Trying to connect my c4795 printer to a wireless connection

I am unable to connect my printer to the wireless router in my home.

Welcome to the HP Forums ashleyanderson8,
I see by your post that you are unable to setup the printer on the wireless network.
I can help you with this issue.
I have provided the steps for setting the printer up through Adhoc, then to Infrastructure so the printer will be on the network.
On the right bottom corner of the computer, click on the wireless icon and connect to the printers network name.
(it might take a minute or so to show up)
Once you get a solid blue wireless light on the printer, print a configuration page to get the printer's IP address.
Printing a Network Configuration Page.
Type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar.
This will open the printer's network page.
Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the left hand side to begin configuring the printer.
If yours doesn't have the Wireless Setup Wizard, then select Wireless 802.11, just fill out the network information.
Type in the SSID. (your network name)
Select Infrastructure.
Select encryption type. (WEP, WPA or Open-no passwords)
Apply the settings.
You have now completed the Wireless configuration.
Now go back to the wireless icon on the bottom right corner of the computer and click it, select your network name from the list.
If the software is already installed for a USB connection, then go to start, all programs, HP, Printer, select Printer Setup & Software Selection, select connect a new printer.
If the full software wasn't already installed, install it now.
If there is anything else that I can help you with just let me know.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. will the AirPort Express Base Station create a wifi connection that will enable me to wirelessly connect to XBOX live on my xbox 360

Yes, but not in all cases with it provide your with an "Open NAT" condition that some on-line gaming require. However, for most Xbox LIVE access, it should work just fine.

  • Trying to connect a second printer (this one wireless) through airport extreme.

I am such a dufus about anything related to setup!  Can I have two printers on my network, one connected by a cable and one wirelessly?  I just purchased a second printer for my home office so that I can access both printers from my MacBook Air.  The second printer is a Brother wireless one, and am trying to do the setup but can't figure out how.  I got to the step about the printer needing to "detect which mode - WiFi Protected Setup Mode or AOSS - your access oint/router uses...I pushed the little wireless setup button at the back of airport extreme, but keep getting an error message that says the printer "cannot detect a WLAN access point/router that has WPS or AOSS enabled."

Hello Gee Money. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Chances are pretty good that the signal from the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) down to the MacBook may not be sufficient three floors down.
I suggest downloading a copy of iStumbler. Use iStumbler's Inspector feature (select Edit > Inspector from iStumbler's menu) to determine the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) at different points around your house, by performing a simple RF site survey. Within the Inspector, note the values for "signal" & "noise" at these locations. Start with your MacBook near the AEBSn, note the readings, and then, choose the locations where you will typically use your MacBook to access the Internet ... especially the location three floors below.
SNR is the signal level (in dBm) minus the noise level (in dBm). For example, a signal level of -53dBm measured near an access point and typical noise level of -90dBm yields a SNR of 37dB, a healthy value for wireless LANs.
The SNR, as measured from the MacBook, decreases as the range to the base station increases because of applicable free space loss. Also an increase in RF interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones, which increases the noise level, also decreases SNR.
    SNR Guideline
    o 40dB+ SNR = Excellent signal
    o 25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal
    o 15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal
    o 10dB to 15dB SNR = Very low signal
    o 5dB to 10dB SNR = No signal
If the SNR is 20dB+ at each of these locations, then you should be getting reasonable performance from your AirPort. If less, either try to locate the source of the Wi-Fi interference or try relocating either the base station or the wireless clients until they are within a 20dB SNR range.

  • How to connect a printer to a wireless connection using airport/time capsule

How do you connect a Cannon MP620 printer to the wireless network with my time capsule/airport?  It was set up before but I've had to redo all the settings with a new Time Capsule and now the printer isn't working.  Can't remember how I set it up before.  Didn't seem that hard back then.
    Thanks!

So you plugedd the printer into the time capsule usb right?
You need to re-add the printer in the system preferences one more time because the location has moved.

  • Can't connect my P1102w printer to my wireless network (using Mac OS 10.6)

I have a vanilla home wireless network (D-Link to a cable modem), and a MacMini running OS 10.6.8. My Mac laptop and 4th. Gen iPad work seamlessly. But my hours-long attempt to connect my new HP P1102w to the network has been totally frustrating, despite close study of the pdf documentation, the printer's self-test/Device configuration sheet, browsing this forum, watching a slew of YouTube/HP videos, and  following all manner of directions.
The only consolation is the printer works fine on its USB connection.
Here are some issues I've encountered that have stopped me in my tracks:
Carefully following both the pdf instructions and HP's online how-to video, I get through Step 6 w/ no problemn. but then I go to Step 7, which says:
" Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure , select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list, and then click the << button."
Problem is there's nothing of the kind in that window. All I see is a status of the Wireless: enable or disabled (depending on a choice). And even if I try selecting Enabled, it switches right back to Disabled. Aside: I note the printed instructions show a copyright date of 2011. That's ancient history in the CPU world.
Other issues: The only IP address I can find for the printer is the IPv4 address, but that's only for Direct Print Configuration. Is that the IP address I'm looking for?
The printer's hardward address, I assume, is its MAC ? Boy, I could sure use clearer use of language here.
So, needless to add, I'm stuck. It seems it should be THAT hard, but so far nothing I've been able to find on HP support or the forums seems to help. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
PS. I'd hate to have to return this printer because I'm a two decade HP printer lover, but, alas, I may have to if I can't find a solution.

    Hi @Northwest-John,
I see by your post that you are unable to setup the printer on the wireless network. I can help you.
Update the printer's firmware by the USB connection just to make sure that isn't causing any issues with the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) not allowing the proper changes. HP LaserJet P1102w Firmware Update Utility.
The newest version is 20130703, which you can compare by printing the configuration page.
Power cycle the router and restart the Mac.
The printer won't recognize the network name if there usually is any symbols or spaces in the network name.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. Sometimes the Embedded Web Server (EWS) won't open in other browsers. Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.
(hold down the x button and when the printer makes a noise let go)
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Mac.
Go to the Apple, system preferences, print and fax.
    Double click on the P1102w.
    Open the utility.
    Click printer setup.
    Click HTML config.
This should open the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
    Click the Networking tab.
Click Wireless from the list on the left.
(Click Enable if you have this option)
Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure.
Select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list and then click the << button so the network name moves over to other box.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP, WPA/WPA2 or open . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Make sure you select either hexadecimal or alpha depending on your password. (very important)
    Apply the settings.
In the confirmation box, (changes have been saved) click OK.
You should get a solid blue light on the printer shortly.
Then all we have to do is delete the USB driver and add the network driver.
    Click on the Apple.
    Click system preferences.
Click the print and fax icon.
Highlight the printer and click on the - sign to delete the printer. (USB driver)
    Disconnect the USB cable.
Then click the + sign and select the printer from the list and click add. (P1102w bonjour)
    Test the printer.
If you have any issues with the HTML config opening then do the following steps:
    Close any applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, computer, MAC harddrive, Library, Printers, HP, LaserJet, click on folder for your printer, click on EWS browser or HTML config, click the Networking tab, click wireless on the left and fill out your information. (make sure infrastructure is selected) Apply settings.
Then delete the USB driver and add the network printer.
Let me know if you are still having issues with filling out the EWS for the printer.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Printer keeps dropping wireless connection after working for a while

My computer stops being able to communicate with the printer wirelessly even thought the printer says it is connected to the network and both the printer and computer are on the same network. What happens is I connect the printer to the network and print something from my computer. Then, after a short while, half an hour maybe, when the printer shows it is connected to the network, I try to print but my computer can't find the printer. The message say the printer cannot be found. If I go to the printer, and reconnect with the wireless connection wizard I can print. But after a short time, I won't be able to print again and have to do the wireless connection wizard again. Wireless direct is off. Don't know if that matters.

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.
Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual). This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers. Verify your DHCP range and change this first if needed. More Wireless Printing help is here (Windows solution 4, static IP).
Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off/Sleep' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click Settings Tab/Auto Off. Or use the Printer Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS). Also check your Printers Properties.
If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, turn off IPv6 in the printer.
If needed and you assigned a static IP address, try using 8.8.8.8 for the Preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 at the Alternate DNS server.
In the router: (Refer to your router manual for information)
Use a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security. Nobody can hack your system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same, they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    SSID broadcast must be enabled.
Save all settings. Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.
Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

  • How to have ethernet connected PC use printer and USB HD connected into TC

So I just got a new Time Capsule (500GB) and the way I have it connected is the cable modem goes through it and then another ethernet cable connects to my desktop PC (no wireless on this PC). Then I have my USB printer and USB HD going into the USB port on the Time Capsule via a USB Hub. Airport utility sees both the HD and the Printer.
My problem is that I can't get my PC to see the HD or the Printer. How does a PC connected through a ethernet cable and not wireless see and use these two peripherals? I have Bonjour for Windows installed but I thought that was for a wireless connection? Also is there a way to open some kind of configuration thing for Bonjour on my PC? Where on my PC would I find the HD and Printer (like in Windows Explorer or Network Places), I can't find these devices anywhere except when looking in the Airport Utility Manual Setup.
Any help would be much appreciated. I don't have much technical knowledge about networks.
Edit: One last thing is that before getting the TimeCapsule, I had a regular D-Link router running my wireless network and the printer was connected directly to the PC. This setup allowed my Macbook to use the printer and access any shared folders/files on my PC. My Mackbook was recently stolen and my new one will arrive next week, so right now I can't really test whether the Macbook can see and use the HD and Printer if they are connected to the Time Capsule. I'm wondering if I should just go back to plugging the HD and printer into the PC and running the network sharing that way????

Just wanted to bump this question to see if anyone has any answers. My main issue is seeing the time capsule from my Windows desktop and the connected harddrive. However, my new problem is that whenever I connect the USB Windows Formated HD to the Time Capsule the whole thing just stops working and my PC and my MacBook can't read the Time Capsule at all until I turn of the USB HD. Any help would be appreciated.

Like UnknownHero has asked, how many devices do you intend to connect? A single Valet Plus shouldn’t have trouble handling a normal home network which laptops, wifi phones, media players, DVRs etc.
But to answer your question, yes, it is possible.

  • WRT54GC config to connect a wired-printer on existing wireless network

    Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me with the following issue :
    - I have an existing wireless network at home, set up with a wireless router/dsl connection
    - I now have been given a wired-printer, and I'd like to connect my printer to the existing wireless network, using a WRT54GC device.
I have been trying for a while, and I believe but can't manage to configure the device do this, and didn't find this in the forum yet.
As anyone already done this successfully ?
    Thank you

What is the make and model of your printer?  What type of connections does it have -- ethernet port?   USB port?  Parallel port?
If your printer has an ethernet port, you can wire it directly to your router.
If your printer has only a USB port, you will need a printer server such as the Linksys WPS54G, WPSM54G.    These devices will allow you to use the printer as a wired or wireless printer.  Both of these devices support USB 1.1 and USB 2.0
I do not recommend the Linksys PSUS4 (wired print server with 4 port switch), because it only supports USB 1.1

  • How to print from different wireless connection on same network

I can print wirelessly when I am in range of the wifi to which my computer and attached printer connect. However, when I go to a different wifi connection within the same network, I cannot print. How can I my wifi connections on same network talk to each other so that I can print from second wifi site on same network?

The problem is you loaded the printer directly and now do not have it plugged in.. so delete the printer in the control panel.. then setup the printer again.. this time connect to it as network printer. The bonjour should make it available as a network resource..
Tell me if you still run into trouble doing that. You may need to load the IP of the TC manually..
Window7 has higher security level than xp.. and that can sometimes also cause issues.
Are you using SMB compliant names for the TC, wireless and printer??
Can the windows 7 computer get internet via the TC? Can you ping it?
Look up how to reduce the security level in windows to match xp.. I don't remember the details but you have to do some nifty footwork.
