Trying to buy Lion os thru app store

I got an i tunes gift voucher to buy lion os for my mac book pro and when i go into the app store my credit show sufficient but it still asks me to pay with credit card!
Can i use my credit that shows in my app store to buy it or do i have to use a credit card?  Even tho my credit shows enough!!
Ever time i click to buy it  i get asked for credit card details!

Apple verifies your billing information regardless of whether or not you use a gift card or charge to your credit card. They do this in case the amount on the gift card is not sufficient and the balance is charged to your card.
Click Account under Quick Links. Click the Edit button to the right of Payment Information. Make sure your billing information is correct including the expiration date and the security code is available then click Done.
Now try "redeeming" your gift voucher to purchase Lion.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

I have Snow leopard, 10.6.8 on my iMac, I just tried to install Lion from the App store, but during proces, the install stops after one minute saying: "software might be damaged". I downloaded the software again, same thing. What must I do to install Lion? I have still 487GB free.

Quit all other programs and open Disk Utility
Select your "MacintoshHD" drive on the left and indented and click Erase > Erase Free Space > Zero and let it complete.
Also run First Aid > Repair Disk and permisisons.
If Repair disk gives a error, you have a bigger problem, if repair permisisons fixes and completes, even if it fixes the same thing twice if you click it again, it's ok. Apple just changed things.
You should be able to download the file sucessfully this time, if not, take it to another location with better/faster internet.

  • If I buy Lion in the app store, can I ''reset'' my whole macbook (instead of doing this with the cd that comes with the macbook)?

If I buy Lion in the app store, can I ''reset'' my whole macbook (instead of doing this with the cd that comes with the macbook)?
With ''reset'' I mean, repair because it is from 2007 and so slow. So that all the data and programmes are gone and I can start over with Lion!?

You have a choice. You can start by erasing the drive and reinstalling Snow Leopard prior to purchasing and downloading the Lion installer. Or you can purchase and download the installer, save the Lion installer, create a bootable Lion USB flash drive installer, boot from the Lion installer, erase the hard drive, and install Lion. I would suggest the second choice:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button or quit the installer. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.
    To install Lion from scratch:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot From Lion USB Flash Drive:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the USB flash drive then click on the arrow button below the icon.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.

My account is declined when I tried to buy an application from app stores

    Hi ...
Make sure the account number is typed in correctly as well as the expiration date and security code which is located on the back of your card.
And read here >  iTunes Store: My credit card's security code or zip code does not match my bank's records
Billing policy is the same for the iTunes and well as the Mac App Stores.

  • If i buy lion on the app store can i do an online reboot? (comman+R)

ad to restart my macbook but im not the first owner. got it off craigs list. guy had his username and password but was locked out the main account (admin/master) i had leopard and snow but it wasnt letting me boot from disk. idk why. so i did some research and i followed a guy to whipe the HD and internally reboot from the laptop itself with lion but he never mentioned i had to sign in. well low and behold, my apple ID i use for my phone was never used to originally purchased the laptop... SO... If i purches the osx lion on the app store using my apple ID would it work? let me know please!

You can purchase Lion on line from the Apple online store. (Lion is no longer listed in the APP store)
But first you have to install the original OSX, update it to 10.6.8, and then install Lion.  All OSX's before Lion come on disks and cannot be downloaded like Lion.
Since I do not know the exact MBP you have, if it came with Leopard (10.5), you then would also have to purchase the Snow Leopard disk (10.6), install it, update to 10.6.8 and then it would be ready for Lion, Mt. Lion or Mavericks ( assuming it qualifies for those OSXs).
    Ciao.

  • What do I do when trying to download Lion from the app store and the icon says "waiting" and then disappears.

I am trying to update a new iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion. When I click on install in the app store, the LIon icon jumps down into the dock and nothing happens. The message above the icon is "waiting." Eventually, the icon disappears. How can I install Lion?

  • I just bought 2 $15 iTunes cards to buy Lion and the App Store says I have insufficient funds.

In the app store it says Lion costs 29.99. is there some taxes that I'm not aware of? I have never had a problem redeeming cards for iTunes or the App Store before.

If there isn't sufficient credit from your iTunes card then the balance is charged to your credit or debit card. If you don't have a credit card setup in your iTunes billing payment information then the purchase will not go through. Yes, taxes do apply depending on your residence.
Click Account under Quick Links right side of the Mac App Store window.
Click Edit to the right of Payment Information. If you update your billing info make sure and click Done when you are finished.

  • My Apple ID is disabled. Earlier this month fraudulent charges were made, and have now been resolved. But when I tried to buy something in the app store, it says my Apple ID is disabled.

I have gone to the apple website and changed my password already. I logged in on settings on my phone with my new password, and a box popped up saying I needed to verify my credit card. When I go there, it says I am disabled still and I can't do anything. Then when I go to the app store, it still says my Apple ID has been disabled. Please help! I am technology impaired...

  • Can't buy lion thru app store

I am new to Mac, and trying to buy Lion upgrade thru app store, but I must be an idiot because all I can see is a page with references and no "buy" button...what am I doing wrong?
Simply getting set up on App Store with my apple ID was a NIGHTMARE ...never did send confirm, after many attempts, somehow got it to work...and these guys are the wizards of making things easy...hmmm...maybe I am using the wrong computer?

Open App Store and sign in with your Apple ID. Search for Lion then purchase and download it - $30.00. Before you do see the following:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. • I can't download Lion from the App Store.

I am trying to purchase Lion from the App Store on my MacBook Pro. Every time I click on the "Buy App" button, I have to log-in 3 times (twice to verify billing info), and then the "waiting" wheel next to the forward and back buttons just keeps spinning. I have checked "Purchases" but it is not there. I have restarted my computer but that didn't help. I have made sure that my computer is compatible with Lion, but I still have this problem. Any ideas?

I had double-checked all the info when it asked me to verify, but after you made the suggestion, I decided to go into my account first, enter my security code, check that all the other info was correct, and retry. This time it worked! The strange thing is, all the info was correct all the other times too. But thank you; I wouldn't have gone into my account first if you hadn't suggested I check the info.

  • Will downloading Lion from the App Store (previously purchased) while on Mountain Lion erase my current OS?

    All,
I'm trying to download Lion from the App Store to make a bootable external hard drive. My concern is that the app store gives me a warning: "OS X 10.8 is already installed on this computer. Are you sure you want to download OS X 10.7?"
I'm not sure what this means and I would prefer not to risk erasing my current operating system. Does anyone have an idea?
    Thank you in advance.

Futhermore, I can't believe that the App Store allows you to download OS X Lion while you are in OS X Mountain Lion, because normally the App Store gives an error because you are running a newer Mac OS X.
If you just download OS X Lion, you won't lose OS X Mountain Lion, because just the installer will be downloaded onto the Applications folder. When the download finishes, the installer will show up, so close it, and use Lion Diskmaker to create an external drive with OS X Lion > http://liondiskmaker.com
As you are running OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make an external drive with OS X Mountain Lion instead, if you can. That's because probably you will want to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion and not Lion
