Trying to connect PRE to Yahoo! mail...

When I first activated my pre, I setup my yahoo mail and it seemed to download all of my messages just fine. But when I tried to send a message, I just got an error that would not go away.
So I tried deleting the account and then add it again. But now, I get this error:
Unable to Sign In
Could not sign in to account.
The mail server responded: Invalid security token: 6 1236 0
I've tried following the steps found here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090624085549AAWWP7n but it gives me the same error.
Any tips?
Thanks

The solution to the "Invalid security token: 4 1213 0" and "Invalid security token: 6 1236 0" error messages in my case was to deactivate the "Yahoo! Mail for iPhone" partner application at Yahoo!, reboot the Prē and then add my Y! email address. Instructions:
Login to My Yahoo! account and then access the “Account Info” page (clicking on your name at the top of http://www.yahoo.com/ is one route to Account Info).
From the Account Info page, click on “Manage Account Links” (in the lower right).
On the resulting “Account Sign-In Settings” page, enable the check box next to “Yahoo! Mail for iPhone” and click the “Continue” button to deactivate that application.
Turn off the Palm Prē, then turn it back on and follow the regular instructions to add your Yahoo! email address to the Prē.
(I used an EVDO connection; I don't know whether WiFi or EVDO makes a difference or not.)

  • Why is Mail trying to connect to an unknown mail server (and how do I stop it)?

Hi - I'm worried that someone has hacked into my system so that it tries to connect to a fake mail server (perhaps to send spam)? I usually have the activity window open when Mail is running, and noticed that it was trying to connect to an unfamiliar mail server the other day - it was shown as an IP address whereas all the mail servers in my mail accounts have names rather than IP addresses ... so I copied the IP address down and searched for it (196.201.4.6), to find that it is run by malawi.net ... in Africa. I recently upgraded to Mac OS Lion, so initially I had figured that it was showing the mail server address differently, but I couldn't think of any reason that my email servers would be in Malawi!
By now I was getting worried: I checked all my mail accounts to be sure that something had not changed, and confirmed that none of my accounts used this mail server (or mentioned the IP address); and confirmed that the "Connecting to server "196.201.4.6"" activity message only appeared when I first reconnected to the internet (i.e. now when I manually clicked on "get mail") ... which suggests to me that it is a hidden process somewhere?
I don't have a virus checker, but downloaded ClamXav and ran a check on my user folders ... but found nothing.
Any thoughts on what this might be, or - if it is something malicious or externally controlled - how I can remove it?
    Thanks - andy

Hi - "display remote images in HTML messages" was already deselected, so I don't think it was an HTML message connecting.
But your response made me wonder about whether it was something else in an old email that was causing the problem - I had a search and found some emails from back in 2006 (when I did some work in Malawi for CARE) that were from the mail server (mailer.malawi.net = 196.201.4.6) that has been appearing. However, I still don't understand why (six years later) Mail is now trying to connect to this server ... I'm pretty sure that it never used to happen (and I have been a full-time Mac user since 2003), as I always have the activity window open and would have noticed, so it is only since I upgraded to Lion last week that it started. Any thoughts? I could delete/archive the old emails, but I would really like to understand what is happening?
    Thanks - andy

  • IPhone 5 Can't connect to my Yahoo mail

Get error message saying "connect cannot connect to Yahoo server...Try later   I have been trying for 24 hrs.  Went to Apple store and someone else there having same problem....They took our phones and gave us new ones.....Same problem......They took a demo phone and used one of the store persons e-mail and there was no problem.  It appears to be happening on just some e-mail addresses...Anyone else with this problem?  Any solution
Getting Yahoo customer service is "yahoo no service"

My problem got solved (probably just a fluke)
When I first got the new phone I used the cloud to restore it and everything except the yahoo mail got restored.
Recently I CONNECTED DIRECTLY to my computer and to Itunes and synced.  Magically my Yahoo e-mail came back.
As I said I don't know if it was a fluke but it is certainly worth a try
Good Luck and let me know if it worked

  • Firefox giving me network connection error in yahoo mail

I am getting this message from yahoo mail when I use Firefox my regular browser. I went back to an old version of IE and I did not get the error message. I cleared out some stuff earlier I was wondering if it was connected to it.

Maybe it was cached web content that may have been cleared. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/advanced-settings-browsing-network-updates-encryption#w_connection-settings-dialog]
Are there preferences in yahoo that store network connection? Or you can check the Firefox preferences for how it connects to the internet.

  • I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it "can't connect" to my yahoo mail account, despite the fact that I can receive mail from that account. The banner appears with my coded password highlighted and asks me to choose 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it 'can't connect' to my Yahoo account despite the fact that I am able to receive mail from that account. It appears with the name of my Yahoo account, my password (coded), and the choice to 'cancel' or 'ok'. If I click either, the banner goes away but comes back soon. I can open Mail and see that all accounts are online. I get the banner SEVERAL time during a session - very annoying!
I have several accounts, but this only happens with Yahoo and sometimes Hotmail. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this Mail issue?
    Thanks.

I have 5 IMAP and 1 POP (Hotmail).
    The Yahoo is IMAP.

  • HT3228 My ipad4 is connected to my yahoo mail. Yesterday, no text show in the message box. However, I can see that  there is message from the inbox index list under each email.

My iPad 4 is connected with my yahoo email. Yester day, I suddenly could not see ant text in message box.

Quit the mail app completely. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
    Launch mail again.
Or .... Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Outlook 2013 stopped connecting to my Yahoo mail server

I set up my Outlook 2013 to my yahoo mail server a week or so ago when I got my new windows 8 computer.  It's been working fine.  I signed on today.  Sent/received emails.  Toward end of day, I can't sign on to yahoo mail server.
I can't send or receive emails.  I did nothing to change the settings.  I checked the settings, but I still can't send or receive.  Why is it doing this and what can I do to fix it?  The same thing is happening on my laptop.  Both
    were working fine earlier.

    Hello,
Since you use Yahoo mail server, I recommend you contact Yahoo support to verify the issue.
Before you contact Yahoo support, please post the error when you send messages.

  • When trying to connect to a Yahoo link, like yahoo mail, I get (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to us-mg5.mail.yahoo.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

Are you using a bookmark to open this link?
If you do then try to open the https://mail.yahoo.com/ page instead and possibly modify the URL of the bookmark to remove the leading us-mg5
It is usually not a good idea to bookmark such pages directly as such links to specific domains can become invalid.

  • Yahoo Mail and Palm Pre

I have been experiencing problems with my paid Yahoo e-mail account.
Over this first week of my Pre, Yahoo and the pre have been getting better. At first, my deleted e-mails were not being deleted from the Yahoo server. Now they are.
    Here's my last two problems:
    1) I have set my syncing to manual (to try to deal with my battery life issues) and yet the Pre still periodically retrieves my e-mail... Not a big deal, but see #2.
    2) Even when I go to Airplane Mode or even turn my phone off, I still get a Yahoo error 5 code when trying to connect to my e-mail via web browser. This error indicates that "some other device has logged into you account and thus e-mail is not accessible now". I need to do that to tag mails as spam or not since the Pre's e-mail app does not support that. I am eventually able to retrieve e-mail through web client on PC. It's as though one or both sides does not release the connection. (I do have a ticket entered at Yahoo).
    Any comments would be appreciated...
    Thanks

Load the e-mail app. Press the E-mail menu item in the upper left hand corner. Select Preferences & Accounts. Scroll down to the Accounts section and open your Yahoo account. Scroll down to "Remove Account" and press that. After you remove the account all your e-mails will be deleted from the Pre. I waited a couple of days. I was waiting to her from Yahoo, but never did., Anyway I went through adding the Yahoo account back in ( Load e-mail app, E-mail menu from upper right hand corner, Preferences & Accounts, scroll down to "Add An Account" and enter the data for your Yahoo account. I did NOT have to re-enter all the server (SMTP and IMAP info). It was already there. And yes, you will now "retrieve" from Yahoo all your folders...
Although, I now am experiencing this: I have my sync setting to show 7 days of mail. It used to remove from the Pre the eighth day ago as I went from day 7 into day 8. Now ALL of those e-0mails are staying...

  • IPod Touch 4 with iOS5 not connecting to Yahoo Mail

After downloading iOS5 on my iPod Touch 4 I could not connect to my Yahoo Mail.
Read many suggestions and called Apple tech support. The tech tried to access Yahoo Mail and he had the same problem I did.
BUT... I fixed it on my own by process of elmination.
    Go to...
    Settings
    Safari
Turn off Private Browsing ( this might be all you need to do)
    then...
    Scroll down to Advanced
Turn on Debug Console ( I'm not sure this step is necessary)
Change your Yahoo email password on your Mac or PC
    Restart your iPod Touch
Try logging into yahoo mail from yahoo.com using your new password.
I think turning private browsing was the problem and I think it was added in iOS5.
I hope this saves all of you some aggravation. I spent 2 days trying to  fix.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Yahoo mail times out before it connects.

I have been using Yahoo Mail and Mozilla for quite a while w/o any issues.
About a week ago I started having a major issue trying to sign into my yahoo mail.
It takes forever and if it connects w/o timing out anything else I do in mail has the same issue.
If I go to sent box or inbox it will say 'loading email" and this can last and then "there appears to be a problem loading the message list, RETRY".
    I would really appreciate support.
I am very frustrated as I am unable to use my Yahoo Mail Account the way I had been for the last 6 years.
