wireless connection to the internet on a router.
I have configured my xbox to have a static ip configuration such as
192.168.1.3
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
My arch computer is connected to the router (not with internet... just local) with an ip of 192.168.1.2 on the DHCP server. I am using networkmanager to get on the internet or do any networking. However, even though I am able to connect to the router and the xbox on the same router using ethernet cables... I am still unable to ping the xbox from my computer. Also, even though I have clearly specified a host name, the router doesn't assign a host name to my computer. UPnP is enabled and assigned to my xbox on the router as well.
I have tried to open up the networkmanager dialogue with the nm-applet and change the settings for a ad hoc network between the xbox and computer but I can't "save" the settings using the gui interface. I am not sure where to look in order to resolve these issues but if I can at least get my computer to connect to the xbox I believe I can work from there.

Even though I have everything setup properly, I still can't ping or access the xbox from my arch computer. Would this have anything to do with host names? I know that when I am using the exact same setup when I am logged into windows the xbox has a name and it shows up in the network device list. Arch doesn't seem to show anything in the network except for the routers and the name for those routers. The xbox will ask me which computer to access... and it only shows computers that are "not listed"... which basically means the xbox either cannot see the computer on the network at all or the host name just isn't showing up. I have a host name setup for arch.. which is why this is confusing for me.

My 3GS will not charge. I have tried it from my computer and from a wall socket. I also have tried another computer and a different cable with no luck. My computer doesnt see the device either. I havent had any issues until now. Any ideas?

My IPad screen is dark and will not turn on. I have charged the battery and no luck. I have tried to restart it multiple times with no luck. During the restart, the screen will flicker like it is trying to restart but the silver apple never shows. Any suggestions?
Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it has never been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this. -
Trying to activate a menu bar icon with no luck :/
Hello everyone, how great is it to assign hotkeys for your application menus. Yet... for the more interesting users like me, we need to also activate menu bar icon settings, particularly the 'show ink window' in my case. Respectively iv'e tried every corner in the world for another way of activating that besides the point and click method everyone is forced to use... and came up with no answer... so i figured, what about Terminal? maybe... just maybe there is a Terminal(OS X native command-line tool) command for this, if anyone knows please share!!

I have not been able to copy and paste in firefox for the last two months. My research on the topic has led me to try the disabling all plugins, creating a new profile in safe startup, I removed appInit_dlls from my registry, could not find pushowxx adware, installed lastest version and updates of firefox, etc. All to no avail.

I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:

Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

For all you folks trying to install a new DVD burner with no luck
I just bought a Panasonic UJ 841 for my Toshiba A100. It contains BOTH master and slave firmware. I installed the drive and like most of you it disn't see the drive in the BIOS. I contacted the guy in Taiwan who I bought the drive from and he showed me the slickest trick I have seen in a while. You DO NOT NEED TO FLASH THE FIRMWARE TO MAKE IT A SLAVE DRIVE. Yesterday my outlook calender events no longer are showing up in my calendar on iPad. It is still on the list when you click on Calendar and is checkmarked. I deleted the account in settings and reset it up and still nothing. I have so much stuff in there I am hoping I can figure this out and not have to enter it all. Help!
Read the User Tip that razmee209 linked for you in the post above. If nothing in there works, there May be something on your iPad that is corrupt. Backup the iPad, restore to factory settings, and them restore the backup. If that doesn't fix it, restore as new and download all of your purchased content again.

Trying to Install latest version of Adobe with no luck
I just purchased a new iMac running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2. When I go to the adobe site to check my version of adobe it says I have 9.0.124.0. I follow the instructions for dowloading and running the uninstaller and I get a notice that the uninstall was successful. I reboot then return to the adobe page to see if the unisnstall was successful but the old 9.0.124.0 is still there. Any ideas why I can't install the latest player?
Adobe is a company name, not a product. Do you mean Flash Player? Or Shockwave Player?

my ipod touch says "activation required, Connect to itunes" i restored it with on my itunes and it seems to be working again, after i tried connecting to my wifi with no luck i reset it, and again it pops back "activation required, connect to itunes" i restored again, its a non ending cycle, and it makes no sense having my ipod and i cannot connect to the internet with it, can someone please help with this issue?

When logged into Yahoo, the built in IM box feature never pops up. My contacts lists is shown, my IM received indicator flashes in the Yahoo tab when I receive an IM, but no IM box appears. IM box also doesnt appear if I try to initiate a chat by clicking on a contact name. I tried putting Yahoo in popup exceptions list with no luck. Seems the feature stopped working after the last update. The same feature works fine when using IE so I assume it isnt an antivirus or firewall issue. Use windows 7 & avast antivirus.

How to merge one library into another? Followed directions with no luck.
3.4.3 library add/merge problem. 13"rMBP trying to add (in this case) a 900MB library into my larger 200GB library. I have tried dragging and using the menu items with no luck. The pop-up display says merging and when done I don't see the new project in the larger library. Right before the operation is complete I see the project (library) title fly from the project list back to the finder. Very confusing. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this problem. Thanks.
LelandDoes the library that you want to to merge into your other library contain images or projects that already are in your main library? In that case you may not see a new project, but the new images may be merged into the older projects.
Or are all images in the library that you want to merge are new images? Is the file size of your Aperture library larger after merging?
There has been a buggy behaviour reported, that merging does not work, if all new images have been imported from the Photo Stream. -
3 way SLI bridge connection works with only 2 GPU's
NF980=G65 Mobo.
I've read at least one post here a while back about somebody having a problem with a jumpy or flashing screen when in SLI mode with 2 GPU's. He stated that he tried using 2 ribbon connections & that fixed the problem.
Well, I'd like to report that I have 2 GTX 260 GPU's installed in SLI mode & they each have 2 ribbon connections.
This made me wonder if I can use the solid 3 way SLI bridge connection instead of only one ribbon.
Answer= Yes,, it works,, & it seems that I do have a faster transfer rate when I swap pages from one page to another.
Example. When I play my favorite online games I always use Ventrilo or Teamspeak2 VOIP applications to talk to my friends & team mates during game play. If I need to see who is on Ventrilo, I use the windows key to swap or change the screen back & forth from the game screen to the Ventrilo screen. I notice that the transfer rate or the time it takes to change screens is almost instant using the 3 way SLI bridge with my 2 duel ribbon connection GTX 260's. Try it if you have GPU's like this. [SOLVED]bridge connection to container with static IP
I have been messing for many days now trying to do a clean setup for a bridge br0 for a linux container managed with systemd-nspawn.
I run a custom kernel (as I need user space set) 3.13.5-1, systemd-git. The container boots fine. This container is a test server and so aimed at various network services, basically http, ftp, ssh,smtp. This will then be bind to a domain name. Thus I need to "cleanly" separate the container network traffic from my host network one. My idea is then to give each one a specific static IP.
First question : is it correct to give two IP on the same network or shall I create a sub-network for the container ? (I am looking for a simple configuration).
I loaded the needed iptable modules as they are not loaded at boot.

The two following profiles do the job :
