Trying to cet up configuration of new 303 phone - asls for username and password

Hi
(UK user here)
I have just had installed a BT VOIP line on my broadband.
I have bought a Cisco SPA 303 phone to use on it.  This is plugged in and I can see that it is connecting to the DHCP server etc.
When i use the browser based utility to setup the phone (i.e. I type in 192.168.1.68 - the phone's IP address) it opens the simple utility page on the phone OK, but as soon as i try to save any of the SIP information to make the phone work, it requests a username ("spa user") and password when I want to setup the phone with the domains etc.
In documentation and online here I can only find reference to 'admin' and 'admin' as username and password, but these don't work.
I have done a factory reset on the phone menu; in the browser it still asks for username and password.
Help please?  Or should I just bite the bullet and order the BT provided pre-configured handset instead?

ACTUALLY Now realise the question you ask is different from the solution/issue I report on here, that after I unlocked my Cisco phones they still wouldn't work properly with the BT VOIP service (I say service but really it should be called a 'disgrace').  See below for what i remember about unlocking:
Oh, I didn''t really solve it - turned out that the BT service uses proprietary code in their VOIP service, so we could never get the Ciscos set up properly. Furthermore the solution BT had sold me was duff, they hadn't listened to my needs and requirements (one of which was multiple extensions able to transfer calls etc, which the simple BT service couldn't do).
Instead I cancelled the BT service and got back all the line charges etc as they agreed it had been misrepresented.  I then subscribed to a VOIP service provider called Voipfone, based in London Docklands, who got me up and running in about 20 minutes from start to finish, using the Ciscos!!!  I cannot praise their levels of service and knowledge enough, I have converted all our company's lines into VOIP and use them, it is cheap and excellent.  If you want more info just give me a shout.
Admin username and password.
I am struggling to remember what I did now.  I think it was making a complete factory reset, after which I think there is no password you just point browser at <ip address>/admin
But how did I do a reset when it is protected by the password that has been set?  I think I found a series of commands to put in the phone directly (rather than via browser) to reset it.  Sorry for my confusion but it was over a year ago.  It is certainly do-able, because I managed it.
But I stand by my answer above, seriously, bin BT and go to VOIPfone (or another 3rd party offering full hosted sip, my experience with them has so far been excellent.

New Imac. I get rid off login password from security and accounts and restart. Now it asks for username and password and it's not acepting anything. Any ideas?

First, reset your password as follows.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.
If you're being prompted to authenticate when making changes to files inside your home folder, continue as follows.
    Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

Hi. Updates from apple come from software update or the app store and usually  display what the update is. If you have a newer operating system you can go to the app store my account and look for any updates. Or give you a triangle to click for more info. The percentage for battery is at the battery icon upper right Click on the icon and a drop down will let you choose show and percentage.

  • Sites keep asking for username and password and say "restricted". I've tried numerous fixes and am not using a proxy.

    Hi,
I wonder if someone could help me please.
I have an issue that extends across my browsers – Firefox and Internet Explorer (Firefox is default) and both are the latest version possible. My machine is fully patched (Win7 Pro x64 SP2).
The issue is as shown below:
'The site xxxx is requesting a user name and password. The site says: "restricted"’
The happens for some (not all) sites and I have to click “cancel” twice to remove the dialogue box, and then the site appears and works normally for a little while. The box will come up again if I attempt to click any links within the same site. It’s incredibly annoying and has been frustrating me for the past month. Here’s what I have tried so far, but hasn’t resolved the issue:<br />
    <br />
    • Clearing Firefox cache/history manually (set to never remember anything)<br />
    • Tried checking/unchecking private browsing<br />
    • Made sure “accept 3rd party cookies” is enabled<br />
    • Tried all checkboxes for “no proxy”, “use system proxy” and “auto detect system proxy” etc<br />
    • Disabled all add-ons/extensions within Firefox and retried<br />
    • Performed the option to “Reset Firefox” to its default state from within “Troubleshooting”<br />
    • Completely uninstalled and re-installed Firefox (latest version)<br />
    • Went to the URL "about:config" and searched for the key "network.websocket.enabled" and switched it to "false".<br />
    • Went to the URL "about:config" and searched for the key "network.proxy.share_proxy_settings" and switched it to "false".<br />
    • Went to the URL "about:config" and searched for the key "network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies" and switched it to "false".<br />
    • Run a full AV scan in safe mode (with latest definition files) using Avira Antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy, MalwareBytes, Super Antispyware and performed full optimisations via Registry Mechanic, Tune-up Utilities 2013 and CC Cleaner (with CC Extender installed). No threats found.<br />
None of the above has helped. The problem is only recent so I’m not entirely sure what’s changed.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I seem to have exhausted my ability to diagnose the fault via the god of Google 

    Malachor

It is always best to avoid using such external cleaners as you can never be sure if they aren't corrupting files and it is usually not worth the trouble to repair damage if that is the case. A lot of the SQLite database files use a complicated table setup that can easily get corrupted.

  • Will the new version have capability to allow me to use Fingerprint for username and password entry?

I need to HP SimplePass Identity protection. This use of fingerprint technology allows sign in to websites by swipe of fingerprint and supports multiple users. Firefox supported that technology at one time but dropped support. Will the new version support it again? I quit using Firefox when the support ended and will not use it again until that functionality is restored.

HP Simplepass never stopped working for Firefox. I'm using it on Nightly 31.0a1 and it's working fine. If it does stop working, then it's HP's fault for not pushing an update to their extension.

  • Linksys keep prompting for username and password when trying to forward port

As when we want to access the linksys router homepage we enter 192.168.1.1, and than we enter our user name and password. This is a normal step. But lately when i wanna forward a port and change the last 3 digit of the ip address, eg. to 101, i keep getting a promt for my user name and password but when i enter it correctly, it sill prompt me no matter whats. I used to forward port with no problem but do not know why this problem started to arise. Can anyone help me with this?
Btw i am using Linksys B router. THANKS

were u using the default password ?? because there is a possibility that someone in your neighbourhood must have connected to the wireless network and changed the router login password..
apart from this i don't see any reason of the old router password not working ..

  • Firefox with proxy configured keeps on asking for username and password

This was asked a while ago, but no solution every posted.
I use FF at work with a proxy. When I upgraded to FF28, an "old" problem came back - FF constantly pops up a window saying the Proxy is asking for a username and password. I did nit have this problem with the previous version of FF. It doesn't seem to remember the password, and will ask several times for the same page. Has gotten so disruptive I've moved over to Chrome for now.
Thoughts on why this issue started again with FF28? Thoughts on how I can get it to stop and make the browser usable again?

  • Configure a Cisco router with Username and Password.

    Hello Guys,
Am quite new in cisco and i need to configure an 891 cisco router, can someone please show me step by step configuration commands for configuring Username and Secret Password.I would like the router to ask for "Username"and " Password" anytime i want to login the router through telnet.I also want to know if i have to erase the default configurations on the router first, before i start the configuration, and how it should be done in other not to loose the router whiles working on it.Thanks for your usual quick responds.
    Regards,
    Eben.

    Hello Eben,
Peter has suggested to use SSH because of the fact that telnet data is sent in clear text, so someone with the right tools could easily find your password and your device could/would be compromised. It is security best practice. SSH is encrypted.
Technically speaking you do not need to change the hostname / domain name. But majority of Cisco documentation follow this method.
In case you are interested on how to do this without change... see below.
    Router(config)#
Router(config)#crypto key generate rsa modulus 1024
% Please define a hostname other than Router.
Router(config)#crypto key generate rsa modulus 1024 label CISCO
The name for the keys will be: CISCO
% The key modulus size is 1024 bits
% Generating 1024 bit RSA keys, keys will be non-exportable...[OK]
    Router(config)#
    *Jul 11 13:27:51.431: %SSH-5-ENABLED: SSH 1.99 has been enabled
    Router(config)#
The normal cases just as shown in Cisco documentation, the parser (without a label on the crypto key) would force us to change the hostname, create a domain name. I think the domain name is there to put a label on the keys.
    Router(config)#crypto key generate rsa general-keys modulus 1024
% Please define a hostname other than Router.
    Router(config)#crypto key generate rsa
% Please define a hostname other than Router.
    Router(config)#hos
    Router(config)#hostname ISR
    lexnetISR(config)#crypto key generate rsa general-keys modulus 1024
    % Please define a domain-name first.
    ISR(config)#ip domain name net.com
    ISR(config)#exit
    ISR(config)#crypto key generate rsa general-keys modulus 1024
The name for the keys will be: ISR.net.com
% The key modulus size is 1024 bits
% Generating 1024 bit RSA keys, keys will be non-exportable...[OK]

I just purchased an iMac and upon setting it up I initiated an username and a password.  Unfortunately I didn't write it down and now I'm trying to add software and the system won't let me because I forget that info.  How do I reissue a new usernam and password?

Boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password.

  • Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?

I run Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. Downloaded and installed Tbird 31.1.1 today.
Logged in to my Gmail account using copy and paste of my username and password from a file. I enabled IMAP. Logged out of my Gmail account.
Turned off Windows Firewall. My task bar is red at me with 1 important message: Windows Security Center Service (Important) The Windows Security Center service is turned off.
I have no antivirus software installed other than Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE.) I went to Control Panel | Programs and looked, finding nothing. This was to be expected because I haven't installed antivirus software before.
Restarted in Safe Mode with networking, which seems to turn off MSE.
Back in TB, I clicked Create a new account: Email. Entered my name, Google E-mail address, Google password. I used copy and paste to enter the same Gmail address and password that worked for my login minutes previously. It autopopulated the fields. I clicked Done. After a few seconds, got the error message:
Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?
So with no antivirus software, no firewall, and restarted in safe mode, what is the problem?
    Thanks.

I tried again today without success. I have been able to get Tbird to download mail from a non-Gmail provider but not send messages with this non-Gmail account.
I have enabled 2-factor authentication in Gmail for this account. I followed the instructions from Toad Hall at 9/20/14 1:28 PM here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1020778
I got the password from Google and went to Tbird. I went to Tools | Options | Security | Passwords and deleted all the Gmail entries. I shut down and restarted Tbird. I highlighted the Gmail account I created and hit F5. Nothing at all happened. I deleted the account and tried to recreate the account again. I got the familiar error message that Tbird cannot set up the Gmail account. So now what?

  • Configuration could not be verified - My username and password are correct!

I am trying to add a second gmail account to Thunderbird, but without success. The first addition went flawlessly.
Now that I'm attempting the second, I am confronted with the error message "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?"
Answer = no. I have verified them by logging into gmail.com with IE several times, and made sure to log out afterwards to ensure no conflict. I do not use two-step verification with either accounts. I have tried to 'fool' google's email servers by capitalizing the outgoing SMTP letters (so as to differentiate from the previous login smtp letters), but thunderbird does not permit capitalization.
I have not found any other *solved* forum posts that can help me with this problem. I'm running Windows 8.1 and Thunderbird 31.2.0.
This is a call for help.

Same problem for me, too.  It happens on my iPad, iPhone, and iMac.  Weird because I have great Internet connectivity and I can log into and view my iTunes account.  I've downloaded three new apps with no problem.  But my iPad shows 14 apps needing updates, my iPhone shows 2, and my iMac shows 1.  In all cases, clicking on "update" and entering the password results in the message, "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".  It's the same result across multiple WiFi networks, even after resetting them.
I'll see if someone at the Genius Bar can help and then I will repost.
