What type network is yu router set up for? The 4G iPod can only connect and see 2.4 GHZ networl like B, G and the 2,4 GHz N. There is also a 5 GHz N but the iPod will not even seethat network.

  • Trying to connect to my router through Wi-Fi.

I am trying to connect to my router. My Ipod Touch is connecting and all the settings look correct. When I click on Safari, ITunes, or YouTube it goes to the screen tries to connect then returns to the home screen.
Can someone help solve this problem.
I have tried unplugging my router for two minutes and I also renewed my lease. My router is a actiontec.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
That sounds more like the Safari application is crashing rather than a WiFi issue. Try restoring the +iPod touch+ software:

  • Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme but error says Ethernet unplugged.

Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme and error says Ethernet Unplugged.

So, AirPort Utility running on the Windows Vista desktop can "see" the AirPort Extreme and displays its icon, but gives that error message at some point in the setup process? How far does it get?
Other questions that may help me (or somebody else) understand your problem better:
Which of the pieces were verified as working before the introduction of the AirPort Extreme?
Did you have the desktop computer attached to the Verizon GT704WGB with one of the Ethernet cables you are now trying to use? Which one? Have you tried the other one to be sure it also works?
Are you using the same port on the GT704WGB? Have you tried another one?
If the desktop has multiple ethernet ports, are you using the same one?
Had you done any special configuration of the ethernet port on the Verizon GT704WGB to get it to work with your desktop?
What category ethernet cable are you using? 3? 5? 5e? 6?

  • Connecting Modem to Router

I just got Infinity 1 installed today. The modem is next to the master socket and is 10m away from the HomeHub router which is under the TV.
The default installation consisted of a normal ethernet cable from the modem to a square ethernet wall socket, then 10m of thick white cat5/6 cable to another ethernet wall socket, and then another normal ethernet cable to the HomeHub router. Seemed a bit over complicated for what I needed. I got them to not screw the wall sockets to the wall or pin the cable to the wall so it was more flexible in future.
So when they had left I tried connecting the modem and router using a single 10m shielded ethernet cable I already had and it seems it has synced at 39.9Mbps when I run the BT Retail speed test. That is the maximum I can expect.
Do the ethernet wall sockets do anything special or can I just replace that set up with the single ethernet cable permanently?

This is what they originally set up between the modem and router. Three cables. Obviously the sockets would normally be screwed to the wall next to the modem and TV and the white cat cable pinned around skirting boards and door frames. For me they were just lying on the carpet floor so seemed a bit unnecessary for what I need.
I've just replaced it with the single cat5 cable now. Wanted to just make sure I wasn't going to mess up any bedding in period by doing so. First day and all that.

  • Trying to connect to zyxel router

hi i'm in switzerland for the weekend and trying to connect to a zyxel p-355 router. i tried with wep 64 and 128 bit, channels 1 and 6, but couldn't connect. i then turned wireless security off altogether for a test, but still no joy which suggests the fault is not security.
i'm now connected via windows in boot camp. i'd like to get it fixed for the mac as 1) id rather use os x while i'm here and 2) my swiss friends who i'm staying with have macs and want to log on as well without having to buy windows!!
    any ideas gratefully appreciated?

    Thanks,
    mac filtering is disabled.
the problem can't be the wireless security settings as i've disabled security completely and still couldn't connect with a macbook pro and a macbook.
Like i said i can connect with windows no problem regardless of security or channel.

  • Trying to connect a wireless router to a switch

We have an 8 port router in the closet(linksys) with the cable connection and in our main room we have a five port 10/100 (By linksys) switch that connects to the system just fine all hardwired, and we have internet already working off of that.
We tried to connect the WRT54G wireless router to the switch because we asked at the store and they said if we had a switch already that's what we'd want. I changed the ip address on the new router to the 192.168.2.1, saved the settings and then tried to plug it into the switch. As soon as we plugged into the switch, anything else connected to the switch stopped getting internet. I also tried to just leave it at the default and same problem. I tried the 'change the IP address to 192.168.1.2 and disable DHCP server and then going into advanced and changing gateway to router and again, same problem. Regardless of what I do anytime I plug that wireless into the switch everything on the switch stops working.
How would we get both the switch and the router to work?

I assume that you want your wireless and your wired computers to all share the same network, and all connect to the Internet through your 8 port router in the closet.  And the 8 port router uses the 192.168.1.x  address space.  ---  is that all correct?
If so, disconnect the WRT54G from the rest of your network, then using a computer wired to the WRT54G, do the following:
    a)  set the "Local IP address"  (not the "Internet Connection Type"  address)  to 192.168.1.2    I am assuming that you are not using this fixed adddress elsewhere in your network.
    b) Leave the DHCP server set to "disabled".
    c) Wire any port from your 8 port router or switch, to any numbered port on the WRT54G.  Do not connect anything to the "Internet" port on the WRT54G.
Note that with this setup, your 8 port router will control your router settings (port forwarding, DHCP server, firewall, etc.).  Your WRT54G will only contol your wireless settings.
If you need more help, please state the model of your 8 port router and switch.

  • Airport utility is not working on Windows. I can configure Airport Expresses with the Macbook but multiple computers with Windows and the latest Airport Utility time out after trying to connect to the router for setup.

I have been trying to setup Airpot Expresses (both old and new models) for a while now with the Airpot Utility 5.6.1 for Windows without any luck. I have tried this on multiple windows machines, factory reseted the devices if I needed to, but I have not had any success since this software arrived. I see the routers on the Airport Utility UI, I click on it then try to connect to set it up. At this point, it gets stuck with a long progress bar trying to connect to the device without any success. I also have a Macbook Pro, and this device & software has had no trouble setting up the routers. The problem is, we are shipping these small routers out to customers who use Windows machines and it is vital that the user can modify the settings using Airpot Utility. I am at a loss for what to do and if we can't find any solutions, we are going to move on to a different company for the routers we ship out.

Thanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.
    Thanks really appreciating your help

  • Error code 0XB80ACAA8 on my printer, when trying to connect to my router

Dear Support, I bought the printer 2 weeks ago. It worked perfectly, but since today I get the error code 0XB80ACAA8 when I try to connect to the Router. Can you tell me where the code stands for and what to do in order to resolve this?

Hello,  Please try the below steps. remove the cartridges.Unplug the power cord from back of the pritner.power Off the wireless router.Wait for 60 seconds.plug in the power cord to the printer only.install cartridges when prompted. If issue still exits, its time to replace the printer. Now power on the wireless router. If issue still exists, then check if there is a firmware update for the router. Also change the router settings Channel = 11,  mode= B/g.  Frequency = 2.4 GHzIf issue still persists, then its time to replace the printer. Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.

  • Connect Modem, Netgear router and 2 airports

I have a modem and separate netgear wireless router supplied by comcast. Would like to set up a wireless network using 2 airport extreme base stations, each connected via ethernet to the router.
Is this possible? I assume that both airports would be in bridge mode, each connected via ethernet to the Netgear router and then the router connected to the modem?

    Welcome to the discussions!

Sure, it will work fine as you describe. You'll need to configure each AirPort Extreme to "create a wireless network" and setup security and a password for each device.
You have the option of configuring two separate wireless networks, or if you assign the exact same wireless network name, security and password to both AirPort Extremes, you will in effect create a large "extended" network.
This is called a "roaming" network because computers will automatically connect to the wireless access point with the strongest signal as they "roam" around the house. As in the above example, both AirPort Extremes would be configured in bridge mode in this type of setup.
Post back if you need any more details about this.

  • My macbook pro crashes when trying to connect to a router, my macbook pro crashes when trying to connect to a router, my macbook pro crashes when trying to connect to a router

my laptop has always connected to routers without a problem, but with one particular router, when it connects to it, the computer crashes. Also, when I turn on the computer within the range of the router, the computer will not start.

It just crashed again with nothing running but the apple website an itunes.

  • Not able to connect with my router, but other networks work ok.

I have a 2d generation iPod Touch. I can't connect to my home network that operates on a DLink DIR-628 router. However I can connect to other access points with no trouble at all. When my iPod tries to connect with my router, it asks for my password and I enter the password I think is correct, but it won't accept it. When I check the router web page there is no password visible. Does the problem lie with the Router or with the iPod Touch? I have three other computers and two wireless printers that are operating through the router with no problem at all.

    Have you tried:
    - Resetting your iPod:
    - Resetting network settings on the iPod: Setting>General>reset>Reet Network Settins
    - Powering off and then back on your router

  • Trying to connect through  Netgear

I am trying to connect via Netgear router. My Airport says connected but when I try to connect to internet it won't pull anything. Any suggestions?

I, too tried to connect through Netgear. I got the connection up and running, but the Netgear kept shutting on and off. I finally read the reviews of the new Netgear products and wound up returning it to Fryes. While I was there, I met a Fryes customer- a big corporate IP guy, and he said that a lot of companies are pushing the Netgear line, (they get big incentives) but many companies and individuals that he works with have had nothing but problems on their PCs as well as MACS. He suggested that I switch to the highest end Lynksys, (I used to have an old one). I bought the new Lynksys, installed it in about 15 minutes, and have never had even one problem with it! By the way, he was there to return a Netgear for a client as well! Good Luck, and I hope you solve your problem!

  • I'm trying to connect my AE to an ARRIS modem...

I'm trying to connect my AE to an ARRIS modem but get only a blinking amber light. The current router is a UBEE model DDW3610. It has a direct connect to a coaxial splitter. Any thoughts or help? this is driving me nuts!

On the remote? OK, I'll try it....
I tried the input selectors on the projector, itself; however, it seems to be that the MBP does not sense the Output path, not that the Epson does not detect the input path.
