Trying to catch a lion!

I am trying to upgrade to lion.  The website said I needed to have 10.6.8, I have 10.6.2.  When I update system, it resets, prompts me for my password and everything, but I am still stuck at 10.6.2.  The next step is to go to mac app to dl'd it.  I have no mac app, and the only instructions is to get it by upgrading to 10.6.8.  Please HELP!
Thanks.

Download the 10.6.8 combo updater from the Apple Support site and apply it.

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
    We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

  • App Store keeps Crashing when trying to purchase Mountain Lion.

    Help! I've tried everything. I am using a Mac OS X 10.6.8. I am trying to buy Mountain Lion off the app store to update my OS so I can purchase Pages but everytime I open the app store and click buy the color wheel starts spinning and the app store won't respond.I have to force quit everytime. I tried to purchase some free apps to see if they would work and I'm getting the exact same problem. I've researched several solutions and have had no luck. I called apple and they said it could be because everyone was updating their iphone so try at non peak hours I did that and still no luck. I don't think thats the problem anyway. Any solutions?

    You could also try enabling the debug menu for the App Store, using the terminal command below:
    In there it gives you the option to delete cookies and reset the app... This might help you.
    Nobody knows for sure what these options do, but it has never caused me any problems. However, be very careful not to click around too much, it may damage your machine.
    Quit App Store.app
    Open Terminal
    Type "defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true" (without the quotations)
    Hit ENTER
    Relaunch App Store.app
    Locate Menu and select the appropriate topic
    Close & relaunch App Store.
    Fingers crossed it will work for you.

  • Help! 13" macbook pro will not boot.  Tried running disk repair from HD recovery, not repairable.  Trying to reinstall OSx Lion, says disc is locked.  Do I have to erase the drive and lose everything?  I also have Bootcamp installed, will boot to Win OK

    Hotrodmkviii,
    try rebooting in Recovery mode, but when you reach the Mac OS X Utilities menu, run Terminal (from Utilities in the menu bar) instead. Inside the Terminal window, give it the following command, and then press the Return key:
    diskutil list
    Please include in your reply the output from that command.

  • Getting S.M.A.R.T. when trying to install Mountain lion. Hard drive works pretty well. I understand that many users have been facing the same issue. Has apple patched it yet?

    I'm getting S.M.A.R.T. error when trying to install Mountain lion. Hard drive works pretty well despite the Failing status. I understand that many users have been facing the same issue. My hard drive was/is working perfectly. Has Apple patched it yet?
    Has someone found a solution which is not replacing the hard drive which works just fine? Or Is anyone aware of a procedure that can force the installation despite the S.M.A.R.T error? Below details of my hard drive
    Thanks

    If you haven't done so, run Disk Utility  /Applications/Utilities

    The drive may be ok at the moment, but that's not to say the drive may fail at anytime.
    Hopefully you have all your important data backed up just in case.

  • I am trying to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.

    I just tried to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message, yes, even after I reboot: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
    I don't understand what this means? Is my MacBookPro too old to work with Mountain Lion?

  • Iam trying to buy OS Lion to my Imac but i can not buy  because its saying Mac OSX 10.7 requires at least 2 GB of memomie and mine has 1 GB what can i do?

    iam trying to buy OS Lion to my Imac but i can not buy  because its saying Mac OSX 10.7 requires at least 2 GB of memomie and mine has 1 GB what can i do?

    If it's just a question of memory, you can buy and install more. It could also be that your iMac is just not compatile with Lion.
    Minimum requirements for Lion are:
    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
    Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Trying to catch mouse double click

    Using come code in the API 1.3 documentation, I created a JList and am trying to catch when a user double clicks on an item in the list. I have the following snippet of code:
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {
    if ((e.getClickCount() == 3) && (e.getSource() == list1)) {
    int index1 = list1.locationToIndex(e.getPoint());
    System.out.println("Double clicked from the left list on Item " + index1);
    When I double click on an item in list1, it prints out the output line twice as in:
    Double clicked from the left list on Item 1
    Double clicked from the left list on Item 1
    How can I get it to run the code only once. I'm not sure why it's running it twice. Any Ideas would be helpful. Thanks....

    I've used similar procedure with success in JDK1.3.1. Without seeing the rest of your code, the only thing left for you to experiment with is to call the consume() method if the count is greater than 1. I did notice that Java mouse event handler leaves much to be desired. For example, the mouseentered and mouseexited events kept getting fired even tho the mouse has entered and never leave.

  • Anyone has tried upgrading to Mountain Lion on MacBookPro5,5?

    So, yeah, as I asked on the topic – Has anybody tried upgrading to Mountain Lion on MacBookPro5,5?
    If you've upgraded, I would like to know these information
    How long is the Battery life?
    Is everything smooth as on Lion?
    Any troubles on upgrading?

    First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
    The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion.
    The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion.

    You can use iCloud with 10.7.5. You do not need to upgrade to Yosemite. You should provide a minimum of 15 GBs of free space or 10% of the hard drive's capacity, whichever is greater.
    Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
    You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
    You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
    Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Trying to catch Push-To-Talk button to show a message

    Hello,
    I'm trying to catch the PTT button when someone hit it in my program. Just a simple thing like say "Hi!" when someone press PTT button. But i can't figured out how I could do that!
    thanks

    shouldn't u be returning
      return anyRecords;instead of
      return true; // after the endif????ur method name is confusing I hope this Mysearch() is a TYPO :)
    now that mySearch() returns a boolean depending on whether the query returns something or else u can compare it in jsp using jstl: tags c:equal or c:choose c:when test="" etc etc or as u have done before escape into java itselt using <% // some code in here to get the value from method mySearch()%>

  • While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store

    While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store.

    The Mountain Lion installer looks at your internal drive to make certain that it's error-free before continuing installation. You should have an application named "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" in your Applications folder now so you shouldn't have to download it again. Do this...
    Boot to your Lion recovery partition by holding down both the Command and the R keys while booting. Open Disk Utility from the Recovery partition and select your hard drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it) and click on Verify Disk. If you come up with any errors, click on Repair Disk. At the end of the cycle you will get a message that the disk was successfully repaired or a message that the hard drive could not be repaired.
    If you're able to repair the disk, just reboot as normal and open the "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" and the installation will proceed. If Disk Utility was unable to repair the disk, you need to get to your local Apple Store as soon as possible so that they can see if the disk is salvageable or beyond repair.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

    Download Mac OS X 10.9 from the Mac App Store. If it's incompatible with your computer, Mac OS X 10.8 will be as well.
