Trying to burn a CD and it now won't eject

Hi, I've seen others on the forum have had problems ejecting CDs. I was trying to burn a CD from iTunes and about half way through the burn it stalled out (stuck on burning one song). I tried to just stop and eject it, but no dice. The CD doesn't show up on iTunes or on a new Finder window or the desktop. I've tried all the suggestions others have made on here (holding down trackpad button on restart, holding down commandfunction+of and typing in "eject CD", etc) but none have worked. Everytime I restart it I can hear the CD in the drive, but again, the computer isn't recognizing that it's in there. Am I stuck with it in there or can I get it out? the one thing I haven't tried is resetting the PMU, which made me too nervous to do since I didn't want to jack up my computer. Any other suggestions out there?

If you have a Retina model then you don't have a built in Superdrive, it would be external. As far as I know the holding down of the trackpad to Force Eject a CD/DVD disc from the drive only works on models that have built in CD/DVD drives. So you'll need to take ther drive apart to get the disc out.
More than likely your external Superdrive has failed in some way, like the moter that is used to take in and eject the disc has failed.
In the future buy a new DVD drive that is a tray load design. Any brand will work with your Mac. It does not have to have the Apple name on it to work properly on any Mac computer.

iDVD can only use your startup hard disk for the "scratch space" it needs for calculations during the encoding process. 25 GB is a good average requirement, but a large project (3 or 4 hours of content) might require more.
To free up space, you will have to move items to an external hard drive and/or delete items you no longer want.
Please note that iDVD can't use and external hard drive for this "scratch space".

My main hard drive only has a few hundred Mb left on it so i bought a 1 Tb external hard drive and want to know how to make iDVD use the space on the external hard drive instead trying to use the main hard drive. Yes - This is important.
Free Space - Must be on the Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk and can not be used on any other.
My safe level is a minimum of 25Gb free space - to let iDVD and Mac OS run OK.
This is due to that Mac OS X is in reality UNIX and there by needs lot's of temporary space for temp. files and so does the application iDVD. And this can not be addressed elsewhere.
So to free up space - one thing is to move iMovie Events to an external hard disk BUT THIS MUST BE DONE Right Else all can be lost ! !
• Never move or adjust any folders Named - iMovie Events or iMovie Projects - on Desktop/Finder - links will breake and can be hard to impossibly to heal. ALL movings must be done within iMovie Application (it goes for iMovie'08 to 11)
• External Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will NOT WORK FOR VIDEO - nearly everything else BUT NOT VIDEO.

I am trying to use Adobe Color and the screen won't load. All I get is the 4 spinning squares in the center of the screen. I Am using a Mac. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
- Reset all settings

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Help! Took mac to store today as DVD stuck in drive- 3 hour round trip!!! Told it was fixed and it now won't even switch on :( I press the on button and all I get is a continuos loading symbol and then it shuts down . Worse state than it was before :( :(

Oh ok - Thankyou for that. I will be ringing them tomorrow and I will not be happy ! And I'm hoping they can suggest what I'm suppose to do about getting it back to them as I can't take it in myself. SO so angry!!! Does people getting it back in a worse state happen often? :| do read these discussion boards? I hope they do!!!

Safari and mail now won't launch

I have done something very silly. I run 10.3.9 and downloaded and installed Safari 3 not realising it wasn't compatible. It was allowed to install indicating the install was successful. However Safari and mail now won't launch. Have I lost the apps and is there anything I can do to get them back, particularly mail?

Click here and try resetting that account’s password.
That Apple ID is stored inside each of those applications. If you can’t get back into it, you’ll need to delete and redownload all of them, which may require repurchasing paid ones.

Trying to burn a DVD and it's taken me all day...

I'm trying to burn a f@cking DVD and it's taken me all day... Way to be "user friendly" Apple; Why get rid of the ability to burn DVD's? What's the point? Now I've spent $20 on a 3rd party app that doesn't work... Somebody please help me out? Much appreciated!

Me no mindreader - so I can not even guess what
• program You used
• material You feed it with - Video Codecs
So You need to tell so much more.
Else
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
• iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
• DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
• Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
• Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

When you get through to the final screen:

Keith nailed the title explanation, iTunes sends some information to a database which checks "fingerprints" of your song against what it has on record. Once you can mount your disc, you can send the information about your specific album to gracenote through iTunes (it's likely under the Advanced menu, but look around for the option to submit info).
as for your CDs not working, its possible you got a bad run of discs, it does happen ocasionally. if you can get another batch (and especially brand) of CD to try you may find that that one works.
