Trying to buy a Solitaire Game for Mac.

BestBuy told me to go to the APPS Store on the Apple site. I did find some Solitaire apps but it looked
to me like they are all for phones? Are they one and the same? I would prefer to just buy a CD vs downloading
but the only CD's I find have all sorts of Arcade games. Anyone know where I can get a Solitaire CD? Thanks

If you access the Appstore from an iPhone or iPad it will show applications for the iOS platform. When I access the Appstore from my Mac and search for Solitaire games I find plenty for the OS X platform, many are free - e.g. Solitaire!, Free Solitaire 3D, Full Deck Solitaire. Look in the Information pane on the right of the Appstore window to see what platform the game is for. For something as basic as a solitaire game I would just download one of the free ones, no need to buy a CD. I doubt you'd be able to purchase a CD that was just a solitaire game. As you've found most will have a variety of games on.

Why are there so few games for Mac OS X?

Yes, I do know the answer, because everybody writes software for Windows.
But aren't we at a point where times are changing? Many people exchange their PC's for a Mac nowadays, and the number of Linux (which is basically the same under the hood) is rapidly growing too. Those people like to play games too, don't they?
Does anyone see some light in the distance for companies porting their games to the Mac too?

Agreed. You have to remember everything is drive by economics in our capitalistic society so games are written for the OS that has largest market penetration and most likely to return huge profit and currently that is Windows. That is also why one of the most famous game programmers, John Carmack, just recently rewrote some of his games for iPhone/ipod touch and made quite a nice profit from his own account.

That is not to say that Mac's can't be used as game machines since Apple actually has a webpage dedicated exactly to this you can check out:

So in a nutshell to answer the OP question the reason you see fewer games on mac's is because it's not profitable. As you can see if there is no technical limitations writing games like Doom3 for iphone there is none for the mac.
I know I've personally not bought a macosx game since I also have a pc and use that for games so I'm not helping the business case for more games for mac. Vote with your pocket and go out and buy more mac only games if you want to see more for the mac.

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1. The hardware prevent unsing a higher version.

Thanks Kurt! I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close. I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank. In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well. Thanks for your help!

I just bought a new iMac and I would like to buy Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I am NOT interested in the monthly subscription for Creative Cloud, so please don't even try and sell that to me. I was told by the place I bought my new iMac that Adobe would still sell me Photoshop CS6 if I contacted them. Since I was unable to find a phone number to call, I thought I would try my luck on this forum. Again, I was told that Adobe would send me a link or something like that where I can buy and download Photoshop CS6. Since my new iMac does NOT have a CD/DVD-ROM drive, I would only be able to download the software. I understand that the monthly subscription for Creative Cloud is the newest way of using Photoshop, but I am not interested in that at all. I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance with this matter. Thank you for your time and I anxiously await a response.

Use the Migration Assistant(it'll put the data into a different user account if you've already created one), or drag them and their data through Ethernet, wireless, Target Disk mode, or through an external drive, or reinstall them from the original source.

I assume that you are using Mac operating system 10.4.11, as your profile indicates.
The instructions that you referenced are for use with AirPort Utility....not AirPort Admin Utility.
Suggest that you download and install AirPort Utility 5.4.2 for Mac , which will run on 10.4.11.
Also noticed that the instructions do not tell you that the hard drive should be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to work with the AirPort Extreme, but they should.

You are running Windows, via Boot Camp, you would buy from Amazon or direct if you need Office for Windows.
If you are running Mac there is Office for Mac 2011, again, try Amazon and other outlets.
Some can get along with Pages and Numbers, though others need the actual Word, Excel etc.
I gave up on OpenOffice and its cousins but those are other options.

Splitting iTunes by country really is lame, I can buy anything anywhere on Ebay with the same credit card, thats the nature or eCommerce, do it all the time. You can ONLY buy frome the itunes store of your country of residence ( proven by the issuing country of your credit card AND the valid billing address) AND ONLY while you are physiclally located inside the borders of that country.
You cannot use other countrys itunes stores.

You might check the computer software section at a local Half-Price Books store, sometimes they have some new in-box Mac OS 9 software.
Some kid games that I used to have were Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, and the Backyard Sports series from Humongous Entertainment, they run pretty well on an old G3.
