Trying to connect to DA Clients using SCCM Server through IPHTTPS DA Connections

Hello,
   I have been working on this for some time now. I opened up a ticket with Microsoft to help us setup or DA Server, and they were able to get it setup. However, SCCM server tools (Remote Control) would not to the Client. We found a few articles
stating that this was a firewall issue on the clients and we needed to open a few ports with Edge Transversal. We did so. I am able to RDP in to clients, but only from DA server. My SCCM server still cannot connect.
I think the overall issue is not Firewall related, however.  I think it has to do with ipv6. DA uses IPv6 for clients. My internal network is ipv4. Do I have to erect a IPv6 DHCP scope in my environment for my internal SCCM Server to see the DA Clients?

Hi,
If you want a host located on your internal network to communicate with A DirectAccess client IPv6 will be required from end to end. If your SCCM server is not ISATAP client you must setup a Jumpbox configured as an ISATAP client of the ISATAP server (your
DA Gateway internal network card). Have a look at these blog posts :

    hi ,
    do you know  How to configure SNMP on all managed client using SCCM 2012 SP1?

    As a side note, I made an interesting discovery last week: the SNMP Service is deprecated in Windows Server 2012. Why would you want to use SNMP on an actual Windows OS though? There are far better ways available to monitor Windows. I'm sure that lines
    up with why they deprecated it.

    Thanks for your reply. Does Mac OS X (or server) supports the function that different accounts remote login in simultaneously and use the applications separately at the same time?

    Hi,
    It seems that your configuration is Ok. By the way, the workaround for this error is:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [Transparent gateway for ODBC][H001] The environment variable <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
    * Set HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO in the hs{sid}init.ora file to the data source name.
    Example: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = <ODBC DataSource Name>
    * Make sure the hs{sid}init.ora file exists in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory and has the same name as the SID in the LISTENER.ORA.
    Example: If SID=hsodbc in the listener.ora file, then the hs{sid}init.ora file would be named ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/inithsodbc.ora

  • For find activated lync client using SCCM 2012

    Hi All,
    In my current company we have in deployed lync client. But we are not sure how many clients are activated.
    Is there any way to find which system got activated using SCCM 2012.
    Please suggest and let me know any reference.
    Thanks

    I really don't know, but I would guess that a file or registry key would change once it's activated. Basically, I would simply compare an activated system with a not activated system and look for the difference. Once you've located that you can create
    a compliance setting to see how many system are actived, or not.

  • Client "discoverying" SCCM Server?

    Hi,
    I got a strange problem, we are in the process of implementing the SCCM 2012 R2 into our company, and for testing purposes i designated only one OU to be discoverable by our new SCCM 2012 R2 server, but every now and then another computer is discovered randomly.
    How can that be when those computers which are discovered are nowhere near the OU in which SCCM is setup to discover computer objects. Right now I only have one test computer object inside.
    Only two discovery methods i have enabled in this moment are heartbeat discovery and AD system discovery.
    Thanks,

    Look at the client version. It's a down-level client left over from a previous 2007 installation.
    It's not truly manageable from the 2012 site, but the client doesn't know that so its sending its info up and because the discovery format hasn't changed, the 2012 site is still creating a resource for it.

  • Permissions are not shown correctly in Get Info on Snow Leopard client, using Tiger server w/ ACL's

    Invoking "Get Info" on a file or folder which is on a shared volume hosted by a G5 running Server 10.4 fails to show meaningful permissions when done from a 10.6 iMac.  It says only that the user has "custom permissions", which is true since there are ACL's in operation.  However, the Owner and Group POSIX settings are not shown, only the Everyone setting shows, making it impossible to determine which user created the file (in order to resolve issues when permissions prevent intended action).  The same file or folder will show Owner and Group on 10.5 systems, as well as at the 10.4 Server itself, so we do have a workaround.  I have noticed, though, that I have run into permissions restrictions where I should not, such as creating a folder on a shared volume using a 10.6 system, and then not being able to save into that folder from the same system/user.
    Is there something about the implementation of ACL's in Tiger that confounds Snow Leopard's Finder?

    Hi,
    I did two things to get it working, and haven't taken the time to sort out which did it.  But it is working so it's good enough for me.
    First I followed TeenTitan's suggestion, and also checked "Allow printing from the internet".  I'm behind a firewall so not too concerned I'll get someone's odd photo on the printer.
    Second I went back to server admin, selected the queue under queues in the Print service, then selected IPP and deselected LPR.  Bonjour went grey but stayed checked.
    After this I see the printer with "@ server name" appended, and it added the printer drivers like it should.
    So all working well.

  • Time Capsule disconnects internet when using web server through port forwarding

    My current config is: 2TB Time Capsule running 7.6.3, Mac Pro running Lion (10.7.5), MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.3), and a couple of MacBook Pro Retinas running Mountain Lion. My current ISP is Comcast.
    I have the Time Capsule set up to port forward port 80 to the Mac Pro for the purpose of running a web server. Most of the traffic is shuttling fairly large m4v files back and forth to work (work product from video editing work). I can reach the webserver on the Mac Pro just fine from the outside world, and can list files in the directory just fine. When I initiate a download (via right click on a link, "Save As..." or whatever), the Time Capsule reports that the Internet has been disconnected, and all machines inside my network lose access to the outside world. I have to either power cycle the Time Capsule, or disconnect/reconnect the Cat-6 cable between the cable modem and the Time Capsule to re-establish the connection. Interestingly, the download continues and completes on the other end without issue (so, the connection is actually still there!).
    Before switching to Comcast, I was on AT&T Uverse - Uverse includes a router, so I had the TIme Capsule set up in Bridge Mode. That worked fine. I also have an older 500GB 1st generation Time Capsule. I set it up with the same config as my 2TB TC, and it shows the exact same behavior - internet disconnects upon initiating a file download through a forwarded port. I then hooked the Mac Pro up directly to the cable modem. I can initiate a download without issue, and I continue to stay connected to the Internet without problem. Called Comcast anyway - they report no errors on the line, but reset the whole device chain anyway. No change in behaviors.
    I tried downgrading the Time Capsule software to 7.6.2 (the earliest version that came on it). No dice, same behavior.
    So... I called Apple. Complete and utter FAIL. Apple Support reports that they have no training in the port forwarding features of the Time Capule or Airport products, and cannot help me resolve the issue because of that. So, I have a $300 router that apparently cannot perform a simple routing function (download through a forwarded port), that I cannot troubleshoot (because Airport software v7 is an epic fail in that regard), made by a company who cannot support it - and everything this $300 device is doing can be done by a $50 device with a $100 external hard drive?
    Do I understand this situation correctly? What have I missed in trying to troubleshoot this thing?

    Excellent summary.. I think you have covered all the salient points most thoroughly.
    Port forwarding on the TC I would put into the category of "epic fail"
    I have a nasty feeling it just doesn't work in many cases. Clearly from your situation the port is forwarded correctly.. it is the actual download that is causing the device to crash.. which is probably not the port forwarding itself that is at fault but rather the external link and opening another port for the download to happen.
    Many of the issues were caused by using icloud and btmm.. which would work a lot better btw. Although the hassle there is needing to offer that as a service to any Tom Dick or Harry.
    Let me suggest a work around or other things to try.
    I also have an older 500GB 1st generation Time Capsule. I set it up with the same config as my 2TB TC, and it shows the exact same behavior - internet disconnects upon initiating a file download through a forwarded port.
    Use 5.6 utility.. more info below. And take the firmware of this unit (Gen1) back to 7.5.2 (before icloud mess ups in 7.6).
    You can go back to 7.5 firmware also in Gen4 TC if it is more than about 14months old.. Simply hold down the option key when you select firmware and the old versions will show up. If your TC came with 7.6.1 (the 7.6.2 was withdrawn as it was even bigger failure than 7.6.3). then you cannot go back.
    You might also find downloading via http is not as reliable as using FTP.. FTP is a better and more efficient protocol. It should be no problem to setup ftp server on the mac pro to allow download via ftp even with a browser.
    But in the end.. your $50 router suggestion.. well perhaps a little more than that.. $80-100 will work very well.. also this router can be setup with a Hard Disk and offer the files to the internet via FTP.. without needing full network access to your internal network.
    How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
    Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
    Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
    You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your help with this. As it turns out, I received this message from

    =======
    All,
    The J2EE monitoring tool OVTA rolled out to Weblogic Farm Linux QA and Stage environment
    had a bug in the instrumentation. The bug induces a java.lang.IllegalAccessError.
    A patch as been rolled out to fix this issue.

    Once the patch was rolled out and weblogic was restarted, the issue disappeared.
    Thanks again for your help!

    We have internal & external networks in our environment . Internal network in data center , the sccm server is also in data center . All client systems is getting software's from sccm in internal network ( done successful) .
    i have opened the ports in firewall 135,139,80,443,445, etc (TCP,UDP)
    When iam trying to push the client from SCCM server to  external network client system. it is not installing the  Ccm setup ,
    not showing "Active" in SCCM server .
    I have added a Account in Client push , Same account i added in Client system Administrator group .
    Info : All systems in Device collection
    please updated the suggestions, to solve this issue .
    Thanks in advance

    Client push requires more than just those handful of ports as it uses RPC and SMB to push the initial required files -- thus, you need to open the dynamic high ports required for RPC.
    You can easily see this activity in the ccm.log.If you are unable/unwilling to open the RPC high ports, then you should choose an alertnate client install method.

    3.When running the client you need to use a full corbaloc url (Note the '1.2', which specifies GIOP version. Change:
    Client -ORBInitRef NameService=iioploc://localhost:7001/NameService
    to:
    Client -ORBInitRef NameService=corbaloc:iiop:1.2@localhost:7001/NameService

  • Upgrade of Adobe Reader 10.1.0 to 10.1.3 using SCCM

    Hi Team,
    We want to roll out Adobe Reader 10.1.0 to 10.1.3 using SCCM, gone through many forums still get confusing. please let me know what is best pracitce to upgrade 10.1.0 to 10.1.3 using simpliest way..
    Thanks in Advance.

    You only need the latest patch, which is 10.1.4 by now.
    the TS looks like this.
    Step 1: uninstall old Reader Versions
    WMI Query : (root\cimv2\sms)
    if all of the conditions are true
    Select * From SMS_installedSoftware Where ProductName Like '%Adobe%Reader%' And Not ProductVersion Like '10.%'
    ... running the following script
    strComputer = "."
    intRet = 0
    Set sho = Wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2\sms")
    Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("select * from SMS_InstalledSoftware where ProductName Like '%Adobe%Reader%' And Not ProductVersion Like '10.%'",,48)
    For Each objItem in colItems
      strVersion = objItem.ProductVersion
      prodCode = objItem.ProductCode
      strCommand = "C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /X" & prodCode & " /norestart /q"
      intRet = sho.run(strCommand,0,True)
      If intRet = 3010 Then
        intRet = 0
      End If
    Next
    wscript.quit(intRet)
    Step 2 : Install Adobe Reader 10
    WMI Query : (root\cimv2\SMS)
    if none of the condidions are true
    Select * From SMS_installedSoftware Where ProductName Like '%Adobe%Reader%'
    Step 3: Install Adobe Reader Update 10.1.4
    WMI Query:  (root\cimv2\SMS)
    if all of the conditions are true
    Select * From SMS_installedSoftware Where ProductName Like '%Adobe%Reader%' And ProductVersion Like '10.%' And ProductVersion != '10.1.4'

    Hi, I am using HP11 and iPlanet web server. When trying to upload files over HTTP using FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" that are bigger than a few Kilobytes i get a 408 error. (client timeout). It is as if the server has decided that the client has timed out during the file upload. The default setting is 30 seconds for AcceptTimeout in the magnus.conf file. This should be ample to get the file across, even increasing this to 2 minutes just produces the same error after 2 minutes. Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this, I couldn't see one for iPlanet and Web, many thanks, Kieran.

    Hi,
    You didnt mention which version of IWS. follow these steps.
    (1)Goto Web Server Administration Server, select the server you want to manage.
    (2)Select Preference >> Perfomance Tuning.
    (3)set HTTP Persistent Connection Timeout to your choice (eg 180 sec for three minutes)
    (4) Apply changes and restart the server.
    *Setting the timeout to a lower value, however, may    prevent the transfer of large files as timeout does not refer to the time that the connection has been idle. For example, if you are using a 2400 baud modem, and the request timeout is set to 180 seconds, then the maximum file size that can be transferred before   the connection is closed is 432000 bits (2400 multiplied by 180)
